Miseok (MxH) Falling
(Concept by chimchimmyoui, J-Hope and Mina: best friends who eventually fall for each other)
(Adding to concept: both of them are not idols (yet) but this takes place after high school)
(Hoseok POV)
"Thanks, boss! See you soon!" I clocked out and walked out from the back door.
I just got off of work and now I'm going to head home, wash up, maybe eat a little something, and head to the dance studio.
The studio I dance at is one of the best I've ever been to. I help teach classes there sometimes, but I'm mostly there to practice and learn.
I took the bus to the studio and walked into the building, up the stairs to the third floor where my hip-hop class was.
I open the door and the instructor welcomes me.
"Hey, Hoseok! Come on in! We're just warming up."
I smile and nod before putting my stuff down against the back wall.
"Hobi-oppa..?"
A small voice calls me from behind.
I turn to where the sound came from and face someone I haven't seen in a good two years or so.
"Mina-ssi?" I blink my eyes rapidly, "Is it really you?"
She laughs softly, "It's been that long, huh?"
We talked and warmed up together. She told me she just joined this class recently, she had no idea I was in the same one.
We couldn't talk much during practice, but I could tell she hasn't changed much, just by her dancing.
I met Mina in high school. We were both attending an arts school, but we only went to school together for one year, and then I graduated. She is three years younger than me, but that one year gave me some of the best memories.
She came to the school only a week after her family moved to Korea from Japan. She was still adjusting to things and her Korean was still developing, but she shined the most during dance class. That's where we met and that's where I decided to talk to her.
We bonded over our mutual love for dance. We'd talk about it during class and through lunch, basically whenever we were with each other.
Eventually, we started talking about a lot of other things and hanging out outside of school.
When I graduated, I got myself a job, but I still made it a point to see her as often as I could.
I was able to do that until about two years ago. I started going to college and I moved away from my parents. Mina and I tried to keep in touch, but we just started talking less and less until we just stopped talking at all.
We weren't on bad terms or anything, we were both just busy. She was in her last year of high school and I was in my first year of college.
"Good work today, class, you're killing it! See you Wednesday!"
The class wrapped up so we all gathered our things and made our way out.
I caught up with Mina and we talked all the way to the bus stop.
"It was nice seeing you again." She says.
"It was nice seeing you too." I nod.
We were at my bus stop, but she didn't walk off right away.
"You still have my number, right?" She asks.
"I think so. Unless you changed it. Why?"
"We should hangout some day. You know, like old times."
(Three months later)
"There you are!" I get up from leaning against the wall, "I've been waiting for almost half an hour."
"Sorry, sorry," Mina says hurriedly walking towards me, "There was a delay at the metro station."
We grabbed a quick lunch and then walked over to the arcade across the way.
This was one of our favorite thing to do together when we were in high school.
We were there for hours. I was having so much fun, I lost track of time.
Some point along the way, we hopped in the photo booth and took some pictures.
That's when I realized.
It was just the two of us. Like always. I never do things like this with anyone else but my best friend. Her smile made my heart happy. I noticed how close we were in that photo booth, and I started feeling different all of a sudden.
I grew quiet. I wasn't upset or anything, I was just caught up in my own feelings.
"Hobi-ya!"
I snap out of my trance. I didn't even notice that Mina was calling me from ahead.
She walks back over to me and looks me in the eye.
"Is something wrong? Are you feeling okay?"
"Hm? Oh, nothing's wrong, I'm good, I'm good." I nod my head.
"Are you sure?"
I swallow.
"No." I spit out the truth.
We leave the arcade and sit down at a bench outside.
"What's wrong, Hobi?" She asks.
"I think....I have something to tell you...but you have to promise me something." I say.
"Okay, what is it?"
"Promise me we'll still be friends." I say, looking down.
"What? Of course! Of course we'll still be friends."
I let out a sigh of relief.
"Mina." I turn to face her.
She didn't even have to say anything, but my heart was already going crazy.
"I-I...."
I was pushing and pulling myself, but I just needed to get it off of my chest.
"I think....I'm in love with you."
Her silent response made me worry, but she spoke up.
"I know."
My eyes widen and I tilt my head.
Huh? Did I hear that right?
"You know?" I ask.
"You kinda spilled all your feelings the last time you had too much to drink." She laughs nervously.
I sigh and place my hands on my face.
"I'm so sorry."
That was all I could say.
That was almost a month ago. She knew all this time? I was so embarrassed of myself.
"I'm sorry too." She says, "I guess I should've said something sooner."
"Mina," I start, "you're my best friend. I'm so sorry if that made you uncomfortable-"
"You don't have to apologize." She cuts me off.
I just sit there with my mouth shut waiting for some kind of elaboration.
"I had feelings for you a long time ago." She explains.
"You had?" I ask, "As in, not anymore..?"
"Well....that's the thing. I'm not exactly sure." She swings her feet back and forth.
"I had a crush on you back in high school...I wanted to ask you out, but I thought I didn't have a chance with you since you were older and popular."
I shake my head slowly, "I would've said yes to you in an instant." I whisper.
She looks down at her feet.
"Do you still feel that way?" I ask.
"I think...I want to...but my heart has gotten used to burying that feeling for years."
I sigh.
"I just want to love you, Mina. I want to make sure you know how much you mean to me." I start thinking out loud, "If you could just give me a chance..."
"You know I can't say no to you." She says quietly, smiling to herself.
From that day on, things started to change and over time, neither of us were scared to express our feelings anymore.
After years, we were finally together.
