Just as Eve's hand almost comes in contact with Mim's, a hand grabs hers.
"I'm about to have a lecture on personal space. Should I sign your name in?" Bonnie speaks sternly.
Eve didn't pull her eyes away from Mim when she answered.
"I think I've earned the privilege of Mim's personal space long ago."
Bonnie in her low, threatening voice said.
"Just because you two slept together doesn't mean you can be handsy whenever you want to."
Eve eventually turned to Bonnie.
"Let me guess, you're Bonnie." Not a single hint of doubt in her voice. She's confident in her correct answer.
Bonnie stopped for a second, first because of Eve's striking blue eyes, and second, because she didn't think Mim would talk about her to Eve.
"I would've shaken your hand if it weren't occupied." She gestured to her wrist in Bonnie's grip.
Bonnie cleared her throat, letting go of Eve's soft wrist.
Mim's ex fling straightened up before holding her hand out and introducing herself in a standard manner.
"Eve Langton, nice to meet you."
"Bonnie Pattraphus, can't really say the same."
Eve let out an airy laugh, not at all offended.
"None taken."
"Bon~" Mim leans onto the table, gathering both of their attention immediately.
"Why are you saying my name?"
"Don't want you to be hostile, that's all." Mim giggles.
Bonnie huff, in despair.
"Hostile? Why don't you tell her off, too?"
"Because I'm special, you know." Eve wiggles her eyebrows teasingly.
Bonnie fake a smile, feeling the champagne starting to flow upward inside her stomach.
"Let me do a quick reminder for you Miss Langton."
"Me! Bonnie IS currently and forever Mim's best friend. While you... You're just someone from the past.. like an ex perhaps?"
Mim's about to stop Bonnie again when Eve speaks up, confident and composed.
"You don't need to "remind" me of the first part Bonnie, I'm not here to be Mim's best friend. I do not aim for that position." She stops.
The two girls listen closely because Eve's voice sounds like a lullaby.
"The "ex" term is not quite right either, it's for people who used to date." "And I don't date, not very fond of that."
She finished her words with a playful smirk on her lips. Her blue eyes look straight at Bonnie, making her avert her gaze uncomfortably.
"Eve."
"Yes, Mim?"
"... behave." Mim shakes her head with a glint in her eyes.
Eve grins at her soft scold.
"I've always had great manners, you can ask the girls... or maybe yourself?" Eve's flirting game is on another level even Bonnie is flustered from hearing it.
Mim blushes as she fans herself, she doesn't know how to answer or be brave enough to lock eyes with those ocean blue eyes.
Before Bonnie can come up with something to pick a fight with Eve, her father calls.
"Eve, come here, I want to introduce you to this person."
Eve nods to her dad.
"Sorry ladies, duty call." Her eyes linger on Mim before she picks up her glass and walks away from the table.
Bonnie rolled her eyes annoyingly while Mim stayed starstruck.
"Is she always like that?"
...
"Mim?" Bonnie snap her finger in front of Mim's face
"Uhhuh, she is." Her voice lace with indescribable emotions.
"She's... different."
One look at her best friend and Mim chuckles.
"Oh?"
"Did you just compli."
"No! It's an observation." Bonnie brushes it off coolly.
"Right, to my observation. It seems like you've lost this battle." Mim poke.
"Really? That's your observation? I thought you were too busy staring at Eve to notice?"
Bonnie didn't laugh. In fact, she looked even more serious.
"Multitasking is one of my greatest skill Bon." Mim tilted her glass toward Bonnie.
"Her eyes are very blue."
Mim nods along with her words.
"Hmm, those eyes and that physique pull me in like a moth to fire."
Bonnie smirks.
"That good?"
Mim swirls her glass of champagne.
"I will keep this one to myself. I guess you would've to experience it yourself Bonnie."
"Stop Mim before I throw up everything in my guts and embarrass you here."
Mim cackles.
"Then don't ask too much. You might regret the answer you get."
"Ugh, fine."
Bonnie suddenly remembered that View is in the same room with them.
When she takes a split second to look at View... she's shock with her jaw almost hanging off the floor. The older girl is as red as a red tornado with lightning coming out of her eyes. Bonnie feels goosebumps start appearing on her arms, she's not the one at fault in this when Mim is the evil one who hides a secret famous fling from her.
"RESTROOM ASAP!"
Mim jumps at Bonnie's outburst.
"Um... okay, you don't need to announce it to the whole room."
Before Mim can finish her sentence Bonnie's already sprint to the restroom.
------
"Now?" Love asks, whatever View wants to do she should do it now when Mim's standing alone at the table.
View doesn't answer, the sides of her dress are crumpled in her fists. But then Mim turns slightly and looks at her, her breath catches, her fists loosen. View takes a step forward but Mim's gaze pulls away a little too quickly and is no longer on her, View bites her lip as she sees Eve come to stand beside Mim.
And just like that, she's rooted to the floor, once again helplessly watching the two. View feels Love's hand rubbing gently on her back, for the first time it doesn't soothe her.
------
"Ah.." "You've been rough with me Bonnie."
Prim grunts after being pressed up against the door by Bonnie, who pounds on her like a wolf in heat.
Bonnie chuckles in the crook of Prim's neck.
"I thought you said this is only a one-time thing?"
"You just have to bring that up." Prim rolls her eyes cheekily as Bonnie leans back and instantly beams.
"Well, we've only officially been together for exactly 336 hours. I haven't settled in yet." Bonnie earns a peck and the actress pulls their body to mold together.
