jay and jungwon were known rivals in their university. they were both on each others throat to reach the number one spot, no one of them dares to give up because of their ego.

"jungwon, admit it already. I'm so much better than you."

"don't lie to yourself, jay hyung." jungwon smirks. "we don't want you hurting your own feelings, right?"

they would sometimes cause a commotion with their silly banters and everyone just got used to it already. some even jokes behind their back that they might end up together someday.

the two of them knows of it but both didn't pay any mind. they don't see it happening anyway.

"aha! I got a higher score than you." jungwon proudly showed jay his test paper, almost shoving it up to his face.

"you only beat me with one point." jay groans.

"yeah but that doesn't make a difference. I still beat you and it means I am better than you."

jay stares at him for a second before shaking his head while laughing. jungwon felt perplexed to receive that reaction from the older.

"okay then. if you badly want to prove you're better than me then go on a date with me this valentines."

well that put a surprise look on jungwon. what the hell does jay means?

"who in their right mind would go on a date with you? also, are you sure you're fine? I think you're sick right now."

"don't get the wrong idea. we'll be each others date on valentines."

and then jay explained that during the half of the day, it'll be up to him whatever they will do and the other half goes to jungwon. who has the better idea wins.

jungwon knows it's dumb and childish but then he still agrees to it anyway.

"game on, park jongseong."

"I can't believe you did that so you could've an excuse to take him as your date!" sunghoon laughs at his friend. "the things you do with that silly crush of yours."

"it's the only plan I could think of. I know how competitive jungwon is." jay scowls back at him. "also it's not just a silly crush. I like him, okay?"

"think about it, the school's rival going on a date. wow that's kinda cliché if you ask me. sounds like something you'll read from the books."

"oh shut up and help me think of a plan."

"are you ready, jungwon?" jay ask with his confident smirk.

"yeah I'm ready to see you lose." jungwon shrugs, not really looking at jay.

he feels so nervous. he's on a date with his rival? man this sounds surreal. that's why he wasn't surprise when their names kept being mentioned by gossips at school.

"so where do you plan to take me? this better be good because I don't wanna waste the day with your stupid plans."

jay just rolled his eyes at him before pulling jungwon hands and intertwining his fingers with him. jungwon despite being taken aback, tried to pull it away but jay was holding it too tight.

"we don't need to hold each others hands." jungwon says, almost in a whisper. he could feel his cheeks burning but he wouldn't admit that it was a blush forming.

"this is a date." jay said in a duh tone before pulling jungwon with him. feeling really giddy that he was holding his hands.

fortunate for jay, it seems like jungwon did enjoy it. he took the younger on the park where they rented out a bike. they stroll around the park and even had ice cream while sitting under the shade of the three. surprisingly, they were also able to act normal around each other, sharing stories and facts about each other. they still had tiny banters but it wasn't like the usual serious one.

"okay, I gotta admit that was actually fun. even if we didn't do much but talk." jungwon giggles making jay smile fondly at him.

"well does that mean I won now?"

"no. you still haven't seen what I planned."

"what is it anyway?"

"can you drive?" jungwon looks up to him.

"uhm yeah. why?"

"drive us to the nearest amusement park."

"if you plan to beat me in this, you could've thought of something different. amusement park doesn't excite me anymore." jay said as he scan the place.

it was already dark when they go there so the place was lit up with colorful lights.

jay was about to say something again but he couldn't help but stare at jungwon who was excitedly scanning the place with his eyes. the lights illuminated his eyes that makes them more beautiful.

jungwon then directed his eyes at him with his smile still on, the dimples clearly visible.

"okay I don't care anymore if I'll win or not. let's just enjoy this."

when jay said that amusement park doesn't excite him anymore, it was true but being jungwon gives him the feeling of excitement.

they rode and played everything that they could until they were at the very last one, the ferries wheel.

