Chapter 14

Star

“You know, this is where it all started, that's where the money was, 117 million in bearer bonds” Stiles said as he sat on the floor, holding Malia in his lap. Scott sat on a stool, Kira walked around, while I just sat on the floor, leaning against the door. “How do you even change bearer bonds into cash” Kira asked? “The Bank, I guess” Stiles said while Kira sat next to Scott. “They just let it sit here the whole time collecting dust, you know bearer bonds are basically extinct” Stiles said.

“Why does it matter” I choked out “you know how many problems that money could solve” Stiles said. “For you” Kira asked “me, my dad, the Eichen House and MRI bills are crushing him” Stiles said. “Mom does this thing, she writes down all the items in our budget, and how much they cost, then she adds them all up and figures out how long we have until, we lose the house” Scott said.

We were all silent as Scott stood up, making Stiles stand up as well “what are you doing” Stiles asked Scott? “Listening” Scott said “they're looking for us” I said in a weak voice “someone's going to have to go out there” Scott said. Stiles looked at Malia and Kira “we need to tell her the truth about Peter” Scott said. “She's going to find out sooner or later Stiles” I said moving my eyes to look up at him.

“She's going to see the rest of the dead pool eventually” Scott said “try to remember that Peter is the one name missing on that list. Which either makes him incredibly lucky with a benefactor, she finds out about him she's going to go to him, you know she is. And then he's going to twist his way into her head like he does with everyone, including us. We let him walk around like nothing ever happened, like he's one of the good guys” Stiles said.

I coughed a little making Scott and Stiles bend down next to me “Scott, he's not one of the good guys” Stiles said to Scott across from me. “If she finds out about him, she's gone, that's probably what he's waiting for and if he wins, we lose” Stiles said. “We're already losing” Scott said as he held up his hand and black blood was coming out of his nails. I coughed again as black blood came out of my mouth making Stiles, Scott, and I look at each other.

I stood up, losing my balance a little as I walked over across from Malia and laid down, looking up at the ceiling. Stiles walked over to Malia as I listened to him “Malia, Malia” she woke up. “I gotta leave for a few, okay” Stiles said “where are you going” Malia choked out. “Whatever's happening, it's worse for you guys, that means it's not just people getting sick, it's another assassin” Stiles said. I didn't what to listen anymore so I closed my eyes and tried to focus on something else.

All of a sudden the door opening made me listen as Stiles left and the door closed behind him. I opened my eyes but couldn't see anything, making me quickly sit up “Star” Scott asked me. I looked around but still couldn't see a thing “I can't see, I can't see anything” I said trying to see but couldn't. All of a sudden I got this huge pain in my head making me lay back down. I heard a paper unfolding “Malia” Scott said “I can't see, I can't see anything” Malia said.

Scott

My eye sight was starting to go blurry “what's happening to us” Malia asked “Scott? I can't, I can't see” Kira said as I tried my best to stand. “Hey, Scott, Scotty” I heard Stiles's voice “in the vault, in there with you. It's called reishi mushrooms, Scott, Scott, open the door! It's in there with you. It's in a jar, it's on one of the shelves” I heard Stiles say as Stiles kept banging and yelling.

“Scott, Scott can you hear me” Stiles yelled as I just sat there “Scott, I saw it, in a jar on one of the shelves” Kira said. I tried my best to stand as I looked around, only able to make out a few peaces of things. I blinked my eyes so they would turned red and looked around. I saw Kira and Malia moving but Star laid across Malia, not. I Quickly stumbled over to the shelves as looked around, seeing the jar.

I reached for it, trying to grab it but it slipped and fell out of my hands and onto the floor, shattering the glass. Some smoke came out of it making me breath it in and look around, starting to see again. I went over to the door and pushed I open, falling in front of Stiles as I tried to catch my breath. I looked up at Stiles who smiled at me, before running over to Malia. I helped Kira up as Malia looked at Stiles and pushed his hand away from her before getting up and walking out. She knew.

Stiles sat there for a second as I stood there, looking at him, feeling bad. I looked over at Star “Star come on” I called to her but she didn't move and didn't make a sound. I let go of Kira and ran over to Star making Stiles look over “Star” Stiles said and slid over. I rolled Star over so she was on her back instead of her side. “Star, Star wake up, Star” I said shaking her and trying to wake her up but she wouldn't.

I sat there, looking at her as she didn't move and Stiles sat next to me as I looked at the ground. All of a sudden Star opened her eyes and coughed a bit making Stiles and I quickly look up and help her sit up. “Are we dead yet” Star asked and I couldn't help but smile “no” I said. “Dang it” Star said with a smile as we helped her stand up. I helped Kira out as Stiles helped Star out.

We walked out to the hallway of the school “Stiles” I heard Stiles's dad say as Stiles let go of me. Stiles's dad ran over to Stiles who hugged him as he hugged him back. Scott, Kira, and I walked outside making Kira's mom and dad run over to her and hug her. All if a sudden a car pulled up, reveling Melissa. Scott's dad ran over to Scott, hugging him as Melissa came over, hugging him as well.

“Are you okay” Melissa asked Scott “yeah mom, I'm fine” Scott said with a smile. Melissa looked at me and smiled before hugging me as well, I smiled and hugged her back before letting go. I walked off a little as teens and parents piled around each other making small groups as they hugged each other. I smiled as I looked over seeing Derek getting out of his car fast and stopped when he saw me. Worried was written on his face.

I smiled big and quickly ran over to him, making him run over to me. I hugged him as he hugged me tightly “you scared the crap out of me” Derek said still hugging me. “That's my job” I said with a smile as we pulled away “I love you so much” Derek said “I love you too” I said and kissed him, making him kiss me back. Stiles came over “okay you two love birds, brake it up” Stiles said as Scott and Kira came over. “What happened out there” I asked Stiles?

Well you know Simon, our crazy teacher that you had a bad feeling about” Stiles said to me. “Yeah” I said “well, he was working for the Benefactor” Stiles said “did he get away” Scott asked. “Nope, he's dead, thanks to you're dad for saving me” Stiles said to Scott. “Are you okay” I asked Stiles knowing what he was talking about “yeah, I'll be fine” Stiles said. “What are you talking about, where's Malia” Derek asked looking around.

“Oh it's a long story that I really don't want to explain right now” I said rapping my arms around his neck with a smile before giving him a quick kiss.
