"Are you sure about this View? Like 100% sure?"
"Or 1000%, sure?"
"You know if you choose this life, you will have to commit to it P'View."
View stared at her second family, then at her work application on the computer.
-----
The PPG+1 aka View's second family includes Love Pattranite, Tu Tontawan, and Prim Chanikarn.
They got it all, looks, talents, and success. It's not hard to understand why View easily falls into their circle.
Love is considered the "mother" of the gang because she always looks at them with a motherly smile, being proud of what they achieve. And sometimes, her mama bear mode comes out to protect them.
She's also the first person View met at a small business meeting. Within a short amount of time, View quickly warm-up to her and even brought her girlfriend now turned ex for approval.
Later on, Love dragged View to meet Tu and Prim. Her first impressions of them are cold on the outside, a little bit intimidating, but after some chatting, View could never feel more comfortable.
Tu's a dentist and Prim is a famous actress. Not to brag, but while it was hard to schedule a date with Prim because her job had her traveling all the time.
Tu's job has fixed working hours, so she can go out with ViewLove more often.
At that time, when Tu was busy settling into her working environment and Prim's filming schedule.
The two don't get a chance to meet View's girlfriend properly, even how badly they want to after hearing View brag about her every day and Love praises.
TuPrim has quite a few times see her and said quick hellos to her when the gang video calls, but that's it.
Then suddenly, View announces that she's back to being single, without further into why they break up. The trio tried to get her to let it out, but View couldn't bring herself to and shut them out instead.
At one point, they just stop asking and start helping View get back on her feet, refraining from mentioning her name or the big question of why.
Months passed. They thought when View knew the girl was leaving to study abroad, she would get better.
She did get better some days, while others only wanted to be alone, crying her heart out.
------
To answer the trio questions.
"Yes, yes, and I'm not signing marriage papers, Prim."
Love, Tu, Prim have rushed to View's house after hearing her having a crisis on the phone. Also, they're here to stop View from making any poor decisions.
"I'm just saying cause this sudden interest is a little reckless and unlike you P'." Prim have a good point.
TuLove, of course, will support whatever View chooses even though they also think it's unlike her.
View sighs.
"It's just applying for a job to make my own money. So it's not a sudden interest."
She has explained to them on the phone before, didn't convince them one bit.
"I think what Prim was trying to say is not about your interest in working for a well-known company, but rather who's the CEO of it."
Tu says and receives a hard nod from Prim.
"Hmm, when you put it like that, it didn't add up at all View." Love is fixated on the company's name.
"I have no idea what you guys are talking about." She denies it.
"I just really think this is a good opportunity and a great environment for me to grow."
....
"Are you that in need of money, View?"
"If you're in a tough place. We can help you."
View pouted at them while also feeling super appreciative of them.
"Thank you a lot P', but no, I do not need money."
"Well, you did just say you want to make your money P'View, like your family didn't already own a small business." Prim crossed her arms and leaned back into her seat.
View took a trip to her kitchen and came back with a chocolate chip cookie. She handed it to Prim.
"Homemade dessert will lift up your mood, baby Prim."
Prim rolls her eyes at View's words before taking the cookie.
"Okay, my family business is one of the reasons why I think I can learn a lot more in this company."
"But why choose to apply to this company? Why don't you apply to mine?"
Love asks, because as a CEO herself, and single-handedly built her own company. View bruises her ego a bit there.
"Because I already know you will hire me P'Love."
"Of course." Love did not see any problem.
"I don't want it to be easy and favoritism."
....
"I can be mean to you if you want?"
The other two laugh.
"Your company is not even hiring." View mutter.
Love and Tu wait for Prim, but she's busy munching on cookies.
"You know us View, we will support whatever you do and your decision even if it's not the best."
"Yes, and if you are sure about this without any doubt, then we totally support you."
"Aww, thank you guys." View went around hugging each of them.
The trio obviously will keep their word, while there's an open space in their minds questioning if View wants to be employed in that company for a different intention.
After all, it's not common for anybody to want to work in their ex's company.
"Have you been in touch with Bonnie lately, View?"
The gang is pretty close with Bonnie as well because she used to work for Love, a patient at Tu hospital, a fan of Prim, and weirdly, she's also bestie with View's ex.
"You can ask her about this."
"I did."
"Oh, did she mention something? Or someone?"
View shakes her head no.
The trio sees her tense up while putting on sad puppy eyes whenever they ask about "her."
"While we're here, maybe we should talk about that too." Tu suggested that because of their schedule, it might be hard to meet up like this again.
"What? No P', it's fine."
"P'View, we all know she's abroad studying right now, but she will be back someday." Prim joins, her words put more weight on View.
She grimaces like the girl is already here.
"I don't want to talk about that now."
"That's the conversation in the future when it happens. I might not even work there anymore."
"Well, you might want to reconsider it P', when all of your emotional support systems are here."
Love nods.
"I agree with Prim on this. You always act uneasy whenever anyone mentions M.."
"Stop P'Love."
"See!." Love groans, waving her hand.
PrimTu are not surprised. They have gotten used to this.
"O... okay, I may be a little sensitive when it comes to her.." View mumbles.
The trio each let out a laugh.
"Wow, a little hm?"
"A little is almost like sugarcoating it."
"The image of P'View crying while hugging her pillow is still imprinted in my head like it's yesterday."
"Now, this feels like straight-up bullying. And what's the matter with me showing my emotions? I can't cry going through a breakup?"
Love along with Tu scoffed.
"No, but it would be a problem when the situation just happened last week."
"And how long have you guys been broken up for? Four months?"
"It was three P'Tu." View shamelessly corrected Tu.
"Oh, my mistake."