"Mmh I didn't know you would count." Prim pushes her hips forward into Bonnie's, successfully coaxing a low moan out of her.
"You've underestimated me. I've been counting every second we spend together."
The actress laughed adoringly, she finally got herself a clingy and silly wolf.
"Should I be concern with how fast you get over your ex?" Her voice is full of teasing.
Bonnie furrowed her eyebrows.
"Now you just have to bring that up?" She mimics Prim.
"I'm a woman Bon, I need something reliable as evidence before the court."
"The court? Do I know them?" Bonnie smirk as one of her hands slide from Prim's neck to her butt, squeezing it while her other hand hook under Prim's thigh and bring it over her hip.
The actress sigh in pleasure, feeling please with their positions.
"Hmm, I don't want to doom your light but it's the gang."
Bonnie look down at Prim's dark brown eyes, lust pools in them.
"That's unfair isn't it? You have three on your team while I only have one." She continues giving Prim short kisses even though her lips are swollen.
Actually, Bonnie's team is close to none because she's pretty sure Mim can be bribed by View, but that's hard to happen now anyway. Until then Bonnie's confident the CEO can get her out of anything.
"One all powerful Rattanawadee on your team is enough advantage Bon Bon." Prim unbuttons Bonnie's blazer with one swift movement as her other hand tangles deeply in Bonnie's locs, yanking gently from time to time.
"Then I should start gathering myself a good amount of evidence too."
"But I will only collect physical ones." Bonnie pointed to the hickeys trace from her neck to her shoulder.
Prim smirk, her eyes droop, inviting her girlfriend to devour...
Bonnie suddenly sprung back.
"I need to go back soon."
... Prim stills... in a bad way.
"Wow, that's the most turn off thing you've ever said babe."
Bonnie whines, holding her tighter.
"I knowww but Mim is.."
"Mim is a grown woman who can take care of herself. What are you worry about?"
Without letting Bonnie come up with an answer Prim pouted.
"You seem to care about your precious best friend more than your own girlfriend Bon."
"I'm jealous." The actress turn her head to the side.
Bonnie gaze at her girlfriend's sulky state and immediately switched to a sad puppy, with shaky voice she cooed.
"That's not true, I care about you both equally." Straight to jail she goes.
"Equally!?" Prim raise her voice in utter disbelief, the actress wanted to break out of Bonnie's hug and leave but how can Bonnie let her?
"No Prim! I'm sorry, that's not what I mean." Bonnie pleaded.
"Then what do you mean?" Prim stays but she increases a little distance between them.
"I care for Mim like my sister."
"I care about you differently. You're different." Bonnie speaks with confidence, grinning from ear to ear.
"Different how?" Prim smiled slightly.
"... I love you. You're one of the most important women in my life." Bonnie reached out to pull Prim into her again by unfolding the actress's arms and tugging her closer.
"I love you Prim, only you."
Prim's frown quickly turns into a bright dazzling smile.
Most people may think their relationship moves too fast, especially since they've only been official for two weeks but it actually makes perfect sense for them because believe it or not even before Bonnie gets to meet Prim she has the biggest crush on her, swayed by her beauty and moved by her performance in every role.
"I love you too, from the moment we met." "It's so easy for me when you look like a sweet puppy back then."
Bonnie trails kisses from Prim's lips to the column of her neck before she husks softly.
"Does that mean I'm not your sweet puppy anymore?"
"Mmh."
"No cause I can still see your tail wagging." "But I think you're more like a wolf now, fierce." A kiss behind Bonnie's ear.
"Strong." A kiss on her jawline.
"And overly protective." Bonnie's bottom lip gets trapped between Prim's teeth as she bites gently.
Bonnie whimpers, a shockwave sending throughout her body.
"Ah...mmh." "You forget my five star possessiveness baby?" Bonnie put a leg between Prim's, feeling her wetness rubbing on her thigh.
Prim gasps, her head lull forward and nestles in the crook of Bonnie's neck while her fingers dig deeper into her shoulders.
"You're proving your point Bon." She bit hard on her lip to stop a moan, which Bonnie always objected to every time because she sounded heavenly.
Bonnie chuckles.
-----
"Baby this might not be the time to tell you this, very bad timing."
"Um.. I haven't told anyone about us dating yet... not even Mim."
When she didn't hear a response, Bonnie's panic kicks in.
"B..b...but I will tell her soon! There's just been a lot going on with the company, and then things between Mim and P'View have turned awkward ever since they almost kissed, so she has lots on her hands which equals no time for a heart to heart with me." "It's definitely not because I wanted to hide our relationship or I'm embarrassed or anything at all, like at all."
...
"Pfft."
"Are.. are you laughing? Is that a laugh?"
Prim's laugh became clearer.
"Yes silly, I am laughing. Cause I've never heard you stutter that much before and you're rambling." Prim plays with Bonnie's hair.
"Because I really need you to believe me."
Prim straightens up against the wall, signaling Bonnie to have a breathing session with her.
"Of course, I believe you Bonnie." "And if this makes you feel better, I also haven't told the gang about us, okay? Calm down pup."
Bonnie beaming her gummy smile at Prim's pet name.
"Great! I... I mean not great? Um..so P'Love didn't know that you're here?"
Prim shake her head no.
"None of them knows I have a different event to attend here. Luck is on our side babe." Prim teasingly tracing Bonnie's collarbone.
"Hmm, so it seems." Bonnie gives her a peck.
