Chapter 73: Love

Yoko sat in the car with Neko, too anxious to ask many questions for fear the answer would be something terrible. But when she realized the road ahead led straight to the city's central hospital, Yoko couldn't stay calm anymore.

"Why are we going to the hospital?"

Neko took Yoko's hand, patted it reassuringly, and began to explain.

Today, Thien and Nam, with strong assistance from the Lertprasert family, finally tracked down the location where Danny had been holding Faye. Just as Yoko's father had said, Faye had never gone far. Thien had found this location by tracing Danny's underground transactions. She had purchased the property anonymously a long time ago, preparing for everything.

Adding to this were several reports from people in the vicinity to the police, about the light from a mirror flashing SOS signals through the window for many days. Unexpectedly, when Thien rushed to the scene and surrounded the place, there was no one there. Only a bloody bathroom remained.

Thien was contacted by the hospital directly reporting the news.

"Then Thien called me to pick you up and bring you here."

"What happened to Faye?" Yoko trembled all over, burying her face in her hands, weak and afraid.

Neko's heart ached just watching her.

"Faye cut her wrists, losing a lot of blood. When Thien arrived, the doctor said that if Faye had been brought to the hospital just a little bit later, she wouldn't have been alive." Neko put her arm around Yoko, hugging her tightly: "She's out of emergency now, she's okay."

Held by her sister, Yoko suppressed her cries. Neko comforted her.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Neko immediately led Yoko to the hospital room Thien had mentioned. When they arrived, they saw Thien and Nam standing outside the door, talking. It wasn't hard to see the relaxed expressions on both of their faces. For the past three months, no one had lived a peaceful life. As soon as Nam saw Yoko approaching, she stepped forward, put an arm around her shoulder, and patted her.

No one said much to each other, but they all knew what they had been through and how happy they felt now that Faye was back.

"Go in, dear." Nam said softly, nudging Yoko inside.

Inside, Doctor Tan was checking Faye's vital signs. As soon as she saw Yoko, Doctor Tan nodded and then went outside, leaving the two of them alone.

On the hospital bed, Faye was sleeping peacefully. One arm was bandaged from her injury, and several IV lines were connected to her. Faye's face was pale from excessive blood loss, her face gaunt and drawn. Her whole body had also become much thinner, proving that Faye had not lived well at all during the past three months.

Yoko looked very carefully, but was afraid to step forward. Yoko was scared that this was a dream, and that if she took one step, Faye would disappear again.

Has she truly returned?

The pressure exploded, and Yoko covered her mouth with both hands, sinking to the floor. She didn't dare to cry aloud for fear of disturbing the sleeping person. Yoko just sat quietly in one spot, trying not to wake Faye.

But it seemed as though she sensed Yoko's presence. Her eyelids fluttered slightly, and Faye slowly opened her eyes.

As soon as she clearly saw who it was, Faye couldn't control her urge to sit up.

Seeing this, Yoko immediately rushed to Faye's side.

"Don't..." Yoko caressed Faye's shoulder, telling Faye to lie still.

"I thought I was dreaming of you again." Faye's voice was hoarse, she said weakly.

Yoko just sat quietly by the hospital bed, silently, tears falling silently, wetting the sleeve of Faye's uninjured arm.

Even Faye's eyes were drenched in tears. She truly thought she wouldn't make it. If Danny had burst in just a little bit later, or had kept Faye there without bringing her to the hospital, Faye wouldn't have woken up again.

The two didn't say another word to each other, but their tears expressed everything. Sitting on a chair beside the hospital bed, Yoko slowly moved closer and gently held one of Faye's fingers. But Faye didn't just want that. Ignoring the IV needles in her arm, Faye slowly took Yoko's hand. It was a very gentle handhold, but it conveyed everything.

Yoko buried her head in Faye's hand, sobbing.

Three months, the two of them had been apart for three months. Three months of torture with the feeling that they would never see each other again, but this time, everything was truly over.

Faye looked at her little girl, finally feeling at ease. This wasn't a dream; she had truly returned to Yoko's side. Her little girl, the strongest, most obedient, most talented girl. She was okay; she hadn't done anything foolish for the past three months. Everything was truly worth it.

