Chapter 19
Video Info: For some reason this video just reminded me of Faith and Jace. The beginning doesn't pertain to them that much but if you watch the rest of the video and think of Faith instead of Clary, it's epic!
Chapter 19
The steady heartbeat of Jace Wayland could put anyone to sleep. But, in this moment, I couldn't be more awake. My head laid of his bare chest while his laid on my pillow. The sheets were wrapped around us, covering us up from the world.
One of my hands seemed to trace Jace's Connection ruin, watching it as it still shined brighter than the rest. Last night was... epic. Every ruin on our bodies seemed to shine in a gold color, matching our eyes.
This seemed to make the whole experience even better.
Jace held me in one of his arms, almost protectively as he watched the ceiling. His other hand seemed to lay next to my tracing hand, brushing against it every now and then and creating a spark.
"I wish we could stay here, like this," Jace said, his voice sounding deep in thought.
My head tilted up to look at him, smiling slightly, "We could. I locked the door. We could stay here all day and night."
Jace smiled, looking down at me. "Now that sounds like a good day." He leans down, capturing my lips in his as he pulls me close. Suddenly, the door to my room swings open, making me curse under my breath. I could have sworn I locked that.
When Izzy stormed in with her steel in her hands, I knew that it didn't matter if the door was locked or not, she was entering. It didn't seem to faze her that Jace and I were laying in my bed, naked with only a sheet to cover us.
"Jesus' Iz," Jace said, pulling up the sheets.
"It's Lydia, she was attacked in her office. The Cup is gone," Izzy said, making my mouth part in shock.
Izzy left, giving Jace and me the privacy we needed to get dressed into normal clothes. We entered the computer room where Clary and Alec were, Izzy already going to the computers.
"How's Lydia?" I asked, jogging in the room.
"Better. Magnus is doing what he can to help her, but it's bad. And the Cup is definitely missing."
Jace inhales deeply, running his hand through his hair, "So is Hodge."
"Maybe he was attacked, too," Izzy said, punching on the keyboard.
"Maybe he's the one who attacked her," I comment, making Izzy look behind me, at me.
"Hodge? No way. We've known him our entire lives. He would never do that to us." She pulls up the security tape, revealing Hodge hitting Lydia over the head and stealing the Cup.
Jace sighed, shaking his head as he looked at the ground, disappointed in himself. "I led him right to the Cup."
Alec shook his head, seeming to start with disbelief, watching as it turned to anger. "We treated him like family. How could he do this to us?"
Izzy pulls up another set of cameras, revealing it to be Medic room where Jocelyn's floating body laid. Hodge was standing by her, talking to someone as he holds a ring in his hand.
My eyes squinted at the camera, watching his lips move. "Looks like he's talking to someone," I spoke my thoughts.
"And I can bet who it is," Jace said, crossing his arms in anger.
Alec gestured towards the screen, taking a couple steps away from the computers. "Well, that explains how he deactivated the Punishment rune, but it doesn't explain where he got the ring."
Clary looked at the group, "You think someone smuggled it past the wards?"
Jace shrugged, "Maybe. Hodge wasn't the only ex-Circle member around here."
Izzy turned and looked at Jace. "Look, I know I don't always see eye to eye with my parents, but I know they're not traitors."
Raising an eye, Jace asked, "Really? Isn't that what you just said about Hodge? It'd have to be someone we trusted, but if there was an intruder inside the Institute, we would have found them by now."
Clary looked at Alec, "What about the Forsaken attack?"
"No. We killed that thing, and I didn't see a ring."
"He didn't have one during the autopsy, but maybe there's something in the footage," Izzy said. Once again, she returned to punching on the computer, pulling up another camera from that day. Sure enough, we find Hodge bending over the Forsaken's body, slipping the ring off.
Everyone seemed to let out a sigh, anger, confusion, and disbelief written on all of our faces.
Clary crossed her arms, it all making sense now, "So, it wasn't a random attack."
"He was just the delivery boy," Jace said, growing tenser as he watched the screen.
I can't believe this. Hodge was so worthy, proud to be a part of us. Now, he's seen working with Valentine? Why?
Alec steps aside, pointing to the frozen picture of Hodge. "If he gives that Cup to Valentine, he'll create an army of Shadowhunters. With that kind of power behind him, he'll kill thousands."
Izzy stood up, "He'll kill thousands just creating the army. Most mundanes won't survive that."
"We won't let that happen," I said, turning my head to Jace who stood next to me. He looked straight ahead, his hands rolled into fists. "I'm gonna make sure of it."
