Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Hurrying into the kitchen, my hand swiped up my loaded book bag. "Alright, I'm off," I said to my Aunt Kathy who was sitting in the living room.

Standing up, my Aunt walked into the kitchen, offering, "Do you want me to take you?"

I smiled at her words and shook my head, "It's not that far, I'll enjoy the walk."

If it was anyone else, my Aunt would have thought they were crazy, but it being me, she knew that it was a moment of peace and freedom.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, besides, aren't you heading off to work?" I asked, hinting at the fact that she should be finding a job. It was a hesitation at first for my Aunt to find a job, but our money wouldn't last forever.

Aunt Kathy walked over to me, giving me a hug, "Okay, good luck. Text me."

"I will love you."

"Love you too," My Aunt responded before watching me walk out the door.

The walk to the school was about fifteen to twenty minutes, but it was nice. I will probably look into getting a car or a bike or something to get me to school a lot faster because I knew I wouldn't be walking every day.

Walking into school, I found myself being crowded by kids who had just arrived, were at their lockers, or heading to class to wait. The atmosphere was new to me, feeling light and happy. So many friends were meeting up in small groups, talking and gossiping about something that had happened over the weekend. My ears picked up on little snip-bits of it but soon tuned everyone out as I headed to the office.

"Hi, I'm here to pick up my classes, Luna Haralson."

The office lady looked through her many papers on her desk before pulling out the small paper in success. "Here we are!" She handed me the paper, "Would you like someone to show you to your locker and classrooms?"

"No, I think I'll be okay, thanks though," I said, smiling at the women before exiting the office. I began my search for my locker, finding it on the first floor rather quickly. I piled in the books I didn't need right now before checking my schedule.

1 Physics- Mr. Harris (w/ Lydia)

2 History- Mr. Yukimura (w/ Scott and Stiles)

3 Lunch

4 Business Class (w/ Lydia and Malia)

5 English (W/Scott, Lydia, and Stiles)

Start on a low and end on a high I guess. I always hated science. History and English were my two strengths, Math was usually next and Science was dead last.

I headed off to my first class which wasn't as bad as I thought, but the teacher was defiantly strict. Thankfully though, Mr. Harris didn't make me stand in front of the whole class and introduce myself, but instead, he just pointed at me and said my name.

The next class was History, which I was excited about. I found myself grabbing my books rather quickly before heading into class. Immediately, my eyes glanced around the classroom in hopes of finding an empty seat. Before I could find a seat though, my eyes settled on a familiar-looking boy.

Scott McCall.

Scott was talking to another kid whose back was to me. They seemed deep in conversation before Scott moved his eyes away from his friend. His eyes landed on me like he knew I was there even when I walked in.

I watched his mouth part in shock, surprised to see me standing there in his History class.

Pulling my eyes away, I walked down one of the other isles and took a seat in the middle row. I could feel Scott's eyes on me and my ears picked up on him and the other guy's conversation.

"That's her," Scott whispered, pointing me out to his friend.

"Who?"

"The girl I ran into in the woods yesterday. The one I told you about."

I did my best not to look as to not make it seem like I was listening to them. But I couldn't help but tilt my head a little and notice Scott's friend looking at me, tilting his head a little.

"Huh, not what I was expecting."

Well, what was he expecting?

Before anything else could be said between the two, Mr. Yukimura walked in, greeting the class. The entire class, I could feel Scott's eyes on me, making me do my best not to turn and look at him as well.

When the bell rang, I quickly grabbed my papers before Scott or his friend could say anything. The last thing I wanted to do was talk in the middle of a classroom about what I am or what had happened.

I'm not even sure what happened.

Opening my locker, I loaded in the previous books and emptied my hands as lunch was next. My heart began to race slightly as I felt eyes on me.

Turning away from my locker, I looked down the hallway, finding Scott looking at me as he talked with his friends. He looked like he was going to walk over, but his friend stopped him.

My ears picked up on his words, "You don't even know her. She could be a killer or a rogue wolf or-"

"Or like me," Scott said, looking at his friend. They stared at each other for a moment before Scott sighed and turned to his locker. His eyes looked back to me, watching me for a moment.

Suddenly, I felt my eyes turn a blue color and watched as Scott's turned to a red. Both of us turned away, getting our control back.