Sleepiness swept over Faye once more. She smiled, closed her eyes, and drifted off.

A long time later, Yoko stepped out to meet everyone. Faye had finally returned; everyone could finally smile and relax.

"How many days will she have to stay here?"

Thien recounted Doctor Tan's words to Yoko. Faye had two very deep cuts on her wrist, losing too much blood. However, because she was brought to the hospital in time, she was saved. Faye would stay here for the next five days for observation, both for her wound and for a general health check-up. If there were no more problems, she could go home.

Yoko nodded: "I'll stay here with her. Please ask Nhan to get me some things."

No one objected to Yoko's suggestion; everyone understood that Yoko would definitely not leave Faye again.

Faye's family in the countryside had also been informed; they might arrive tomorrow morning. Thien also reassured Faye's family that Faye was stable. This time, with Faye's return, everyone had to thank heaven and earth. It was clear the injuries were self-inflicted by Faye to get to the hospital. If Faye hadn't acted decisively, she might have been hypnotized and taken away by Danny again.

"What about Danny?" Yoko asked; the perverse woman hadn't appeared at the hospital.

Thien shook her head. Thanks to Tan's connections, Thien checked the hospital's CCTV. Immediately after bringing Faye in, Danny gave Thien's information to the hospital. She lingered, watching Faye for a long time, and then left with her henchman. When Thien arrived and began questioning, she learned that Danny had left the country for a neighboring one immediately afterward. The airport records confirmed that Danny was no longer in this country.

That woman was truly mysterious and elusive, and very intelligent. If she hadn't anticipated Faye's actions this time, the outcome would not have been this good.

"Tomorrow, when Faye is better, the police will come here and file an investigation report. With direct testimony from Faye, they can definitely open a case and issue an arrest warrant. She won't be able to return to this country."

After Thien finished speaking, she patted Yoko's shoulder and left. Nam was even sweeter, hugging Yoko tightly and comforting her.

"Take care of her for me. Don't let her disappear again. I'll go get some things and then come back to you." Nam had finally returned to her cheerful self. Her best friend was back; what could be happier?

Yoko nodded, waving goodbye to everyone until only Neko remained.

Neko then asked with concern: "Are you okay?"

This time, Yoko could smile happily: "Don't worry, I'm very happy."

Neko felt more at ease hearing that.

Don't think that Faye's return meant everything was over. For the past three months, so many things had happened that no one could believe this peace would come. Neko had to ask repeatedly if Yoko was okay, because she truly understood her younger sister; the girl had been depressed for the entire three months.

Everyone needs time to heal.

When Yoko returned to Faye's hospital room and sat by her side, the only thing she did was gaze at Faye, observing her very carefully. God knew how much she had missed this person. And today's joy had come so suddenly that Yoko still hadn't gotten used to it.

Suddenly, Faye shifted, leaving a space on the hospital bed. Her eyes were still closed, but Faye spoke softly, knowing Yoko was right beside her.

"Come lie with me."

Yoko smiled. She stood up, gently kissed Faye's lips, then lay down right next to Faye. The little girl was very considerate; she was thin, so when she lay on her side, she didn't take up much space. Yoko also didn't lie on Faye's shoulder but just lay right beside her.

The VIP room's hospital bed was actually very large, so it wasn't difficult for Yoko. She lay quietly, her hand gently holding Faye's shirt, continuously inhaling Faye's familiar body scent.

"I miss you."

"Mmm..." Already deeply asleep from the medication, Faye only responded softly.

"I love you." Yoko snuggled into Faye, her hand loosely around Faye's waist.

She thought Faye was asleep and wouldn't answer.

But a moment later, Faye whispered, "Don't leave me."

Four words encompassing so much meaning.

I love you too.

I need you.

Can't live without you.

Let's never leave each other, forever.

....

Yoko stayed with Faye all that night. Assistant Nhan, after preparing some essentials for both Faye and Yoko, returned and, realizing Yoko's difficulty, borrowed an extra bed from the hospital for family members so Yoko had a place to sleep.

Nhan even thoughtfully prepared food and drinks before leaving the hospital. There truly wasn't any room for an assistant to intrude on the two's personal space.

