Chapter 2

Star

"So, you're just letting us go" Scott asked Araya as Scott and I stood in front of her while everyone else stood by Stiles's jeep. "I sent four men out to where Kate was rumored to have been seen, none of them came back, let's see if you can do better" Araya said. "You could've just told us she was alive" I said to her "you wouldn't have believed me. Now I know what kind of Alpha you are Scott, and where your next step lies". "What next step" Scott asked "when you take the bite of an innocent, when you make a wolf of your own, when you do that, then, I will cross your border and come knocking at your door" Araya said.

Scott walked back to the others while I stood there "what were you talking about before, that you know Scott and I's secret" I asked holding my jacket. Araya smiled at me "that you and Scott are mated, that nether one of you want to admit it or tell anyone because Scott cares about Kira, just like you care about Derek still" Araya said. I looked at the ground "I won't tell, but if you don't find Derek then I will make you suffer. They say that when you are mated with someone you can feel there pain at times. I wonder if that's true"?

I looked up at Araya "hopefully you don't find out" Araya said with a smile. I walked away form her and towards everyone else "so what now" Stile asks "she thinks she knows where we can find Derek" Scott said with a sigh. "She gonna tell us where" Malia asked "uh, actually, she's giving us a guide" I said as a girl drives up on a motorcycle. "You know her" Stiles asked me "Braeden" I said "who's Braeden" Kira asked?

"She's a mercenary" Lydia said "right now, I'm the only one who's gonna take you to la iglesia" Braeden said. "The Church" Lydia asked "what's The Church" I asked "it's not a place you'll find God" Braeden said "come on" she said. Everyone headed for the jeep but I stood there "aren't you coming" Scott asked me looking back at me. "I'll just run, besides there's no room for me in the jeep. See you there" I said and transformed into a wolf.

I ran off "I'm sorry but that is so cool" Malia said as everyone got into Stiles jeep, fallowing Braeden on her motorcycle with me close to them. I overhead Scott telling everyone who Kate was while we were running.

Scott

After I was done telling everyone who Kate was we felt like we hit something big and stopped, making Braeden stop as well. "What happened" she asked us "I don't know it felt like we hit something" Stiles said and I looked around "where's Star" I asked as she came running over. A small sigh of relief came over me as I gave her a quick hug "did you see what we hit" Stiles asked Star.

"No, I was just running and heard you guys stop" Star said "Scott, we need to get there by night, it's too dangerous otherwise" Braeden said "go" Stiles said "not without you" I said to Stiles. "Dude, someone needs to find Derek, we'll figure something out. We always do, just go" Stiles says to me. "Okay" I say with a sigh "I'll go with him" Star said to Stiles making him nod.

"Scott... I can't think of anything else to say except for be careful and... and I know "Be careful" sounds kind of lame and I'm totally sure the second you're gone I'm gonna think of something much better, but I" Kira tried to say "uh, "be careful" works for me" I said with a smile as I hug her and she hugs me back. Star and I both agreed that I could go out with Kira but we couldn't tell anyone about her and me. "Scott, the sun's going down" Braeden said to me.

"Hey, I gotta go" I said to Kira and I got on Braeden's bike as Star transformed into a wolf and we headed out. We stopped making Star change back and we went to an edge of a cliff "La iglesia" Braeden said as we looked out on a town that looked barred almost "what happened here" I asked "An earthquake, it leveled the town" Braeden said "then why is The Church still standing" Star asked "the locals think it's because of what's underneath".

"Do we wanna know" I asked Braeden "The Church was built over the ruins of an Aztec temple. It belonged to a people called the nagual" "Shapeshifters" I asked "Were-jaguars" Braeden said. "So Derek and Kate are somewhere in there" Star asked "I don't know, never gotten this far before" Braeden said and she headed back to her bike. I looked at Star who looked at me then back at La iglesia "that's comforting" Star said and we headed back on the dessert road.

We finally made it to the church as night came; Braeden handed me the flashlight and cocked her gun. I looked at her "If you find Kate in here, what are you gonna do with her" "bring her back to the Calaveras, that's what they paid me for" "is that dead or alive" Star asked. "What happens after that" I asked "not my problem" Braeden said "you don't care" I asked?

"Do you, she's a mass murderer" Braeden said "and you're a mercenary" "girl's gotta eat". "If you were paid enough, would you kill her" I asked making Braeden stop and look at Star and me. "If the money was good, I'd kill you two, her I'd defiantly get some good money out of" Braeden said nodding towards Star. "Why" Star asked her making Braeden laugh "you're Deucalion's daughter, the one person that can change into a full wolf" Braeden said and we continued to walk inside.

"Good to know" Star said as we headed in The Church "can you catch Derek's scent" Braeden asked me. "Yeah, I already got it" I said as I heard a faint roar and stopped "what" Braeden asked "did you hear that" I asked Star "yah, there's something else in here" Star said. "Something like what" "something not human" I said.

"So, how come you didn't kiss her" Braeden asked me "what" I asked "how come you didn't kiss your girlfriend"? "You mean, Kira" Star asked "whatever her name is" Braeden said. "Well, she's not really, uh... I mean, we've never actually... She's not my girlfriend" I said not really knowing how to word it.

"So if you die down here, are you gonna regret not kissing her" Braeden asked me and I was silent. You should've kissed your girlfriend" Braeden said as we continued to walk.

Star

We walked past a skeleton that had a scorpion crawling on it "I hate scorpions" I said taking a step away from the skeleton. All of a sudden Scott stopped and turned around, shinning the flashlight behind him "what" Braeden whispered to him "just had a feeling like something was behind us" Scott said.

We continued to walk as Scott and I kept looking behind us. All of a sudden we hear something exhale making us all turn around "you hear that" Braeden asked us "is this why you never get that far" Scott asked Braeden as we heard footsteps like someone was running towards us and growling. "Get ready" Braeden said as she pointed her gun out and started shooting.

Braeden, Scott, and I kept backing up as Braeden kept shooting "where is it, do you see it" Braeden asked me. "No, I don't know, I can't see anything" Scott said "where is this thing" I said as we stopped and could still hear footsteps running. I don't know why but I was scared as I reached over and grabbed Scott's hand. Scott looked at me as I looked at him worried

Scott let go of my hand and stepped in front of us "Scott, get behind me, Scott, get behind me" Braeden said to Scott. "You may want to cover you're ears" I said to Braeden as Scott roared loud making everything shake. Braeden and I covered our ears and I looked up as my eyes turned red just as Scott turned around. He looked at me a bit surprised as I blinked a few times and my eyes went back to normal.

"Is that what I do to you" Scott asked me as I was silent. Scott turned back around as we didn't hear anything "I think I scared it" "I think you scared everything" Braeden said. All of a sudden we heard a crashing noise and turned around to see a hole in the wall "what is that" I asked as we walked inside to see some carvings making a circle in the wall.

"Tezcatlipoca, the nagual jaguar God, I think we found Derek" Braeden said. Scott listened and nodded "he's in there". Scott looked at me "stand back" I said to Braeden and she took a few steps back as Star and I punched a hole in the wall and looked inside. Derek reached out a hand for us as Scott, Braeden, and I looked at him. We couldn't believe what we were seeing.

"Oh, my God" Scott whispered. We quickly opened the hole bigger and helped Derek out. Scott held one side and I held the other as we helped him out of The Church. When we came outside Stiles's was pulling up in his jeep and everyone got out and stopped when they saw Derek. "Is that him, is that Derek" Malia asked as Stiles couldn't believe what he was seeing. "Uh, sort of" Stiles said as Derek looked up showing his teenage face and body again.
