Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Scott's POV
"Alright, so we got a plan, now we just need to figure out when," I said, causing everyone to nod.
Lydia spoke up, joining everyone at the table of Derek's home and setting down her laptop. "Lucas' phone just turned back on, it looks like they may be heading out soon."
"Alright, now we just have to figure out what road they're taking out of town," Derek said.
"I think I know," A voice said behind me, making everyone either look up or turn. Stiles entered the room, making Lydia run over, hugging him. I walked over, starring at Stiles for a minute before hugging him.
Realization hit and I pulled away, "Luna?"
"She attacked Lucas and one of his guys, letting me get away. They still have her. I'm sorry, Scott."
I shook my head, "No, it's okay. I'm just glad your back."
Chris walked up, "You said you know what road their taking?"
Stiles nodded, "Yeah. In fact, I know exactly where they're going."
We had a plan, time, and now a location.
Grabbing everything we needed, we headed out, Malia explaining the plan to Stiles as we went. Ounce we arrived at the road Lucas would be taking to leave, we sat everything up that we needed.
Stiles, Lydia, Malia, Chris, and Derek met me by the edge of the woods ounce they were finished.
I faced all of them as they looked at me, waiting for me to say something.
"We've done this before, guys. We fight the bad and we save the good. And Luna's apart of this pack, she's our friend, and right now our friend needs us. We have to stop them from taking her."
Argent put a hand on my shoulder, nodding, "And we will."
Derek spoke up, "We know the plan and we stick to it. If you get hurt, you take out as many guys as you can before your dead."
"Wow, great speech Derek," Stiles said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
I looked at Lydia and Stiles, "You two know what to do when they cross the line. Be ready for anything, we don't know how many werewolves they have."
Stiles and Lydia nodded, Lydia turning to get to her place while Stiles put a hand on my shoulder, "We'll get your mate, Scott. She'll be fine."
Sucking in a breath, I nodded, hoping he was right.
Stiles and Lydia wen to their spots in the woods while Argent stayed hidden in the woods on the other side of the road. Derek, Malia, and I ducked down, hiding in wait for the plan to unfold.
As predicted, the two black SUV's appeared, driving down the road and right towards our trap.
The front SUV drove through the hidden spikes on the ground, causing its tires to blow and swerve to a stop. Stiles threw out the second spikes behind the last SUV, causing that one to get its tires blown as well as he tried to back up and leave.
Men with guns and werewolves jumped out of the SUV's, causing us to strike. Malia, Derek and I blended it with the night, killing and hurting anyone that came close to us, causing bullets to fly all over the place. Some were from the enemy and somewhere from Argent's automatic weapons hidden on the wood property line.
I focused on anyone in front of me, but my eyes continuously went to Stiles and Lydia who were opening the back of the first SUV with Argent guarding their backs. They were in search of Luna, making me on edge until I would see they had her.
My focus returned to one of the werewolves I was fighting, breaking his leg and tossing him to the side like he was a rag doll.
"Scott! Scott!" Stiles yelled, making me look over to him and Lydia. "She's not here! Luna's not here!"
Panic filled me and I ran over to them, looking in the SUV they were just looking into.
"No, we knew their rout. This was the only road they could take to leave the town. She has to be here," I said, my heart racing as my eyes looked around in a panic.
Most of the men and women were either killed or tied up by Derek and Argent, leaving the place quiet.
Luna had to be here, I could feel it that she was near-by, but she was just too much out of sight.
My phone rang, causing me to look at it and see Luna's name pop up. Quickly I answered it, "Luna, where are you?"
Lucas' voice came through the phone sounding calm and enjoyable. "We're around."
Rising my eyes to look straight ahead, everyone looking at me in wonder, I did my best not to break the phone in my hand. "Where is she, Lucas?"
"Turn around," He said.
Walking passed the last SUV, I walked a few feet down the road before seeing a black car parked in the middle of the road. Lucas had Luna in front of it, his hand gripped around her neck as they both faced me. Fear and panic was in Luna's eyes as she looked at me.
I hung up the phone, taking a few more steps until I was close enough for Lucas to hear me without yelling.
"You and you're friends should turn around and go home, Scott," Lucas said with a villain like smirk on his lips.
"Not without Luna," I said, my hands forming fists in anger.
The group joined me, standing either by me or behind me. Stiles, who stood next to me, spoke up to Lucas, "How'd you know we were coming?"
Lucas shrugged, "I took a guess after you escaped. Sent those cars ahead of me to take any damage, looks like it was a good thing I did. Deucalion will be sad to hear his favorite werewolf, Scott McCall, was killed by my hands."
"Not as happy as we'll be when we kill you," I said with venom in my voice.
I watched as Lucas' claws extended, piercing Luna's neck and causing her to whimper in pain. "You really think you can kill me and take Luna alive? She's as much of a monster as I am. You should see what she can do, quiet the killer."
"Shut up," Derek said, clearly angry as well.
Lucas chuckled, "What? Now you have others fighting for you? I thought Luna's mate would be braver than that."
"I don't need them to stop you. Let Luna go and fight me yourself," I said, my claws extending at my sides.
