Introduction

Tran Dai Nghia High school for the gifted (Where the OC studies)

Why TDN has good students:

The study quality is one of the best in Ho Chi Minh city, every year they had an entrance test for grade 6 and grade 10 students. Students who studied in TDN or passed the exam are mostly considered talented, gifted, intelligent.

TDN has relationships with foreign schools which offer students more scholarships than normal schools.

The teachers were experienced in the subject they teach, modern learning style with lots of public speaking and presentation lessons

They had a lot of clubs fit for your personality: Ngot Lab (baking for charity), the Spectre (photography), Acting Club, Cultural clubs (some special clubs like Japan Club would offer scholarships to Japan),...

Frequent science fairs and sports competitions

Special classes (German classes with 2 lessons per week, Third Language classes: French, Japanese, Chinese classes, Sports day once per week on Friday/Wednesday where students studied their desired sport: self defense, basketball, aerobic)

History of the school:

Trần Đại Nghĩa High School for the Gifted (TDN) in Ho Chi Minh City traces its roots to the La Salle–Taberd Institution founded in 1874 by Catholic clergy. After 1975, the site was transferred to the state and became the High School of Pedagogy. In 2000, it was officially re-established as Trần Đại Nghĩa High School for the Gifted, named after the renowned scientist and engineer. Known for its competitive entrance exams and strong foreign language programs, TDN graduated its first class in 2003. The school expanded in 2015 with a new branch in District 2 and continues to grow with modern facilities, specialized academic tracks, and a vibrant extracurricular culture. (ChatGPT cuz I'm lazy)

And... I also study there!

To clarify and explain a few things you might think is different from your country:

Vietnamese students wear a red scarf (khăn quàng đỏ) as part of the uniform for members of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization — a youth organization for children. Most of the students join the organization in the second semester of grade 3.

The red color symbolizes martyrs that sacrificed themselves for the younger generations' freedom to study. Wearing them is a way to show respect, gratitude, and a promise to be a good and contributive citizen. (Students also get disciplined if they forget to wear them!) (this is a pic with my school's uniform)

Monitors

In Vietnam, we have one monitor for each grade. The monitor assists most of our problems, like if you lost your phone, or need a new chair, mostly to get lost things and get new chalk each week. They are also one of the most feared staff. They can discipline students, write their names into their notebook - it will affect their whole year academic performances. Monitors are more feared than teachers and have the authority to provide most information and resources.

Class board:

Hung outside of the class with the class name. For example "8A9"

Vietnamese classroom: Often had two doors. One leads to the main staircases and the other either has the yard view or the view of the roads/canteen/buildings...

This story is heavily influenced by:

Squid Game (Hwang Dong-hwik)

Tết in Hellbound village (Thảo Trang)

For classes with a funeral, attendance will not be taken (Doo Vandenis)

And videos about horror rules

TDN do not actually have dorms (I added dorms to layer the mystery). This is a fictional story with a setting exploring Vietnamese schools. The names here or pure fiction, if it is related to someone in real life, this is a coincidence. =)  This story is written by me. Please don't hesitate to tell me if someone copied my content. This is also the original story of "BACK TO SCHOOL" (other stories shared the same name but mine is about horror). The cover is from Canva and the contents inside are owned by artists on Canva. Also, please take notes about the school rules - the plot would make things more complicated so please take notes to keep up and to not confuse how certain stuff happens in the future. Thank you!

TW: The following story contains detailed depictions of gore and graphic violence set within a school environment. These descriptions may be disturbing or triggering for some readers. Please proceed with caution.

Happy reading...

=)
