⌜ nine ⌟
jeffrey made a lot of attempts just to have a chance to talk to his own sister for the whole day. but it would either be him being too busy by being the teacher's pet, or that female wong finding ways not to see him around the campus. as for twenty, it also looks like he's making an effort to have a talk with yanna, but failed in every way. not to mention, the smart one between the twins is always sticking to the female wong like he is some bubblegum.
but one thing is for sure, the two of them fucked up. especially jeffrey, how can he be so stupid in just initiating a kiss in the middle of the hallways without making sure first if there's a student left.
❝gege!❞
arriving home immediately after his basketball practice, the stressed male was then greeted by his younger brother that came running to him. he wasn't that heavy so it wasn't hard for jeffrey to carry him up. ❝shouldn't you be in your room right now?❞
❝daddy got home late, so we were just about to start dinner.❞ the young boy said.
ruffling his soft hair, a chuckle was then heard from the older brother. "your korean is improving."
the compliment flustered the boy, having him to look away with a pout. "because hearing jiejie's chinese is so annoying, so i have to speak korean all the time with her."
"she is also learning, like you." jeffrey said, not wanting to choose a side. fortunately for him, he excels in both languages. ❝where is yanna?❞
"she's—" the younger brother didn't get to answer the male's question as someone from the kitchen came out with a bright smile and an apron wrapped around his body.
it was their papa. ❝hm, you're already home?❞ jungwoo approached them and took the pouting boy from his oldest son's arms. ❝would you want to change first? we'll wait for you to join us for dinner.❞
jeffrey first placed a soft peck on top of his father's forehead as his greeting. this household sure is filled with affection, they are pretty much the ideal family. but before he can open his mouth and excuse himself to change, a girl came down from the stairs and they locked gazes only for a short while.
that was enough for the male to change his mind. ❝i'll eat first, i'm kind of hungry from practices.❞
jungwoo had more to say, probably ask about his day, but before he can even open his mouth to say a word, his oldest son now walked away and followed their only girl. heaving out a sigh, he turned to his youngest who's slowly dozing off in his arms, looking like a baby when he's already two-digit old. ❝how's school?❞
since he was sleepy, he didn't bother switching the language. "same old. shi yi and sian are always fighting!"
lucky for his papa, he understood it very well. one of the perks of always hearing his husband complain, he tends to speak chinese. ❝at least you don't get yourself involved with them.❞
now being wide awake, little sushi puffed his cheeks. ❝but that's the problem, papa! i am the reason why they fight.❞
blinking his eyes, jungwoo placed the youngest down, looking clueless at what he said. ❝you're the reason?❞
did his son do something to make the sons of the ji family and the xiao family fight? for all he knows, little sushi doesn't even know to talk back, much more get into a fight.
meanwhile, jeffrey finally caught up with his sister by the door frame that separated the large living room and the kitchen, taking her arm and forcing her to turn around. he heard a hiss from her but that didn't stop him from using this opportunity to talk with her.
❝what's wrong with you—❞ yanna paused the moment she could see the look on her brother's face.
❝why were you avoiding me the whole day?❞ he asked. it was supposed to be just a harmless question, but the tone of his voice made it sound like he's mad and he demanded for an answer. ❝i keep on looking for you! i wanted to explain everything.❞
scoffing, she folded her arms with her head tilted to the side. ❝what is there to explain? if it's about you two, you don't have too.❞
❝you deserve to know everything from it. i don't want to make it look like i'm stealing your—❞ jeffrey was taken away when his own sister gently pushed him away.
❝he's not mine anymore, take him for all i care!❞ she then has her voice raised.
❝what's going on here, are you two fighting?❞
their argument was put to a halt when they just noticed a built figure inside the kitchen. turning their heads to the side, their eyes widened when they saw their other father standing there with a look that doesn't tolerate their actions right now. it would be pretty rare to see him look like that and when he does, they knew they were fucked.
which is why, to cover it up, jeffrey got back to his senses first and threw an arm over his sister's shoulders. ❝n-no, dad. we were just discussing about the school's founder's week!❞
a tap on her arm made yanna stop spacing out. ❝right! a-and i was shouting at gege, right here, since he wouldn't take a rest even when he needed to.❞
❝aw, you're such a great sister!❞ the oldest son then faked a laugh, also a smile.
