Chapter 5
Brian, Mia, Dom, and I stood on top of a house, looking over Rio. "Let's run through the bases real quick. Who do we got?" Brian asked, looking over to Dom and me.
"First we're going to need a chameleon. Someone who can blend in anywhere," Dom said, clearly already having one in mind.
"Then we need a fast talker. Someone who can bullshit their way out of anything," I said, having a few people in mind. One of them being Brian's friend.
"This guy is going to have a lot of surveillance. We're going to need someone who's good with circuits," Mia spoke up, making Dom nod. "And with those circuits, Reyes is going to have wells. We're going to need guys to punch through those walls."
Mia looked at Dom and me, "What else?"
"Utilities and weapons," I spoke up, causing Dom to look at me with a smile. I'd been in enough missions or at least behind the scenes to know what we need. "Someone who ain't afraid to throw down. Someone to back up every position."
"Yeah, what else do we need?" Brian asked, causing Dom to turn and look at Brian and me. "Most importantly, we're going to need three precision drivers. Guys that don't crack under pressure. Guys that never lose."
"Or girls," I said, causing Dom to smile at me while Brian said with a laugh, "You know we got that."
After that, we used payphones and called up everyone, telling everyone where to go and what time to make it. We needed everyone to meet us tomorrow in this abandon warehouse that was perfectly huge for our work. It even had a few rooms to sleep in for right now.
The next day, everyone met up at the warehouse, meeting new faces and seeing old ones. Dom, Brian, and I walking into the giant space, watching as everyone walked over.
"I see you all have met," Dom said with a smile.
Gisele walked over, her arms out to hug me as she said, "You know when you called me to come to Rio I assumed it would be for something more exciting than this."
"Oh just wait, it will get much better," I said, hugging her before hugging Hans. "Hey Mrs. Toretto," Hans said, making me roll my eyes at him.
Everyone gave Hans a look, one that he didn't notice at first until Gisele said, "Excuse me?" "Nickname, don't worry," I said to my old friend, relaxing her a bit.
Brian started to introduce us to the men he brought in, "Yo, check this out. This is Tej, best circuit man on the East Coast. And this is my boy, Roman Pearce. We go way back, I met this guy in juvie. I pulled that job with him in Miami."
Dom smiled, shaking Teg's hand, then Roman's. "I've heard about you," Dom said, making Roman smile at the sound of that. His eyes wandered to me, clearly checking me out.
"So what's this all about, Dom?" Hans asked as Dom watched Roman who watched me. "Yeah, man, why did you drag us halfway around the world?" Teg asked us.
Keeping his amused eyes on Roman, Dom wrapped his arm around me, watching as Roman looked at Dom, then Brian before seeing that I was Dom's girl. His expression went from disappointment to a shrug so quick that I almost laughed right out loud.
"Because we got a job," I said, holding in my laugh.
We all gathered around a large table, breaking out maps to show everyone. Brian started to explain who the target was, "All right, so our target's name is Hernan Reyes. And he runs the drug scene down here. He's never been busted because he doesn't leave a paper trail."
Gisele quickly spoke up, taking the spot next to me while Dom stood on the other side. "No paper trail means no banks, and no banks means cash houses."
Dom looked at Gisele with an amused smile before looking at me, "Where's you find this girl?" "Believe it or not Dominic Toretto but I did have other friends then you."
My attention went to the group, "Gisele's right. Ten of them to be exact, spread throughout the city."
"And we're going to hit them all," Dom said, laying his hands on the table as he looked around at each of our group members.
Roman quickly spoke up, his eyes going wide as he said, "All of them?" He soon met Brian's eyes, looking at him like "What did you get me into?" Pushing himself away from the table, he shook his head, "That sounds crazy. You bring us to a whole other country so we can rob the dude who runs it? I thought this was business, sounds personal to me. Is that what this is? I got love for y'all, but personal ain't good business. I can't do this, homie."