"I wanted to tell them first before we go public." "Don't want my fans and the media to scare you pup." Prim looks smug while Bonnie is loving the 'pup' too much to be competitive with her girlfriend.
"Au, I'm degraded? Besides, as long as I have your love, I don't care what they talk or write about me." Bonnie placed a small kiss on her shoulder.
"Me too, whatever it is, and however things turn out." "I'm not going anywhere."
This is their promise to each other, for their past crushes, and for their new love.
"I will find the time to tell Mim soon." "Promise."
"Do whatever makes you comfortable baby. But for now, less talking and more kissing please."
"Ooh, now that's something I am super comfortable doing." Bonnie smirked.
"Wait, don't you have to go back to Mim?" Prim asks, but she keeps their body glued together as if she already knows Bonnie's answer.
"Mim can wait, she's an adult." She's ready to jump back in where they left it earlier.
"That's the right answer pup." Prim pulls her down and into her mouth.
-------
Mim's enjoying the piano when Eve comes up to her side, holding two glasses of champagne. She placed one in front of Mim.
"A drink?"
Mim smiles while keeping her gaze behind Eve.
"I'm not trying to get drunk tonight."
Eve's expression doesn't change as she pulls the glass back towards her and then stops a person carrying trays walking by to tell him something Mim didn't hear.
Shortly after, the waiter reappears, setting down a glass bottle of water alongside a new glass for Mim.
"Thank you, Ms Langton. " Mim turns her focus to Eve with a mischievous glint in her eyes, slowly drinking the water.
"You're welcome, Ms Rattanawadee."
Eve copied her, bringing her glass of champagne to her lips, drinking at the same pace as Mim.
"Nice last name by the way.." "Thanks." "If anything..it sounds lonely." Eve smile flirtatiously "Want to merge with mine? I'm gladly giving it up."
She successfully makes Mim shyly blink up at her.
"You're being inappropriate Eve, unfair." "That's not ladylike." Mim thought she could win against Eve for once, also she's sober now thanks to her flirt.
The blue eyed beauty laughs.
"Lady like? I didn't know I'm a noble woman."
"It's fit you, a Langton and a gentlewoman, same thing." Mim shrugs.
"Aah, you haven't heard the rumors circulating about me then." "Gotta say there are some very fascinating ones." Eve slightly leans forward while cheekily whispering.
"And it's not like you don't know me Mim."
"Yes, I do." No interpretation needed, Mim challenges Eve with steady eyes. She almost smirks when Eve suck in a breath, discreet to others but it was obvious to them.
Eve drops her gaze first, indicating Mim has got her sweet victory.
"Where's Bonnie? She should be coming at my throat by now."
Mim rolls her eyes jokingly at Eve's subject change tactic.
"Bon is my best friend, not my bodyguard."
Eve chuckles.
"I can't tell, she was ready to strangle me earlier." "But I think she's too real to do so. I mean I can already tell I have a bad influence on you cutie." She wink.
The CEO doesn't mind Eve using those pet names on her, it rather brings back memories of their college years.
"Hmm, I've always liked your confidence." Mim feels giddy and fully immersed in Eve's familiar chill vibe.
"Oh? There were other women after me? Do tell." Eve looks too interested, almost like how Bonnie would react.
"There's no woman, I'm too busy with the company to even have one." Mim sighs while Eve bobbles her head.
"And who's stopping you from chasing that workplace pleasure?" Her voice drips with satisfaction.
"No one...mixing business and pleasure is not how I like it."
Right after Mim says that, the blue eyed woman steps closer until Mim can feel the way her chest moves with each breath.
"How about this?" "Do you like this?" Her lips hover just slightly above Mim's sensitive ear as they quickly turn red under Eve's hot breath.
One of Eve's slender fingers grazes under Mim's chin before gently guiding her bambi eyes up to match hers.
"Shall we get out of here?" She smiles mysteriously and her tongue swipes over her lips, making them shine.
Some silent gasps and jealous whispers are heard.
Yes, Mim wants nothing more than to leave this place. She was planning to sneak out and was about to execute it, but when Eve asked somehow the language sounded unfamiliar, and spontaneous unlike anything Mim had known before.
Her arm stretched up to touch Eve's cheek, and her thumb carefully put a tiny pressure on her cheekbone.
"I think your eyes have gotten bluer."
Eve sighs peacefully, tilting her head against Mim's palm.
"Is that a yes?" "Let me take care of you tonight."
...
A cough breaks through the transparent wall around them and rings loudly against Mim's ears. She's aware of the people in the room. Therefore, she acknowledged all their envious looks coming her way.
The CEO could not care less. It's not her fault that they want Eve while the Langtons' daughter only gives attention to her.
"They're all staring." Mim drops her hand down on Eve's firm shoulder, not in shame but because she's not planning on going home with Eve tonight.
"Let them watch.. let them know I want you." Her words are not driven by lust or desire, and something about the way Eve says things like this without hesitation makes it hard to walk out of the event alone.
"Very tempting Eve."
"You're right. I shall get out of here but you Miss Langton, need to stay."
They both catch sight of Eve's father and brother stumbling over their feet, and her mom looks at her for help. Eve laughs.
"Guess we have to reschedule for another time." Eve beam.
Mim smiles back, nodding.
"Get home safely." "I will come find you Miss Rattanawadee."
"Ookay." Mim pats her shoulders before leaning in for a swift hug.
"It was nice seeing you again Eve." The CEO can tell Eve is melting into her.
