Chapter 3
Ravenpaw's eyes popped open. He wasn't in his den anymore. It felt like the place he visioned when he was captured by the rogues.
A familiar cat walked out. He had a gray pelt, and yellow eyes.
"Hello Ravenpaw." He meowed to him.
"Who are you? I remember you from my vision when the rogues captured me." The smaller cat asked.
"I am Ace." He replied.
"Where am I though. I'm not in Mapleclan territory." Ravenpaw's pointed out.
"I'm in your dreams y'know." Ace sighed. "But hey I don't have much time until you wake up so lets save introductions for later. Do you want exclusive training?"
"Exclusive training? Whoa okay!" Ravenpaw confirmed. He wasn't suspicious at all. He didn't know what this cat could possibly do.
"Okay! We can start tomorrow. Nobody wants to fight with a newbie first day I mean that's just mean. Heh goodnight anyways."
With that Ace and the dark place vanished. Ravenpaw was still confused, but as a unwanted cat he accepted Ace. He woke up when the sun was up high. He noticed Nettlewing waiting for him outside the apprentice den.
"Are we training with Rosepaw?" He asked.
"Not today. Today we're battle training!" She bursted sending waves of energy down Ravenpaw's spine.
"That's great!" He meowed. "I'm so exited I always wanted to be a good fighter to fight enemies."
"Your a spirited apprentice." Nettlewing purred as she guided him to the forest. He saw a devastated look on Rosepaw's face through. She probably got the elder cleaning duty. "Where are you going?"
Ravenpaw realized he was walking the opposite direction from her. He quickly went the correct direction and followed Nettlewing into the training pit.
"Okay! Lets see you try this easy move." She meowed once he was settled. Nettlewing leaped upwards and swiped her paw in the air. "Your turn!"
Ravenpaw took a deep breath, and took a leap up and swiped his paw in the air, but then he fell on his back.
"Haha that was priceless." A voice in his head said. It was clearly Ace.
Ravenpaw gritted his teeth as he humiliated himself.
"Don't put hard feelings on yourself! No apprentice gets that move first try. Next time don't tuck your tail when you jump. That's how you balance." Nettlewing comforted Ravenpaw.
Ravenpaw sighed as he continued training.
~* After Practice
Ravenpaw panted as he entered camp. Training took a deep toll of him. Rosepaw was chatting with Harepaw. He joined in on their conversation.
"I really wonder where Lightkit went." Harepaw sighed.
"Lets call him Lightpaw." Rosepaw meowed.
"Lightpaw." Ravenpaw echoed.
"Want to share this rabbit with us, Ravenpaw?" Rosepaw offered.
"Sure." Ravenpaw murmured. He bent down and took a large bite of the rabbit. When he was done he headed back for his nest. He closed his eyes and slept.
"That was early." A familiar voice meowed. Ravenpaw recognized the voice immediately.
"Ace?" He meowed.
"Lets train." Ace ignored. Ravenpaw nodded full of questions. "Let me teach you the death bite."
"Death bite? That won't be needed in battle." Ravenpaw took a step back. "Maybe a different mo-."
"Absolutely not. Your learning what I teach you kitty." Ace interrupted. Ravenpaw stiffened, but listened to the older tom. He demonstrated it and Ravenpaw watched. "Now do it on me."
Ravenpaw bit his lip, but launched himself at Ace with fast paws. As he quickly grasped Ace's neck he was about to bite but he paused. Ace flipped Ravenpaw over and sank his claws into his hip.
"Too soft to bite?" Ace teased.
"I didn't want to hurt you!" Ravenpaw protested. "I don't hurt my friends!"
"Would you say that if I was a Shadeclan warrior coming to your camp?" Ace asked amused. Ravenpaw looked away.
"If he's a threat then I'd probably do something." Ravenpaw muttered.
"Then let me teach you properly." Ace beckoned.
"Okay." Ravenpaw sighed.
Next Morning
Ravenpaw woke up early the next morning even though he had a training filled night. He learned the death bite, and a couple smaller moves. He went out of his den to get greeted by his mentor. That day they went to collect moss. It was peaceful. When they were done they ran to camp and gave most to the medicine cat, and some to the elders. At the end of the day Berrystar had something to announce. It was his first call since Ravenpaw had been apprenticed.
"Webpelt, and Dustfur are expecting kits. Mintleaf expects that they will arrive in a moon." He announced. The crowd of cats erupted in meows of awe. "That's al-". Berrystar got cut off as Mintleaf leaped on the branch with him. She eyed him.
"I have revived a prophecy!" She announced. Before she could continue Berrystar yowled and knocked her off the branch. A group of cats caught her.
"You may not speak without permission!" Berrystar growled.
"Coward." Mintleaf spat before limping to her den.
"What are you hiding!"
"Tell us what's wrong!"
The crowd's mood changed suddenly. They yowled their thoughts. Berrystar leaped off the branch before anything else could happen.
"A prophecy?" Rosepaw meowed in awe.
"It isn't our concern I'm sure." Ravenpaw assured her.
"He's hiding something!" Harepaw growled.
Suddenly, a muscular cat appeared from the crowd. He touched his tail on Rosepaw's back.
"Go back to your dens. Nothing's wrong." The buff cat meowed.
"Dad!" Harepaw, and Rosepaw exclaimed in unison. Ravenpaw dipped his head. He must be Eagleflight. When the siblings stopped barraging their dad with many words he turned to Ravenpaw.
"You must be that Ravenpaw Goldenfur told me about. Have my kits been polite to you so far?" He asked Ravenpaw.
"Umm yeah I guess." He stammered.
"Eagleflight, Berrystar's calling you." Rainclaw yowled from across camp. Eagleflight looked behind himself.
"Take care. I have to go." He finished as he sprinted away.
"He's never here!" Harepaw wailed.
"He's a brave deputy that is busy you attention seeker." Rosepaw pointed out stiffly to Harepaw. Suddenly Fernbreeze, Harepaw's mentor appeared from the crowd.
"You guys get to go on your first night time patrol! We mentors think you all deserve it." She explained.
"Which border?" Rosepaw asked, trembling with excitement.
"Forestclan. They have sent threats to us at gatherings and we need to make sure their corrupt leader, Ferretstar doesn't get any ideas to get too close to the border." She growled.
"Who else is coming on the patrol?" Ravenpaw asked anxiously.
"Emberpool, and Acornpelt will join us." She replied. "I expect you not to play around."
"We won't!" Harepaw promised as he dipped his head.
"Then follow me."