Everyone went into their own rooms, changing into fight gear before we headed to the weaponry. I grabbed a seraph blade, looking it over before I felt Jace's presence approaching me from behind. I turned, finding that exact scene.
"Hey," I said, turning around fully. Clary and Izzy stood behind me, still grabbing weapons while Alec grabbed his bow and arrows.
"Alec and I are going to go hunt down Hodge while you guys head to Hotel Dumort."
My eyes pulled together in confusion, "Wait, what? No, we go together."
Jace sighed, "We need to find Hodge."
"Then I'll go with you," I shrugged, putting my blade in my jacket.
Putting his hands on my arms and sliding them down to my hands, Jace stopped me. "I need you with Clary and Izzy. I don't trust those vampires with them and they need your help. Okay?"
"But-"
"I'll just be a phone call away," Jace said, giving my hands a small squeeze. "You'll be safer with them."
I eyed Jace, seeing the plead in his eyes as he starred at me. A sigh left my lips as I moved my hands up to around his neck, lightly scratching the back of it. "Okay, fine. But you call me if something happens. And text me when you find him, okay?"
Jace nodded, leaning in and capturing my lips before pulling away. My hands lowered as I watched him leave, my heart racing. Some part of me told me to follow Jace and just join him anyways. While the other part trusted Jace and wanted to stay.
Despite my heart racing pounds in my ears, I decided to join Izzy and Clary as we headed to the vampire hotel.
Raphael stood in front of us with Simon next to him and a few of his men behind them. Raphael nodded to us, "For Shadowhunters, you don't seem to do a lot of Shadowhunting."
Scuffing, Izzy smirked, "There is more to the job than killing demons."
My sister pulled us back on track, raising her head slightly. "We need to talk to Camille. We know you have her here. We tracked her to the Dumort."
"It's true, but I'm afraid she's a bit tied up at the moment," Raphael smirked. He stretched out his arms, "Is there something I can help you with?"
Simon held up a finger towards us, "Just a second." He grabbed Raphael's arm, pulling him to the side and whispering to him. A sigh left my lips as I crossed my arms in wait.
My mind, all it could do was go to Jace. I wondered what he was doing, if they had found Hodge, and if so, what were they planning on doing?
When Simon and Raphael returned to Clary, Izzy, and I, Raphael seemed to let out a sigh. "I'll bring you what's left of Camille's things, but speaking to her is out of the question."
I scuffed, looking at them with squinted eyes, "Her things? This isn't the kind of book she would've just left sitting around."
"I'm sorry but that's the best I can do."
Clary took a step towards Raphael, "We're supposed to be allies."
Raphael nodded, "And we are. But Shadowhunters have no business interfering with the Night Children's affairs. You may look to the Clave for justice, but the vampires look to me. Camille stays where she is."
"You're making a huge mistake," My sister said.
With a shrug, Raphael commented, "I guess we'll have to wait and see, won't we?" With that, he turned and left, seeming to disappear and leave us.
As if the plan was made days in advance, we pulled our heads together and got an idea. Izzy headed to the basement of the hotel, where Camille's items were. Simon somehow crammed Clary and I into one of the coffins before wheeling us into the locked room where Camille was locked away.
Lifting the top, Simon reveals himself, letting Clary and I sit up, cramped next to each other.
"I'm sure this is comfy and all, but I defiantly don't feel the room to do anything fun," I comment. Simon smiles at my comment, helping me and Clary out of the coffin and onto the cement floor.
Looking around the room, I noticed we were in a darker, more cold and cement room. Many things were placed in it, but in the center sat a large, red coffin, chained shut. Simon looked over at us, "Sure this will work?"
Clary nodded, taking in a deep breath, "Izzy's a pro. By the time that vamp finds Raphael, we'll be long gone."
"Let's get this over with. If anyone catches us, we're dead," I said, moving over to the coffin.
Simon shrugged, mumbling behind me, "Some of us already are." Clary and Simon joined me, all of us standing over the coffin. "Once we open this, there's no going back. Everything we've done to unite the Downworld goes out the window," Simon comments.
Nodding, Clary says, "I wish there was another way, but if Valentine gets ahold of the Cup there won't be a Downworld left to unite."
With that, I pull out my steel, marking a ruin over the locked chain before watching it unlock and drop to the floor. The three of us grabbed the coffin lid, lifting it up, and revealing an unconscious Camille laying in it.
