Recollection
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the landscape, Kosu and his team finally arrived at the rendezvous point. The clearing was a welcome sight, dotted with tents and a small supply cache, all set up by Sakura's team in anticipation of their return.
They quickly set about gathering supplies: new weapons, healing potions, and provisions to help them recover from their ordeal. The atmosphere was filled with a mix of relief and camaraderie as they worked together, sharing smiles and laughter that felt like a balm for their recent wounds.
Once the supplies were gathered, they settled around a small fire, the flickering flames casting dancing shadows against the trees. The cool night air enveloped them, and the sounds of nature filled the silence. Kosu took a moment to appreciate the tranquility—a stark contrast to the chaos they had just escaped.
The night at the rendezvous point was filled with the soft crackle of the fire and the scent of freshly prepared rations. As the team gathered around, Kosu looked at his companions and felt a surge of camaraderie. They had faced tremendous challenges, and now it was time to share their stories.
As they sat together, Kosu sensed an opportunity to reflect on their mission thus far. "Let's recap what we've all been through," Kosu suggested, glancing at Thorn, who had settled in with them. "We've had quite the journey."
Thorn nodded, eager to hear more. "I'd love to hear how you fared."
Kosu began, "We started from the north portal and moved through the dense forest. Right away, we encountered countless ambushes from goblins. They came at us from all directions, but we managed to fend them off."
Elara interjected, "And we found their nest! It was crawling with goblins, but we also discovered something bizarre—a machine that birthed goblins at an unimaginable speed."
Kara added, "It was a real threat. We worked together to turn that machine off, which dealt a heavy blow to the nest. It felt good to take out something so dangerous."
Thorn raised his eyebrows, impressed. "That's quite an achievement. I wish I could've seen it."
As they shared their excitement, Elara's tone shifted. "But we also had some issues during the fight. Thrain, your decision to attack the machine without a plan made things worse."
Kara nodded in agreement. "We could have coordinated better. Your short temper almost cost us."
Thrain, who had been listening quietly, sighed. "I admit it. I acted on impulse. I thought we could take it out quickly, but I should have waited for the right moment."
Kosu placed a hand on Thrain's shoulder. "We all make mistakes. What matters is that we learned from it."
Continuing, Kosu recounted the next part of their adventure. "The following day, when we returned to the nest, we found it completely deserted. Not a single goblin remained. We pressed on through the ruins and eventually found you, Thorn."
Thorn's expression shifted, surprise apparent on his face. "I can't believe you all managed to take down that nest. That's impressive."
"Your turn," Kara prompted. "What did you face on your side?"
Thorn took a deep breath. "I started from the south portal and was sent into the middle of a desert. It was harsh out there, and not only goblins were lurking around. We encountered high goblins and other monsters, but the real danger was a giant centipede that made its nest in the sand."
The team leaned in, intrigued by Thorn's story. "What happened?" Kosu asked.
"When we fought that centipede, we ended up in an underground tunnel it had created. It was a gamble, but we managed to ambush and kill it," Thorn explained, pride evident in his voice.
"Sounds like you had a tough fight," Elara remarked.
"Yeah, but then things got complicated," Thorn continued. "I caught a glimpse of Ken in the tunnels and decided to follow him. My team got tangled in numerous traps down there and eventually found themselves surrounded by monsters."
Kosu's heart sank. "What did you do?"
"I became a decoy," Thorn said, his voice steady but somber. "I told my team to escape while I drew the monsters away. They managed to get back to the surface and call for help, but my communicator got destroyed during the chaos, so I couldn't call for backup."
"That's brave of you," Kara said, admiration in her eyes. "But what happened next?"
"I followed Ken's trail and eventually found myself inside the ruins," Thorn continued. "I had to fight the dungeon boss all by myself—a goblin king. As a ranger, it was one of the toughest battles I've ever faced, but I won. The boss was defeated and dissolved into magicule."
Kosu felt a mix of admiration and concern. "That's incredible, Thorn. But you must have been hurt."
"I was," Thorn admitted, his expression growing serious. "I ended up injured and unconscious. Thankfully, you all showed up and saved me."
Kosu felt a swell of pride for his team and for Thorn's bravery. "We're glad we found you. We wouldn't have left you behind."
As the fire crackled softly, the team's discussions shifted from their adventures to the clues they had uncovered during their missions. Kosu leaned in, his expression serious. "Let's talk about what we found—the machine that breeds goblins. It's not something that the goblins could have created on their own."
Elara nodded, her brow furrowed in thought. "Exactly. That machine was bizarre, almost like it was designed for a specific purpose. Someone must have built it to amplify their forces. Whoever it is, they're manipulating the goblins."
Kara crossed her arms, contemplating the implications. "This changes everything. If we're dealing with someone behind the scenes, we need to find out who they are and what their goals are. The goblins were just pawns in a larger game."
Thrain added, "Could it be Ken? He's clearly connected to the goblins."
Thorn shake his head, "I don't think Ken's on the goblin side, there's evidence that he even "ate" them."
Kosu felt a chill run down his spine at the thought. "Yes, he certainly ate the goblin. But what could be the reason for that action? We all knew that monsters made from magicule are poison for the body."
Elara leaned forward, her eyes narrowing. "Could it be because he got transform into werewolf? That monstrous form certainly related to dungeon core's power. And monsters inside dungeon were made from the same power."
Kosu nodded his head, agree "Yes, that's may be the reason. And we also need to consider the figure that stopped Ken. Who was he? How was he able to match Ken's monstrous power? That's not something anyone can do lightly."
Kara shook her head, frustration creeping in. "We have too many questions and not enough answers. Whoever he is, he clearly has strength and skills that could rival Ken. We need to understand his motive, too—was he there to protect the dungeon, or was he after something else?"
Thorn sighed, running a hand through his hair. "If he's an ally, we might need his help in the future. But if he's not, then we could be facing another enemy. We can't let our guard down."
Kosu nodded, the weight of their situation heavy on his shoulders. "Everything feels interconnected. The machine, Ken, that mysterious figure—it all leads back to a larger scheme. We need to gather more information before we can make a move."
Elara spoke up, her voice steady. "We should investigate the machine further. If we can find clues about its origin or its creator, it could give us insight into who we're dealing with."
"And we need to look into Ken's background as well," Kosu added. "Sakura mentioned she would research his profile. We should follow up on that and see if there are any leads."
Kara glanced at the stars, contemplating the road ahead. "It's going to take time, but we can't rush. We need to prepare for whatever comes next."
As the conversation flowed, they shared stories and theories, each voice adding to the tapestry of their mission. They discussed possible strategies, how to strengthen their skills, and what resources they would need moving forward.
Eventually, the fire crackled softly, and the stars began to twinkle overhead. The night deepened, and a comfortable silence fell over them as they sat together, united in their purpose.
Elara broke the silence with a gentle smile. "No matter what happens next, I'm grateful for each of you. We've faced darkness together, and that bond makes us stronger."
Kosu felt a warmth spread through him at her words. "We'll face whatever comes next as a team," he affirmed. "And we'll do it together."
With their minds focused and their determination renewed, the team spent the rest of the evening discussing strategies and potential next steps. Each member felt the weight of the mysteries they faced, but they also felt a sense of unity. Together, they would unravel the threads of this dark plot, determined to protect their world from the encroaching shadows.
