CHAPTER 26
Author's Pov:
Joshua looked at contact number, "Should I call her?", he whispered when he recalled Jiwoo's words.
"And guess what, I am sure you are eager to explain her it is not like what she thinks"
Joshua got up from his bed, "What should I do?". Just then there was a knock on the door, "Joshua", his mother came inside.
"Me and your Appa are going for a business trip for 3 weeks, I forgot to tell you. You have grown up, so you can stay alone", his mother said. Joshua nodded trying to hide his happiness, "Fine".
As his mother closed the door, Joshua jumped, "Finally I can be myself for 3 weeks". He laid down on his bed rolling on it.
Next Day:
Joshua entered the class and directly went to Haeun. "Good morning", Joshua said. Haeun opened her eyes, "What Good morning? Today's morning wasn't good at all".
Joshua frowned, "Why? Fell from you bed?". Haeun shook her head, "Just go and mind your business".
"Well my main business is annoying you, so..."
"Well this business is not gonna feed your stomach, find a proper one".
"Why are you so annoyed? Did someone say something to you? Tell me who it is, I'll give them a proper lesson".
Haeun rolled her eyes, "No one said anything to me. Please go". Joshua sat beside her.
"You didn't have proper sleep last night?", he asked. Haeun again shook her head, "Why are you so curious?", she snapped.
Joshua's eyes widen while Haeun's face turned pale, "Sorry for that". She turned away from him holding her stomach.
"Is it because of cramps?", he softly asked. Haeun stared him and slowly nodded. "Stay here", he firmly said getting up. He hurried out of the classroom leaving Haeun bewildered.
"Where did he go?", Haeun whispered resting back. Moments later he came back with a small bag in hand. "Haeun", he softly called her name.
"Here, I brought some chocolates, hope this helps. If you need anything, let me know".
Haeun's eyes softened as she looked at him, "Thank you", she murmured, "I didn't expect-".
"No need to thank me", he interrupted. He sat beside her, "Do you need anything else?". Haeun shook her head.
Joshua opened a chocolate packet, "Here you go", he said feeding her. "You are weirdly kind this time", Haeun chuckled.
Joshua smiled, "You want something else? I'll bring it. I tried searching for hot pack but couldn't find it".
He opened his bag, "So I brought this hot water bottle, hope this helps". He adjusted the hot water bottle against her stomach. “Better?”.
Haeun nodded, touched by his thoughtfulness. "Much better. Thank you, Joshua".
He leaned closer, his voice barely audible. "You know, I’ve annoyed you a lot, but I promise I’ll be annoyingly helpful from now on".
Her heart fluttered as he smiled. Haeun turned away from him. "Are you still not feeling good?", he asked.
Haeun shook her head, "No, I am feeling totally fine. I don't want you to see me red checks".
"Oh, are you blushing because of me?", he asked poking her shoulder with his fingers. "Nope, my harmones are just acting up", Haeun replied hiding her face.
He laughed, "I am telling you, Haeun. You have started to like me, soon you will be head over heels for me".
Haeun rolled her eyes, "I don't fall for guys who already have someone in their life".
Joshua frowned, "And who is that?". Haeun glared at him, "Don't you remember? Jiwoo? Yesterday your father announced that you both will engaged after you both are graduated?".
"Well, congratulations for that. You had always liked her, didn't you? That's why you looked so happy when you talked with her", Haeun said. Joshua looked down, "I'll explain-".
Haeun laughed, "You don't need to explain it Joshua. We are happy as long as you are happy".
Before Joshua could say anything, the classes started. Joshua sighed and went back to his place.
Time Skip:
Joshua glanced at Haeun who was sleeping. He sat beside her, "Haeun, it's lunch break. Do you want something?".
Haeun groaned and nodded. "Hmm, I'll come Eomma. Just two more minutes". She held his hand and kissed it, "I'll come in 10 minutes".