No movement. No breath. Nothing.
"She's dead," I said in disbelief. Suddenly, Camille sits up, reaching for us with her long finger nails. My reaction is just as quick, pulling out my blade and holding it to her neck. She freezes, eyeing me as I eye her back. "Not so fast," I comment with a straight face.
"What? Do you think holding a blade to my throat will change my next thoughts?"
I didn't move a muscle, "No. But we don't care about thoughts. Where's the Book of the White?"
Camille squinted her eyes at me, looking at Clary too. "The book of the what?"
Simon moved his hands to resemble the size, "The Book of the White. Big, white spell book. Kind of explains itself."
"Never heard of it."
"And yet we tracked it to you," Clary said suspiciously, tilting her head to the side.
Camille smirked, "Darling what would I possibly want with a spell book?"
I lower the blade, growing annoyed, "We don't have time for this. Put her back in." I shove her back down, grabbing the lid to close it only for Camille to sit right back up. She waves her hand, her smart ass attitude and look seeming to vanish, "Okay, okay, okay. You said it was a warlock book?"
"Yeah," Clary nodded. "We think our mom gave it to you. She ran an antique store. Vampires sell that sort of stuff, right?"
Nodding, Camille said, "All the time. But if your mother was even half as charming as you, I'm pretty sure I'd remember her."
"What about Dorothea Rollins? She was our mom's assistant," Clary asked, ignoring the vampire's comment.
Raising an eyebrow, Camille said, "Dot? Oh, but of course. She was our favorite customer. So your entire life has been paid for by my antiquities. I guess that means you owe me."
Rolling my eyes, growing irritated, I said, "Do you know where it is or not?"
Camille sighed, "It's in my apartment on the Upper East Side. My own pied-a-terre. I can take you there but you'll have to get me out of here first." She leaned back on one arm, seeming to make herself at home in the coffin. "Or you can leave me in here, and never get the book. Totally up to you."
My sister and I looked at each other, letting out an equal sigh. We have no choice, at least, not right now.
Simon, Clary, Camille, and I snuck our way out of her trapped room and into the main one. Even with everyone gone, we still staid quiet and close to walls, just in case.
"Simon, it's 6:00 a.m. The sun's almost up," Clary said, looking back at her "friend".
"No problem. We'll go downstairs and take the tunnels out. Come on," Simon leads the way around the corner, only to quickly back up into us. All of us seemed to back up as Raphael entered with five men.
Great. Of course.
"Going somewhere?" Raphael asked, looking between us before settling on Camille.
"Raphael," Camille hissed, angrily.
Raphael eyed the vampire queen, "You should have stayed put. I'm disappointed in you."
Simon shrugged, trying to ease the tension with one of his geeky smiles. "I guess it's too late to put her back in the box?"
Eyeing Camille up and down, Raphael mumbled, "I'm afraid so." His eyes moved to my sister, "Our alliance is finished. The Accords may prohibit killing mundanes, but they say nothing about sunburned vampires. Simon's betrayed us just as Camille did. They deserve the same fate. Adios." He turned around, nodding to his men as he prepared to walk out, "Kill them," he ordered.
Before they could take more than a step, the wall behind us exploded, releasing the bright sunset from outside. The second the sun entered, it seemed to create a wall between us and Raphael with his men.
Izzy suddenly enters, smirking at Raphael, "Seriously, guys? Typical vampire always underestimating a Shadowhunter." The vampires hissed at her, only causing her to wave as she said, "Adios."
Camille, Izzy, Clary, Simon, and I turned and walked back down the hallway, leaving the vampires to scurry back. We moved quickly through the hotel, headed down to the tunnels were it was safest for Camille and Simon.
A sigh left Camille lips as we all tried to keep up with her. "I think I'd have been better off just staying in the coffin."
"But you didn't. We got you out," I stated, catching up next to her.
Izzy shrugged, seeming to make a comment that only Clary paid notice too. "Technically, I got you out."
"Noted. Now, tell us where the book is," Clary said, taking the other side of Camille.
Camille smirked, "Patience, my dear-"
"Enough!" I yelled, grabbing Camille's arm and pinning her against the wall. The action surprised everyone in the tunnels, even Camille who quickly wiped it away to replace it with a smirk.
"Looks like someone is on edge without their little Connection."
I pulled out my blade, seeming to find an anger in me that wasn't mine. Something was off, I could feel it. I held the blade to Camille's neck again as I spoke with venom in my tone. "Just because we got you out doesn't mean I won't kill you right here."
