Chapter 7

Once again, we were all back at the warehouse, Hans trying one last time to avoid the cameras but no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't be invisible to them. I was sitting on the couch, looking over the file when Gisele made a comment, pulling me back into the group.

"Close, but not enough," Gisele said as Hans got out of the car, walking up the stairs to all of us.

A sigh left Hans' lips as he looked over at Dom, "Dom, the window is too small, man. Only way we're going to beat the cameras is with invisible cars."

A smirk played on Dom's lips as he glanced over at Brian and me, "And I know just where to get them. Let's take a ride, boys," Dom said causing all of us to get up and climb into one of the trucks to won.

Yeah, we won a truck.

Gisele drove as we headed for the closed police station, climbing on the roof of the truck to over jump the fence. Line after line of police cars sat, ready to be taken. Roman, Brian, Dom, Hans, and I all grabbed a car, driving it out of the gate and onto the streets.

One by one, we all came to a stop in a perfect line I front of a green light, watching as it was ready to turn to red. Roman drove up last, parking by me while I sat next to Dom, who sat next to Hans, who sat next to Brian.

"Rome, what took you so long? I thought for sure you'd be showing up with some chrome spinners or something," Brian yelled over, all of our windows down.

Roman gave him a fake laugh and smile, "Real funny. I got $100,000 that says I can take you all in the next quarter-mile."

I couldn't help but drop my mouth slightly as I turned and looked at him, "In what? Monopoly money?" This caused a laugh to leave everyone's mouth. Even Roman pointed at me, "Hey, that's good, that's a good one, but if we pull off this job, I'll be paying ya with real money."

A smirk ran to my lips as I used my hair tie that always sat on my wrist to tie up my hair. A habit of mine when I race, "Alright, the next two lights. Hundred thousand."

Hans spoke up for the first time now, enjoying our comments, "We don't pull this job off, we're probably dead anyway. Let's make it a million." Brian readjusted himself in his seat, "I like that. All right, a million-dollar quarter-mile."

We all nodded making small comments to ourselves while Brian and I looked at Dom. "What do you say, Dom?" Brian asked, causing Dom to look over at me with a giant smile before looking over at Brian, "We talking or we racing?"

Quickly, everyone readjusted themselves in their seats, ready to race. My mind went over the roads in my head, recalling a few backroads and hidden roads that would get me to where I need to go much faster.

As the light turned green, everyone stepped on the case, zooming off while I held back a bit, taking a sharp right into a back alley road. My car zoomed through the backroads, making a sharp left as I drove straight ahead, a little curve giving me the advantage I wanted.

My car made another left, a smile on my face as I saw the finish line. I sped up, pulling out of the side road and back onto the road just as the guys were about to catch up with me. Everyone seemed surprise as I took the finish line by a car, turning so my car was facing all of them and stopping.

A smirk planted on my face as I looked at Hans and Roman who look in disbelief while Brain was laughing his head off. Roman stuttered over to Dom, "Hey, hey Dom, I see, I see why ya like this girl."

Dom looked at me with a proud smile, following my lead as we drove back to the warehouse that was starting to feel like home.

Mia had left to get some more food while everyone started working on their cars. "So, tell me again how you did that back there?" Roman asked, leaning against my police car while I worked on the hood.

"Easy," I said, standing up and facing Roman as I leaned with one hand on the open hood. "I have three steps to racing. One, always know who your racing, know their weakness, their strengths, everything. Two, Know the area, know every turn, every backroad, every Pizza Hut in the area."

"And three," Brian asked, making me look over my shoulder at him. I opened my mouth only for Dom to speak up, making his way over to me. "Beat their asses."

I smiled as Dom walked over a smile on his lips as well as he wrapped his arms around my waist, "You remember that?" My mouth opened to speak only to stop when the door opened, reveling Mia. With Vincent walking right behind her.

Quickly, Brain's smile disappeared, fast walking over to Vincent with anger. Mia stopped him before he could get to close, Roman following close behind him.

"It's okay. Wait! Reyes' guys were waiting for me at the market. Vince saved my life."

Brian and Vincent looked at each other, knowing saying a word. Brian's face showed he wanted to be angry at Vincent, to swing another punch at him, but he was grateful all at the same time.

Dom spoke up, shoving the silence out the door and determining for Brian and Vincent the next move. "You hungry?" He asked, causing Vincent to nod, "Yeah, sure."

A nod to Vincent, Dom said, "Good, because you're saying grace."

Brian followed Dom, holding out his hand to Vincent as he thanked him. A small smile appeared on Dom and my's face as we watched Vincent and Brian make up. Dom laid his arm on my shoulders, tugging me with him as we headed into one of the little rooms just off of what Brian likes to call our "Meeting Room".

"Want to help me fix up my car?" Dom asked, referring to his Dodge Charger baby.