"are you still up for this one?" jungwon ask him.

he only gave him a nod and there jungwon pulled him to line up. the line wasn't that long so they didn't have to wait but what bothered jay was jungwon talking to the guy in charge of it... no, he wasn't just talking to him, he was whispering something!

he tried to mask his bothered face when jungwon looks back at him, still wearing that pretty smile.

"come on, hyung! it's our turn now." jungwon excitedly said, pulling jay with him in one of the cubicle.

the ferris wheel start moving after they had sat face to face from each other. jungwon was too busy admiring the view while jay was focused on admiring him.

if you didn't know them, you'll probably think they are in a relationship with jay being the whipped one. but no, they are rivals at school. a silly competition they started when they were younger but surprisingly made jay fall for the other.

his hearts melt everytime jungwon proudly stated that he won. he finds it cute whenever jungwon would glare and scowl at him after losing to him.

he didn't want to admit it at first, that he has fallen for his rival, since it sounded ridiculous for him.

but here he is now, making their competition as an excuse so they could go on a date.

his thoughts were disturb when they suddenly stop at the top. he thought that it was just part of the ride but then it's been 2 minutes and they were still there.

"what happened down there?" jay ask, peeking below.

jungwon laughs. "nothing, hyung. I asked the guy below if he could halt the ride when we're on tol already."

"why?"

"I wanted to watch the fireworks from here." jungwon beams and as if on cue, fireworks started popping out in the sky.

jay was in awe to see them up close but he couldn't stay focus on it when he felt jungwon intertwining their fingers together again.

he look at him confuse but jungwon answered him with a shy smile before looking back at the fireworks.

when the fireworks displayed has ended, jay thought that after it the ferris wheel will start moving again.

but it didn't.

"why is it sti--"

"jay hyung, I don't really hate you or see you as my rival." jungwon cuts him off. "the first time I met you, I actually like you already since then."

"what do you mean?"

"I actually look up to you for being good at everything that I started to work as hard as you too. maybe in that way you'll also look at me, you did but it wasn't the way I wanted you too. you thought I was trying to beat you but no hyung, I just wanted you to notice me too."

jay wanted to smack himself at that very moment. jungwon's confession made him feel annoyed of himself.

"still, I took the opportunity and continue this thing we had going on. I was sad that you see me as your rival but at least you give me attention. that's all that matters to me before but jay hyung, I wanted more now. this feelings I have for you grew already, I couldn't hold it in anymore."

"you don't have to, jungwon." jay started. "because I'll be happy to accept your feelings for me."

jungwon stares at him before answering. "what? I thought you hated me?"

"I don't. that competition of ours, which I started, was really stupid. one good thing I got from it was this feelings I have for you."

"you feel the same?" jungwon was honestly surprise. what he expected was for him to get rejected.

"yes. I don't know when it started but I always yearn for your presence. the smile that use to annoy me, makes my day better now."

jungwon didn't answer. he was still surprised. jay felt nervous because he wasn't receiving any reaction from the younger.

the ferris wheel starts moving again but jungwon was still having a hard time taking it in.

it was when they finally got off and was walking back to jay's car that jungwon suddenly starts laughing and clinging into jay.

jay gave him a concern look and jungwon was sure that he thinks he has lost it.

"what are you laughing about?"

"I just find it funny how we kept pretending we hate each other. we're so childish."

jay then joins him in laughing. "yeah that was really childish of us. but at least we're aware that we like each other now."

"yes and now I think I won."

"what?"

"because I made both of us confess to each other in this date I planned. nothing is better than that, jay hyung. so I won!"

"no, you didn't win. it's me who did."

"but hyung." jungwon whines and pout.

"I can finally have you in my arms so of course that makes me a winner." jay said before kissing jungwon on the forehead which made the younger blush. "happy valentines day, baby. from now on I'm yours and you're mine. let's start dating now." jay already has one of his arm wrap in jungwon's waist, pulling him closer, while his other hand was caressing the younger's cheeks.

jungwon smiles at him before nodding.

what a great story to tell the others once they go back to school. for sure everyone will be asking who won but the answer will be is that they had won each other.