Camille sighed for a moment, adjusting her stance. "There's still one more thing I require of from Simon. A Writ of Transmutation."
Clary and I both looked equally confused, "What the hell is that?"
"A document stating you asked her to turn you into a vampire," Izzy said, looking shocked at Simon.
"Signed and sealed in your blood, of course," Camille nodded. "I definitely don't want the Clave to falsely accuse me of killing mundanes."
Clary shook her head, "You want Simon to pardon you? No way."
I held the blade closer to her neck, seeming to just graze it which caused her to stiffen up. "You killed Simon. The least we could do is return the favor."
"And yet the second I go up in smoke, so does any hope of you finding your precious book," Camille says.
"Faith, she's right," Izzy said, but I didn't move.
"Faith," Clary said, laying her hand on my shoulder.
My sister's touch seemed to pull me back to myself, releasing the anger and tension that held me there. With a slight pause, I lowered the blade, stuffing it back into my jacket pocket. "So where do we get this document, huh? I can't imagine you have many friends left," I said, my voice seeming to calm down with every word.
Camille smirked, "I know a guy."
Of course, we found ourselves at Magnus' place, finding his main room empty as Camille led the way. Although he seemed to be in no sight, Camille spoke like he was right in front of her.
"So, Magnus, how long has it been? One hundred? One hundred fifty years?"
"One hundred and thirty-eight," Magnus said, causing Clary, Simon, Izzy, and I to turn around and part. Magnus stood with his hands behind his back, looking Camille up at down. "Oddly, I haven't missed you."
Smirking, Camille turned and faced him. "Of course you have, my love."
Shaking my head and looking between the two past lovers, I spoke up, "All right, you two can catch up later. Right now, we need to find the Book of the White."
Camille looked over at me, her smirk dropping, "And you will, but not without payment." Her head turned back to Magnus, locking eyes with him as she spoke. "You of all people should understand that."
Magnus nodded, making his way around the group and towards the other side of the room, "Of course. And what is it you require?"
"A clean slate."
Simon spoke up next to Clary, "She wants a Writ of Turning-Me-Into-A-Vampire."
"And we need you to draft it," Clary said, seeming to finish his sentence. Sometimes those two remind me of Jace and I. The thought of him, brings a numbing feeling at the end of my finger-tips, causing my heart to feel like it's beating out of place in my chest.
Magnus thinks for a second, looking at Camille, "Hmm. I thought I was done with you."
"We'll never be done with each other."
Izzy looked at me, her spot claimed next to me. "I'm gonna call for backup." I nodded as she stepped away, seeming to watch as Clary did the same with Simon.
Everyone stepped away from each other, seeming to join their own groups as they discussed different things. This gave me a good time to call Jace, stepping into the other room.
With numbing finger-tips, I pushed Jace's name on my phone and held it up to my ear, waiting to hear his voice and bring my body back to normal. Instead, I was met with his voicemail. Although it helped, it seemed to hold a lifelessness to it that only I seemed to find in it.
"Hey Jace, it's Faith. We found Camille and she's leading us to the Book of White. We're at Magnus' right now, but probable won't stay long. Give me a call back." I paused for a second, "I miss you."
A small sigh left my lips before I hung up. As if me hanging up with a trigger he was waiting for, Alec stepped in.
"Alec, did you find Hodge?" I asked, my eyes seeming to automatically look behind him for Alec. But even without a sight, I could feel it that he wasn't here.
"Yeah, but Valentine has the Cup."
My eyes went wide, "What?" I shook my head, trying to process his words, but worry sat in. "Where's Jace? Is he okay?"
There was a small pause from Alec, his eyes seeming to look over my face like he was trying to see if he should say what he wanted too, next. "He went after Valentine by himself. It's like he's totally lost it. I tried to stop him, but he wouldn't listen."
What? Jace ran off to fight Valentine? Alone?
I know this whole thing with Valentine has really messed with his mind, but after last night, I thought it was fixed. Or at least mended for a bit. I knew I should never have left him.
"We have to find him, Alec. We don't know what he's gonna do," I said, walking past him and heading towards the door.
Alec's hand lightly grabbed my wrist, stopping me from moving and making me look at him. "Luke is out looking for him. Jace wants us to stay on the mission. That means we have to find the book."
"But Jace-" I started, but was cut off by Alec.
"Will be fine, I promise." A sigh left my lips and my headed lightly nodded, seeming to break Alec's grip on me. Although I agreed, my heart wanted nothing more than to book it out of there myself and find Jace.