"Me too."
------
Love glad View left soon after Eve came to Mim's table. Their interaction may ruin her entirely. She didn't know their story or what their conversation was about, but through those minutes, Love knows their relationship is not simple. She wants to get mad at Mim on View's behalf, but then this isn't involved her and Mim's very single.
------
View feels the air take over her lungs as soon as she steps outside. She has never felt so cooped up in one place like that before. Being in the same room with Mim is easy, but being in the same room with Mim and not having her attention is intensely worse than missing out on your own birthday party.
View only has herself to blame. She can't muster up the courage to approach Mim. It's already bad enough that ever since the "mall" incident that's all View thinks about, how close they have been, how her reflection shines in those eyes, most importantly how their lips have been so close.
After that, View goes to work with an empty head, only bearing the image of Mim that day, making her jump and nervously try to swallow the lump in her throat every time Mim calls her name or wants to see her without Bonnie to discuss work.
They should've talked right after but for whatever reason they chose to move on with the day like nothing ever happened or maybe it was their way of convincing themselves that it was all a wild dream as long as no one mentioned it.
View's ready to head back inside, but the air is smack out of her when she sees Mim walking out the event door, down the stairs.
"Mim." View swear it's reflex. She almost choke on her spit from forcing the lump blocking her throat down.
On her final step, Mim inhales deeply at the refreshing air and fades chatting noises behind her.
"Why are you out here P'?"
"I need a breather."
"Hmm, I understand. Apparently, elite parties are not for me."
View's gums show upon seeing Mim's dimples appear.
"That's why I'm going home."
"You are?"
"You should go back in P'View, I heard they're starting to hand out numbers for the lucky draw." "I don't know what the winner this year get though."
View chuckles.
"Was it weird that I don't want it?"
Mim leans her head back while rolling her eyes.
"It's not what you want P', it's what you need."
If Mim knows what View needs right now, they wouldn't be standing here.
"Um.. where's Bonnie?" She doesn't want to know but she asked because Bonnie is a bridge and it keeps the conversation flowing, exactly what View needs to ask the real question.
"Bonnie is still in there P'. She disappeared on me to probably make out with her girlfriend."
"Oh, haha.."
"Can I drive you home?" There it is. View's big ask.
"Don't you have to drive P'Love home P'?"
"Nope, her wife makes it clear that she's coming to pick her up."
Mim nods slowly.
"Well, I don't want to bother you after those times."
"Who's said I'm bothered? I'm not..never." "B..besides, it's not safe if Bonnie is not with you, and..and you've drunk quite a lot too." View rants in one breath.
Mim takes her time staring at View, everything about the older girl is too fascinating.
"I'll have you know that I'm totally sober and you also drink P'View."
"I have less than you Mim." "No offense but sober or not it's still dangerous for you to call a taxi." As if whenever it was hard, View will use this super reasonable excuse on Mim.
"Jeez, you sound like my mom P'."
...
"Did it work?"
Mim cackles at View's straight face and question.
"Haiz, what else can I do? I don't have any other options."
They walked side by side to View's car, and just like all the other times, Mim sat in the older girl's car. View always make sure Mim gets the princess treatment.
------
Once they enter Mim's neighborhood, and View's hyperfocus on driving she wasn't expecting the younger girl who had been silent the whole ride to ask this.
"Do you know what sounds really good right now P'?"
"What?" View glance at Mim to find a wide smile plastered on her face.
"Froyo."
A beat pass.
"A what?"
"Froyo, frozen yogurt?"
"Frozen yogurt? So...ice-cream?" View asks with pure confusion. She's not that old yet she has no idea what Mim's craving.
The younger girl stifles a laugh, she tries to.
"No P'View, it's an entirely different thing, less sugar and no cream, hence the name."
View tap on the steering wheel while nodding along to Mim's explanation.
"Don't tell me you've never tried it P'."
View smiles.
"I haven't."
Mim gasps dramatically, in shock.
"Then I'll send you the link to all my favorite spots to go to. You can try them out."
View grips the steering wheel when Mim indicates that she is going to try them alone.
"Wait, I have to try them alone?"
... "Uh... you should ask the trio to come with you. Food tastes better when we share."
View doesn't answer as she continues driving.
"Uh.. um.. I think my house is in the other direction P', you miss the turn."
Mim doesn't know what caused View to go nonverbal on her.
"P'View where are you taking me?" The younger girl doesn't think View would kidnap her or anything, but her eyes are getting heavy.
...
"Froyo." View answer in a nonchalant tone of voice.
"Froyo?" "You're taking me to a froyo place?"
"Yep."
"Just put the address in."
"But.. P'View, I'm.."
"Food tastes better when we share right?"
"Yes..." Mim mumbles, her hands start typing in her phone for nearby froyo place that opens till late.
"Most of the places are closed P'View~" Mim whispers death threats at her phone, why open a business if you're gonna close at nine? "I found one still open but they don't offer seats, only takeaways."
View take Mim's phone and puts the address on her car's screen.
"We can have it takeaways. And I'll find a place to park for us to enjoy."
"Ooh, you're so quick for that P'."
View feels warmth bloom in her chest.
Of course, she's quick at cliche romantic ideology. View's the one who plans most of their date in the past, sometimes including the ones she comes up last minute are perfect.
-----
"Stop looking at me, I can't focus when you look at me like that!"
???
"Focus? You're having your first experience of froyo, and I get to join you so deal with it P'." Mim giggles biting on her spoon.
