CHAPTER 6
Author's Pov:
"Was our performance good?", Joshua asked Haeun for nth time. Haeun groaned amd nodded, "What will make you believe? That was really really really good".
Joshua sighed, "If we didn't win this then all our hard work will go in vain". Haeun gulped before saying, she felt bad for sounding so arrogant, "It will be good. I am sure everything will go good".
"Ahh, it feels weird talking to you in sweet tone", Haeun said, "Let's start studying without arguing". Joshua nodded, "Which subject we should start today? Let's start with history".
Haeun shook her head, "Nope. Yesterday we started with History, today we will start with Maths". Joshua shook his head, "History"
"Maths"
"History"
"Maths"
"History"
"Maths-"
"This is second day I am warning you guys. If you keep doing this, I'll ban you from here. I have that rights", the librarian again said.
Haeun and Joshua apologised to her. "Let's decided with rock paper scissors. If I win, let's do History and if you lose, we are not doing maths", Joshua said. Haeun stared at him, "What do you think my age is? 5?".
"Oh, you understood", Joshua said avoiding her gaze. Haeun closed her eyes, "If I win we are doing Maths and if you win we are doing History". Joshua nodded, "But we are doing it only once". Haeun agreed.
Both closed their eyes, extending their hands, "Rock paper scissors".
Haeun showed rock
Joshua showed scissors, which he turned to paper.
"You cheated", Haeun said. "I didn't my fingers just got stuck", Joshua said. Haeun glared at him, "That's not possible".
"Oh, it is possible", Joshua said. Haeun shook her head, "Let's do it one more time". Joshua shook his head, "We deicded to do it only once". Haeun sighed, "Fine, let's start with history".
Joshua smiled, "Let's start with history". He excitedly opened his book, "Let's start with this chapter, shall we?". Haeun nodded, "Fine".
"But tomorrow, I want maths first", Haeun requested. "Fine", Joshua smiled. Haeun shook her head taking out the phone, "I am recording it, just say one more time. I can't trust you this easily". Joshua looked at her disbelief, "Really?". Haeun nodded. She was serious.
Haeun started the recording, indicating him to speak. Joshua cleared his throat. Haeun stopped the recording, "I am not going to send it to someone, so you can speak in your normal voice".
"Fine", he rolled his eyes. "Don't roll your eyes, I might poke them. Now here you go", Haeun started the recording.
"I promise that tomorrow, we will start with Maths instead of History", Joshua said. "Say your name", Haeun mouthed. Joshua shook his head, "My name is Joshua Hong". Haeun smiled and stopped the recording, "Good boy".
"Now shall we start with History?", he asked. Haeun nodded. "Just like I told you, read everything and if you don't understand anything, I'll explain it to you".
"By the time I read it, try to solve this sum. You wrote all the formulas yesterday, right. See the formulas and try to solve it. I have already written some points here, read it and try to sovle. One more hint, you have to use Quadratic formula in it", Haeun explained him showing her maths book.
Joshua nodded, trying to understand, "I-I didn't understand". Haeun sighed, she took her pencil and wrote down some formula. "You see this formula? Solve it accordingly". Joshua nodded, "I'll try".
Haeun smiled patting his head, "Good". Joshua pushed her hand, "Don't touch my hair". Haeun smirked, "You did a wrong thing", she took both her hands and ruffled his hair. Joshua slapped her hands. Haeun slapped back.
"Stop it Haeun", Joshua held her hands pulling her closer. Her heart skipped a beat, their face just mere inches apart. She could feel the warmth of his breath against her skin, sending shivers down her spine. Her eyes locked with his, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still.
"You....You look", Haeun whispered. "I look?", Joshua whispered. "You look damn weird", Haeun said. Joshua's grip loosened on her wrist. "I look weird?". Haeun nodded. Joshua looked into the camera, "I don't think so. I look damm handsome".
Haeun scoffed, "I never said you look ugly, I just said that you look weird. This was the first time I ever seen you this close. It will obviously be weird".