with the female wong doing the same, nudging her elbow at him playfully. ❝and you're the best brother anyone could ever have!❞
even when they looked suspicious, yukhei was convinced enough shrugged off what he heard a while ago. he turned around with a nod and went to his seat by the dining table, not seeing how his kids' expressions quickly changed when he wasn't looking. ❝come here, dinner is ready.❞
lightly pushing each other, the two of them finally settled down the vacant chair without making it look too obvious. soon after, jungwoo and little sushi joined them after having a talk by the living room. the family ate happily with small talks here and there, the kids asking about how their fathers are, and as usual, yukhei playing around and making everyone laugh. it was supposed to have it that way for the whole dinner, if it weren't for the youngest of them bringing up a sensitive topic for both his older siblings.
❝i kind of missed twenty hyung now,❞ the youngest mumbled, picking up a literal sushi and munching on it in the most adorable way that made his parents coo. ❝he's always nice to me. ge, jiejie, why twenty hyung not come here now?❞
being the closest one to the boy, yukhei took a table napkin and carefully wiped his lips with it. ❝we should have invited him, then.❞
with his signature smile, jungwoo chuckled at how the youngest was whining with how his father his wiping his lips. ❝you must have taken a liking to him?❞
with his small hands, the boy pushed his dad's hand away and nodded his head at his other father's question. ❝whenever hyung comes, he always plays with little sushi!❞ he then said, remembering those days where this half thai would ditch both his siblings just to play with him. ❝me like him, gege and jiejie also likes twenty hyung!❞
poor little sushi, not knowing that they do really share the same feelings towards this said hyung of his.
suddenly became quiet, jeffrey stopped chuckling at how his youngest brother keeps on complimenting the male that isn't present here, and turned to his sister who continued on eating without uttering a word. she even acted like she isn't hearing anything from their conversation.
not until their dad called her name. ❝by the way, ari big, i caught you being brought home by one of the twins.❞ his voice became stern with that subject. ❝care to tell me anything?❞
is that why jeffrey didn't see her around even after class ended? she usually comes home late or go together with him. not bothering to look up, the girl spoke. ❝we are just friends, dad.❞
❝i thought you replaced your boyfriend.❞ lifting up the mood, yukhei joked. news for him, they really broke up, but no one told him. in fact, not even everyone in school knew that they broke up, they just thought that the two needed space that's why they are so distant from each other. ❝how about you, milk guy? i can see that you're getting along well with your sister's boyfriend, i hope you're not telling him anything to blackmail your sister.❞
❝no,❞ he would never do that, nor anything that could possibly hurt his siblings. it just so happens, he got to break his sister's heart. ❝we're just friends—❞
❝i'm done.❞ she jolted up from her seat, taking the empty plate and cup with her.
❝hm?❞ jungwoo hummed in a questionable tone, raising a brow at how she was in a hurry. ❝you're going somewhere?❞
❝i have homework to do, so if you will excuse me.❞ she tried to put up a smile, at least she won't be obvious in that way, but she couldn't help it. she had her lips curved down as she silently went out of the kitchen with heavy footsteps.
yukhei had his brows knitted at how strange his daughter is acting, he had noticed it way before when she arrived at home. and then, he caught these two arguing over something, which was a rare occurrence since they were known for being supportive towards each other. just then, the oldest son stood up abruptly and left his plate that's still filled with his meal.
❝yanna!❞
jeffrey did the same thing he had done awhile ago and grabbed her arm. but this time, the girl was able to yank it back spun around in her own will, having that deeps frown on her face. ❝what kind of a sick joke is this?❞
the older then ran a hand through his head while heaving out a sigh. ❝let me explain, will you?❞
❝friends, you guys are friends?❞ she cracked up, as if that was even funny to begin with. ❝so friends make out like that? i should have also done it with jin, then!❞
❝what do you want me to say? neither of our parents know that you broke up with twenty.❞ he said, trying not to loose his temper.
❝that's it, we broke up, so there's no point in talking about it.❞ when mad, she gets kind of stubborn.
they were both in the living room, and they had their voices echoing as they quarreled. ❝i just want to explain it to you.❞
❝for what, because you think i'll be affected by it?❞ she neared him and fumed with that expression.