They're leaning onto View's car hood, parked close to a carnival with froyo cups in their hands.
As View takes her first spoonful, she almost squirms at the instant brain freeze.
"It's so cold."
"It's in the name P'View." Mim grins "Do you like it?"
Frozen yogurt might as well be a scam. Not only does it taste like normal yogurt, but it is also not as sweet, smooth, or creamy as ice cream.
"It's icy and tastes like yogurt." She's trying to gaslight herself into liking it.
"Exactly! It's healthier than ice cream too. Which means it's 100% better."
View 100% doubt it, but she doesn't disagree or fight her over this, especially when Mim looks happy, and they're having a good vibe going on.
"I like it."
The younger girl smiles, gazing up at the stars while View gazing at her face.
"Have you noticed how we've acted so polite towards each other?"
"Hmm, we are P'?"
"Yeah.."
"It's probably because we almost kissed in the mall." View stilled, holding her breath.
"Makes everything awkward." Mim sighs, rubbing her eyes tiredly.
"We should probably talk about that."
"You don't have.." "I do! P'View, both of us need to."
... "You want to do it here?"
"Yes P', I'm not your boss right now. You're not my employee."
View chew on her inner cheek, even though she feels Mim's shoulder brush lightly against her is enough... she wants more. She wants to have her arms wrapped around Mim's waist from behind while the girl relaxes and puts all her body weight on her, just like old times.
"You want to start P'View?" Mim wouldn't force View to talk about it if it makes her uncomfortable, but she would need View to listen.
"Um... I."
"What happened that day shouldn't happen."
... "No." The answer comes defenseless.
"We should never be in that position." Mim continues.
"No."
"You shouldn't have leaned in first, and..and I shouldn't have followed you."
"No." View whispers more to herself.
"I can't have that as an answer for everything I said P'View."
View look at Mim puffing her cheeks. It would be cute if it's not a frustrating reaction toward her.
"Sorry, you're right."
"We should never ever be in that position." "I don't know what possessed me that day." "Who knows? It could be muscle memory kicks in." View's purely saying that to herself, but she should've done it mentally because Mim hears it, and she's staring at her like watching some sort of experiment in a lab, taking notes and analyzing her.
"I'm glad you can crack joke P', it must be funny to you?"
"No! I... I mean I'm glad it didn't happen." "Because you got rules right? No business pleasure."
Mim immediately turned red, she had carelessly overshare personal matters.
The CEO better not hear a single rumor spread in her company.
"Apart from that, we're exes working together."
"I know, and I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to make it worse whatsoever." View will accept all the blame just to make the conversation end faster.
Mim sends her a half smile.
"There's nothing to say sorry about P'View." "It's just weird, kinda like when you kiss your friend on the mouth." "Ugh, so awkward and cringe worthy."
View cackles.
"Totally, friends don't kiss each other on the mouth."
"Gosh, finally we agreed on something." Mim teases, using her bossy voice and bumping their shoulders.
-----
"Thank you for introducing me to froyo, even though ice cream is still superior in my heart."
"Same P'View, I just suddenly crave it tonight."
"Hah I miss this, the starry night, the vibrant city. I'm home." Mim's on her feet, spinning around in front of the older girl.
View admired the colorful scene painted out for her, like a person getting high on pills.
"I miss you." Unlike earlier, View intends to let Mim hear it. Her words sound both familiar and nostalgic, she has said those words so many times, whispers them in her dreams or when Mim's sleeping beside her.
Mim slowed before stopping completely. She stood facing away from View, her angelic giggles fading into the dark.
It took a while until View heard her voice again, but it was far from what she wished to hear.
"I should go home. I'm not as sober as I claim to be." Her voice is shaky as she speaks into a void.
View feels tears start forming at the corner of her eyes, she had to lean her head back and blink like crazy to stop it from falling.
"Mim.."
"Can you just take me home P'View?" Mim rushes to cut her off.
"Of course." View choked out upon seeing Mim's lips quiver, and she quickly bit down on them.
Mim didn't wait for View to finish her words and sprinted to the car.
"Shit." View's worst nightmare has really come to live. Almost everything she said can trigger Mim, and most of the time, she is either the cause of putting her in a bad mood or emotionally pains her.
-----
View gets back to the car, already knows it's gonna be a quiet ride.
They once again pulled into the neighborhood, Mim instantly fixed her posture and sat up straight with one hand already on the car's door handle, ready to escape.
"We're here, um... I'm sorry Mim."
"We both have too many drinks P'." The younger girl brush it off.
"Yeah." View didn't dare look directly at Mim.
Before getting out of the car, Mim's soft voice wrap around View, making her painfully yearning for her.
"Thank you so much for driving me home, P'View. I own you a lot."
"No, you.."
"Goodnight P'... text me when you're home." "Or..or not." Mim hurriedly adds.
"I will. Goodnight Mim." View gives her a confirmation and a smile that doesn't reach her eyes.
Mim didn't catch that, or maybe she did, but doesn't know what to say or what the correct reaction is. So she left after a nod.
-----
'I've successfully arrived at my destination.'
Mim immediately let out a laugh at View's goofy message.
'Happy to hear that P'View.' Mim snuggles under the blanket and she thought that was the end of their text but life's always unexpected.
'Thank you for paying, for my first experience of froyo btw.'
Mim smiled happily while reading it.
'Well, I've got to pay you somehow for all the free rides you didn't charge me.'
Mim switches to texts Bonnie, letting her know she's home and no need to worry.
