Jimina: Secrets

(Requested by yoko_win)

(Concept: Jimin and Mina are in a relationship, but Jimin has to hide the fact that he is an idol from Mina)

(Jimin POV)

It's hard to find someone who will love you for who you are when you live a life like I do. At least, that's how it was before I met Mina.

She's just incredible. We met at a dance studio years ago, but we ran into each other again at a busking event. We exchanged numbers and it went from there.

But she has no idea I'm in an idol group. I didn't tell her on purpose. Before, whenever I told someone I was an idol, whether I wanted to be their friend or I was interested in them, they always started treating me differently. I doubt that Mina would be like that, but I wanted to see if someone would truly love me for who I am, not what I do for a living.

So far I don't think she suspects anything. And I know, I know, it's not good to lie to your significant other, but this is different and if she finds out, she finds out. It's not like anything bad is gonna happen.

When she asked me what I do for a living, I told her I worked for an entertainment company. This way I wasn't lying, but I wasn't giving her all the details either. I just hope she doesn't feel hurt in any way when she eventually finds out.

We've had some close calls, but I don't think she's caught on yet.

One time we were walking around the mall and one of our songs was playing. I tried to talk over it, but at my part she laughed and said, "Hey, that kind of sounds like you."

I just went along with it like, "Oh yeah, it does huh?"

But the closest call I had was when we were at a small store and the owner had a poster of my group hung on the wall right at Mina's eye level and she was walking right towards it.

Her eyes were fixed on something else, but when I saw it, I panicked. I grabbed her wrist and spun her around so she was against the wall right next to the poster.

"What are you-"

I distract her by kissing her.

"Jimin, people are gonna see us." She says, gently pushing my chest away.

"Then let them see." I said.

She rolls her eyes and walks past me, in the opposite direction of the poster. My quick plan had worked and I was safe for now.

But it started getting harder when we started gaining popularity.

Getting sponsorships, brand deals, big advertisements, and radio air time, it wasn't long until she found out the truth.

I thought about it, but we've known each other long enough, so I should just tell her before she definitely finds out for herself.

So one day when we were both home from work, I sat her down and told her the truth.

"Do you know what I do for a living?" I asked her.

She looked at me, confused.

"Don't you work at BigHit?"

I laugh nervously, "Well, yeah, but it's probably not what you think." I say, "What do you think I do, like specifically?"

She shrugs, "I always thought you were a producer or something. You're always talking about music."

I laugh again, not really knowing what to say, "Uh, well it does involve music."

"So what is it that you really do then?" She asks.

"I'm an idol."

"You're a...you're a what?"

"A singer, a dancer, a performer..." I say, but I'm sure she knew what an idol was, she's probably just surprised.

"So that's why you never told me anything about your job!" She says.

I laugh nervously, "Heh...yeah. Sorry 'bout that."

"I always thought it was because you were either cheating on me or you were a mafia boss or something."

"What? Cheating on y-" I realize what she just said, "Wait, mafia boss?!"

She laughs, "Good thing it wasn't either."

I let out a sigh of relief. I'm glad she isn't mad at me.

"So why didn't you tell me?" She asks.

I fumble around with my words, "I uh...I-I wanted you to love me for who I am...I didn't want my job to get in the way of how you looked at me..."

"Yeah, but thinking you were a mafia boss didn't stop me from loving you did it?"

I looked down, "Well...I just had a rough experience with it before." I say, "But you're different."

"I had a feeling, but I didn't think you would lie to me like that for so long."

I sigh, "I'm sorry, Mina, you don't deserve to be lied to. I was just scared. I wasn't planning on hiding it for so long, but I didn't want things to change between us."

Mina laughs, scratching at her neck, "Well, I guess I should stop keeping secrets too then..."

"What?" I ask, "What are you talking about?"

"When I told you I was still looking for a job," she explains, "yeah...that was a lie."

I didn't get it, "So you have a job?"

"Yeah..."

"Then what is it?" I was still confused.

"Same as you." She says, "Surprise...!"

"What?! Since when? How? Wait-"

"Since a few weeks ago. I was scouted, but we haven't actually started yet."

This was not going the way I had pictured. I thought she was going to be the one who was caught off guard but here we are.

"Th-that's great, Mina," I say running my hand through my hair, "but isn't this gonna be a problem..."

A lot of entertainment companies have extremely strict rules, especially regarding relationships and such. I'm technically not supposed to be dating right now, but I've been with Mina since before I got this job. I couldn't just leave her.

"We'll worry about it when we have to worry about it."
