Chapter 24: Join the game show

The show started filming simple greetings, then the two teams chatted and the two guests performed. Then there was a short pause for everyone to get dressed before the game.

Everyone went back to the break room to change and make final preparations. Faye told Yoko to go back first, and she went ahead to say hello to her friends in the organizing committee. When Yoko returned to the break room, she saw only a makeup artist and Hanna sitting there.

Hanna is a girl with sharp beauty. But not the gentle and warm type, but the type that others look at and think this girl is pretty, but too sharp and deep. At a young age like Yoko, Hanna has played many supporting roles and appeared in many shows thanks to the help of her family. If Yoko hadn't fallen into the eyes of Faye and Wanwan, this role would definitely have been Hanna's. That's what Hanna always thought, thinking that Yoko stole the role from her.

After all, there were many reasons why Hanna thought that way. Because Yoko was not as famous as her, because her family had spent a lot of money on her, and Yoko's family was said to be just an ordinary family. Plus, because of Yoko's introverted personality. When Hanna first saw Yoko act and sing and dance, she also thought that this girl would be her rival. Who would have thought that Yoko would just be like that, not becoming famous, ignoring what people said. Gradually, the people around her took advantage of her. Hanna also thought that because of her rising status, Yoko had to respect her and never talk back to her.

Probably the whole Nemo company was funny, no one thought Yoko simply didn't bother to argue with them. People who follow the Buddhist system are thought to be afraid of others.

Seeing Yoko enter, Hanna remained silent. The two remained silent like that until the makeup was finished and the makeup artist went out, then Hanna suddenly ran over and grabbed Yoko's hand, intimately saying:

"Yo, I'm sorry."

"What?" Yoko frowned and wanted to pull her hand away but couldn't. She didn't like strangers calling her Yo.

Hanna continued: "I heard from Lex about your assistant. She was fired, she talked nonsense." Hanna held Yoko's hand tighter, her eyes showing sincerity: "They were just talking nonsense, I never had any intentions towards Yoko. Yo, please understand me."

Yoko smiled slightly, someone wanted to act for her. But she didn't want to act with them any longer: "It's okay."

"Yo don't be angry, today I deliberately told Lex to arrange for me to be on the show so I could work with Yo." Hanna shook Yoko's hand and said

Yoko's skin crawled from head to toe, she frowned, preparing to explode, but her hand still couldn't break free from Hanna's. Just then, the door opened, and Faye walked in to welcome Yoko.

As soon as she saw Faye open the door, Hanna fell onto the sofa next to her. Faye watched Hanna fall, as if Yoko had pushed her down. Looking at Yoko's face, she saw that her face was extremely cold. Ignoring Hanna who was looking at Faye with eyes expecting her to ask, Faye went straight to Yoko's side.

"Are you done yet?" Faye asked Yoko, not caring about anyone else.

"Sister Faye, did you come in and call us out? It's almost done, Yoko just showed me some great acting skills." Hanna changed her face very quickly, leaned back on the sofa, propped her chin up and looked at Faye.

If Faye couldn't figure out Hanna's style, she deserved to be single forever. Faye noticed that every time Hanna saw her, Hanna would speak in a strange voice, and she really didn't like it.

"If you're done, go out first. I still need to prepare." Faye directly ordered the guests to leave.

"Hehe.." Hanna smiled naturally, stood up and greeted Yoko and Faye: "Then I'll go first. Yo, don't be angry with me anymore, I will listen to whatever you say." Before leaving, she didn't forget to change her tone of voice to apologize, making people who didn't know anything think that Yoko was scolding her.

Faye raised her eyebrows, and when it was just the two of them, she asked Yoko what was wrong.

Yoko sat down on the chair, picked up the water bottle that was on the table and drank it to cool down, still frowning in annoyance. But seeing Faye's concerned gaze, she didn't want to bother her with anything, so she simply said, "It's okay, Hanna was talking about my old assistant. She was fired."

Knowing Yoko's personality, she wouldn't say anything if she didn't want to, so Faye didn't ask any more. She just told her to be careful and then went out with her.

The program starts with a simple game like answering questions, the person who answers correctly will fight between the helmet and the plastic hammer, hold the plastic hammer to hit the head of the person who answers incorrectly and the person who answers incorrectly must quickly choose a helmet to put on.

At first, the game was still fun, both Faye and Yoko performed very well and did not lose too much. But gradually Yoko lost more and more, her actions were very slow so she was caught and beaten a lot, every time she lost like that she did not put her hat on in time and was beaten. Faye frowned worriedly and heartbroken. This was a game show with many cameras, usually unless a big problem happened, otherwise the game would not stop but would carefully film the reactions of each participating star. The entire audience was filled with spectators, and they were cheering enthusiastically. In such a space, anyone who appeared too isolated or weak could easily offend the audience.

