right time, right place
Wooyoung and San sit beside each other, hands still intertwined, and hearts beating in unison. The couple—Jongho and Yeosang—had already left as it was time for their classes, leaving the two men in the library.
After they left, no word was spoken. They just sat in silence, comforting each other with each other's presence. Luckily, they had an hour vacant, more time to spend with each other.
"Do you feel a little better?" San questioned, looking at Wooyoung fondly, his eyes unknowingly sparking. Wooyoung smiled at him, his eyes closing in the process. Then, the younger nodded.
San's heart beats extra loudly as Wooyoung replies to him softly. His heart is screaming, telling him to protect the young man at all costs. On the other hand, Wooyoung's heart thumps through his ribcage, telling him to hug and tell everything to the man in front of him.
Maybe it's something else? What is this warm feeling surrounding him?
Maybe San can stay here. Maybe San can finish his studies here.
"Do you wanna go to caféteria? Maybe we can get something to eat to make you a little better?" San suggested, looking at Wooyoung straight to his eyes, not removing his glance a little bit. There's something in Wooyoung that makes him so drawn to him.
Wooyoung smiled, "Yeah. Let's go. I'm hungry, I haven't eaten anything nice." He answered, earning a nod from San.
The two stood up and San packed his things. They left the library and went to the caféteria to buy some food. There weren't many people, it was just some Year 4s that were cutting classes. The two went towards the kitchen and bought chicken, salad, and an apple juice.
They sat beside each other and ate. Though there was silence between them, the two didn't bother to break it. San noticed that Wooyoung was eating non-stop, which made him sad and relieved. Relieved that the younger eats well, and sad because it was evident how the divorce impacted him.
He can't blame him. San, then, had a great idea.
"Do you want to go somewhere else? We can skip school." San suggested, smiling at the other. He remembered that he has lots of paperwork to do, so he thinks it's a good idea to skip and finish it after hanging out with the younger.
Wooyoung was taken aback. San? Skipping schools? Since when? The younger thought that maybe San is just doing this for his sake.
Wait. For his sake? It struck him. San is doing so much for him for his sake. Is it the reason why he was finding out ways on how to become genuine to San?
Wooyoung chuckles, "Do you want to? If you want, we can." He replied, jokingly, but anticipating the answer he wants. San smiled, "Let's go." He answered, pulling the younger from his seat.
The two men sprinted through the hallways, laughing as they do. They were like children who were chasing with each other. From the other students' perspective, it's like two boys healing their inner children.
As they reached the gate, the two men climbed, successfully reaching the other side. They laughed doing so, enjoying every moment with each other.
There weren't many people in the street that time, so they were slightly scared if someone had seen them leave my climbing the university's gate.
As they were far away from the university, the two men were catching their breathes, stopping beside a small vending machine.
"Where do you want to go?" Both asked in unison, making them laugh once again. They thought for a while. Where should they head? San's idea was to go in the near stalls, just downhill where they are. Meanwhile, Wooyoung thought to go in the mini mall that is currently celebrating its grand opening.
"To the mall!"
"To the stalls down there!"
And it was silent. But it was Wooyoung who was first to smile, which sent San into spiraling madness of feelings. His heart, then again, started jumping like crazy. He felt like his ribcage is cracking, his heart expanding from the surging feeling. Unknowingly, San looked starstruck, which was oblivious to Wooyoung's point of view.
On the other hand, Wooyoung found San's puzzled face cute. At least that's how he interprets San's face right now.
"Let's go to the stalls first. You interrupted me earlier." The younger jokingly says, pulling San downhill.
That's where San was snapped out. He was already being pulled by Wooyoung, and they are running down the hill.
"Wow! These are delicious! Let's try these again some other time!" The younger exclaimed, earning a nod from the elder who was busy chomping his food.
They were currently eating calamari, which was rare to find in those stalls, because San never saw it there even once, just now. The two continued on feasting, Wooyoung took his time savoring the food, while San just inhales them.
While munching his own food, Wooyoung suddenly felt San scooting closer to him. In instinct, Wooyoung stepped back until he bumped into someone, which caused their drink to spill. This surprised the three of them: Wooyoung, San, and the random man.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" He apologized, bowing so quick that he forgot that he was holding a cup half-full of sauce and calamari. In an action, his calamari spilled too.
"Hey! It's okay!" The man says, smiling genuinely. The man, then, picked both his and Wooyoung's cup and threw it in the nearest trash can. The two of them bowed for each other and the man left.
As the random man disappeared in sight, Wooyoung sighed.
"I'm sorry." San apologized; his head hung low. He should have not done that. Definitely. Now, he feels like Wooyoung felt so embarrassed.
"Why did you do that?" Wooyoung asked, trying to sound calm as much as possible, trying not to scare San.
San looked at him, "You have some crumbs from the calamari on your cheeks. I thought I can remove it, but then you.. I am sorry, I should've told you first before making any move." San explained, feeling so bad and sad. It felt like he ruined something special and thinks nothing cannot be compromised for it.
Wooyoung slowly curved his lips upward, "Tell me first next time, okay?" He replied, "It's okay. Don't feel bad. Things happens, okay?" He added, consoling San who was clearly frowning. It wasn't really a big deal for Wooyoung.
"Okay. I'll buy another cup of calamari for it?" San asked, earning a huge smile from Wooyoung.
The two, then, decided to buy again from the old lady who happens to hear their entire conversation.
"Reminds me the days of mine and my husband's." She thought while the two were giggling as they eat the piping hot calamari.