What was happening to me? This was the second time this had happened. I was never one to lose control, especially in public. Yet, I found myself losing that control in the eye line of this werewolf. Of Scott McCall.

Shaking my head and sucking in a breath, I grabbed my lunch bag before heading to the lunch tables outside. Every spot seemed to be filled, all with friends laughing and talking about who knows what. I even found Scott with his friends, talking about something big just by the look on their faces.

Once again, Scott's eyes pulled away from his friends, finding me in the middle of the crowd of people.

No, not again, not here.

I quickly turned and ventured back inside. I knew all the teachers would be in the teacher lounge eating their lunches, leaving their classrooms open.

Walking into one of the empty classrooms, I planted my butt in one of the seats and sighed. Digging into my bag, I pulled out my sandwich and unwrapped it before taking a bite.

I had gotten so used to not making friends that I didn't even give it a chance this time. But if we had to move quickly or someone came for me, then I didn't want to have to try and explain myself or leave someone feeling lonely.

The sound of the door opening made me quickly look up and watch as Scott entered. He paused for a moment before he made his way over to me. He pulled over a seat next to me and sat down, setting his book bag down.

"Hey."

"Hi," I said, my eyes on my sandwich.

There was a minute of silence before Scott smiled nervously, "It's smart, bringing your lunch. The school lunch is only good on Fridays."

I nodded, finding myself growing nervous. I knew Scott wanted to address everything and was just trying to figure out what to say.

"Scott," I said, turning and looking at him as I sat my sandwich down. He quickly straightened up and looked at me, waiting for what I was going to say. "You and I both know you didn't come here to talk about lunch."

"No, I didn't," He mumbled, relaxing a bit. "How long have you been a werewolf?"

So, diving right into it? Fine by me.

"For about three years roughly, but I knew about them before, amongst other things." I paused for a moment, realizing I wasn't going to be able to get out of this. Might as well play the game till I can leave it. "What about you?"

"3 years too, though I find myself still learning everything."

"Yeah, they don't give you a "How To Be A Werewolf" book when you first get bit. I mean, the books not called that anyways."

Scott chuckled at my words. He paused for a moment, "So you and your family-"

"My aunt Kathy, just my aunt. She's human but she's collected so many books about creatures I swear she could be any of them."

"That's nice to have."

"Yeah, sometimes," I mumble, looking down at my hands.

I was grateful when Scott noticed my change in emotions and changed the subject. "So, are you going to the game tonight?"

"What game?" I asked as I crunched my empty bag in my hands.

"Lacrosse, it's just a pregame tonight but a lot of people come because there's nothing better to do."

I nodded, "Oh."

Suddenly the bell rang above our heads, telling us lunch was over and it was time to get ready for our next class.

"Well I better get going, I have Business class next."

"Oh, Lydia and Malia have that too."

I looked at Scott questionable, only recognizing Lydia's name from my first class. Scott picked up on this rather quickly and chuckled, "I'll text them to introduce themselves to you. You'll like them."

"Thanks, but that's okay. Bye," I said, giving him a small wave as I walked out of the classroom, hearing him whisper a bye in response.

As I walked away, I felt bad for how I acted. Even my mind was telling me how Bitchy I probably sounded towards the end there. But, I found myself getting comfortable with Scott, telling him more than I ever intended even though he's a werewolf too. I pulled myself back, but part of me was screaming at myself not to do that. I liked Scott, I liked talking with him and the way he made me feel. But even then my mind recalled the first time I left my friends to go on the run with my aunt. It was heartbreaking for both sides.

The new rule, stay away from Scott McCall and his friends. You don't have to be a bitch, just don't get close.

That new rule lasted a whole ten minutes because when I walked into Business class and took a seat towards the back, two girls were walking up to me. The one I recognized to be Lydia, noticeable by her dress and red hair. Standing next to her was a brown-haired girl who looked almost nervous to be there, I figured she was Malia. Her sent was faintly one I had smelt before, digging out of my mind to remind me of a Ware-Coyote.

"Hi, I'm Lydia and this is Malia. Your Luna, right? You and I have Physics together."

Damn it, Scott.

I raised my hand as if giving them a small wave, "Hi," I said, trying to cut any future conversation from happening.

Lydia pushed onward though, "Where are you from?"

"A little bit of everywhere," I said, not wanting to explain how many places I've lived and called home.