Yoko was very strange, Faye noticed that she often shook her head to clear her head and had slow reactions. When the game just ended, the Blue Team lost a lot of points because of Yoko. Faye had been standing next to her the whole time to support her, Yoko stood behind Faye, frowning tightly.

"I suddenly feel sleepy!" Yoko whispered so only Faye could hear.

Faye hugged her so that she could lean against her and avoid the camera. Outsiders only saw that the two were very close and Yoko seemed very shy, but they couldn't see the problem that Yoko couldn't stand.

"Let me suggest stopping," Faye worried.

But Yoko shook her head, "I can still take it, just hold on a little longer."

If we stop the game now, it will affect both of us. Today, we came here as guests, we can't be too upset and demand to stop the game like that. Faye knows that too, so she can only restrain her anxiety and try her best to take care of Yoko when she can.

Yoko had a headache, was so sleepy that her limbs were limp. In a corner where no one could see, she was pinching her own thigh to wake herself up. She talked less and couldn't answer the MC's questions quickly.

Fortunately, the next game, both Blue Teams shined. Especially Faye, because this was a game that required manual dexterity, so Faye tried her best to compete and win. So in this second game, the Blue Team equalized the points lost from the previous game due to Yoko's loss.

Yoko tried to drink water to wake up, but it didn't work. To hide her poor health, she pretended to be shy and stood away from the camera, only standing close to Faye. Faye held her hand tightly.

"Just one more game, keep it up."

Yoko rubbed her shoulder and nodded.

Faye didn't know that Yoko had scratched her thigh just to wake herself up from the pain. If she had known, she definitely wouldn't have let the game continue.

This last game is a trivia game, when the correct answer is given, the chair will be pulled up one level. Whoever answers 10 questions correctly and finishes faster than the other team will win. Whoever answers incorrectly, the next person on the team will start over, and at the same time, the person on this team will choose which member of the opposite team will be allowed to continue playing. If no one wins, the total points of the members will be calculated to choose the winning team. A team of 6 people only needs 3 people to participate for 3 turns to finish the game.

This time, the members of the two teams competed fiercely, but because these were all trick questions, they did not pose any difficulties for the players. Both teams had the same score, no one was better than the other. The entire Blue Team was praying that no one would choose Yoko to participate in this game, because it was clear that her physical condition was not good, and everyone in the team realized it. The last member of the Red Team to participate was Hanna. This girl completed her game excellently with 9 correct answers, which was the highest score and guaranteed victory.

When Hanna finished her game and chose the next member of the Blue Team to join, Hanna smiled a bright smile that only she understood the meaning of, glanced at Yoko and said:

"I chose my beloved colleague, Yoko. We work in the same management company so we are very close." Hanna said with a smile without blinking.

Faye quickly walked to the judges to propose that she replace Yoko, since she was having health problems. But on the first floor, Yoko had already walked up to the stage, she smiled brightly and stepped onto the stage.

"Thanks Hanna, I won't let you down."

Only Yoko herself knows, she just bit her tongue until it bled to stay awake.

Except for Faye, the general thought of the entire Blue Team was that it was over, they were definitely going to lose this time. And when the first question for Yoko was asked, both teams and the entire audience burst into cheers. Even the MC widened her eyes at the question he had just read.

"The first question for the Blue Team is: There are 100 students who passed the university entrance exam. Of these, 55 students chose music, 44 students chose sports, and 20 students chose both. How many students chose neither music nor sports?"

As soon as the MC finished reading the question on the question paper in her hand, everyone shouted in surprise. Because clearly this was not a trick question, but a real math question that required calculation.

Faye and the Blue Team captain ran over to talk to the judges about this change.

No one on the stage noticed, Yoko slightly bowed her head, she closed her eyes to concentrate, her hand pinched her thigh deeply to stay awake.

"This question.." The judge was about to speak when Yoko answered at the same time on the stage.

"The answer is: There are 20 students who choose both music and sports, so the remaining number of students who choose music is 35 and sports is 24. So the number of students who choose neither is 100 – 20 (the number of students who choose Music and sports but do not choose both Music and sports) – 35 (Music) – 24 (sports) equals 21 students." Yoko answered clearly without missing any idea.

The MC listened to the answer, then looked at the answer board and stammered: "Yoko... got the answer right."

The whole school roared in support, Yoko's chair was also pulled up a step.

Faye looked at her, stunned, her hands clenched, her eyes more worried than ever.

"Leader, please stop the game. Yoko's health is really bad, she won't be able to take it." Faye turned to her team leader and said

"Calm down. Let's see how Yoko handles it. She's already on stage anyway." The team leader stopped her, his eyes still fixed on the stage. If Yoko showed any strange behavior, the whole team would run up.

