Chapter 12

Stiles

“Dr. Gardner's not back until next week, do you want to try waiting for one of the urgent care doctors or” before the lady at the desk in the hospital could finish Scott's mom walked up to me “Stiles are you all right” “I don't know. I guess, I guess not really” I said “all right, kiddo come with me” Melissa said as we walked into one of the rooms. “What's wrong” she asked me “blackouts, but not for that long and sleepwalking, which I used to do a lot as a kid. Um Also having some really bad anxiety” I said.

“Panic attacks” Melissa asked me “yeah, a couple, oh, and I temporarily lost the ability to read, but that might have had more to do with this giant magic tree and a whole human sacrifice thing” I said. “I recall something vaguely about that, yes; how many hours of sleep are you getting” “eight” I said “a night” Melissa said as she went to write it down.

“In the last three days, yeah, definitely eight” I said thinking about it for a second “been feeling irritable” “yeah, possibly to the point of homicide” I said thinking of how I could have written the note to kill Kira and Star. “Impulsive behavior” “more than my usual” I asked “hard to tell” “vivid dreams during the day” Melissa asked “okay, basically all of the above. Do you know what this is” I asked her.

She looked at what she wrote down “I think so” she grabbed a needle “uh, what's that” I asked “do you trust me” she asked me as she maid me lay down. “When you're not holding a needle” I said a little nervous “its a sedative” “why'd you give me a sedative” I asked as she put the needle in my arm “because you, Stiles, are one profoundly sleepdeprived young man. You need rest and you need it now”.

“Okay, how long's it take to Oh” I said as I felt the effect and I started to get tired “not long at all. Get some rest” Melissa said turning off the light and covering me up “thanks, Mom” I said not really knowing what I was saying.

Star

Scott and Kira called me over to Scott's house because they wanted me over there in case something where to happen. I walked in just as Scott and Kira where walking in “hey could you lock the door” Scott asked me “sure” I said locking the door behind me. “We're running out of time” Kira said “I know, but Allison, her dad and Isaac are working on something that could help” Scott said.

“I don't want to sound unpositive or anything, but you really think that's going to keep them out” Kira asked. “Actually, they have a security system” I said “things happened a couple of weeks ago, a lot of things, and we had my boss help make a few changes to the house” Scott said “your boss? Do you work for a security company or something” Kira asked.

“No, he's a veterinarian” Scott said as we went up to his room “you had a vet put in your alarm” “yeah, sort of, but I can't arm it. Only my mom can” Scott said “where's she” Kira asked “don't worry, she'll be here” Scott said. “I'm going to go back down stairs and check everything” I said giving Scott and Kira some time to themselves. As I maid sure everything was locked I heard someone open the door, thinking it was Melissa I walked into the kitchen.

“Hey Melis” I stopped when I saw Scott's dad, he stopped when he saw me, looking shocked. “Star” he asked me just as Scott and Kira came down “dad, what are you doing here and why do you still have a key” Scott asked a little mad “funny you mention keys. Because while I have a key to this house, I'm not exactly sure how you got a key to my office”. Scott's dad turned his computer around and showed us a pitcher of Kira and Scott.

Scott and Kira where silent “let me help you out here. This kind of thing usually begins with something along the lines of "it's not what you think" or, "I can explain."”. “Dad, let me help you out, you need to leave” Scott said “I will, with a satisfactory explanation” Scott's dad said. “Go get a warrant” Scott said “I don't need a warrant, I'm your father”. “No, you're a gene donor, I got my hair color from you and that's all I got. So you're not allowed to play tough dad with me” Scott said as Melissa walked in.

“Hey, what's going on” Melissa asked “maybe one of you should explain” Scott's said looking at us “Scott its sun down” I said as he looked out the window as the sun set. “Scott, who the hell is this” Scott's dad asked as he walked in the living room where stood one of the dark spirits. “Dad, no” Scott yelled “wait” I called but as I said that he got hit with a small spire and fell to the ground.

“Dad” Scott called as more dark spirits came and Melissa polled Scott's dad aside “Mom, the ash” Scott called as we fought them then just like that the door swung open and Derek cam in. After a few more minuets the twins came in. After awhile of fighting I kicked the last spirit outside “mom, now, do it now” Scott called as she spread the sand over the door and they couldn't get in.

Derek walked over to me “what are you doing here” he asked me almost mad “Scott called me over, why are you so upset about this” I asked him. “Because I didn't know what you where doing” “what do you mean, what exactly would I be doing”. Derek was silent “Derek tell me” I asked. He sighed “I was thinking you where talking with” “with who” I asked a little mad “with the dark spirits”.

I looked at him shocked “what” I asked not believing him “why and the world would you think that” I asked him starting to yell now. “Because they listen to you, when you tell them to run they run, when you tell them to kill they kill” Derek said. “That's not true” I said and got in his face “and I'll prove it”.