"If it was someone else, they would have fallen for me seeing me this close, you just have a bad taste in men", Joshua said. Haeun rolled her eyes, "Oh please, Seungcheol is the best person you can have crush on".
"He is old. Seungcheol is old", Joshua said. "You know what Joshua. I am sorry", Haeun said. He frowned, "Why?".
She smiled innocently, "Just one click the recording of you saying 'He is old. Seungcheol is old' will be sent to him. See the proof". Joshua gasped, "Delete it". Haeun shook her head.
"Haeun, please", Joshua requested. She shook her head, "First say that my taste is men is damn good than your face".
Joshua immediately shook his head, "That's not gonna happen. Your taste in men sucks". Haeun smirked, "Fine then. I'll send it to Seungcheol".
"Go ahead, I'll tell him about your crush. Go ahead, should I press the send button?", he asked. Haeun gulped.
Trying not to show that his threat worked on her, she said, "I am sending him". Joshua gestured her to go ahead. "I am really sending it". Joshua smirked, "Send it, Haeun".
Haeun showed him her screen, "I am finally sending it then". She pressed the send button. "Yah, d-delete it, he will kill me if he hears it, please", Joshua said.
Haeun who was afraid of him revealing about hwr crush, quickly deleted the message. "I have deleted it but next time if you say my taste in men is bad then I am directly sending this to him".
"Shall we do some extra hours today? We didn't do anything yesterday, so...", her voice trailed off. Joshua nodded, "Fine but it won't be late for you right?". Haeun shook her head, "Nope, it is fine".
Haeun started reading the chapter. Joshua saw how she always frowns whenever she is reads something. "You want my help?", she asked still looking at book. "N-no", Joshua stuttered and started solving the problem.
Hours passed and it finally time for them to leave, the librarian glared at them, "I don't want to hear your fights from tomorrow. I also don't want to hear your small bickering. You both are good students. Keep it up". Haeun and Joshua smiled at her.
"Let's meet tomorrow", Haeun said. "Haeun, don't you think it feels weird to talk polite with each other?", Joshua asked.
"Isn't it? But remember we have promised eachother to behave like normal humans. Bye, I need to go now, the bus is here", Haeun said waving her hand. She ran and entered the bus just in time. Sitting beside the window, she waved at Joshua.
The bus left. Haeun took out her head phones listening to the songs. Soon she reached her house, she saw Soonyoung already waiting for her. "How was the today?", he asked. Haeun smiled, "We didn't fight much".
Soonyoung and Haeun went inside without knowing a pair of eyes watching them.
Soonyoung ruffled her hair, "How was our performance today?" Haeun groaned, "You know Joshua kept asking this question for every 10 minutes".
He laughed, "Now it's my turn to ask you the same question". Haeun pouted, "Please don't". Soonyoung nodded, "I will not".
Haeun went to her room and looked out of her window, "Today was good. I want tomorrow to be the best".
Meanwhile,
Joshua returned to his house. "Why were you so late?", his mother asked. "I was studying with Haeun", he said in an uninterested tone. His mother smiled caressing his head, "Good, just study like this". Joshua gave a small smile and nodded, "Where is Appa?".
"He will be late again", his mother replied. Joshua nodded. He was about to go in his room when his mother stopped him, "Haeun is a brilliant student, Shua. But don't take her just as your classmate. Treat her as your competitor, the one whom you are trying to beat. You are best in all the subjects except maths. If you beat her in maths, you will be the topper. I understand your love for music but it is not going to led you anywhere. Remember that. I haven't told your appa about your maths grade, next time get good marks".
"I know and I'll try", Joshua whispered looking down. He went his room, the first thing he saw was his guitar. His grandmother had gifted him. That is where his journey towards music started.
"I need to get good marks this time", he whispered. His mother entered his room, "I am going out. I have kept the dinner, maids are here too. If you need something tell them. Also, once you done eating get back to studying". Joshua nodded.
After his mother went, Joshua went down. He took his dinner and went back to his room. "I need to study". He continued to study while eating.
After few hours, his father peaked in, "Are you studying?". Joshua nodded, "Yeah, I am". His father smiled, "Good".
