Câu điều kiện loại 3 - 2:

If + S + had Vpp, S + would/could/should... +V.

ex: If I had not spent too much money on shopping, I would be rich.

Câu điều kiện But for:

Ý nghĩa: 

- Nếu không có gì đó, nếu không nhờ gì đó thì....  

- But for  dùng để thay thế cho If+ not  trong mệnh đề chứa If.

Cấu trúc: But for + N, S + would + have Vpp  =  Câu điều kiện 3.

Ex: If my mom hadn't helped me, I could not have achieved success like this.

<=> But for my mom's help, I could not have achieved success like this.

Lưu ý: Ta có thể thay But for  trong cấu trúc trên bằng Without.  Khi đó, Without  có thể dùng cho cả câu điều kiện loại 3 và loại 2.

Câu điều kiện Nếu không vì...:

- Điều kiện loại 2: If it wasn't for + N, S + would + V.

ex: If you did not help me, I would not make it.

---> If it was not for your help, I would not make it.

- Điều kiện loại 3: If it hadn't been for + N, S + would + have Vpp.

ex: If scientists had not invented the pecenlin, a lot of people would have died each year.

---> If it had not been for the pecelin invention, a lot of people would have died each year.

Câu điều kiện Should (not) have Vpp:

Diễn tả một việc nên làm trong quá khứ nhưng đã không làm.

ex: You should (not) have finished all the assignments.

Câu điều kiện Must have Vpp:

Diễn tả phỏng đoán rằng một việc chắc chắn đã xảy ra.

ex: Phuong Anh looks tired, she must have gone out with her friends late last night.

Lưu ý: Không có must not have Vpp.

Câu điều kiện Unless:

Unless có thể thay cho if not trong câu điều kiện. Ý nghĩa của unless và if not là không giống nhau.

Unless: Trừ khi.

If not: Nếu... không...

Ex: If you do not have a visa, you can not come to America.

---> Unless you have a visa, you can not come to America.

Câu điều kiện Otherwise:

- Otherwise  có nghĩa là nếu không... thì...; kẻo..

ex: If my sister and I  are not back before 10 o'clock, my dad will be angry.

---> We must be back before 10 o'clock; otherwise my dad will be angry.

ex: If her boyfriend didn't pay her tuition fee, she wouldn't be able to go to university.

---> Her boyfriend pays her tuition fee; otherwise she wouldn't be able to go to university.

ex: If hadn't used the dictionary application in my iPhone, it would have taken me a long time to look up for this word.

---> I used the dictionary application in my iPhone; otherwise it would have taken me a long time to look up for this word.

Lưu ý: 

- Otherwise  đứng sau dấu chấm phẩy (;)

- Otherwise  dùng để thay thế cho "If not"   trong mệnh đề phụ. Tuy nhiên nó lại đứng trước mệnh đề chính, khi đó mệnh đề phụ bỏ đi "if "  và  "not"  và lùi đi một thì.

- Nếu mệnh đề phụ chỉ có Verb  là "to be"  thì ta phải thêm vào trước nó auxV  mang nghĩa sao cho phù hợp với câu ở mệnh đề phụ đó.

Câu điều kiện Or else:

- Otherwise có thể được thay thế bằng or  hoặc or else.  

ex:

- My sister and I must be back before 10 o'clock or else my dad will be angry.  

- Her boyfriend pays her tuition fee or she wouldn't be able to go to university.

- I used the dictionary application in my iPhone or It would have taken me longer time to look up for this word.