-----
At View's house, she's finding a way to tape the phone onto her body cause she never wants to leave Mim's texts unread, especially now when she's trying so hard to be someone part of her life again.
View hopes she can make it in Mim's casual friends list, no higher than that, special treatment and deeper emotions can evolve later.
View giggles to herself before deciding to bring her phone with her to the bathroom. Without any intention of washing up, she typed on her phone.
'Next time, I will be charging with ice cream.' She hopes she's not showing too much excitement or being too obvious through the text.
'Sure P', still a good deal if you insist on being my driver.'
View reread the message a few times, hoping to solve the code hiding in it. She wonders if they're flirting? As View said before, it's been a long time since her last date and she had forgotten how to flirt or read signals.
Also, Mim is her ex, whom she tried to fix things with and win her over. The lines are super blurry.
'I miss you.' Call View crazy but she wants to try again. Hopefully, without seeing her face, Mim's reaction is better.
'...'
'...'
'...'
She watches those dots appear and then disappear in a loop before feeling too anxious and throwing the phone on her bed.
View shower as fast as she can... to save water and frantically lunges for her phone.
It reads. 'I don't know how to answer that or how to feel P'View.' View's mouth curved downward.
'But what I do know is that having froyo with you is a nice feeling.'
Great! 'nice' is a positive word. She makes Mim feel nice. View can scream in joy.
There's more to her text, biting her knuckles View read the rest.
'I haven't felt like that in a while, definitely more enjoyable than any parties I've been to P'.'
View falls onto the mattress while holding the phone tightly to her heart, her cheeks flushed pink as she's in pure bliss. This shows Mim has a strong effect on her even after all those years, she's still able to turn View into a love addict.
_____
View cheerfully skipping into work the next day. She met Bonnie on the top floor, outside Mim's office.
"Someone's happy."
View grins.
"It is a very sunny day Bonnie."
"Oh, I'm sure it is."
"I've never seen you in this mood before, especially in the morning. It's usually the moody, sad girl vibe."
"Hey! You're about to ruin it."
"Haha, sooo you get laid?" Bonnie smirk knowingly.
View coughing out of control.
"No!"
"Hmm, yeah I don't see the glow from you meanwhile it's definitely seeping out from me."
The older girl scrunches her face in disgust.
"Ew gross, tmi Bonnie."
Bonnie shrug unapologetically.
"Tell me already P'."
View takes a second to compose herself from getting excited, her cheeks are hurting.
"After the event, I went to get froyo."
"Huh? Getting froyo?"
"Yeah, oh froyo is.."
"I know what froyo is P'View. It's literally in the name."
"Just want to make sure, I have no clue what it was after last night."
"Yeah P', can you get to the point already? You had froyo last night after the event all by yourself?" Bonnie gestures for View to continue where she left off.
"See, the funny thing is I don't have it alone."
"Uhhum." Bonnie is about to run out of patience if View doesn't just tell the full story.
"I have it with Mim."
...
"We had froyo together last night."
...
"And then when I drove her home, and we texted."
...
"It feels so good Bonnie, it was like old times."
...
"Well, I did mess up a bit when I spilled my guts by telling Mim that I miss her." "And you would think that I must be totally out of my mind when I text her that I miss her again."
...
"She replied that she didn't know how to respond or feel, which is bad, but then her text reads having froyo with me makes her feel nice, which is insanely good."
"Do you want to read it?"
...
"Do.. do you want to?" "Bonnie?"
Bonnie has stood motionless with a blank face from the moment Mim's name tumbled out of View's lips.
She shouldn't have asked, is this her curse for being a good friend? She doesn't want to dim View's light since it's a rare sight to witness.
"Hehe, I forgot about the whole tmi ordeal." "I need to drop off this file to Mim, then like it or not I will show you those messages."
Bonnie instantly caught View's wrist as she walked by.
"Uh.."
"You shouldn't go in there P'View." The younger girl yanks View away from the hallway and into another meeting room.
"Okay? Why?"
"Someone else is in there with Mim."
"Right, a business partner you mean? Why're you talking like she's having an affair?" View chuckles, sitting down across Bonnie.
The younger girl sighs, she's going to be the bad guy in their story soon enough.
"Eve's in there." "She's here and she's in there with Mim, P'View." Bonnie almost put herself in a time out in the corner for spoiling this.
...
"Eve?" View search in her head for an image and instant regret hit her. Beautiful, arrogant, and seems to have something going on with Mim.
"Oh."
Bonnie wince, that tiny 'oh' is enough to send her into an endless cycle of guilt.
"They seemed close last night."
"Yes."
"From Mim's body language, I'm guessing last night was not the first time they met?"
"No."
"They must've known each other in college."
"Yes."
"Mim's comfortable with her."
"Yes."
Bonnie only gives 'yes' or 'no' answers because it's somewhat harmless and what choices does she have?
"Do you think that Mim likes her?"
"I don't know P'View." View was hoping the answer would be a confirmation, positive or negative either way but don't be in between.
"Well, you talked to them last night."
"How did it go? Do you feel anything strange about them?" "Were they flirting with each other? Or were they just friends?"
"I DON'T KNOW P'VIEW!"
"I don't know, okay?"
View laugh miserably.
"Don't sound sympathetic to me if you say you don't know Bonnie. You clearly know something but you're choosing to hide it from me."
"That's not true P'."
"What are you scared of Bonnie? Hurting me? Or betraying Mim?"