As quickly as he showed up and opened his mouth, Roman was already half-way across the room, ready to get into his car and leave. Until Dom spoke up, making sure to speak a little louder so Roman could hear him.
"So what we're talking about is $100 million."
As thought of, Roman stopped, turning around as he quickly walked back. "You say what? Hundred million? See, sometimes I be over thinking, man, and I know we just met, but you just, kind of, got to go with me."
I continued on while Roman returned to his spot next to Brian. "That's right, $100 million, and everything we take, we split evenly."
"That's a little over $11 million apiece," Teg said, doing the math in his head. He smiled, quickly nodding, "I'm down."
Hans smiled, nodding as he said, "I'm defiantly in."
Gisele, hating to ruin the moment, said, "You can't pull off 10 heists on the same mark. You just can't."
I wrapped my arm around my old friend, smiling, "Oh come on now G. Don't you know em by now I have a plain?"
Hans spoke up as well, "Hate to say it, but she's right. As soon as we hit the first one, they're going to do everything they can to protect the rest." I quickly pointed to Hans, "And that my friend is exactly what we want to happen."
After we grabbed some black masks to cover up our faces, we grabbed some guns before heading out. Paying a guy to get us in, we were able to get into the Leblon house where the money was being counted and kept safe.
Once we were in, we rain down hell, pointing guns at everyone and telling them not to move. Once everyone was bunched together, their hands tied behind their backs Brian and I grabbed the money, throwing it into a pile.
"That's all of it," I said, standing next to Dom while Brian stood behind us. The rest of the team kept their eyes on the people.
"You a dead man, you're all dead men! You don't have a place to hide," One of the thugs said, anger in every word.
Dom took off his mask, while Brian and I did as well, telling everyone else in the group to do the same. Roman was a bit uneasy but pushed through it, trying to act all tough.
"Who's hiding?" I said with a smirk, causing the thug to eye us like we were crazy people. "Are you crazy? Do you know whose house this is? Whose money are you stealing?"
Brian started pouring gasoline on the money while Dom readied a lighter. He met the gang man's eyes as he said, "We ain't stealing it." The next thing I knew, the money that Brian and I piled together had become nothing but ash and smoke.
Dom walked over, kneeling in front of the gang guy, "You tell your boss exactly who did this. Tell him there's more coming."
With that, we slipped our masks back on, heading back outside. Dom and I joined a car while Brian had his own. Roman headed to a restaurant, keeping his eyes out for the SUV's to take the rest of the money out as soon as word got out.
Gisele had her motorcycle, keeping an eye on her SUV while Hans ride in a car behind one and Tej watched his from on top of a roof.
One by one, the SUV's left, everyone giving us the go on the walkys.
"Someone's protective," I said, one arm resting on the open window that let in a cool breeze. Dom look over at me, clearly confused by my words. "Don't play dumb Toretto, I saw how you were when Roman was eyeing me."
As realization kicked in, Dom smiled wide, nodding slightly as he looked off into the road before looking back at me. "I guess I just don't like people eyeing what's mine."
A small laugh left my lips as I shook my head at Dom's words. When Brian came into view, we quickly took off in follow, everyone eyeing the place that the money was now hiding.
We all met up where Tej was on one of the roofs, our eyes fixed on the police station below us. "I know y'all said they were consolidating the money somewhere, but, this, this is carzy."
Brian spoke up, setting his hands on his hips, "Well, this job just got a lot harder."
"If he's moving it into a police station he's got some serious brass in his pocket," Roman commented, always having some crazy comment.
Rico and Tego started speaking in Spanish, agreeing that this was impossible. "Looks like this is going to be a shorter trip than I thought," Rico said with a sigh. Tego agreed, "Hell, yeah, we can't do this."
Hans glanced over at them, ""Can't?" You mean, "Shouldn't."
