Eriola Idowu

When you hear "younger sibling" know that it means trouble. This girl had been looking as if she did not know anything ooo, now she want to put us in trouble.

"Is it not because Bro Tayo......"

"It's just a small fight. Would it not be weird if we never had fights?" I said quickly shutting Iniola up.

"It's normal for kids to fight, just leave them be". My dad told her and hit Iniola lightly on the back of her head.

"Ahhh!" Iniola shouted.

"Your amebo is too much, must you say everything you see?" My dad asked her and she just stayed quiet eating her food.

We were now in the room about to sleep, Iniola and Inioluwa occupied most of the bed already. I hissed at Inioluwa who I knew was deceiving herself if she thought she would be sleeping on my bed.

She could as well go to her "bf". Right, she can't try that under this roof. How funny!

I tapped her repeatedly until she woke up because I waited back to help mummy Tayo clean up in the kitchen and both of them slept off already before I entered the room.

"Who is that?" Inioluwa asked.

"Go and sleep on the floor, this place cannot contain us or spread cloth". I usually wasn't this cruel but she deserved it. It was me finally getting a payback worthy of my ten strokes of cane and the unwanted attention she made me go through in school.

"But...."

"Stand up!" I told her firmly not letting her finish whatever she wanted to say.

Slowly getting out of the bed, she picked the wrapper mummy Tayo gave her and spread it on the floor. I pitied her sha and gave her our second duvet so I won't seem so wicked.

It was break time, I ate my lunch of spaghetti and egg in peace, no hateful eyes staring at me from one corner of the room or any fool spreading false rumors about me.

I enjoyed the peace since Ini stayed back, of course she left home in singlet and short, she couldn't have gone to school and there was no way I would borrow her my uniform, that's if it will size her sef.

Dayo entered our class and sat next to me, I wondered what was with these seniors coming to our class anyhow these days.

"Eri Eri, how are you na". Dayo said greeting me in a very friendly manner.

"I'm fine jare". I replied him with smiles.

"Enjoyment, where is my own food?" He teased me making me laugh, as if he would even eat it if I gave him.

"Bring your fork then". I replied him.

"No I want yours". He answered, we joked for a while even making me choke on my food twice. I was beginning to get those hateful eyes now, I just don't know the problem with my classmates.

"We have a beach hangout on Saturday ooo, are you coming?" He asked me.

I didn't hear about any hangout besides mummy Tayo would not even let me go. Exams are fast approaching and I can't fall back, my siblings are in this school due to my grades, I can't make any mistake.

"No ooo, I did not hear anything plus mummy Tayo will not agree". I replied him.

"But Tayo, Jonas and Benson are all coming na". He told me.

My head sparked the moment I heard Benson's name, so he was coming too. How come he never mentioned it? Maybe he didn't want me to come.

Since they were all going sha, mummy Tayo should allow me and if she doesn't I would ask my daddy.

"Sure, I will come". I replied him.

Saturday was tomorrow sef, I needed to get beach clothes and enjoy my life for the day. Maybe mummy Tayo would give me money to buy it, or I can just wear bum short and fine top and wear bucket hat sef. I'm ready to go.

The school bell rang courtesy of our accurate time keeper who couldn't even give us as little as a minute to enjoy our break.

As if he had been waiting, Mr. Thompson entered the class and after the whole greetings, he just started writing in the board.

His mood seemed off, we just copied notes and he left. No talks, nothing.

"I heard gists from Chidinma that the principal questioned him for beating Eri that day". One girl said but I managed to hear. I was shocked by the weird rumor they were spreading again.

Even without Ini, there were still people to find a way to put my name into things just because they don't like me. One thing I didn't understand was why anyone in their right mind would hate me.

"I wonder what she must be feeling like, special treatment". Another girl said.

"Super star Eri, ontop straight A's" another said. It was starting to annoy me. What was all these crap.

"Straight A's no be beans, do am if e easy! (Straight A's is no joke, if it's that easy, do it)". I told them with attitude. Shebi they think they are mad ni.

"Pele ooo, Eri elewa sapon(An insult)". It was Biobaku this time. The stupid girl that keeps failing every year.

She couldn't even pass ordinary civic education and she is here badmouthing me. I remembered last term she was begging me to teach her maths so that she will not fail before they make her repeat again.

"That's why you are 19 years old in SS1, aunty Biobaku". I shot back at her.

Savage lives here, I run savagery, so she shouldn't even bother.

"Is it me this small girl is talking to?" She said angrily like she wanted to beat me.

"No ooo, your twin sister.... oh sorry, if you had a twin sef, she should be in university by now except she also find straight A's as easy as you do! Oh, that was sarcasm, just want to make sure you got it". I told her with a naughty smile on my face while feeling great because I won.

"Uhm... do you even know what sarcasm mean? Might be too big a word". I added.

Before I knew what was going on a slap landed on my face from Biobaku. Is this girl mad ni? Inside school.

"Ah, see you playing with expulsion oooo. School have tire you abi?" I asked her and went out of the class ready to report to the principal.

All these people would see what would happen to them today, shebi it is me they want to be walking all over anyhow. Me, Eriola Idowu, when I'm not a bastard.

"She did what? Let's go to your class". The principal told me, following behind me.

The class was very quiet when we entered, everyone acted like nothing happened in here a while ago.

"Where is Biobaku?" She asked and Biobaku got up from her seat to show herself.

"Look at Eri's face, did you do this?" She asked Biobaku who looked at the palm print on my face like she did not understand.

"Why would I slap her, Eri of all people when I don't want trouble. Me I did not touch her oo". She said denying it with her full chest.

She looked so real that I would believe her if not that it was me she slapped. This girl have mind to lie to the principal.

"Who saw this happen?" The principal asked and nobody responded.

"Are you saying no one saw Biobaku slap Eri?" She asked.

"Eri had not even been in this class since after English. She left immediately so nothing happened in here". Grace, one of the most gentle girl in the class lies.

I felt stupid. This thing happened here, they all saw it.

"Timothy, you were here. You even laughed when I called her aunty Biobaku". I said trying to convince him to tell the principal what happened but he just looked away.

"You guys were all here". I said with tears running down my eyes. Was this how much they all hated me? Was it that bad to be a straight A's student?

I picked my bag and ran out of the class in tears heading home. That was it, I didn't care what happened after, I just wanted to be out of the GOD forsaken school.