At dawn that day, unlike other days, even though it was very early, the space was much brighter. Faye was a patient; her body was weakened, and she had lost too much blood, so she should have been sleeping peacefully. But Faye woke up early in the morning, perhaps due to her habit of not being able to sleep while imprisoned, or perhaps due to her habit of gazing at the view outside the window from when it was still dark until the sky brightened. All of this made Faye not want to continue sleeping.

To this day, Faye still couldn't believe she had escaped that place; she hadn't dared to rejoice or relax yet. The wound on her hand was still very fresh, reminding Faye that everything was real and had just happened. Faye had almost traded her life for freedom.

At this moment, Faye truly just wanted peace.

As for Yoko, she had been sleepless for many days, but last night was the most profound and peaceful sleep she had gotten. When she opened her eyes, she saw that the person in the bed next to her was already awake. Faye quietly listened and gazed at the sky outside the window, while Yoko silently watched Faye.

Three months, Yoko transformed from a little princess, facing storms alone, learning to fall, get up, and then be knocked down again. And also three months, Faye, from an extraordinary queen, realized how precious life was, what to hold onto and what to let go of.

Both learned what it meant not to give up and also realized what was most important.

Feeling someone looking at her, Faye turned her head and saw that Yoko had also woken up. Smiling a radiant and beautiful smile, Faye's eyes were gentle.

"Are you awake? Do you want breakfast?"

Look at her; who would know who was just kidnapped for three months? Yoko shook her head, saying nothing, just sat up and crawled into the bed next to Faye, snuggling into her arms, hugging her waist.

Faye quietly comforted her small girlfriend. This embrace was like before, on the train while filming "The Journey," when they weren't close yet but hugged in the canteen car in the morning. The two of them just silently gazed at the sky. They still had a lot of time together, many opportunities to tell each other about what had made them sad. But at this moment, just being silent and holding each other was more than enough.

That day, Faye's family came to visit. As soon as they saw Faye safe, everyone was overjoyed to tears. And also very angry about what Faye had endured.

Faye's mother wanted to stay and take care of Faye, but Faye told her not to stay at the hospital; if she liked, she could wait for her at her house. The whole family agreed.

Only Yoko, Faye didn't tell her to leave, and Yoko herself stayed put, refusing to go home.

Both had reached a level of obsession, not wanting the other to leave their sight.

In the morning, Faye's relatives only visited for a while, then the police came to record the incident.

News of Faye Peraya's return was being kept under very strict wraps. Even Faye herself requested the police to open a case related to Danny; if they were complacent and let her go, it could very well cause danger later on.

Faye couldn't deny that Danny was a very difficult person to deal with. If it weren't for that day, after Danny returned and discovered that Thien's people had found the town, Danny wouldn't have stirred things up and forced Faye to leave. Faye understood that her return was due to luck.

Sitting nearby, Yoko gently took Faye's hand again.

Seeing Yoko's expression and how everyone cared about both of them, Faye guessed that this incident had a significant impact on Yoko. However, no matter how subtly Faye asked, Yoko just smiled and shook her head.

"It's good that you're back." She always just said that.

Apart from Faye's family, the happiest people about Faye's return this time were Ninestar and Galaxy. But contrary to their expectations, when they visited, Faye Peraya was not in a hurry to discuss work matters. Citing health reasons, Faye declined everything.

Information about Faye at the hospital was kept very confidential. But even so, rumors about Faye Peraya's return had begun to spread. And once someone starts, others will be curious and follow up. Fans realized that even Yoko hadn't appeared for several days. Some even rumored that Yoko was taking care of Faye in a VIP room at some hospital. Faye even smiled at this rumor; truly, fans always guessed everything very accurately.

Aside from quietly following Faye, Faye also noticed that Yoko had matured a lot, no longer shy and easily blushing as before. Furthermore, Yoko took exceptionally good care of Faye, so meticulously that Faye was surprised; she didn't let Faye touch anything at all.

"My girlfriend has grown up so much. If I go away again, you'll definitely become even more charming and mature..." Faye joked.

But just a joke made Yoko freeze, dropping the phone she was holding.

"Where are you going?" The joyful expression on Yoko's face immediately vanished, replaced by a chaotic and fearful gaze.