I looked up at Dom, watching as he crossed his arms, eyeing the police station. "Your call Toretto," I said, causing him to suck in a deep breath. "I think this doesn't change a thing. I say we stick to the plan."
Roman spoke up again, making me uncross my arms and roll my eyes, already ready to leave. "You say what? This just went from Mission: Impossible to Mission: In-freaking-sanity. Whatever, man. I ain't scared, I'm just letting you all know, going in that building is crazy."
"I got this," Brian said to Dom and me, seeing my annoyance as he pulled Roman to the side.
"I'm going to smack him above the head at his next comment," I said in a whisper, making Dom look down at me. When I looked up at him, I saw an amused smile form on his face. "What?" I asked, blushing slightly at his eyes on me.
Dom shook his head, wrapping an arm around me and pulling me closer to him, "Nothing."
Hans glanced over at us, throwing a few chips in his mouth as he said, "It's about damn time you two got together."
With that comment, we phoned up Mia and headed back to the warehouse. Mia went to the public office and grabbed some blueprints, carrying them in as we pulled up in our cars.
She spread them out on the table, commenting, "The beauty of public offices? Public records."
Brian pointed to one the rooms on the blueprint, "This is where he's keeping the money. The vault in the evidence room."
Roman stood up straighter, putting his hands up which already got me rolling my eyes. "Uh, yeah, can I get everyone's attention, right here, for a second? We're talking about breaking into a police station. Is anyone listening to those words? Anybody? Popo? Five-O."
Hans spoke up, trying to calm Roman down, "You know, police stations are designed to keep people in, not out."
"That's why it's a stealth mission. We'll be in and out before they even know we were there," I said, nodding to the blueprints before me. Dom spoke soon after, "Well, we'll need to get eyes in there. At least to find out the make and model of that vault."
Roman looked down at the blueprints, asking, "Who's supposed to do all this?" When nobody said anything, his eyes looked up at us, seeing all eyes on him. He quickly opened his mouth, "What do you mean? Why me?"
"Because you got the biggest mouth," Brian said with a smile, causing me to push myself off of the table, murmuring, "That's for damn sure."
Roman, Brian, and Tej headed out in a van, letting Roman sneak in and drop off a small robot. Tej uses the robot and controls it from the van to see what kind and make of the volt.
While they do that, Rico and Tego head into the police station, setting a bomb in the pipe system to blow up the toilets. They dressed up and got in, saying they were there to fix the toilets when really they went into the bathroom and cut a hole in the wall.
Hooking up a small machine to one of the wires, gave us a clear shot of four cameras back at the warehouse.
Mia smiled, "Got it. We got it!" Mia and I high fived before looking back at the small screen. As if on cue, Roman, Tej, and Brian walked in, handing Dom a sheet of paper with the volt information.
Brian looked over Mia's shoulder, giving her a quick kiss before saying, "We're looking at four cameras."
Han was the first one to speak up about the cameras, "Yo, that's some high-end shit, too. Marker optics. Hundred-degree field-of-view. Ten seconds oscillation."
Brian spoke up while I stood up straighter and crossed my arms, "Yeah, that's a narrow window, man." "Can't we just tap in and replace the image?" I asked, looking to Tej who was a genius when it came to computers.
"No, it's hooked into a digital sync. They would know we were in the system. The best we can do is peek, if that," Tej said, shaking his head.
Roman spoke up next, saying something smarter this time, "We're going to need some real fast cars to get through this." Hans scuffed, "Not just fast. You got a hard right and a hairpin. We're going to need something agile."
Dom finally spoke up, looking at the group, "You guys mock up a track." His eyes went to me and Brian's, "Em, O'Conner; let's go get some cars."
Brian and I nodded, high fiving each other in excitement as we got ready to go.
Who's excited to see Emily race in the next chapter?
What do you think of the little Dom and Emily scenes? Do you like them or wish they had bigger scenes together? Let me know in the comments.
