02 | THE TEAM

SAM EXITED THEblack van that Fury had sent her way. The brown-haired woman walked closer towards the end of the dock. As she was about to start boarding the helicarrier, her phone rang. She picked it up, recognizing her father's voice. "Please, tell you didn't sign Fury's contract?" Tony Stark told his daughter.

"Will you be mad if I did?" Sam asked him.

"Are you leveling your options?" Tony asked his daughter. Sam laughed, telling him the answer. "You know, I know you are a grown-up woman who can defend her own ground, but isn't a bad guy from another world a little bit out of your comfort zone? I mean, I think it is safe to stay on your comfort zone. No injuries, no worries." Tony added. "But on the other hand, how are you princess?" Tony asked his daughter.

"I'm good, and just so you know. You are running late. Better start planning an excuse." Sam told her father as she started making her way up the helicarrier. "It seems like my vacation was cut short. Fury came just this morning. SHIELD needs me. Barton had been taken by goldilocks' brother." Sam said, brushing the hair off her face. And by goldilocks I mean, Thor. I haven't seen him in a while. Met him a couple of times. He is nice." Sam said to her father.

"What? My fellow robin hood has been kinapped?" Tony asked his daughter. "How are you taking on the news? Do you need some ice cream? I wouldn't mind getting one on my way there." Tony said to his daughter. Sam laughed lightly, shaking her head.

"I will be okay." Sam mumbled under her breath, making her way to the uncovered roof of the hellicarrier. "I'm still haven't met some of the other people Fury mentioned." Sam said to her father.

"Well, that will be me that's for sure." Tony told his daughter. "And as your father I will recommend you to step out of it even though I know you will not. Your mom was furious at Coulson by putting your in this initiative even though it's not his fault." He explained.

You know, I'm quite excited to meet one in particular." Tony told her.

"Who would it be?" Sam asked him.

"Bruce Banner." Tony answered. Sam held back a small laugh, knowing very well the man that Tony had mentioned. A few years back Sam had met him, before he turned into a big green giant who was actually kind of sweet when you get to know him. It was also the same man that Logan held such resentment against since Fury had sent the mutant to stop Hulk. It ended up with Logan badly beaten and complaining about how Fury sent him to almost get killed.

"You will be both science bros, I presume." Sam said, laughing at his father's words.

"How will you know?" Tony asked her.

"I have a good feeling that you two will." Sam said, wearing a light smirk on her face.

Sam walked closer to the edge of what it seemed to be an aircraft carrier, looking down as the propene turned on, starting to move away from the dock. "You know who will be there too? The man that your grandpa always talked." Tony sighed.

"Who was it?" Sam asked him.

"A man dressed in bright red and blue spandex." Tony told her. Sam let out a small laugh. There was a brief silence, which signaled Sam a sourer conversation. "I don't approve of you getting caught into all this. You know, gods and the Avengers Initiative." He said to her.

"Weren't you asked to join a few years ago, but they said that you didn't play well with other?" Sam asked, smiling at the memory. Her mom and even herself teased him about it for months.

Sam felt a little bit of accomplishment when she heard her father-tired sigh. "Yeah, exactly. Should I try to convince you not to join? because I know that you would not listen to me and still do It." He told her. Tony sometimes doubted sometimes he parenting skills. Especially when it came to Sam's side job as a superhero. He sometimes asked himself if he should stop her from being a superhero. Pepper had also tried countless of times, but it was in vain. The young Stark loved what she did, and he could not stop her from doing it.

Sam took a few seconds, acting like she was thinking over it. "Yeah, no." Sam said.

It was time for Tony to sign. "Well, now I'm questioning my parenting skills." Tony said, playing with some tools on his desk as he designed a new suit for his daughter. He was telling her the total truth. He was doubting his parenting skills, now and in the past.

Sam signed, knowing the doubts that consumed her father from time to time. "Aww, dad. You parenting skills aren't bad. Look how I turned out." Sam said on the other line. Tony smiled, even though he knew that his daughter could not see it. "I love you dad," She said smiling. Tony sighed, looking at the picture of him and his daughter that was on his table. Sam quickly hung up the call before pulling her sweater closer to her.

She took a few steps back from the borders, looking around the boarding platform. When she was close to the entrance, she looked up to see a man approaching her. She smiled recognizing him.

"You are looking good, Coulson." Sam commented, waving at the man.

"Thank you. This is a new suit." Phil said coming closer to her. "I'm glad you could join. I know you were in vacation." Phil added, motioning her to follow him.

Sam smiled. "I wouldn't miss a good chance to visit my favorite agent." Sam joked. "So what is going on with that man who stole the Tesseract? Fury did not give me much details about him." Sam told the agent who had known her for a few years now.

"He is Thor's brother. His name is Loki." Phil told her as he walked down the halls with Sam by his side. "I presume you were informed about Barton? I'm sorry." Phil added.

"We will get him back." Sam told him.

Sam walked up the bridge with Coulson by her side. She smiled at the view. Hill walked up to her, handing her some files. "Wow, I'm not even 20 minutes in here and I'm already being handled things." The youngest Stark mumbled.

"At least you like being handled things, unlike your dad." Coulson pointed out. Sam smiled at him, and then at Hill.

"What are these for?" Sam asked Hill. The raven-haired woman gave her a look. "I really don't have any idea what they are for?" Sam asked again.