Alec nodded for me to follow him back into the main room where the group had re-gathered, "Come on."
Camille was next to Simon who was standing over a large piece of paper with words scattered around it. "Ready to sign?" She asked Simon.
"Take us to the apartment, give us the book, then you can have your pardon," Simon said, seeming to find his tough guy moment again.
With a smirk that made me rethink following her, Camille said, "I wouldn't have it any other way." She turned, leading the way down to the bottom level of Magnus' place.
The group entered an elevator, seeming to ride it deep underground before the doors opened to reveal a decked out apartment that could fit a normal size apartment in just one room.
Camille led us into the far room, revealing shelves and shelves of books surrounding the walls. Around the shelves seemed to sit little tables to place stuff on.
Even Alec seemed amazed, which was shocking to most of us as his mouth parted in shock, "Wow. You've got a lot of books."
"I've got a lot of time on my hands."
Izzy seemed to shake slightly, "This place creeps me out."
Her brother nodded in agreement, "Yeah. Let's check the perimeter."
Magnus nodded, his eyes glancing around before he gave Alec a reassuring smile. "Good idea. If I know Camille, she'll have a trick or three up her sleeve." With that, Alec and Izzy seemed to both leave the room while Magnus started to walk around the many shelves.
Camille drew a blade, stabbing Simon's hand just enough to draw some blood. The action caused Clary to look at them for the first time. He began to sign the paper with his blood, causing me to cross my arms.
"He did what you asked. Now give us the Book of the White."
Camille took the signed paper, inhaling sharply as she looked at us. "I'd love to, but I can't. I have no idea where it is."
Clary looked at the vampire queen confused and slightly annoyed. "Dot gave it to you though."
Shrugging as she gestured towards the books, Camille said, "I'm sure it's here somewhere. But if the idea was to hide it, telling me would defeat the purpose. Dot must have put it somewhere when I wasn't looking. But I'd start now. I've got four more rooms just like this one."
My mouth opened to speak up about her words but my phone going off in my pocket stopped me. I pulled my phone out, my heart racing as I saw Jace's name. Quickly I stepped off into one of the rows and answered it.
"Jace? Are you okay?"
"Where are you?" Jace's panicked voice said.
"At Camille's apartment, Upper East Side. Alucard building, 13th floor," I said, surprised I remembered the address.
Jace spoke up, sounding like he was jogging somewhere, "You're in danger. Valentine's probably already on the way. You need to leave, now."
I shook my head, my eyes pulling together in confusion. "Jace, we are so close to finding the Book of the White. Alec, Izzy, Magnus, and Clary are here. We'll be fine."
"You need to leave, now," Jace said, seeming to grow slightly annoyed.
A small sigh left my lips, "Jace, I can-" My voice got cut off when my phone was yanked out of my hand and hung up. I quickly turned around, ready to bitch at the person who hung up my phone. Instead, my mouth is left half opened as I face the man behind me.
"Valentine," I breathed out, my feet immediately taking a step back. I catch the four man standing behind him, all of them seeming to stand in front of a purple portal.
"Hello, Faith. I was hoping I'd see you here," Valentine said with a wicked grin.
Suddenly, Clary, Izzy, Simon, and Alec ran in the room, all of them freezing when the spotted Valentine. In seconds, Valentine's men were over at them, grabbing them and holding them back as Valentine continued to stare at me.
"Where's Jace?"
"You think I'd tell you?" I said, venom in my voice.
"You won't have too."
I raise my arm to strike Valentine, but he easily grabs it. He twists me, twisting my arm in the process and causing pain to swim up my arm. A hiss leaves my lips as his grip grows.
"Stop! Don't touch her!" Jace yells, running into the room. Valentine turns and looks at Jace, both he and I catching sight of Jace's blade aimed at us. His eyes only glance at me before returning to the devil himself, seeming to grow angrier.
Valentine releases me, causing me to stumble a step back and hold my arm. It's not broken, but it sure as hell hurt.
Stretching out his arms, Valentine asked Jace with a wide smile, "Finally ready to kill the man who raised you?"
"You abandoned me," Jace hissed back.
"I was protecting you. You weren't ready then, but you've grown. You've become the warrior I've trained you to be," Valentine said, lowering his arms. He nodded at his words, as if agreeing with himself.
Jace lightly smirked, "You trained me well."