Faye's heart skipped a beat. At this moment, she truly realized how profoundly her three-month absence had affected Yoko.

A few days later, on the day Faye was discharged from the hospital, Faye's friends—from Thien, Nam, Tan to assistant Nhan—all followed and escorted Faye all the way home. Nam was always the cheerful member of the group, so Nam decided to throw a cleansing party for Faye at home, to ward off bad luck and welcome happiness.

Nam organized an intimate party at Faye's house, with the promise of only drinking and sharing stories. And Nam did just that, only telling joyful stories.

Of course, the person who wasn't allowed to drink a single drop of alcohol was Faye. Even with just a glass of water in her hand, Faye was very happy watching everyone play. One injured hand was heavily bandaged, almost motionless. Faye only had her other hand free to clink her water glass with her friends. Yoko still sat quietly beside her. At this point, she truly seemed like a quiet little wife.

Astutely, Yoko noticed the mark on Faye's finger, where her and Faye's couple ring used to be. Faye was wearing that ring when she disappeared, but it was gone now. Taking a small sip of beer, Yoko sighed deeply.

Nam was chatting with everyone and saying something funny, then turned to ask Faye:

"Ask the main character, what's the best thing you've eaten in the past 3 months?"

It was just a simple question, and Faye smiled, answering very calmly:

"For the past three months, I've only eaten bread..." Faye chuckled: "Because I was afraid of being poisoned and forced, even eating toxic things, I didn't dare to eat anything at first. Until one day I was so hungry I fainted. When I woke up, I found I had been hypnotized and eaten something. I was so angry I threw up everything. After that..." Faye suddenly realized that her seemingly ordinary story had stunned everyone.

Faye had never told anyone the details of what she had endured during the past three months, not even Yoko. No one knew Faye's side of the story. And no one could bear to bring it up.

"...Ah, I've ruined everyone's mood." Faye smiled again.

"What happened next?" Nam asked cautiously.

Faye just gently shook her head, indicating she was fine: "After that, I thought that I couldn't die because I still had my family. So I only ate bread that was still in its original packaging... I guess I've eaten enough bread for a lifetime."

Everyone was silent. Three months of captivity could shatter anyone's psyche. But Faye still recounted it gently, enough to understand that it was much heavier than she let on, and how much Faye had tried to suppress it.

"But do you know the funniest thing? It wasn't until the very last day, almost fainting from blood loss, that they took me out of that cell door. Only then did I truly 'see' that door. And that door wasn't even locked." Faye gave a bitter laugh.

Hearing this, Yoko stood up, excused herself, and went into the room.

Faye didn't follow, understanding that Yoko also needed her own space.

Doctor Tan swirled her glass of wine: "Have you decided to see a psychologist yet?"

Faye shook her head; she was still contemplating. Truly, she was still haunted and wary of people who studied psychology. But Faye understood that within her seemingly normal psyche, there were invisible wounds. And Faye also knew that Danny's manipulation, psychological traps, suggestion... those tricks to control other people's minds still existed in her brain, potentially putting her in danger. Faye would arrange to get a specialized examination, but not at this moment.

"Did you tell Yoko everything that happened?" Knowing her friend who always kept everything inside too well, Nam couldn't help but ask.

In response, Faye shook her head.

"Did Yoko tell you what she went through?" Thien was confused by these two people. Both didn't want the other to be sad because of their own experiences.

Faye looked up at everyone, then sighed and shook her head again.

Doctor Tan couldn't bear it anymore: "Faye, Yoko was depressed... And I think now that you're back, both you and she have very serious issues that need to be addressed."

"Specifically, what?" Hearing this, Faye immediately became anxious.

But Tan just shook her head: "You two need to talk to each other."

Thien drained her glass of wine, looking at Faye: "Three days before you reappeared, Danny sought out Yoko..."

Faye unconsciously clenched her fists when she heard the woman's name, her gaze becoming much colder.

"What did she want?" Faye asked.

Thien recounted it briefly, but she also made it clear that there were things Danny had said that Yoko didn't want to reveal and kept to herself.

No one truly knew what Danny had said to Yoko.

Both Faye and Yoko were choosing to hide everything.