❝that's not it,❞ he paused for a while just to lick his bottom lip as it was getting dry. ❝i don't want you to think that twenty never loved you just because he moved on like that.❞
❝it does seem it like that way.❞ in saying that, she had a hint of bitterness in her tone. ❝tell me, what are you and twenty, really?❞
❝you don't have to know that.❞ he wasn't ready to let the whole world know that they are buddies in a sense of pleasuring each other. ❝but twenty really did love you, maybe he just had the realization—❞
❝that he's more into you than me?❞ god knows when they have started this behind her back, maybe even when starting their relationship? but the fact that it was kept from her and neither of them planned to tell her anything. ❝this is so unfair.❞
honestly, jeffrey didn't have any idea on what to say. first of all, he had no idea why they broke up. he just got to know that from jiro who also overheard it from the twins. when he confronted his sister about it, she just plainly answered that the two of them ended it in good terms so there is nothing to worry about. during that time, jeffrey felt like the worst person alive, just because he felt a tiny bit of hope that maybe he could finally make a move to his sister's ex-boyfriend. but this, he didn't expect all of these to happen at all.
❝you're smart, everyone is so proud of you, they rely on you, you are so perfect in our eyes, little sushi looks up to you,❞ yanna paused just to take a breath, staring straight to his brother's eyes. ❝you honestly are the best brother i can ever have.❞
this is it, this is the part where he should hate himself for making his sister feel this way. ❝yanna, i'm sorry.❞ and that simple apology won't do anything, it's not even enough.
❝you're so good at everything, you have everything.❞ she went on, already feeling the tears forming in her eyes. ❝are those not enough for you?❞
❝so let me get this straight,❞ the two then flinched when their dad's voice once again cut them off. ❝you are fighting over some boy, and this happens to be yanna's boyfriend, who's now her ex?❞
the two had plans to cover it up but what's the use, they were fighting in the living room and they didn't even notice both their parents standing there and watch them go on. then there's their youngest brother, hiding behind their papa. he looked to scared to approach one of them which is understandable since the two tends to get carried away with their temper sometimes, especially yanna.
❝dad, it's alright. twenty and i agreed to this, and we are still good friends now. you don't have to worry about a thing—❞ the female gulped when her father just went passed by them and took keys from the shelf by the living room. ❝d-dad?❞
❝go get changed, right now.❞ he said, also taking his wrist watch that's placed on top of the coffee table. ❝we are going out.❞
not wanting to mess with him, yanna didn't ask more questions and went upstairs. jungwoo let out a long sigh and carried his youngest son up, leaving the two of them there by the living room as he takes little sushi to his room, he looked frightened and was near to crying after seeing his older siblings fight.
in the midst of silence, jeffrey decided to speak up. ❝look, it was my fault. a misunderstanding was made and i—❞
but yukhei was quick to shut him up with a glare. ❝i never blamed anyone.❞
yanna came down this instant after slipping to some hoodie and jeans, looking presentable to go out of the house. she didn't bother sparing her own bother a glance and went over to her father's side. ❝where are we going?❞
❝to the suh's.❞
both yanna and jeffrey had their mouth agape with that casual answer. the female actually thought that they are just going to some theme park so she could take her mind of these things. it seems like she's now having second thoughts on tagging along. her dad looked pissed and no one wants to mess with that. ❝actually, i think i do need to finish my homework.❞
she failed to escape when yukhei held on to her hood and dragged her out of the house like a light leaf. jeffrey followed from behind, planning to go with them. ❝dad—❞
but his father had other plans. ❝stay here or i'll have to ground your ass for a good month.❞
🍌
was he risking it? sure hell he is.
he was struggling to get permission from his papa to leave. he followed him around the house, asking the same question over and over again, but still got turned down. now, he wasn't the type to go against the rules and be labeled as an ungrateful brat for not following what his parents is telling him— but he went out nonetheless.
he took his car keys from his room and managed to sneak in the garage, seeing his own car not being touched by his own father. maybe he didn't think that far that jeffrey would actually go out and catch up to them.
and right now, he was stuck in the middle of traffic. ❝you've got to be kidding me.❞
his eyes scanned the road and quickly analyzed where he should take a shortcut to get to the suh's residence and stop what his father would do. he gets a little reckless when mad, and jeffrey was afraid that he might start a fight with the family. widening his eyes, he maneuvered his car to that small gap, hoping that it'll get through and for all he knows, there's going to be another ghost road that will lead to the subdivision where the suh's are living.