Dom walked over, already pulling out his tools to fix it up. "I swear, your love for this car stands right by me," I said, causing a chuckle to leave Dom's lips.

I stood, watching Dom fix up hi car with such concentration that I couldn't help but get lost in it. If it were me, I'd sit back and watch Dom fix cars every day. He loved it, and I loved watching him.

Eventually, I walked over to him, my boots hitting the cement ground which created a small noise. My arms found their way around Dom, my head leaning on his shoulder.

"I love you," I whispered to him, causing him to stand up straight and turn to look at me. "I love everything about you, who you are, what you stand for. When you're on the streets, everyone thinks your number one love is racing. And its close, but I know that your number one love, is family."

Dom smiled, wrapping his arms around my waist, "Unless you're out there with me. Then everyone knows your my number one," He said, his voice husky but soft.

My cheeks couldn't help but turn pink with blush, my head dipping down into his chest as I hide my ear to ear smile. This caused Dom to let out a small chuckle, his hand lifting my chin up to look at him.

"I love you," He whispered, his lips touching mine in a loving way.

A clear of the throat caused Dom and I to pull away to find Vincent standing in the room. I didn't even hear him come in. Dom pulled away, completely facing Vincent now.

"Hey, Dom. Listen, I know that you're all set for this job tomorrow, but if you need an extra man, I could-" Vincent started but Dom stopped him, "You're in."

Dom's words surprised Vincent, causing me to nod, "There's always room for family." Vincent looked over at me, nodding, "Thank you, both of you." With a hand on my back, Dom said, "Come on, let's get something to eat."

We all headed out to join the group, everyone already sitting around with drinks in their hands. Dom on one of the steps, pulling me onto his lap. One arm was hooked around my waist while the other held his Corona.

Roman walked over to Mia and Brian who were sitting in a chair. "We're less than 24 hours from the biggest celebration of our life. This is serious stuff," Roman said, offering a Corona to Mia who declined.

Brian gestured to her stomach, causing his eyes to widen, "Are you serious right now? No way? Wait, is that why Dom let you win the quarter-mile?"

"Excuse me, I won that," I said, raising my hand that held my beer.

With a nod, Roman said, "Yeah, but from what I hear, Dom would have come in second, instead, Brian did. So it was a baby gift," He said, causing Brian to point at him, "No, no way, you're not taking that from me."

Tej walked over, putting his hands up, "Wait, wait, hold on a second. So, did he just smack the ass or did he grab and hold on to it?" Everyone laughed, causing Mia and Brian to blush and hug everyone that walked over, congratulating them.

I stood up, Dom and I walking over to the group with a smile, "Toast!" Everyone stopped and grabbed their drinks, raising them up. "Money will come and go, we know that. But the most important thing in life will always be the people in this room. Right here," Dom said, looking over at me as he put his arm around me, "Right now. Salute mi familia!"

Everyone said, "Salute," while clanging their drinks to others before taking a sip.

"Get some rest, we got a big day ahead of us tomorrow," I said, setting my empty bottle down before leaving Dom's side and heading off to our room. Immediately, I changed into some more comfortable clothes, the sound of people lowly talking outside.

I slipped on a flimsy, galaxy shirt with the sleeves cut down to almost my stomach and a pair of purple shorts. My hand went to the cross necklace that sat around my neck, the things that always reminded me of Dom.

Suddenly, a pair of strong arms found their way around me, tucking themselves into my shirt sleeves and crossing my stomach. A head leaned on my shoulder as Dom and I looked at each other through the mirror.

"Why did you give me this?" I asked, my hand still on the cross necklace.

Dom watched my eyes, "Because, it's important to me. It's only fitting that it lays on the chest of someone that is equally as important."

I smiled, looking at the ground with a blush. These words started to cross through my mind, reminding me of something I wrote years ago. "When danger comes, take it by the wheel, hold onto it tightly, and fly," I said, my eyes still on the ground.

"Where's you hear that?" Dom asked curiously.

"I wrote it, after my dad hit me. It always stuck like glue," I said, my eyes sticking to the ground while my mind seemed to wonder. It wasn't until Dom's lips met my neck did I come back to reality.

What woke me up the next morning was an arm around my body, pulling me closer to a hard chest.

Dom was protective even in his sleep.

"We should get up," I whisper, not needing to look at him to know he was awake. His head buried into my hair, his words getting mumbled in the process, "Let's just lay here a bit longer."

My body turned so I could face him, a smile on my face as I looking into his eyes, "When we get that money. We can lay around all day, every day if you'd like, but eventually we have to get up," I said, leaning up and kissing Dom's nose making a small chuckle leave his smiling lips.

"How do you do this to me?" Dom asked, looking back at me.

"Well, easy, a soft voice, badass attitude, a little grease under the fingers, and a flirty smile," I said, causing Dom's head to tip back with a laugh, nodding. "Yup, that sounds about right."

