The formation of tastes and reading preferences is heavily influenced by society, creating many prejudices, and horror, along with other dark stories, falls victim to this.

Deep in everyone's subconscious lie primal fears like death or supernatural forces, yet fueled by curiosity, these fears become obsessions. Horror stories, like Pandora's Box, attract the curious, and that very obsession leads them to despise and undervalue the genre. Additionally, stories that touch on real-life issues like depression or sexual assault are often accused of promoting violence, exaggerating problems, or negatively influencing young modern minds.

As someone who explores these topics, I'm no exception. In a forum discussing my work on depression and domestic violence, some called me a troublemaker and a promoter of suicide, with a few even spamming my social media accounts. They labeled my stories trash and called for a boycott, causing my sales to plummet and costing me my publishing contract.
