fifty two
{perfectly imperfect}
Under the cover of darkness, Jungkook stood by Taehyung's side, the both of them leaning up against the car in the hospital carpark.
In the silence, Jungkook could hear the wind sweeping around him, snatching the cold air and sending him into a shiver. It tousled and tangled his already messy hair and Jungkook knew that he was probably due for a hair wash, neglecting his wellbeing over the past week due to a mixture of exhaustion and stress.
Slipping his lighter out from his pocket, Jungkook brought a cigarette up to his mouth, holding it between his lips. He flicked down against the lighter, cupping the flame as he lit the end, taking a long drag before exhaling the smoke into the crisp night time air.
From beside him, Taehyung swatted a hand in front of his face, nose crinkling in disgust, "I didn't know you smoked?"
Jungkook slowly brought the cigarette back up to his lips, drawing in a breath before exhaling the smoke once more. He heaved a sigh, eyes flickering to the sky above, "That's because I usually don't."
He wasn't lying.
He really didn't smoke all too often.
But at this stage Jungkook was stressed as fuck and nothing could draw his mind away from the task at hand.
Less then a few minutes ago the gang was gathered in Yoongi's hospital room, discussing the plan for the Banquet. After throwing opinions back and forth they decided that Jungkook should still attend the Banquet after all. That it would be better if Jungkook was actually seen assassinating the boss in plain sight, like some crazy grand gesture.
It was a risky move, one that could go right or horribly wrong, so Jungkook just had to put his faith in Bangtan. His own brain was now a violent hurricane, trying to organise the chaos in his life. Everything was changing, and he couldn't tell if it was for the better or worse...
As if his thoughts were heard out loud, Jungkook found his breath falling short when he felt the cigarette leave his lips. He quickly turned his gaze to the male beside him, pausing when he read Taehyung's expression.
Shoulders slumped, lips twisted into a frown, Taehyung pulled the cigarette away, tossing it to the ground as he stepped on the glowing end. He sighed, eyes flickering up to meet with Jungkook's unreadable expression. "You're not alone in all of this you know." he began to speak, leaning back on the car once again, "We're all in the same boat here. Whether it sinks or floats won't change the fact that i'll still be here with you."
Jungkook's eyes grew wide, "I'm sorry-"
"Quit it with the sorry's would you, it's getting kinda tiring." Taehyung muttered, lips pursing into a thin line, "Look, I get that the situation we're in isn't the best... but Bangtan would've run into trouble with the Jeons with or without you." Taehyung paused for a moment before his lips lifted into the smallest of smiles, "I'm just glad that you're on our side at least."
Biting down on his lower lip, Jungkook pushed himself off the car, standing in front of Taehyung instead, "Still, let me apologise for the other day... I didn't mean for you to get roped up with my father-"
"I should be sorry..." Taehyung said, "I was so caught up in everything that was happening, that I didn't even check if you were feeling okay." With slow and careful movements, Taehyung lifted his hand to Jungkook's face, lightly tracing his fingers over the small cuts that littered the male's skin. His touch was almost like electricity, trailing down where it paused on the side of Jungkook's busted lip, "You're not perfect..." He paused, swallowing thickly before they made eye contact, "But I really like you Jungkook."
Jungkook's body had a mind of its own as he snaked his arms around Taehyung's waist, leaning forwards as he buried his head into the crook of his neck, "Thank you."
"For what?"
"For staying by my side." Jungkook said, his breath warm against Taehyung's shoulder. "I'm a murderer, ruthless... but also a darn coward."
"No," Taehyung grabbed a firm hold of Jungkook's shoulders, pushing the male off him as he gave a firm stare, "Jungkook, you're actually trying. You're trying to escape all of this-" He paused, hands sliding off Jungkook's shoulders as he clutched at the male's shirt instead, "And on behalf of Bangtan, we're sorry for roping you back into this mess."