"Same here," Malia said, making Lydia turn and look at Malia confused.

"You've only been in Beacon Hills, Malia."

"Well, sometimes I didn't know where I was," Malia said, shrugging as she tilted her head to her friend.

Shaking her head and returning to me sadly, Lydia returned her smile, "You should join us at the game tonight."

A scuff left my lips, unnoticed to me until I saw Lydia's smile drop. "Thanks, but, I'm not looking to join any sports or anything."

"Same," Malia nodded, making Lydia eye her friend again.

Thankfully, before either one of them could say another word, the teacher walked in and started class. I was slightly irritated when Malia sat in front of me and Lydia sat next to her. I could feel Lydia's eyes drift over to me, pull out her phone, and text something, before focusing back on the teacher.

The class went too fast, making the bell ringing surprise me. I quickly packed my stuff up to head to my final class when Lydia walked up to me again, "What class do you have next?"

I swiped out my paper from my pocket and eyed it, "Uh, English."

"So do I, and Scott and Stiles," Lydia stated. "We should walk together," She said, smiling as she started to walk. My eyes rolled slightly in irritation before sighing and joining Lydia in the hallway.

"Whose Stiles?" I asked, figuring that it was good to know names. They didn't need to know about me, but they were fine about me knowing them

"Scott's friend since he was like 5," Lydia said, reminding me of the boy that Scott was in the hallway before.

I was relieved when we took a small right and there was the classroom, cutting the conversation. I made sure to split from Lydia the second I entered the classroom, sitting towards the back again. I started digging out anything I need for class or trying to look busy in hopes of no one noticing me.

Then, that familiar scent breathed into my nose and I found myself looking up. There was Scott, walking in with his friend, Stiles. His head immediately turned, looking around for a minute before settling on me. He smiled almost shyly, raising his hand and giving me a small wave.

Damn it!

Stiles grabbed Scott, looking annoyed as he grumbling something under his breath. He pulled his friend towards the middle of the classroom for them to sit, two seats in front of me. Lydia was in front of Scott, making me relieved I was alone again.

Though my ears started to pick up on their conversation as Stiles, Scott and Lydia leaned over and were talking.

"You need to calm down Stiles, I don't think she's that bad," Scott said.

"That's what you say about everyone, I mean look how many times we've friended someone, and then oops, someone's dead or out to kill us," Stiles said, sounding almost paranoid.

Jesus, where was I, and who were these people?

"This is different, I just... I just feel it. Remember what I told you happened in the woods and the hallway? I've never lost control like that."

"Which makes her even more dangerous," Stiles exclaimed.

Lydia leaned over, eyeing the two boys, "Guys, you know she can probably hear you, right?"

All three of them turned around and looked back at me, making me quickly advert my eyes and look down.

Well, that didn't go as planned.

I found my distracted eyes and mind continuously going to Scott, unable to pull away from him. I caught sight of Scott turning his head only slightly towards me, making me wonder if he was having the same problem concentrating.

Either way, I made it to the bell, quickly packing myself up before rushing out of the room. When I approached my locker, I found myself stopping to breathe before opening it. I loaded in my books, thanking the world that I didn't have any homework today and no test to study.

Then that scent forced its way into my nose, causing me to close my eyes for a moment and suck in a breath. I felt my eyes change color, causing me to shake my head.

I closed my locker just as he was approaching me, one hand holding his backpack while the other was hanging by his side. "Hi," He said with a bright smile.

"Hi," I said, feeling slightly annoyed. Not because of him, but because of this whole control thing.

"Um, I know Lydia mentioned that we have a game tonight, well pre-game tonight. It's more of a practice, but you can still come."

Unlike when Lydia asked, I found myself wanting to say yes. I wanted to go and watch Scott, support him on the stands. Why I felt like that, I didn't know.

"Yeah, she did. I'll, uh, I'll have to check."

"Okay," Scott said, seeming to hold onto that small bit of hope excitedly. The way he smiled made me smile at him. "Well, then I guess I may see you tonight."

I nodded, "I guess so."

With that, I turned and walked away, part of myself being left with Scott just to hang onto him a little longer.

I love the relationship between Stiles, Scott, and Luna for some reason. And I already love the pack's relationship with her.

Hope you're enjoying the book so far!
