Chapter 30: Talking with Danny

Faye's injury was not too serious because luckily it did not affect the bone, so she just needed to apply medicine and limit all strenuous activities to be stable. Therefore, after resting for a day, Faye continued to return to the film crew to film the last scenes before the whole crew returned to the city.

Due to limited mobility, Faye's scenes were changed to leisurely scenes that did not require much change of posture or movement. And the person who had to act for her was Yoko, Yoko's role had to be more proactive in these situations. When on film, the audience will see a beautiful and individual female lawyer sitting in a chair handling the case and a young female police trainee running back and forth actively doing everything for that female lawyer.

Two days before boarding the plane back to the big city, Faye and Yoko were scheduled to meet and talk privately with communication expert Danny before the final scene. Danny arranged to meet both of them and then talk to each of them separately.

The room reserved for today's meeting was Danny's hotel room. Her room was not small, and had a separate living room. Faye and Yoko sat on the double sofa, while Danny sat on a single chair opposite. Since this conversation did not require Wan's presence, she would join in later.

Danny remained faithful to her usual style, her slim figure hidden in a shirt, pants and a vest on the outside, her brown hair tied up with a pencil, her lipstick color changed to bright red instead of the usual pale pink, her glasses changed to round-framed glasses, making Danny look younger than usual.

Relaxing instrumental music was playing on the TV screen, and snacks and juices were prepared for both of them at the tea table in front of Faye and Yoko. There was a very gentle scent of incense in the air, bringing a relaxing feeling to the mind. Faye felt like she was back in the city, and this was a massage room. Not only that, Danny also prepared a blanket to cover the sofa, ensuring that Faye, who had shoulder pain, could sit comfortably.

"Hi Faye, hi Yoko." Danny looked up from her notebook, looked at them both, and smiled warmly.

Faye felt a flash of excitement as if she was sitting in a classroom talking to her teacher. Even so, Faye and Yoko obediently greeted Danny.

"We're just going to be talking today, okay? I'll ask questions and you two answer as you please!" Danny began softly.

"Do you two normally talk or text each other a lot?"

"With me, we text each other every day. If we meet often, we talk every day."

"Who texted or initiated the conversation first."

"Usually Yoko, she texts me a lot."

Faye patted Yoko's head, she also acted spoiled and rubbed her head against Faye's hand.

"What did Yoko text?"

"I'll ask Faye what she's doing, if she misses me? Hehe," Yoko said with a laugh, "Sometimes I just text her Hello Monday, Hello Tuesday, something like that."

"Does Faye usually answer you back?"

"Faye usually replies to me. But I actually texted her that way, not because I wanted her to reply. I just wanted to say something, then I went back to what I was doing. I didn't want to affect her work."

Faye raised her eyebrows slightly, this was the first time she heard Yoko say this.

"Where do you two usually go in your free time?"

"Mostly go to cafes, bookstores or stay home to cook."

"If I had more time, I would take Yoko to paint. I really want to take her but I don't have time yet." Faye looked at Yoko and said

Yoko smiled happily: "Remember that, sis."

"Before starting this trip, you two were together for five...six days. What are your feelings about each other after that period of time? Faye, tell me first." There was nothing Galaxy didn't know, Danny took advantage of the opportunity to ask close questions.

Hearing this, Faye paused to think for a moment, she leaned back in her chair and pulled the blanket over herself. Underneath the blanket, Yoko had been holding her hand from the beginning. She was also looking at Faye expectantly.

"She is a very cute, sweet person, also very sulking but still likes to tease me. She is a special person, she often..." Faye pinched Yoko's hand under the blanket: "... thinks a lot. Smart, clever but thinks a lot. Sometimes she thinks so much that I can't keep up. I just know that Yoko is worried about something and then she gets sad, but I'm not sure I can guess all the reasons why she thinks so much. When I can't catch those emotions, I usually hug and comfort Yoko. Yoko is very good, often sulking but easy to comfort, just need to comfort her. Don't, don't cry babe, we're just starting." Faye turned around and saw Yoko was teary-eyed, so she immediately comforted her. As soon as Faye patted her head, Yoko smiled.

Danny looked at Yoko for a moment and then asked, "Is Faye right?"

Yoko blinked to control herself before saying, "Actually, I'm not angry and want to be comforted. At times like this, just leave me alone, I'll be fine. I know I think too much, I'll try to adjust that."

"What about your feelings when you are with Faye?"

"She is.." Yoko turned to look straight into Faye's eyes, their posture almost facing each other: "... She is the warmest girl I have ever known. At first glance, you might think she is difficult and distant, because she always acts like that. But in fact, she is just building many layers of very high fences around herself. So if you want to get close to her, you have to overcome each layer. Other people might give up very easily, but luckily for me, I don't give up easily in front of anything, and from the beginning, because of work, she was very gentle with me."

"Faye let me get close to her." Yoko turned to explain to Danny: "Except for being very beautiful and talented, she is gentle and warm. She is warm like a freshly baked apple pie, with a crispy crust on the outside and a sweet and slightly sour apple jam on the inside. And the aroma of a freshly baked pie is known to everyone, very warm, very fragrant, a gentle sweet feeling spreading. And apple pie is also... my favorite kind of pie."

What she said was really sweet. Faye listened attentively and blushed. Yoko's hand under the blanket was still tightly held.

"Sometimes, when we like something, it's based on our previous preferences. For example, you like a certain scent, a certain flavor of cake, or even a certain location. If one day you meet someone who has that scent, they remind you of your favorite flavor of cake, making you feel like just being with that person makes any place your favorite place. Then you've met the right person." Danny analyzed, and wrote it down on the report she was holding.

"In the final scenes before returning to the city, there will be your first intimate scene. What do you think about this? Yoko says it first."

