Chapter Six
Fallenpaw felt a cold gust of air hit him as he felt his consciousness return to him.
"Fallenpaw!" Breezepaw's voice cried out. Opening his eyes, the she-cat who stood over him sighed with relief. Breezepaw's fur was messy and in need of a grooming, Fallenpaw noticed.
"Where are we?" Fallenpaw blurted out, sitting up. Breezepaw looked around.
"North said it was 'The Basement'. They say the tree they live in is a 'Treehouse'." Breezepaw explained to him. Fallenpaw nodded, pressing against his best friend in nervousness.
"Hey, kits." Dapplestar's voice echoed into the Basement. She'd been up with the black she-cat and North. The black she-cat needed a medicine cat, but Dapplestar was the closest the cats would get.
"How is the black she-cat?" Breezepaw asked. Fallenpaw nodded but said nothing.
"She'll be fine. Her kits are beautiful." Fallenpaw felt Breezepaw jump. Breezepaw smiled, despite the fact she'd just learned some shocking news.
"Can we go see them?" Sorrelpaw asked from further back in the Basement.
"Sure, but wake Scorchpaw, Leafpaw and Frogpaw first. They deserve to come too." Dapplestar mewed, nudging Leafpaw, who was closest to her, awake. Breezepaw looked over her shoulder, rushing over to tackle her brother.
"Wakey-wakey, you deaf elder!" Breezepaw teased. Scorchpaw's eyes flew open, and the tom shoved his sister off.
"Froooooogpaaaaaaw!" Leafpaw yelled into Frogpaw's ear. Breezepaw leapt back to Fallenpaw. Fallenpaw smiled at his friends and littermates before following Dapplestar up the rocks and into the main part of the Treehouse. The elderly she-cat, who the group now knew as Panic, greeted them with a rumbling purr.
"Hey, kin." She smiled. Fallenpaw felt a little odd, but he liked the old she-cat. Maybe she'd come back to JungleClan with them!
"Panic, the 'paws want to see Eclipse and her kits. Think I could take them up?" Dapplestar meowed. Panic smiled, her patchy-furred shoulders shaking with a bit of laughter.
"Sure, my dear. Your Clan nicknames really strike me as funny, you know." Panic meowed plainly. Dapplestar smiled as she dashed up the 'stairs', the apprentices following behind.
"Eclipse, can we name this one Secret? She looks exactly like Secret, so.." North's voice echoed. Fallenpaw felt a stab of nervousness. Should they be intruding here?
"Come on in!" Fallenpaw heard Eclipse's voice as the group neared a door. Fallenpaw pressed up to Sorrelpaw, who had drifted to the back, as they entered.
"Hey guys!" North chirped happily. Four little kits suckled at Eclipse's belly, one pure black, one pure white, one a white kit with black tail stripes and one a black kit with white tail stripes. The black kit with white tail stripes was a she-kit, so was the pure black kit and the pure white one, the only other was a tom.
"This one's Secret," Eclipse meowed, tapping the black she-kit with white tail stripes with her tail.
"This one's Windy," she touched her tail to the pure white one.
"This is Maple," the pure black she-kit.
"And... This is Storm." She finished, touching her tail to the white tom with black tail stripes.
"Such wonderful names, Eclipse." Dapplestar purred. Fallenpaw felt light-headed as he backed out of the room. He sprinted down the stars, charging into Dream by accident.
"Whoa, little guy, watch out!" Dream exclaimed, stepping around him. Fallenpaw felt sick as he charged into the Basement. He flopped down in his nest, coughing. He'd eaten something bad, he just knew it. Looking over at the half-eaten rabbit carcass he'd had earlier, he saw a bit of green-ish color on the flesh. He wanted to throw up. He'd eaten a diseased rabbit!

"C'mon kits, it's time to go!" Breezepaw heard Dapplestar yowl. She was saying her goodbyes to Eclipse and North. She still wasn't comfortable with them, but she felt that they wouldn't hurt her. Sorrelpaw and Leafpaw stood at the door, eyes wide.
"Have you seen Fallenpaw?" Leafpaw asked worriedly. Come to think of it, I haven't seen him since this morning! Breezepaw thought to herself. She shook her head, barging past the puzzled she-cats. Her paws thrumming against the wood, she rushed down the stairs. She charged into Dream by mistake, yelping in shock.
"Have you seen Fallenpaw?" Breezepaw gasped.
"Actually, he charged into me on his way to the Basement." Dream purred at the she-cat. Breezepaw dipped her head quickly before stepping around Dream and sprinting towards the Basement steps. Fear pounded in her chest even thought she knew Fallenpaw would probably be okay.
"Mhrph!" A loud groan made Breezepaw stop dead. It was Fallenpaw!
"Fallenpaw!" She screeched, leaping down the rest of the remaining steps.
The grey and white tom lay still, groaning and moaning. Breezepaw felt tears well up in her eyes.
"Are you okay?" Breezepaw whispered, her voice quivering. Fallenpaw coughed, blinking rheumy blue eyes. Breezepaw gasped again.
"What happened?!" Sorrelpaw exclaimed, skidding to a stop beside her sister. Leafpaw was right behind.
"I ate... I ate a sick rabbit.." Fallenpaw choked out. Dapplestar came charging down the steps, stopping behind the kits.
"He'll need help. It would be best to take him home, back to Shimmersky and Littlepaw, but that won't happen. If we can get him to where we're going he'll be healed, though." Dapplestar meowed coldly. Breezepaw shuddered, turning to Fallenpaw and attempting to haul him to his paws.
