welcome to crane stage university
The cafeteria went silent as Year 4s started coming there. The Year 4s aren't rude, or whatever some media try to depict them, but they are actually respectful, and kind. Opposite of what the outsider thinks, they are the politest people, and understanding ones.
"Greetings to everyone who is here in the cafe, and to our transferees! I hope you, guys, enjoy your first day here." One of the Year 4 greets, smiling. He was quite a person, as he looks like he is the leader of some sorts— although his height doesn't match with his joyfulness.
"I am Kim Hongjoong, and I am from the Science Department! Us, Year 4s, have agreed to throw a party for the transferees!" Hongjoong pauses, and smiled, "Think of it as... a celebration for your arrival! We are beyond grateful to have you all here, and to the party!" He continued, beaming to the students.
San was surprised but was flattered. The Year 4 he knows here is different from the other colleges he went.
"Is he really this kind?" San asks Mingi who was beaming. Mingi looked at him, "Yes! Hongjoong-hyung was one of the people who helped me here." He responded, which made San smile as well.
Maybe San can stay. Maybe this is the last university that he will be enrolled in.
Before Hongjoong could speak, he was interjected by the opening of the door. It was loud, it echoed in the area.
"Who said I approve this idea, Kim?" A man, taller than Hongjoong, black-haired, and intimidating, lamented. He walks closer to the commotion and made his way closer to Hongjoong who was standing in the middle of the crowd.
Hongjoong rolled his eyes, "I did." He replied, sticking his tongue out to mock the other.
San's heart started beating loudly again, he became anxious as the man who just entered didn't speak. His eyes were sending daggers to Hongjoong.
"What's happening?" San panicking asked Mingi who lowered his head. The younger wasn't really scared.
"Why is your head hung low!? Answer me? Hello?" The man asked once again, panicking in his spot. The blonde shushed him, "Silence. Hyung might notice me. I stole his sandwich last time." He answered, which made San groan.
The other students silenced due to the man's arrival. The sudden silence made Wooyoung laugh, oh no, not this man again.
"Seonghwa-hyung is enjoying himself." Wooyoung stated, making Jongho giggle. Personally, knowing Seonghwa, they knew that he did this just for him to be noticed by Kim Hongjoong.
Jongho hissed, if the staring keeps on going, they might be late, and might not catch any information about the welcome party.
"Hey! Hyung! Cut it! Let Hongjoong-hyung speak!" Wooyoung shouted, noticing Jongho's pissed off face. The other students gasped, including Mingi— still his head hung low.
Seonghwa sighed, "Alright. I'll approve of this." He stated, sitting to the nearest chair where Hongjoong is standing. Well, it's natural to see these two making a scene.
Hongjoong smiled, "Alright! The party will be at Greenhills Pool, tomorrow, and it will start at 6:30pm sharp! Present your IDs!" The man informed, making the students clap, and laugh. The vacation isn't yet close, but here they are.
After Hongjoong's announcement, the other students happily returned to their seats and continued on eating. Many were discussing on what they will be wearing, others were thinking what to do, and many more.
Wooyoung sat by Jongho, coincidentally, he saw the same guy from their history class. He seems down. It bothers him so much but decided to shrug off.
"Are you okay?" Mingi questioned, watching San play with his grilled cheese. San's fluttering heart was now beating in anxiety.
"Was he a good person? Was he playing?"
The blonde scoffed, "Hey!" Mingi called, making San flinch. Only then he realized that his grilled cheese does not look appetizing anymore. It looks like some kid decided to make fun of it.
"What's wrong?" The younger asked, munching his chocolate chip cookie. San shakes his head, groaning. His fear that he claimed from the other university he came from, is crawling back to his head.
The elder sighed, "Nothing. Just a bunch of trash bags in my head." He answers, frowning. The younger looked at him, "Let's throw that trash!" He beamed, making San smile.
Honestly, San still couldn't comprehend the system of the university. Back in his old universities, he could immediately guess how the students acts, the system, the teachers, but now, it felt new to him. In his old universities, usually the seniors bully the freshmen, which he hated. San is no freshmen, he's already in Year 2.
"Hey, are you going to the welcome party tomorrow?" Mingi asked, sipping an apple juice. San contemplated for a while; he's scared that it might be some kind of prank. He heavily sighed, he felt anxious. "Are we required to come? Like, sure, I am a transferee but.. I'm quite anxious." San answered, feeling embarrassed.
The other nodded, "I understand. The environment must be new for you. But! Hongjoong-hyung is a trustworthy person, and it's okay not attend if you don't feel like it." Mingi responded, smiling at San who was anxious. Actually, it wasn't the answer that San was anticipating, hearing those words made him feel at ease.
San smiled as a form of acknowledgement, "I will think about it." He stated, making the younger pressured. "Hey! If you don't want to, don't pressure yourself!" Mingi instantly retorted, making the elder giggle.
"You'll join me tomorrow?" Jongho asked, looking at the other who was fidgeting with the apple he bought. Wooyoung thought for a while. The event isn't beneficial for him in any way, but something inside him is telling him to go. Maybe one of his weird intuitions again.
The elder shakes his head as a response. Maybe it's better to just stay at home and enjoy some alone time. But the guy beside him isn't satisfied with his answer.
"Oh wait, let me change the tone of it." Jongho pauses, then dramatically coughs, "You will join me tomorrow." He continued, smiling as if he is a villain who created the most gut-wrenching, toe-curling invention.
Wooyoung rolled his eyes, it's always like this. A year of pesky Jongho, who will always force him to join socialization parties, and so on. Well, Wooyoung won't deny that he feels included sometimes, although he wronged a lot of people in their campus.
"Fine, what even can I do." The black-haired replies, scoffing. The red head just laughed and continued munching on his snacks.
