~Mini Rant~

Ok guys, this isn't a story, but just a thing. For my LOTR fans, everyone's seen Legolas' name written "Legolas Greenleaf", which is all well and good, but the problem comes when you start to regard that as his last name.

It is not

He has no last name

In fact, I don't think elves or dwarves for that matter even have last names.

'Greenleaf' is a title of sorts, like Thorin's 'Oakenshield'. Greenleaf is Legolas' name translated literally from the elvish dialect. So no, his sister's name is not 'Allya Greenleaf', his son's is not 'Litius Greenleaf' and his twin is not "Laolus Greenleaf'

If anything they would say 'Legolas Thranduilion', meaning Son of Thranduil.

So please don't use Greenleaf as his last name, it is a title or nickname and unique to HIM because that is 'Legolas' translated literally, so please, please, don't use this in stories, or roleplays.

It ticks me off every time, so if you have been ignorant, be ignorant no longer and go forth with this new information! ;D