"Look, I understand your concern, and while I am super moved. I will be fine."
"I have Bonnie updated on me when she's gonna be back and then quit my job."
"Sure, whatever you said View, your choice so your plan."
There's nothing the trio can say to sway her anyway. They didn't even get to know why the two broke up in the first place.
View is determined, and after speaking with her parents, she finds them fully supportive. They're even holding her 'boss' position at the bakery in the meantime.
Call View corny, but she also has run the idea by her ex's family. And since they treated View like a part of their family, it's an easy pass, only if she accepts and treats the job seriously without any special treatment.
Sometimes, Bonnie still favors her more than everyone else though. Helping her through the company process, and how things work.
The younger girl is especially excited when View joins the company. They had already gotten along well before and remained close friends despite everything that happened.
Her ex's parents is confused cause when they're still dating, their sweet daughter has sworn on oath that she would never leave View's side, even if she went to study abroad, nothing could separate them. She would force View into the suitcase if she needed to.
Until one day, out of nowhere, she went home and immediately crashed into her parents' arms, telling them that they were no longer together without any further explanation.
------ 5 years later.
View plan is burning behind the back of her head.
Five years of spending at Mimetta Cooperations has taught View a lot, the knowledge was endless, and as View predicted, this place helped her mature and grow into the best version of herself.
She's now the director of her department in charge of marketing, having her own team to lead towards more achievements in the future.
In conclusion, she loves what she's building here, not only the company itself but also the people in it. So there's no way she's going to leave them behind and resign.
View is thankful for Bonnie, who has been there for her from day one, always cheering her up when she's down. Most importantly, Bonnie has consistently kept her updated on her ex over the past few years.
Today, while sitting in her office View received a text message from Bonnie that read.
'I'm bringing not-so-good news to you P'View, she's back, and I'm on my way to pick her up.'
View knew this day would come eventually, just reading the text got her palms all sweaty.
'Will you guys come to the company?' She typed out in panic, View's ready to gather her stuff and runs back to her house.
'....' She stared at her phone anxiously.
'No, P'. She will go home and rest.'
View let out a breath she was holding, melting down onto her chair.
'But I'm pretty sure she will want to settle into the company soon, though.'
View sighs, without needing Bonnie to mention it, View knows her ex, how brilliant, and quick-witted she is. She will fly in and claim her CEO seat probably within a week or two.
View types out a new message and hits send, she hopes the younger girl doesn't forget about their deals with each other.
'Can I work from home for a week?'
This is View's pleading to Bonnie, even though she's a little embarrassed but there's no way in hell she can keep calm in front of her ex after five years.
She instantly gets a call from Bonnie.
"P'View, are you serious?"
"You know I can't face her."
View hears Bonnie's sign and probably shakes her head on the other lines.
"It's been five years P', you will have to face her eventually. So why not now? It's better to face her sooner than later."
View gaze at the ceiling as Bonnie's voice goes in one ear and out the other.
She blinked, and five years passed. Great things had happened in those years.
For the first few years, View was practically married to her job. She poured all her focus and dedication into her work, so much so that, at one point, she was the busiest one in their gang. The trio was surprised when she turned down their offer to hang out, becoming a true workaholic.
View feels a weight lift from her shoulders each time Bonnie sits with her to discuss the new company's benefits. Honestly, her greatest achievement might be earning compliments and recognition from her ex's parents, especially Mr Rattanawadee, who is particularly pleased with her contributions to the company's growth.
A lot can be changed in five years, not to say a person. View couldn't imagine how five years changed her ex or if she had changed at all, she didn't know which one scared her more.
"Hellooo? P'View, are you still there?"
View snaps out from her daydreaming.
"Yeah, what were you saying?"
"..... You were thinking about her weren't you."
Bonnie knows her too well.
"Just a little memory rewind." View answer like it's nothing while shoving "her" images to the back of her head.
"Hmm, happy memory I hope?"
View stay silent.
In the past years, Bonnie had tried many times to get at least something on why they broke up, unfortunately, View's too careful and never slipped up.
"Look P'View, I understand you're not ready to see her. But she's also my best friend, I can't lie to her."
View disagreed.
"It's not lying Bonnie, you're just not telling her everything and there's no wrong in doing that."
"Besides we have a deal."
The other lines were silent before Bonnie's strong voice spoke.
"I know and I will keep my word."
....
"Did she... did she ask about me?" View shouldn't have asked that question and she shouldn't want to know the answer.
"Yes."
"The time after you guys broke up she asked me from time to time about you, mostly about if I see you around or still keep in contact with you. You know daily stuff."
"She makes it like she's asking about me but rather wanting to hear about you."
"Later on the questions lessened and then she stopped." Bonnie felt guilty for snitching on her friend but the older girl should hear it to move on if she hasn't already.
View's tears welled up behind her eyes before slowly hot salty tears fell down her cheeks. Nearly five years since she last shed a tear for her, and now she's crying in her ex's company. The first time she ever cried at work.
After collecting herself, View asks.
"So a week working from home, yes or no Bonnie?"
"Yes, but what am I supposed to tell her? You're not just some employee."
"Tell her I've caught a disease or something."
"Hmm, okay P', can I also tell her you have to stay home to take care of your pregnant wife?"
View chuckles.
"Maybe not. It would be fine if I'm the one pregnant, though." She heard the younger girl laugh.
"Yeah, yeah. I need to hang up. We're close to the airport. Talk to you later P'View."
"Okay, bye Bonnie."
View announced the news to her team without having to explain much because they did not know anything about their leader's dating life. She likes it that way and wants to keep it that way.
Everyone at the company except for View, who already went home is excited about the news and eager to meet their new CEO.
To be continued...