Bonnie looks at View without recognizing her, she's pushing Bonnie's limits to get what she wants.
Even if it means putting Bonnie in a position where she has to choose between them when knowing both outcomes are not much of a difference.
"I'm not doing this P'View." "I think you should go home early, I will tell Mim."
"Did you know what happens between them?"
Bonnie's eyes twitch a little at the sudden question.
"That means yes, tell me."
View sprang up and ran to Bonnie's side.
"Tell me, tell me, Bonnie." "Please."
Bonnie has to look away from View before firmly shaking her head.
"No P', I will not tell you anything because it's not my place nor my business."
"Oh, and if you didn't know already, I wasn't there with Mim in her college era."
"I.."
"Give me the file and go home P'View, you need rest."
View pulls the file away from Bonnie's reach.
"I'm fine, I will hand Mim the file myself. It's my team effort poured into this"
Bonnie thinks View should get checked, her stubbornness is not normal.
"Fine..." "Do you need anything?"
"Just give me a minute Bonnie."
-----
"Mim! I know you don't like drinking in the company but right now I need my bestie, lots of hugs, and a bottle of wine."
"Hey Bonnie, damn you look like crap."
Bonnie didn't bother giving Eve a greeting.
"Thanks! That's actually comforting." Bonnie says sarcastically.
"Why're you still here?"
Eve is relaxing back against Mim's guest sofa. She always seems like she's enjoying herself.
"I was supposed to leave earlier but Mim wants me to stay."
"Hmm."
"Care to elaborate Mim?"
The CEO looked from her best friend to Eve back to back.
"Eve's on contract delivery duty."
"You are? Wow the great Eve Langton graces us with her presence today. What a miracle."
Eve laughs.
"Glad you're not shy with your compliments, but slow down Bonnie, it's getting hot in here." She jokingly pulls on her shirt collar.
Eve's so charming at everything thing she does and it's starting to rub off on Bonnie, while Mim can't believe she's shamelessly having sinful thoughts of Eve, something totally out of character.
"Gosh your eyes, are they real?"
Mim giggles because she used to ask Eve the same question.
"Definitely, not only are these real but also all of this too. Jealous?" She wave a hand from the top of her head to her feet.
Bonnie rolled her eyes as an answer, she didn't feel irritated by Eve's smart mouth. She kind of feels like they're friends but Bonnie needs to stop being friends with Mim's lovers, recent or past.
*knock knock*
"Come in."
Moment View step inside the room, a smile quickly makes its way on Mim's face.
"P'View."
'View?' Eve noticed the name almost immediately, she quietly took in Mim's smilewas quite fast to connect the images including their circumstances.
"Hi, uh.. I have the file for you." View looks towards Eve for a beat second only to quickly divert her gaze to Mim.
"Excellent. You've never failed to impress P'."
"Yeah, well it's all team effort." Rubbing the back of her neck, View replied awkwardly.
"Don't discredit yourself P', you're a great leader."
View's burning up and she's going to explode if Mim's next line is another compliment.
"Would you look at the time, it's pretty late."
They turn at Eve's voice except View.
"Late? It's morning."
"I know, but the jet lag is chasing after me." Eve stands up and walks closer to where View is standing.
"Oh, then the contract.."
"Sorry Mim, you will have to make deals with my brother. I'm just the carrier."
Mim holds her forehead.
"What? Aren't you also the CEO?"
"Technically yes, on paper. I don't have interest or want to get too deeply involved in the family's business though." Eve balances on one leg with her arms behind her back as if she's a kid misbehaving.
"I knew it! Becoming a CEO was never your style."
"I'll get a word in with my brother, I'm sure he'll be delighted to sign the contract."
Mim grins, if Eve said that then the contract is definitely secure.
"So why did you decide to come back?"
"My father thinks it's been a long time since the Langtons made a public appearance as a whole family so he called me." "Guess what occasion is perfect for it?"
"The fundraiser."
"Exactly." Eve keep the explanation short before saying.
"That's my father's reason, I have my own, which is." "I miss you, Mim."
A low gasp escapes Mim when View feels like someone just punched her throat, making her painfully sick.
"That's not.. you're inappropriate again Eve." Out of the corner of her eyes, Mim sees the older girl remains the same, maybe a little gloomy.
"I speak nothing but truth."
"I really should get going. Catch you sometime later? Hopefully, it will be in private."
Mim slaps her arm and pushes her to start walking to the door.
-----
Returning from escorting Eve, Mim finds View still in the spot, not even moving an inch from when she left.
"Sorry P'View, I shouldn't have kept you here wasting your time."
"It's okay. You're my boss." View didn't smile or joke, her voice fell flat.
"Doesn't make it right." "I will take the file, and you can leave P'." Mim grabs onto it but can't pull it out of View's death grip on the other end.
"Um... P'View?" "You can let go."
"Or you can drop it on my desk."
Mim stares, trying to figure out what's wrong with View. It couldn't be because of Eve, right?
"P'View. Are you okay?" The CEO placed her hand on View's wrist.
...
"I'm fine."
Mim can hear her, but she doesn't know if View's actually fine like she said.
View's gaze fixed on Mim's hand on her wrist. The touch is barely there.
At this point, View doesn't trust what she can't feel, scared that it's one of her imaginations.
She placed the file on the desk as Mim's hand retracted along with the movement.
"I want to take a few days off." "I know it's sudden but."
"Of course, take as much rest as you need P'."
"Are you sure you're okay?... Is there anything I can do?" Concerned written all on her face.
