author's pov

taehyung ran from his college all the way to the subway and as if fate willed it to be, jimin was right there, on his way home from work. it was a saturday evening. taehyung took extra writing classes every saturday to improve himself while jimin worked at the stonewall library. jimin rarely took the subway since he preferred driving himself, so this surprised taehyung. 

"are you okay?" asked jimin once he saw taehyung, crying as he sat and waited for the train to come. taehyung looked up at him for a split second and went back to crying even harder this time around. jimin sighed and sat right next to the sobbing taehyung and pulled him close to his chest as he patted him on the back to comfort him.

"i must be going insane," taehyung managed to let out in between his sobs. "i'm going insane, aren't i? i mean, how...how could park jimin be right here with me and comforting me?"

"you make it sound like i don't exist." jimin pulled his own arms away to lift taehyung's chin up and make him look him straight in the eye. "you make it sound like i don't care."

"because you never did."

this sent a pang right into jimin's chest. taehyung moved jimin's hand away and by then, he had stopped crying. he wiped his own tears away and stared right at the floor. 

"i never did?"

"i'm sorry," taehyung immediately said. "i take that back. i'm the one who fucked up. i shouldn't be blaming you."

"you may have been the one who did it, but if i had shown you i cared more, then maybe you wouldn't have done it."

"you can't blame yourself for me choosing to sleep with someone else."

silence came after that. the two of them sitting right next to each other, still loving one another, but knowing fully well they were too broken to be fixed. 

so when the train finally came, jimin went in and taehyung stayed. 

and nothing else was ever said.