I walked over to the door where the dark spirits stood and looked at me “hopefully this doesn’t work” I whispered to myself before saying something to them. “Take a step back from the door” I said as they just stared at me “see what I mean, nothing” I said turning around to Derek and everyone. “Try it with your Alpha side” Derek said as I turned back around and my eyes changed to the red “take a step back from the door” I said as they took a step back. I was thinking it was just luck, so I asked them to do something else.

“Show me your face” I said as they just stood there “show me” I said almost a whisper as they slowly moved there hands up to there masks and took it off, showing the blackness and darkness behind them. I took a step back as my eyes changed back to normal and was surprised and even a little scared. “Its impossible” I whispered to myself.

Everyone was silent until Derek broke it and changed the subject “all of the baseboards are ash wood” he asked Scott. “Uh yeah, it was Deaton's idea and where the hell did you come from” Scott asked “I've been following you” Derek said “for how long” “all day” Derek said like it was nothing. All of a sudden Scott's mom came down the stairs and into the room as one of the twins said “Scott, this isn't good we need to call for backup”. “Why we have an alpha, an alpha above alphas, and 3 werwolf's against them” Scott said.

“Scott” Melissa said as Scott walked over to him “how bad is he” I heard Scott ask his mom “from the way that his arm is rotated, the tendon looks torn. He could be on his way to a collapsed lung” “mom, those things, they're not going to leave until the sun's up” Scott said. “At the rate he's bleeding, he's not gonna make it that long, we got to get him to the hospital. Should we call Stiles's Dad” Melissa asked “I don't know” Scott said.

I looked over as the twins stood next to Kira as she watched the dark spirits “it's Kira, right, you going to tell us what you are” one of the twins asked “what, what do you mean” Kira asked. One of the twins grabbed her hand and went to put it threw the doorway but it wouldn't go threw “Aiden watch, see that, she can't go through it either”. “So, what are you” Derek interrupted them “she's a kitsune, idiots, use your eyes. You can see it all around her, the younger ones give off an aura, she just hasn't learned how to conceal it yet. She probably doesn't know what kind she is either”.

Derek walked over to Kira and the twins as Scott joined us “there are 13 kinds of kitsune. Celestial, wild, ocean, thunder, but there is one, a dark kitsune. They call it void” Derek said as Scott looked at him then at Kira “it's not you, it can't be, what I saw around you, it didn't look evil”. “But isn't that what a shape-shifter does, isn't that why a kitsune is called the trickster spirit, it's supposed to trick you. How are you so sure, how do you know I'm not the bad guy” Kira said as I listened to them.

“I've seen the bad guys, and you're not one of them” Scott said “I wasn't going to hurt her, not yet” one of the twins said. “Why do you think we're here, Derek, for a study group, we're here to protect Scott. We're trying to fight for him” the twins said “I'm sure you are. I'm sure you'd kill for him. But are you willing to die for him” Derek asked.

We sat around for a little bit until we heard a noise making the house shake “what are they doing” Scott asked “testing for weaknesses” I said as they started to bust threw it “guys, we have a problem” I said a little scared.

Melissa
“I need to speak to Scott” Scott's dad said “you're kidding, right” I asked “don't patronize me Melissa. You know why, you know why I really came back, don't you” “and as usual your timing sucks. You're not talking to him, not like this. So, you stay awake and we're gonna get you out of here as fast as we can” I said reassuring him but deep down inside I didn't think it was very possible.

Scott

“Allison, please tell me that you have something, they're here, they're trying to get in and it looks like they're gonna' be able to do it” I said into the phone talking with Allison. “Okay, okay listen, they're Japanese demons they're looking for someone possessed. Someone with a dark spirit attached to them” I said to everyone after I got off the phone with Allison. “How'd you know that” I asked as Scott ignored me and looked at Kita “they won't hurt you. They know you're supernatural but once they do this check, once they realize that you're not carrying with you this dark spirit, then they won't hurt you, I promise”.

“Scott, we're going to have to do something” Derek said “don't do anything” Scott said “is he serious” I asked “I said don't do anything” Scott said. I couldn't take it any more “enough” I said and walked past everyone and up to the dark spirits. “Leave, the person you are looking for is not here, leave and don't bother us again” I said in a much deeper voice then my normal one and my eyes turned red.

They stood there for a moment then disappeared, my eyes went back to normal as I turned back around and everyone looked at me silent. We went to the hospital to take Scott's dad there. “Derek we need to talk” I said as we walked outside “listen back there I'm” Derek started but I stopped him. “Don't, I may be able to control them, but that doesn't mean that I'm the one that told them to go after us”.

Derek was silent “and if you don't believe that, then you don't believe me” I said as Derek looked up at me. “I'm sorry, but maybe there's a reason that I died and didn't come back to life until you left. Its over” I said as Derek looked at me a little hurt as I kissed his check before walking away.