"No, there's no need to trouble yourself, Mim." "If there's nothing else. I'm leaving." "Have a nice day." View already turned her back on Mim.
"You too, P'View."
-----
Bonnie has been walking back and forth for nearly 30 minutes without Mim's acknowledgment.
"Mim."
"Hum?"
"I know this is not a good time, but I've made a promise, and there's no better time than this with so much on your plate."
Mim looked up from the paper to Bonnie, who was continuing to walk in front of her, talking to the air.
It's not like she's reading anyway. She has lost the ability to focus since View's strange behavior.
"Something wrong?"
"No, no, I.."
"Can you stop moving? I'm getting a headache."
Bonnie stops, facing Mim in her seat.
"I have something to tell you."
"Okay? You seem nervous Bon, what kind of talk?"
"The hugging and heart to heart kind."
Mim nods.
"Got it, personal stuff." "Go ahead, I'm ready, with no judgment and only offers positive vibe."
"Right, okay, uh... I don't know where to start."
Just when Bonnie's done rearranging her sentences to not sound like an idiot, the phone on Mim's desk rang.
"Yes?" She picked up and put it on speaker.
"Miss Rattanawadee, you have a meeting with Mr Paul later." Mim peeks at her best friend. Bonnie's face dropped instantly.
"Tell him I'm busy and reschedule the meeting for another day."
"Uh... right on it boss."
"Also cleared all my schedule today as well."
"I'm sorry? B... but.. there is.." "Just do as I say."
Mim hangs up and smiles at Bonnie.
"Tell me all the tea bestie." She goes over the sofa and pats excitedly on the seat next to her.
"You probably shouldn't have done that Mim."
"But I did and there's no return." "Speaking of guilt tripping, now you needed to tell me. After all, I've canceled a possible important meeting and the rest of my schedule for you Bon."
Bonnie rolled her eyes but already sat down beside Mim.
"Then should I sacrifice something in your honor? For being an absolutely bestest best friend?"
"I would like that very much actually."
"Okay, enough with jokey jokes. What's wrong?"
Bonnie gulp in a big breath.
"Wait, do we need booze for this conversation? I'll take a look at your stash."
Mim grabs Bonnie's shoulders, shaking her.
"Stop trying to avoid it, and I don't store booze inside the company Bonnie." "Only an immature person does that."
"I did."
"Hum?"
"Nothing! Right, don't freak out." "But... Prim and I are in a relationship."
...
... Mim's mouth hanging open, but there's no sound, trying to form a word.
"Shit! You and Prim?"
"Yes, we're serious, Mim."
A second pass.
"Oh no, no, totally, obviously." Mim hastily explained, she doesn't want Bonnie to get the wrong idea.
"I.. I'm just.. wow! This is good, great. You're happy when saying her name so I know it's good."
"Uh... how long?"
"Officially two weeks." "Oh." It comes from Mim unprepared and unexpectedly.
Bonnie takes it as a negative reaction.
"You think we're moving too fast, don't you. Well, you don't understand Mim."
"I've had a crush on her long before, years even. I love her and no one can judge us, not you, not P'View or P'Love or P'Tu."
Mim pulls Bonnie towards her and tightly holds her.
"I'll never judge you Bonnie, especially when you look so over the moon, I'm not exaggerating."
"I can see how Prim's love makes you more beautiful Bon."
Bonnie blinked her wet eyes up at Mim.
"Really?"
"Yes. There's no room to question your love for each other." "But I do have one though, what happens with your ex girlfriend?"
Bonnie slid her body down, so now her head is in Mim's lap.
"She cheated on me." "Remember that day I told you I've prepared a surprise for her and went home early?"
"Noo." "Yep, went home and caught her butt naked in bed with some basic below average girl." She spoke with malice malice-filled voice without toning down one bit.
Mim's playing with Bonnie's hair and she almost yanks on it upon hearing about the cheating ex. Who in her tiny little mind does she think she is? Cheating on Mim Rattanawadee's best friend, one call from her and she can make that girl's life a living hell.
"I can't believe she did that to you. Please tell me you've got your revenge on her." Or Mim will take business into her hands and it's gonna be a gory scene.
"No, but I came to look for Prim right after walking out of that house, does that count?"
Mim's left speechless for the second time.
"Uh.. duhh, as you should Bon." "You guys slept together that night hmm?"
"It's weird that you know, but then again there's Eve."
"That night Prim said it was a one-time thing to me."
"Hmm, typical. There's always the pleasures and then the denial comes after."
"Sounds like you've tons of experience." Bonnie's half smirk was still visible to Mim's annoyed expression.
"Believe it or not I only committed to one."
Bonnie jolted up.
"Damn, now I want to hear your story." "How did it all start? How was your first interaction with Eve? How did you get yourself entangled with a Langton?"
"Welp that's a lot of trauma dump, and the last one I didn't know a gorgeous, smoking hot stranger who I ran into first day would turn out to be from a high class empire."
"So you will tell me?"
Mim sighs.
"Do we even have time for this?"
"Ooh, we do, we very much do have all the time."
"Fine, I will tell you, the short version is good with you Bon?" Mim tease.
"Uh, uh no way in hell it is Rattanawadee."
"Hold on a minute, I feel like this story is going to be good but also sad."
"Be right back, need to dig into my booze stash." Bonnie flees before Mim can get mad but she still yells after her.
"Hey! How dare you store alcohol in my company!?" "You'd better finish all of them today!"
