mistaken
jay whines for the ninth time today and his best friend sunghoon was getting annoyed of it already.
"you kept whining about how single you are and you wanna do sweet couple things with someone but still ignore those who ask you out. now who's fault is that?" he snaps at him.
"jeez, no need to be grumpy." jay rolls his eyes at him.
it's true, he really wants to have someone to do all those sweet couple things that he has seen on the television or has read in books. he have this bad boy image in school, but in reality he's just a hopeless romantic that craves for love and affection.
he doesn't even know who start the rumor that he was a bad boy. jay doesn't mind anymore as he already got used to it.
but despite having that image, girls and boys still fawn over him. jay has a daily supply of chocolate and love letters in his lockers which he feels really giddy when receiving them. well this happened in the book he read so of course he'll think he's living in a fairytale or something.
he just can't seem to like any of his admirers. they were all a different kind and most of them are really nice too but he just doesn't feel anything for any of them, even just a little spark.
"dude, you don't live in a fairytale. give up with all those sparks and butterflies." jake said, patting his back.
"whatever. I'm gonna get myself a drink." he stood up and leaves.
they were suppose to be having classes right now but their lecturer was called in the office, which means they are free to do whatever.
feeling lazy to go to the cafeteria, jay stood in front of the vending machine, waiting for his drink.
he knows it's kinda unrealistic to have those what he's dreaming of during the 21st century but still, he could hope, right? maybe the love of his live just hasn't made an entry in his life. maybe it'll be later, tomorrow or in the next few years. he believes they'll come someday.
just when he was on his way back to his room, someone bumped into him, making him let go of the drink he had in hand. fortunately, he still hasn't open the canned drink.
"I'm really sorry!" a girl with doe eyes looks at him with worry.
now what did jake just said awhile ago? that he should give up all those sparks and butterflies already? how can he when he felt it with the person in front of him already.
"I could buy you another one."
gosh even her voice was to die for. she sound so gentle.
"no need... don't worry. it's still okay, see?" he showed her the can.
"oh thank God it's still not open yet." she smiles.
can someone hold jay? he can feel his legs getting weak already.
"anyways, I really need to go already. I have something important to do. again, I'm sorry." she says before running off to wherever.
jay waves her goodbye and regret starts eating him when he realized he forgot to ask what her name was.
well, he won't be giving up until he finds her again. he was sure that it was love at first sight and there is no way he was letting that go.
----
it's been a month and he still hasn't found her. the day after the encounter, he gave his best to look for her.
he always go back to the vending machine, in hope of her passing by there again and he even waited with the boys at the school gate. that sounds creepy but he was desperate to see her again.
"are you sure that this girl exist and isn't just part of your imagination?" sunghoon ask him. "what does she even look?"
"she looks angelic."
"she sounds unrealistic!" jake exclaims. "I think you're just messing with us."
"I'm not." jay whines. "she's real, I'm sure of that. I saw her with my two eyes and we even exchange a short conversation!"
"I will seriously stop talking to you if you're just making things up." sunghoon scoffs.
"whatever. heeseung hyung will be joining us for lunch today. he's part of the student council so I'm sure he can help us."
"speaking of heeseung hyung, there he is now! it looks like he's with someone." jake pointed.
and there was heeseung, pulling another boy with him.
"hey guys. I'm sorry I got late. I had to force my brother to go with me." heeseung smiles at them.
"I told you I didn't need to join you for lunch anymore." the stranger scowls at his hyung before sitting down beside jay.
jay couldn't help but stare at him. he looks oddly familiar and he thinks he heard this voice somewhere.
well they are studying in the same school so it's not impossible if they crossed paths before.
"you must be heeseung's younger brother that he always talks about. the one in the drama club." jake says, trying to start a conversation with the new comer.
"hmm yeah. my name's jungwon by the way." he then smiles at them. trying not to be rude despite showing an attitude awhile ago.
that's when jay felt weird. he swear he has seen that smile before but he couldn't pin point when. well he got to admit, jungwon's smile was beautiful.
"I heard you and the drama club just had a successful performance last month. congrats!" sunghoon says.
"thank you. it was really hard for us since we lack actresses that time."
"that's right! he even had to cross dress since they didn't have anyone to do the role." heeseung laughs, remembering what his brother looked like.
jungwon wanted to stomp on him. his brother really loves making fun of him.
"look, I even took a picture of him that time." heeseung excitedly scrolls in his phone.
"hyung, please no--"
but too late. heeseung is already showing them a picture of jungwon in a wig and girl clothes.
"I'm not trying to tease but you look pretty as a girl. not that you look bad as a boy or anything. please don't get me wrong." jake says while still looking at the picture.
"t-thank you..." he promised to attack his brother later.
sunghoon then notice jay being quiet which was very unusual of him.
"are you okay?"
but jay didn't answer him. instead, he stares at jungwon and then it all sinks into him.
he was in denial of it at first but the picture just confirmed it.
"you're the one I've been looking for."