There was a pause between the both of them, the wind sweeping through the carpark once more. The cold air stirred and tousled their hair into a mess, and like his hand had a mind of its own, Jungkook found himself reaching forwards as he brushed Taehyung's bangs from his eyes, "No, don't apologise... without you guys i'd still be living a life of running and hiding." he sighed, "All I did was work and sleep, not another person in sight. So I'm grateful, really."
Taehyung's lips parted, studying Jungkook's soft smile under the silvery light of the full moon. He found himself brushing a thumb over the cupid's bow of Jungkook's lips, so soft and delicate under his light touch. This man standing in front of him had been to hell and back again, yet he no longer fled, instead he was standing up to face his problems, "You're the bravest person I know..." Taehyung spoke, voice coming out slow as Jungkook began to lean in.
Taehyung felt his back press harder against the car, Jungkook's hot breath on his neck and then the tender brush of lips. Burning as they made contact with his neck. Jungkook ran a hand through Taehyung's hair as the kisses became harder and more urgent. Another hand sliding down to Taehyung's waist, pulling him in close.
His kisses were now on Taehyung's shoulders and in his hair.
Taehyung could feel Jungkook's body pressed up against him, feeling his warmth and touch. Jungkook was making him wait and Taehyung could hardly bare it. He wanted those lips now, those kisses. And then Jungkook cupped Taehyung's face in his hands and finally gave him what he wanted.
As their lips crashed together, Taehyung felt like he was walking on air. It was magic, the way they connected. His mouth was so warm, the caress of his lips softer then he could've imagined and Taehyung opened his mouth with a low moan.
But it seemed like that was enough to pull Jungkook back to his senses, the male's eyes growing wide as he slowly pulled himself away, "Shit, I should've asked if you were okay with this-"
Taehyung simply snorted out a chuckle, fixing up his hair with a grin, "It's fine Kook, really."
Jungkook too then found himself smiling, taking a step away from Taehyung as the male regained his composure. He paused, brushing a finger over his lips as he frowned, "Hey Taehyung?"
"Yeah?" Taehyung muttered, still leaning against the car.
Jungkook paused, "Lets make a deal."
"A deal?"
Giving a small nod, Jungkook drew in a breath, "After all is said and done, if we can... lets start over."
"What do you mean by that?"
"College Taehyung," Jungkook said, earning a starstruck stare, "have you ever even thought about it?"
The male paused, running a hand through his hair, "I'd be lying if I said no."
Jungkook made his way back to the car door, leaning his back against it before shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans, "After my views on society shifted, I craved normality like that." His words came out slow and soft, the male thinking back once again to his time spent in the crime syndicate. It was her, that girl who sat him down one day and told him all about the wonders of collage life. She had the light in her eyes and a sweet melody in her voice as she spoke, and thinking back now, it was almost as if she was trying to save Jungkook. Give him something other then the crime syndicate to focus on.
From beside him, Taehyung gave a chuckle, "What would you want to be?"
"An artist." Jungkook said with no hesitation.
Taehyung's smile fell, "What a coincidence, same."
"No way."
"Yes way! If you want I can show you some-" Taehyung paused, his sentence cut short as Jungkook pressed their lips together. It was slow and soft, and he could feel Jungkook smiling into it before he pulled away.
"Lets get home first, it's freezing."
Taehyung was still frozen in place as he watched Jungkook unlock the car. He swallowed thickly, "Sure."

{Author Note}
Those of you who have been following me for a while know that taekook is practically in every single one of my stories... which is why I like switching it up. In 'The survivors' Taehyung was more dominant, in 'Outcasts' it was a switch, in 'Elements of Reality' Taehyung is obviously more dominant... and so in this fanfic I feel comfortable with Jungkook being a little more dominant.
I never focus on stuff like this, I come up with the personalities first and depending on that everything just naturally falls into place. But a few months ago I did mention that I have a Yoongi ff coming up and boy oh boy Taekook is gonna be in that and I'm already so in love with what i've written for it. You'll all love it, I can be sure on that ;)