Joshua felt his heart skip a beat. "Haeun, wake up. I am Joshua not Eomma", he whispered brushing away a strand of hair from her forehead.
Haeun opened her eyes, "What are you doing- oh wait I am in school", she looked around. "Sorry for acting stupid. Oh my gosh, I slept in the class, did someone say something?", Haeun stood up causing the bottle to fall.
Joshua shook his head picking up the bottle. "No one said anything, don't worry", he replied. Haeun sat down, "Thank you for this". Joshua smiled, "Let me know if you need any help". Haeun nodded.
Yerin came running to their class, "let's go". Joshua and Haeun got up following her. "What happened?", Joshua asked. Yerin looked at them, "I don't know but Seungcheol asked me to call all of you in auditorium".
"Why is it always so sudden?", Soonyoung asked joining them. "It is always sudden, do you think you will get a prior notice for urgent meetings?", Junhui said.
All five of them ran towards auditorium. As they entered they saw rest of them sitting on the stage. "What's wrong? What happened? Is there any huge problem?", Soonyoung asked.
Jihoon clicked his tongue, "Someone from here has betrayed us". The five frowned, "Who?".
Jeonghan pointed at Joshua, "You". He frowned sitting beside him, "Mr. Yoon Jeonghan can you please enlight me?".
Jeonghan nodded, "Of course, I will. Seungcheol tell them".
"You didn't tell us that you and Jiwoo will be engaged", Seungcheol said, "Out of all the girls, her?".
Joshua bit his lips, "It's nothing like that, I was about to tell you. Jiwoo isn't what you think like".
"We all know what she did yesterday", Junhui said. Joshua looked at him, "It wasn't like that, I don't know how to explain. She didn't mean bad but she had to cause she was caught while keeping back the keys".
"We know that she was caught while sneaking back the keys but why did she had to lock you both inside?", Jeonghan asked.
Joshua blushed before looking at Haeun who immediately understood what he meant. "Y-Yerin, I need to go to wash room. I'll be back", Haeun whispered slowly moving back. She sat and hid behind a chair.
"Uhh, because I don't know how to tell you. No, like not in a wrong way", Joshua stuttered trying to find proper words.
"Damn, you guys are acting like she actually saw you kissing there and locked in because she wanted you to have some time together", Junhui joked.
"Yes, that's right", words slipped out of Joshua's mouth as everyone snapped their head towards him.
Haeun facepalmed, slowly peeking. "Did you just kiss her?", Soonyoung shouted. Haeun smiled to herself thinking she got a protective brother but her smile dropped instantly after hearing what he said,
"Wow, you both finally kissed. Woah", He jumped from here and there, "They finally kissed but wait that's wrong".
Seungcheol sighed, "Finally, you realised".
Joshua shook his head, "We didn't kiss".
"Then why did you just agree to whatever Junhui said"
Joshua gulped, "We weren't kissing, it just looked like that but we weren't kissing".
"But why are you blushing?".
"It's nothing-"
Just then Haeun's phone rang, echoing in the auditorium. Haeun took her phone muting it but it was already too late. All of them were looking at her.
"Uhh, hey guys. I just came back from wash room and my ring fell down, I was searching for it", Haeun gave an excuse.
"You don't have any rings, Haeun. You mostly don't like wearing them to school", Soonyoung said wiggling his brows, "You were secretly hearing us, admit it".
"Why is everyone trying to gaslight me?", Haeun stood up, "I am not admitting anything, I wasn't hiding to hear your talks nor do I have developed feelings for Joshua".
"How is Joshua related to this?", Soonyoung asked. Haeun stared at him, "Sorry for this". She blinked her eyes, "We actually didn't kiss, the scene was just misleading but guess what Joshua already a girl in his life. So basically the first person to get married will be him".
"Not again", Joshua sighed as they got new thing to tease him, he wanted to tell the truth but the promise he made to Jiwoo, he couldn't break that. "One day all these promises will create a huge problem".