On the Red Team Hanna's face was very uncomfortable, but she still smiled to cover it up.

"The next question is..." The MC paused for a moment but continued reading "...Find the next number in the sequence: 1, 8, 27, 64...?" This was again a math puzzle, not a trick question.

Yoko closed her eyes slightly in thought, then her eyes were confident and intelligent: "125."

"How did you know it was 125?" The MC looked at the answer in her hand, unable to be more surprised.

"Yes, the rule of the sequence is that each number is equal to the cube of an integer (1^3, 2^3, 3^3,...). So, the next number is 5^3 which is equal to 125."

The entire arena and the audience were screaming at an unprecedented level of excitement. Everyone had the same perception that the show was making things difficult for Yoko Apasra. Only Faye knew that someone was deliberately trying to harm her, not the show. The show was equally surprised.

Receiving the signal from the judges, the MC did not pause and continued reading the questions. All of those questions were not trick questions but were questions about mathematics, literature, chemistry and physics. It took someone with a very broad knowledge and very good study skills to answer all of these questions.

Yet Yoko answered all of them correctly. Faye was watching her being pulled up higher and higher each time she got the right answer, extremely worried. As for Yoko, she was using her last conscious brain cells to answer those questions, and every now and then she would look at Faye waving at her and smiling slyly to reassure her.

"And dear audience, this is the tenth questions. If after this question our beautiful and intelligent girl, Yoko Apasra Lertprasert, still answers correctly, then we can change the name of the game show to Road to Olympia. Because up until now, no one has ever answered all the knowledge questions correctly like this." The MC, although aware of the problem, was still very professional, joking and moving the program along.

"Why do the stars in the sky have different colors?" The MC shook her head, holding up the question board. "Who would ask such an Astronomy question, organizers?" The MC couldn't stand it anymore and had to speak up.

But suddenly the whole class fell silent, because Yoko raised her hand to answer.

"Yoko, do you really want to answer this? This is an Astronomy question."

Underneath her skirt, Yoko's soft skin was purple and bleeding in some places from being pinched awake by her. Now she just wanted to quickly end this game:

"The light we see is a combination of 7 colors: red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo, violet..." She raised her hand to massage her forehead, her eyes looking down at Faye's very worried face, she smiled and continued, "...The higher the temperature of a star, the more blue the light component, we will see that star as blue. If a star has a lower temperature, the more red the light component, so that star is red. Therefore, the color of stars depends on the surface temperature of that star, in other words, temperature determines the color of the stars."

Yoko looked straight at Hanna, coldly: "Luckily, when I went to study abroad, my class was a science class."

The whole school exploded, the audience screamed, even the MC was so happy that he jumped up and down.

"That's right, the Blue Team won, Yoko Apasra won a seemingly impossible event."

Faye, regardless of whether anyone was looking or not, stood right under the game platform waiting for the stairs to bring Yoko down. As soon as she stepped out of the hot seat, Yoko fell right into Faye, needing her to catch .

The MC and the captains of the two teams were very smart, quickly covering up, then announcing the award and ending the show. Because of Yoko's spectacular performance, this show was a success beyond expectations. Faye hugged Yoko's shoulders, both of them greeted the audience and quickly went into the stands.

As soon as she entered a hidden corner behind the stands where no one could see her, Yoko leaned into Faye's arms: "Don't go to the hospital, I'm just sleepy... Faye, take me home." Before she fell unconscious, Yoko only had time to say that.

Faye supported her, accidentally seeing the wound on her thigh, she immediately understood where she had gotten the strength to endure all this time. Suppressing the anger that erupted in her heart so as not to investigate this matter immediately, Faye carried Yoko on her shoulder and went straight to their car. Nhan also appeared, who had been sitting under the stage for a while, very worried about Yoko.

While carrying Yoko, Faye said to Nhan: "Contact the organizer immediately, find out the situation of this case, they probably don't know why the question changed like that. Call Nam, report the situation and ask Nam's connections, check all the cameras of this program, I suspect someone put sleeping pills in Yoko's drink..." Faye had been thinking of a countermeasure for a while now, quickly said: "Contact Doctor Tan, ask her to come to my house to examine Yoko."

Nhan listened and immediately ran to make arrangements. Faye carried Yoko onto the car alone and took her home. Tonight was really enough for the two of them.

When they got home, Faye carried Yoko into the room, without thinking too much, she just took off her shoes and carefully took off her sweaty shirt and skirt, and used a warm towel to wipe her body. When she reached her thighs, she saw that her originally soft and white thighs were now purple and red, with some spots even bleeding. Faye was furious. But she still wiped very gently, afraid of hurting her. Faye took another set of clean clothes and put them on her, covered her with a blanket, and sat absentmindedly in a corner of the bed, looking at Yoko.

Throughout the whole process, Faye's little girl never woke up once.