Finally, Dom and I got up, changing into some new clothes before joining everyone outside. Everyone was already eating breakfast, packing up what they needed.

I walked over to Mia, grabbing a piece of toast and some bacon. My eyes noticed Mia continuously looking at me, making me fully turn to her. Her eyes quickly looked away, making me give her a smiling confused look. "What's on your mind Mia?"

"Nothing," She said, smiling, making me give her a study look. It finally broke her, turning to look at me.

"You know, with every girl I've seen my brother with, I've never seen him look at someone like he looks at you. You're his girl, and even before you two were dating, you were his. Usually I'd have an objection to that, but you, you've been our friend for years and I couldn't be happier for both of you."

A smile crept on my face as I wrapped Mia into a hug. With a release, I walked over, joining Brian and Roman who were talking a bit with Vincent while Mia headed over to the computer.

Once everyone was done eating, they started getting dressed, grabbing their things, and getting their police cars ready.

"Hobbs is on the other side of the city. We're not going to get a better window," Mia said, looking up to Dom who was finishing re-going over the plain with Hans.

Dom's voice raised, looking over the group while he stood on the stairs, "Okay, guys, it's show time! First team in position, let's go." Dom walked over to me, "You stick with me, okay?" I nodded, walking over and grabbing my jacket, throwing it in the car for the ready.

"Come on, let's do this," Tej said while everyone raced off in their trucks and cars. Brian, Mia, Vincent, Dom, and I were the only ones left, waiting for Dom's okay to leave.

Brian walked over to Mia, talking with her while I closed my car door. I walked over to the stack of guns we had, grabbing two and loading them up.

"I thought you would have grabbed a crowbar," Dom's voice said next to me, making me smirk as I continued to load my guns. "Only when the victim is right in front of me," I said, glancing up to find a smiling Dom.

The sound of a car screeching to a stop in the warehouse made everyone look to find about eight police officers run out with guns. Suddenly, a huge truck raced in, making a sharp right turn and crashing into Dom's Dodge Charger.

Brian and Vincent quickly grabbed Mia, racing towards the exit while I looked to Dom who was glaring at Hobbs. "You just made a big mistake!" Dom yelled while Hobbs got out, looking pissed.

How is he here?

"Took me a while to find that tracking chip. But not as long to flip the receiver. You're going down, Toretto," Hobbs said. "I'm right here," Dom yelled, causing Hobb's to throw a punch at him, Dom quickly catching his arm. "Em run!" Dom's voice yelled causing me to snap back into reality and kick one of the police officer's in front of me before jumping over a table and making a run for the back door.

A few guys that had followed Brian, Vincent, and Mia grabbed them, causing me to run towards a window, ready to jump out of it.

Suddenly, a hard body crushed into my side, causing us both to fall to the ground, the wind getting knocked out of me.

As soon as my breath came back, I slammed my elbow into the guy's face, trying my best to get to my feet only to have the guy grab my ankle and yank me back down to the ground.

Two guys used this chance and grabbed my arms, trying to stop my squirming body. There was no way I was going down without raining hell onto these guys.

I used the two guy's that were holding my arms to kick the guy in front of me, slamming his body into the wall as I squirmed even more in the guards arms. They kept a hard grip on my arms as they dragged me inside.

My eyes spot Vincent, Mia, and Brian who have their hands up, police surrounding them with guns aimed right at them. I continue to struggle, letting out grunts and curse words as I kicked and tugged at anyone near me

Suddenly my body is thrown to the ground, causing me to sit up and quickly turn at the two guards that threw me, ready to fight them only to be met with a gun to my forehead. I froze, my breath strong as I glared at the officer.

It was then that I heard the grunts, groans, and the sound of things breaking did I finally notice that Dom and Hobbs were still fighting.

Dom met my eyes, his eyes going wide at the sight of the gun. He crashed into Hobb's, causing them both to break through a window into the room. Dom crawled on top of Hobb's, throwing punch after punch on him.

Mia was screaming at Dom to stop, taking the defeat while Dom was going to make every punch count.

I grabbed the officer's wrist that was holding the gun, seeing him distracted by Hobb's and Dom's fight. My hand twisted it, hoping to get him to release the gun but instead he used his other hand to grab my arm, holding me close to his chest as he let a shot go off in the air.

Everyone grew silent, Dom and Hobb's stopped fighting, and my body jumped slightly. The officer wrapped his arm around my neck, lowering his gun hand and aiming it at my head. "Get off of him," The officer said, causing Dom to meet my fearful and angry eyes.

I nod quickly, telling him to do as the guy said. I wasn't the first person to give up a fight, but when a gun is pointed at your head, you kind of throw in the towel.

Dom stands, keeping his eyes on me as he slowly puts his bloody hands up in the air. We both keep our eyes on each other as our hands are cuffed together, officers leading us to the back of the van.

Who can't wait for the next chapter? I'm excited for it.

Let me know in the comments what you want more/less of.