Mari Hill sighed. The former agent turned her attention from Sam for a few minutes until to order some other agents. When she turned back to Stark's daughter, she pointed to a symbol in front of the file. A big A was in the middle of the file. "These are the people you were going to work along with. Fury gave you a file similar to this. Actually, the most updated version. I just presumed you might want to read before meeting them" She said to her. "Welcome to the Avengers, Samantha Stark." She said, giving her a proud smile.

Sam opened the files. "I know that I will be working with my dad, he informed me about it." Sam said to her.

"Stark does not have any secrecy?" Fury asked her, walking towards them.

Sam shrugged at him. "No when it comes to family business, and since I'm inside this group it is considered family business." Sam explained, looking at the file. "Oh, look it is goldilocks. Our dear friend Thor. Is Natasha joining us, too right? This is going to be great." She said, smiling at the two agents.

Fury coughed, catching the woman's attention. However, it was not Fury who had spoken. It was a red-haired woman who Sam knew all too well. "Agent Stark, you are going to join me to welcome Banner." Sam put the files down and turned to look at Natasha. The brunette stood up quickly to bring Natasha to a tight hug.

The brief hug ended, allowing Sam to greet her dear friend. "Nice to see you too, Nat." She said, smiling at her. Natasha rolled her eyes at her before starting to make her way towards the top of the hellicarrier. "Has anybody got some information about Clint?" Sam asked, walking next to the short red head.

The assassin said as she walked quickly through the halls. "Not since he got taken." Natasha said to her. When both women reached the top of the vehicle, Natasha was the first one to open the door. Sam flinched at the sudden change of light. "How much do you want to bet that Coulson will ask Steve to sign his trading cards?" Natasha asked her.

"Steve? The one who he always talked about." Sam said remembering a brief discussion she had with Phil who had mentioned the man that Natasha was talking about. Then it clicked what her father had said 'the man who your grandfather always talked about'. "Of course, Captain America. Right." Sam said to herself.

Sam held back a laugh as she repeated Natasha's words in her head while imagining Phil Coulson acting super excited alongside his favorite hero. "A lot, but I already know he will. I'm thinking of embarrassing him a little." Sam said, lacing arms with Natasha.

The two female heroes walked to a quinjet which had just landed. Sam took her arm away from Natasha, allowing her to be the first one to enter. The former assassin walked up to a tall strong blonde who was picking up his duffel bag from the floor. "Welcome to SHIELD, Captain Rogers." Natasha told him.

Sam looked at him with curiosity. "Aye, aye Captain." Sam joked, smiling up at him. "I'm Sam Stark, former team mate of yours." She said as she walked up to him, putting her hand out for him to shake.

The blonde looked at the source of the words, his smile flattering a little. "It is nice to meet the man who my grandfather always used to talk about." Sam told him. The former soldier shook her hand with confidence. "I heard you knew my grandfather, Howard Stark." Sam added.

Steve looked down, obtaining a small smile. "Grandpa?" He asked, looking up at Sam. Sam nodded at him.

"Samantha Valentine Stark aka Fallen Angel." Sam said to him. "I'm Tony Stark's daughter. Howard's grand-daughter." Sam said, smiling shyly at the Captain. "He spoke highly of you." She added.

"Steve Rogers, ma'am." Steve presenting himself.

Sam felt her cheeks redden at the word ma'am. It will be a lie if she said that those words made her feel her nice inside "You sure are polite in comparison with other men from this time. You can call me Sam." She said to him. Natasha gave a knowing smirk to Sam.

The assassin approached Sam. "Don't worry. I wouldn't tell Tony." She whispered for only her to hear. The brunette blushed drastically even more so than what she already had.

However, a voice broke the meeting with the Captain. "Sam, long time not see." Bruce Banner said from behind her, fiddling with his own hands.

Sam turned to face him with a warm smile. One that Bruce enjoyed a lot since it made him feel a little bit more human and less alone. Sam approached him quickly before pulling him into a tight hug. "It's good to see you Bruce." Sam said before pulling away. She turned to the other member of the new team. "Guys, this is my friend Bruce Banner." Sam said, presenting her friend with pure pride.

Sam watched as both men walked away from the aircraft and towards the edge of the hellicarrier.

"A submarine?" Steve asked, looking at the engine of the hellicarrier.

"They want to put me in a pressurized container." Bruce mumbled to himself, but Sam had heard it.

The brunette walked up to him. "You know, I'm not going to let them take you. Right?" Sam whispered to Bruce. Bruce gave her a quiet smile in return.

"No, it's not a submarine." Sam told them. She shared a look with Natasha. "And you might want to step inside if you want to breath." She mumbled, hearing a curious look from the two.

Realization crossed Bruce's mind. "Oh, no this is worse." He mumbled. Sam put a supporting hand on Bruce's shoulder knowing that the former scientist was freaking out.

Sam led them inside the hellicarrier, and into the bridge. As she took a seat at a table nearby, she saw how Steve handed ten bucks to Fury while admiring the technology in the room. She smiled at Steve's amazed look. Coulson approached her quietly, taking a seat next to her.

The former agent leant towards Sam "Have you asked him to sign my training cards?" Sam asked him with a smile on her lips.

Phil smiled back. "Oh, I was planning on it." He said, smiling at her.

"Oh I bet." Sam said, laughing lightly. Although it was cut short by an agent catching their attention.

"We got a hint." An agent said from the front of the bridge. "Stuttgart, Germany." He added.

Sam looked at Coulson with a knowing look. "Got to suit up, Coulson. I'm going to put some sense into Thor's brother." She said, walking out of the bridge. "Show time." She mumbled to herself.
