Save Me
Kim Taehyung only has one enemy in his short seventeen years of living and that would be a bee.
It seemed as if when he was a child, he somehow offended the whole entire bee race to the extent that he's deathly allergic to bees and their honey. Despite his rough exterior, the sharp cheekbones and high nose bridge, the hooded eyelids that threatened some students; Taehyung is secretly the biggest wimp in high school. And that single fact alone amused Min Yoongi more than it should.
Yoongi had assimilated to Seoul high school life after three months, already the best friend of infamous Kim Taehyung and awarded a medal after winning a local song contest back in November.
The seasons have changed, no longer the coldest winter the Greek and Roman Gods could muster for mortals to suffer, but now a cool breeze that would occassionally make some people think about grabbing a coat before walking outside. Yoongi and Taehyung zip up their jackets, Taehyung slipping the hood on his head while Yoongi adds another jacket on his two layer stack. "We literally have nothing to do and they're making us go outside. I could be using this time to do my homework, or-or study for my test!" Taehyung complains, shoving his hands in his pants pockets. Yoongi chuckles (it's always the same chuckle; low and raspy as if he'd been smoking, yet sweet and had an affect on anybody's body), bracing his body for the cold that soon washes him. The two boys step into the outside world, walking briskly towards the field in hopes that their body could warm up faster. "Tae, you don't care for school, why would you be doing your homework? Or, hell, studying for a test?" Yoongi asks, blowing out hot mists as he talks to his best friend. "You're right, but time like this is precious, Yoongs! I could be pulling some nerd's underwear, or stealing ten bucks for lunch today. I could be in the warmth and so could you." Yoongi shakes his head, "Why are you like this, Tae?" Taehyung grins to himself, an unusual pep in his step appearing, his strides now longer. He walks in front of Yoongi, turning around to walk backwards and look at his short friend.
"I live to disappoint, Yoongles."
Taehyung shoots finger guns at his older friend, grin widending when Yoongi drops his head to hide his amusement. "Yeah.. Yeah you do."
__
Least to say, winter or the cold don't stop bees from terrorizing Taehyung.
Once they had stepped onto the soccer field, Taehyung could sense the danger. As Yoongi shivers from the cold winds, Taehyung scans the undead grass coming back from their death, looking for an offense that stands -or flies- on it. "You know, you're right. We should've just stayed inside." Yoongi's teeth chatters as he talks, "I really hate the cold." Taehyung keeps quiet, glaring at his surrounding. "Something's wrong, Yoongs.." Taehyung whispers. Yoongi's eyebrows furrows, "What? I-I didn't hear you." Yoongi shivers. Taehyung frowns. "There's something wrong." Taehyung repeats louder. "Oh, you mean the bee on your shoulder?" Yoongi asks, head nodding towards the insect resting on Taehyung's broad shoulder. "What?" Taehyung pales, taking a moment before freaking out and flailing his limbs about.
"I wouldn't reccomend-"
"Oh for fuck's sake, I've been hit!"
Taehyung falls to the ground, signs of swelling already showing. "Worst day ever." Taehyung rasps. Yoongi falls to his knees, arms outstretched to help his fallen friend. "Oh my god, Tae, are you okay?" Taehyung shakes his head, glaring at him, "Do you think I'm fine after being stung by a bee? A shitting insect I'm allergic to?" He wheezes. Yoongi bites his lip, "W-Wait here. I'll get the coach." Yoongi stands back up, breaking into a full run to get to the warm gym where the coach is.
Yoongi watches as Taehyung is lifted into the ambulance, worry etched on his unusual paler skin. "He'll be fine." He whispers to himself and nods, "He'll be fine."
It took two days before Taehyung came back to school, back to his normal, goofy self, unfortunate for the students who had bully free days, but fortunate for Yoongi who had patiently waited for his arrival.
"I heard you were worried for me." Taehyung chides, stuffing a piece of a cookie in his mouth. Yoongi sits across from him in one of the abandoned cafeteria tables. He scoffs, dropping his head to smile a little, "No." He replies, picking up the silver pair of chopsticks next to his tray. Taehyung rolls his eyes, breaking off a part of the cookie he's eating and dropping it in his mouth, "Lies. I saw that smile. Besides, I thought you loved me." It's Yoongi's turn to roll his eyes, "I think you've mistaken me for either your admirers and followers, or your mirror." Yoongi mixes his food together, making sure the rice is evenly coated in the sauce. "I am offended! Don't deny your undying love for me! I'm a very loveable human being!" A student walking by drops her books, making a loud thud beside the table Taehyung and Yoongi sits on. "Watch it, asshat! I'm having a conversation with my child; keep quiet!" The girl grabs her books and bows hurriedly before running off out of the cafeteria. Yoongi audibly scoffs, "So much for loveable. You're more of a vampire-- you suck." Yoongi laughs to himself, "I could suck more than just a neck though." Taehyung winks. Yoongi stops laughing, his face twisting into disgust, "Oh my god, I'm eating!" Taehyung shrugs, biting into his cookie even more. "What? Sucking dick is a perfect lunch conversation. Maybe you're just weak." Yoongi sighs, "I'm not weak. It's just not a good conversation to have while we're eating." "God, it's just a dick! Don't deny that talking about dick is a good conversation. Dick is such a universal word for anything and anyone!" Taehyung exclaimes. "Yeah, you're a dick." Yoongi returns, reaching for his bottle of water. He opens it and takes a sip. "But, hey, you like me, therefore, you like dick. Min Yoongi likes dick!" Taehyung exclaims loudly, earning a few stares from other students. Yoongi chokes on his water, "Wh-What the fuck?! No, no I don't like dick! Tae, what the fuck?" He flushes bright, the pigment spreading from his cheeks to his ears and neck. Taehyung laughs, "Yoongi likes dick! Yoongi likes dick!" Yoongi groans, burying his red face in his hands. "Oh my god stop! You're embarrassing me!" Taehyung laughs at his best friend, letting the sound carry around the cafeteria. The laughter dies and Taehyung is left smiling wide at an incredibly pissed and embarassed Yoongi.
It didn't take rocket science to see that Taehyung is genuinely happy, his eyes bright with glitter, his smile authentic for once; Taehyung felt happy for the first time in a long while.