❝should have took motorbike lessons with jiro.❞ he groaned while keeping his eyes on the road. but then he realized, ❝damn it, i still hate him for taking twenty to that bar. it was just supposed to be us.❞
and he couldn't deny that feeling he was when he saw this old geezer touching the half thai anywhere. it made his blood boil and for the first time in his life, he almost wanted to do more than punch him mercilessly. when he saw the younger hiding behind jiro, he almost raised his fist up and gave his own friend a beating. was that jealousy he felt? maybe anger.
it's either the cause of that perverted man who had no manners, or the way how twenty immediately hid behind jiro and how his small hands clutched on to his shirt real tight. he looked genuinely scared, but jeffrey was bitter that the half thai didn't run to him.
but the point here is, he should have used that bike which his dad owned. the keys were just inside his parents' room and he should have took it when he had the chance. the problem is, he didn't want to die early. not like he didn't know how to drive, but he just wasn't confident at it. ❝and then there's jiro, teasing me about twenty preferring bikers more than those who ride cars.❞
he pouted at the message he got from his friend after that time when he took twenty home, and waited outside, under the rain, just to have a talk with him.
upon finally seeing the subdivision in view, jeffrey made sure to park his car at a distance. he didn't waste any second to go out, bringing his keys and phone with him, and rushed to a certain house. he was panting for air and his eyes were widened when he saw the family about to get inside the gates.
❝wait!❞ he shouted real loud, even when he was still running towards them.
lucky for him, the family heard it and were surprised to see a tall guy running as if he was in a marathon, or his life depends on it. twenty was the most surprised of all, sweating buckets as he felt like this won't end well. he tried pushing his parents inside, and even his sister who was snickering at the sight, but failed in the end. he mentally groaned and was wishing for the floor to eat him right there.
❝jeffrey?❞ ten even called him out, wondering why these wongs were appearing out of no where. ❝your father and sister—❞
❝i'm sorry!❞ he apologized the moment he got to stand right in front of them.
twenty was shutting his eyes tight, wanting to stop this as he could guess that the older must have misunderstand the situation, but his fathers looked intrigued by his apology that making an excuse would be no use. ❝is it because of your dad shouting so loud for us that it woke up the whole neighborhood?❞
❝h-he did that?❞ when he finally caught his breath, jeffrey took this chance to eye each one of them and it seems like his father didn't start a fight, thankfully. then his gaze stopped on a certain half thai who's looking away.
❝don't worry, your dad didn't start a fight.❞ ten reassured with a sweet smile. though, both johnny and yukhei looked like they were about to throw fists at each other. ❝he just talked things out with twenty, even we didn't know that him and yanna broke up. it shocked us but everything was settled with just having a talk, right?❞
when ten turned his back on to the young wong that came here late, he gave family a look and got them to nod their heads with force. twenty sighed, if it weren't for his papa who got in between those two giants, there would probably be a real fight happened. seriously though, even with a petite body like that, his papa looked intimidating enough that he got yukhei and johnny to move away from each other and act like kids being scolded by their mother.
❝then,❞ since that was fixed, jeffrey now decided to settle this one and for all. ❝i have something else to apologize about.❞
❝hm, what is it?❞ ten remained smiling, johnny stood there with his arms folded across his chest, princess yawning and wanting to go inside already, and twenty panicking as seconds passed by.
he already had enough scolding for the day. he got an earful from yanna's dad. she looked guilty, but twenty knew that he earned it. and so, he endured all the words that his uncle yukhei had said to him.
but this, this is not going to end well. getting behind everyone, twenty did everything to give the wong a hint. he waved his hands in the air, made faces, and even mouthed some word in hopes that the older would understand. though, he got his attention, but jeffrey didn't quite understand what he was trying to say.
❝look, kid, we don't have all night.❞ johhny said, snapping the male from his stance.
should he say it? he just went outside and risk himself in getting grounded just to stop his father from throwing fist, but since that didn't happen, what's his purpose of being there? to apologize for everything. his mind was then foggy and his heart started to race out of being nervous. his hands were starting to get sweaty and being pressured under this man's gaze wasn't helping him. not to mention, twenty was confusing him with the sign he's giving from behind.
thus, causing him to mess it up.
❝i fucked your son!❞