"Sister Wan told me it wasn't a very intense scene. So I think I can do it."

"I think so too, the kissing scene isn't too difficult for Yoko and me." Faye nodded and added.

Danny glanced at Faye slightly, then asked: "Have you ever met anyone who gives you a special feeling like Yoko?"

Faye smiled and shook her head: "Can I not answer this question?"

"Okay." Danny nodded, then turned to look at Yoko and saw that she had been staring at Faye the whole time: "So Yoko, can you answer?"

"Faye is the most special person I have ever met."

A thought crossed Yoko's mind that if Danny asked further, she wouldn't be able to hide it and would spill her guts.

"Since the day you met each other, which moment do you remember the most?"

"The times she cried," Faye recalled.

Yoko answered immediately without thinking: "I remember every moment related to her."

Faye turned to look at Yoko in surprise at her answer, but she wasn't looking at her.

"I heard from Thomas that you two participated in a game show and Yoko was injured. Faye, tell me first, how did you feel at that time?"

"Can I not answer this question?" Faye still wanted to avoid the issue, she usually didn't want to talk too much about her thoughts.

"No, you didn't answer the previous question." Before Danny could say anything, Yoko objected first.

"Then let Faye think about it, Yoko answers first."

"At that time, I just thought that I had to win. I couldn't lose to someone else." Especially to someone she didn't like, Yoko knew very well that she had a bad habit of wanting to win, but this time she didn't care. She wouldn't put up with Hanna anymore.

With that, both Yoko and Danny turned to look at Faye, waiting.

Facing Yoko's expectant gaze, Faye sighed, saying the first answer that came to her mind when she heard this question:

"When I participated in that game show, I was afraid I would lose her."

Unable to believe Faye's answer, Yoko's heart beat fast. Faye was at it again, doing things that made Yoko unable to calm down.

Danny looked attentively at the surprised and touched expression on Yoko's face, and Faye's awkward expression of wanting to hide it but not wanting to lie to her, and silently noted the content in the file.

"Before we started everything, I asked this question in the first workshop. Now I ask again, can you two answer honestly? What is your relationship status?"

Faye sat up straight, seeing Yoko looking at her waiting for her to answer first: "Single."

"Me too, single." Yoko replied right after Faye.

Danny smiled slightly: "Last question before we get into the private talk. How do you two define your position in each other's hearts? Faye?"

"It's... little sister." Faye felt a little guilty for some reason and whispered.

This time it was Yoko's turn to be silent, she had already let go of Faye's hand.

"I don't want to answer this question." Yoko was straightforward, until she figured out what she should do next, she didn't want to talk, didn't want to be sisters, didn't want to be colleagues, didn't want to be friends.

Danny pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose and smiled: "Okay. Now, please invite Yoko out. I want to talk to Faye for a bit, then I'll come to you."

When only Faye and Danny were left in the room, Danny still kept her gentle smile as usual: "Have some tea Faye, I think you'll like the taste of it."

Faye thanked her and drank some tea.

"I looked through your family history. How long has it been since you visited your family?" Danny asked gently.

"It's been a few months since I've been home. I'll come back when I have free time."

"You visited Yoko's house, what do you think about her family?"

Faye remembers her perfect family: "Yoko was born into a rich, complete and, in my opinion, very happy family."

"Yoko is quite introverted and self-conscious sometimes. Do you know why?" Danny had realized this long ago.

"No, I don't know." Faye shook her head.

"Yoko didn't tell you?"

"If she wants to talk, I'm willing to listen." And if Yoko doesn't want to, Faye will never force her to ask.

"Tell me about your life when you were a child!"

"When I was 7 years old, my mother passed away. I lived with my grandparents in the countryside. They raised me. When I went to university, I started performing a lot, and then went abroad for several years. After that, when I returned, I participated in a beauty pageant and won..." Faye slowly recounted her life story. Although it was a bit difficult to understand why Danny asked these questions, because these were all things that everyone knew.

Danny also patiently sat and listened to the whole thing: "What about before the age of 7?" She asked curiously.

"I don't remember." Faye shrugged, she had no memories before the age of seven.

"You don't remember because you was too young to remember. Or maybe something happened that made you forget." Danny was a bit curious.

Faye shook her head. As if she didn't know.

Danny wrote in her notebook: "Sometimes the loss in the past is so great that you forget a painful memory. This will also affect you when you grow up."

Faye frowned in confusion: "How does it affect me?"

"There are many types. Sometimes a painful past will make a person become indulgent, or become more withdrawn and self-conscious. Sometimes, that painful memory affects them so much that they unconsciously reject anything that their subconscious thinks can hurt them again. It's like the saying that once bitten by a snake, they are afraid of rope for years. It's a kind of self-defense mechanism of the human brain."

"I don't think it happened to me." Faye immediately denied.

Danny laughed: "Sometimes that defense mechanism has already happened or is happening, but you don't even know it."

"What does this have to do with the movie?" Faye said cautiously.

Faye was unaware that her self-defense mechanism was being activated.

Danny sensed this, so she just smiled gently. Weighing her words, she added:

"Faye, this TV series is not as simple as just having a good performance. Because besides acting, the movie also has countless harsh conditions and requirements. If you refuse to leave your comfort zone to face challenges, it will cause you to go backwards. A small boat going against the current, if it doesn't move forward, it will move backward. You are still holding back like that, don't you realize it yourself?"

"Is your biggest obstacle on your path to success, yourself?" Danny looked directly at Faye.

Faye didn't answer this, just stared at Danny. After a moment she said

"So what should I do?"

Danny propped her chin up and looked at Faye: "Both you and Yoko, really need to review the wounds of the past. If you keep hiding it, you will never be whole."