"And yet, I still have so much to teach you. I brought you here for a reason. Look, fight me, and watch your friends and your love die." As Valentine speaks, he grabs me again, holding me roughly in one arm. He pulls out his steel, seeming to hover it over my Connection ruin on my arm.
I struggle in Valentine's grip, trying to break away from him.
Jace's eyes go wide as he quickly takes a step towards us, "Stop!"
"See, you are strong, but they..." He nods to my sister and our friends behind him. His head lowers next to my ear, "...Her, makes you weak."
Clary, struggling in one of the men's arms, speaks up. "Let her go. You can have the book. We won't be able to stop you without it."
Valentine looks over at my sister, smiling but not releasing his grip on me. "Ah, Clarissa. So like your mother. Willing to do anything for those that you love. I'm touched, but the book was never part of my plan. I want you to wake up your mother. I know that you'll all join me eventually."
As before, Valentine leans in, seeming to brush his lips against my hair as he whispers, "It's fated."
Jace yells out again, "Stop!" He quickly lowers his blade, his eyes looking into mine worriedly, almost scared. He only seems to add pleading to his eyes as he looks at Valentine. "If I go with you, promise me you won't hurt her."
"You have my word."
I shake my head, my body seeming to shake as well. Valentine's steel near my arm becomes a back burner to me as I focus on Jace. "Jace, don't. This is insane."
"I'm sorry, Faith," Jace says, looking at me sympathetic.
"Jace, what are you doing? You can't be serious! Please! Don't do this!" I beg. My words come to a halt as Valentine releases me and pushes me to the side, near Alec.
Valentine nods towards his men, "Let them go."
Everyone is released, I know that for sure. I know that they leave towards the portal. But my eyes can't seem to watch them and my mind can't seem to care. Instead, everyone part of my being, of my body, of me is facing Jace with watery eyes.
This can't be happening. It's happening to fast. This morning we were... now he's....
"Jace..." I choke out, never leaving his brown and blue mixed eyes. Even when Valentine grab's Jace's arm and tugs him towards the portal, he seems to still stay with my eyes.
There's a moment, a second, when Jace stops, causing Valentine to stop and look back at him. I think he's going to stay, to fight to be by my side. But instead, he says the four words I've been waiting for him to say.
"I love you, Faith."
With those words to linger in my ears, I watch as Jace disappears through the portal. Everything falls into slow motion for a moment. I can't hear myself, but I know I'm calling Jace's name. I can feel my feet pushing me towards the portal, ready to jump through it and join him.
Instead, I'm caught and stopped by Alec who quickly wraps his arms around me and holds me back.
I look back at the male Lightwood with panic in my eyes, "Let me go! What are you doing?"
"Saving your life. If you enter a Portal not knowing where you're going, you'll be stuck in limbo forever."
When my eyes look back at the portal, it's closed, disappearing from the room. In that one action, I feel my heart break. I can latterly feel it aching, seeming to grow heavy and sink into my stomach. My legs to do the same, falling to my knees.
Alec hangs onto me, as if trying to hold me together as he sinks down next to me. My eyes blur with tears as I cry into his arm, my hands gripping onto his shirt tightly.
No, this can't be happening. Jace can't be gone. I want to wake up, I want this to be a horrible nightmare like most things were.
This wasn't part of any of my stories. This was never warned or signed. It just happened, seeming to cause the pain to hurt worst inside of me.
I don't remember moving. I don't remember how I ended up back at the Institute, back in my bed. It felt like one minute I was in Alec's arms, crying, and the next I was hugging Jace's jacket he had left before, crying into that.
The jacket, it still smelt like him, seeming to calm me down just enough that I wasn't a crying mess. But that didn't stop the few tears that would linger down my cheeks and onto my pillow.
Hearing the small click of my door opening make me turn slightly and look over my shoulder. I'm surprised, but barley move when I see what I see. Her sympathetic eyes stare at me as she slowly walks over to the side of the bed.
"Mom?"
My mom, Jocelynn, nods, confirming my thoughts.
Suddenly, I break again, my tears running out in a heavy flow again. My mother see's this and quickly slides into bed next to me. She wraps her arms around me, running her fingers through my hair as she hushes me and holds me close.
Jace can't be gone. I won't let him be gone. I'll find him, and then when I do, I'm never leaving him again.
Ten thousand years later and I've updated lol
Anyways, I know this chapter was more of a filler, but that ending! Even I was tense writing it. None the less, the next chapter will be in Jace's POV, which means that we don't have to wait to long to see our action pact couple reunited again.
Enjoy!
