Chapter 2
*Michael and his little sister Erika*
Once the maid, whose name was Amelia, was done getting me ready, I looked in the mirror and saw how I looked. I had on a long black and white gown on that had no ruffles except for around the collar bone. The dress came with black gloves that ran up to just below my elbows. I had black flats on that had small yet very noticeable white designs. I had a little makeup on and my ears had long earrings. My hair was a different story. My long, white hair was put up in a bun with my bangs slightly covering my left eye. The final touch was the very last accessory that I was required to wear. A silver crown that bore a red gem in the middle of it. This outfit was very dull and I didn't like it. Black just seemed like a very sad color. Like all of the other colors seemed to hate it and shun it. I don't blame them.
There was a knock on the door and I instantly knew who it was. Trevor peaked his head in while holding his hands over his eyes. "May I come in?"
I laughed at this and spoke, "Yes you may, Trevor." He entered and he looked at me with the same loving gaze he gave me in the cell.
"You look beautiful, Julie." He commented as he moved a strand of hair back to where my bangs were. "The color makes you look like you just got back from a funeral. I'm not surprised though. Of course he chose that dress for you. He-"
"Michael is the prince, isn't he, Trevor?" I asked as I looked at him. Trevor watched me for a moment before nodding.
"Yes. Yes he is. But-"
"I don't really know what he meant to me before I lost my memories, but he rules a kingdom that had been taken over by a family member of mine- forcefully. He is my enemy now and I will do anything in my power to stop him." I claimed. Trevor smiled down at me and I placed my hand on his cheek causing him to tense up. "I want this kingdom to become what it used to be. Just how you and my past self remember it."
*Trevor's POV*
Julie...
"That was very thoughtful of you, your highness. I would love to continue this chat; however, we must get going to the throne room. The prince is waiting for you." I replied giving her a smile. I hated Michael so much. He had betrayed us. Just so he could take over the throne. So he could be king. He risked Julie's life and he knew it. He's taking advantage of her memory loss. But he wanted me to keep quiet or he would kill the person most dear to me and I can't allow him to kill her. Not now, not ever. Michael had actually had one of the new guards put a syringe in her blood through a needle, so that it would cause her memory to fade. I mustn't talk about that now though. I have to save that for another time.
"Okay." She replied as she started to walk out of the room. I walked ahead of her and kept taking a few glances back. I wonder what she's thinking... She's awfully quiet back there. I shock my head to ignore the fact that I wanted to ask what was bugging her and continued to lead her to her destination.
Once we reached the throne room, two guards opened the door revealing a rather bored prince. Michael looked our way and instantly saw Julie. His face brightened with a bit of happiness but a lot of mischief hidden in that smile. "Julie!! I'm glad your here, sweetheart!! I was getting rather bored here by myself." Michael exclaimed pushing me to the side so that he could reach his 'sweetheart'.
"So I'm guessing that your Prince Michael?" Julie asked. He gave her a fake shocked look and he looked at her with a fake sad smile.
"Oh dear. So I'm guessing that the guards were right about you losing your memory. Such a shame. And a few days before the wedding." Michael claimed as he turned around and motioned for Julie to follow, which she did. Good job, Julie. Just keep playing along. Don't let him know that you know what happened. I followed after them and Michael glared at me. "What do you think your doing, Trevor?" He asked, venom in his voice.
"I was told by you specifically that I had to protect Princess Julie at all costs, for she is the future queen, your majesty." I bowed as my frown continued to stay on my face. "So I'm doing just that." Michael smirked and pulled Julie to him by the waste, instantly connecting his lips with hers. She tried pulling away but he wouldn't allow it. I knew what he was trying to do. He was trying to get to me and I wasn't going to allow it to work, so I just stood there trying to keep a stoic expression. I could tell that it worked because he groaned and pulled away.
"Whatever." He said as he walked off while leaving her behind. "We will have our talk tomorrow instead, my beloved. I've grown immensely tired. Until then." He them disappeared as the doors slammed shut. I walked up to Julie who held a look of shock. I just grabbed her shoulder and started to lead her through the castle and back to her room. As we got there, I noticed that the maid wasn't there.
"Julie. The maid isn't here, so I was thinking if you had a problem with dressing I could maybe call her back."
"No thank you, Trevor. I can dress myself." I nodded and left the room. After a while she never allowed me to come back in so I walked in and saw her passed out on the bed. I smiled and covered her up with the blankets. I looked at her sleeping form for a few seconds before I smiled to myself again and kissed her forehead. I leaned in close to her ear and whispered to her- after knowing that she was for sure asleep- the words that I have always wanted to say,
"I love you, Julie." And then I walked out of the room to leave her to sleep in peace. I walked to the room next to hers and opened the door. I walked over and laid down on the bed and smiled to myself, again.
God. You don't know how long I've wanted to say that, Julie. I know it was bad saying it while you were sleeping and with the fact that you've lost your memory, but at least I got to tell you. After 10 years...