Sighing and shaking his head, Lucas said, "I really wish I could believe you Scott. But what's stopping your friend from helping you or taking Luna away?"
"They won't need too," I said, ready to fight this guy ounce and for all.
Lucas paused for a second, looking down at Luna and giving her a kiss on the cheek which made her yank her head away. He released his claws from her and pushed her forward towards me. My eyes met hers and hope filled me while Luna still looked nervous. She shook her head, as if telling me not to do this, but I had no choice.
"You want to save your precious mate? Then you're going to have to kill me," Lucas said, making me focus my attention on him.
Suddenly there was the sound of a gunshot, making everyone jump and Luna to duck her head. I turned behind me, seeing Argent with his gun raised.
"He talks to damn much," He said, lowering his gun.
I turned, looking to see Lucas had a bullet wound in his chest. It wasn't enough to kill him by any means, but it gave me the chance to force my attack.
"Luna, move!" I yelled, causing her to run towards the woods as I charged for Lucas.
A roar left my lips as I jumped up and slashed my claws downward, scratching Lucas' face. He quickly recovered though, raising and slashing his own claws at my stomach.
We each had claw marks and blood staining and ripping our clothes as we fought. It seemed we were evenly matched until Lucas grabbed my arm, turning and breaking it which caused a yell to leave my lips before he threw me over him and I landed hard on the cement.
I groaned, holding my arm as I looked up at Lucas who was quick to pin me down by my throat. His clawed hand was raised, ready to rip my throat out.
"You lost Scott McCall. Luna will be mine and you will be nothing but a memory."
Suddenly, Luna jumped on Lucas' back, her hands wrapped around his head while her legs locked around his waist. This caused him to stumble back away from me and burry his claws into her arms to get her too release. She yelled in anger and pain but didn't let go, instead she held on tighter. Her hands gripped his head and turned it with such force that even someone without werewolf hearing could hear the snap of his bones.
Lucas' body fell to the ground, causing Luna to land perfectly on her feet and step over him. She was breathing heavily as she looked down at Lucas' dead body.
"I don't belong to anyone but myself," She said, venom in her voice.
Slowly I stood up, the shocked expression on my face matched everyone else behind Luna.
She slowly raised her head, meeting my eyes with shame in hers as if she was shameful of what she just had done. I realized though, by the look in her eyes and her mind, that it wasn't the kill that she was shameful of, but at how easy it was. She snapped his neck so easily that it looked like it came second nature to her.
My feet carried me towards her, my arm still hurting but bearable now.
Luna took a step back, shaking her head, "Don't. He's right, I am a monster. But you're not, and I don't want to make you one."
I didn't stop walking towards her until I was right in front of her, able to see the tears in her eyes as she looked at me. My good arm rose and I touched her cheek, "You're not a monster. You're a badass."
She smiled, letting out a breath of relief mixed with a small laugh as she glanced at the ground before rising her head to look at me. "Deucalion could still come for me, though. Especially when he finds out what happened."
Derek stepped towards us, speaking up, "I don't think he will. This was a warning to him to let him know that if he steps anywhere near this town, he'll end up like the rest of them."
Luna and I looked at Derek, before my eyes went to her again, "Your safe Luna. You don't have to run anymore. Your home, with us," I said, looking at the pack behind her. Our pack.
She looked at each one of them before turning to look at me. Her hand rose, touching my cheek before she kissed me, causing me to hold her waist. She pulled away, leaning her forehead against mine, "You're my home, Scott McCall."
I kissed Luna back before holding her close to me in a hug, sucking in a breath of relief.
Argent and Derek took care of the bodies, making sure to send a message to Deucalion not to come for Luna or any of us.
Luna texted her Aunt to tell her she could return now and that she was safe ounce again. Until her Aunt would return, she remained with my mom and me, being welcome into the family like before.
The next day, the sun rose, shinning into my bedroom. Usually it would wake me up, but I hadn't fallen asleep anyways. Instead, I found myself starring at Lune as she laid next to me, her eyes on me too. Both of our hands played with the others, a comfortable silence filling us.
"What will happen now?" Luna asked, her eyes on our hands.
"Well, mom said you can stay with us until your Aunt comes back."
She smiled, "I meant with you and me... and the pack." Her smiled faded, "I've done things I'm not proud of Scott, and I'm scared that I may do them again."
"Hey, you're not a monster. You're a survivor. Everything you've done has been to survive. You had to run from any life you ever had, now you don't have too. Your life is here, with all of us. With me. And I'm not letting you go."
Luna met my eyes, smiling, "How did I get you?"
"We always had each other, it just took us a while to get here."
We both stared at each other before she sat up, crawling so she was sitting on top of me, looking down. "I love you, Scott."
"I love you too, Luna."
She leaned down, giving me a kiss I gladly returned. No more running, no more worrying, just Luna and me.
That's the end. I had originally thought of making this into a series and following the show but decided against it right now. I go through stages of want to write in a certain show but eventually, it does die down after I've started writing in it.
If I ever decide to write a sequel, I'll let you know, otherwise, I hope you enjoyed the book! If you have any questions on what Luna and Scott's futures were, let me know because I literally have their whole life planned out in a way lol.
