9. Sabito- Music
modern au, sabito is still alive
__
Today wasn't a particularly busy day in the train station, just a few tourists and Japanese passersby was all I saw in front of the suburban countryside. Carrying my guitar around was easier, due to the lack of people, as I didn't want the instrument to get damaged. Pushing and shoving never really did anything great to fragile objects.
Stepping up to the platform, I had my ticket in hand and waited for the next booth to arrive, tapping my feet against the ground. I admired my surroundings, finally getting whiffs of the fresh, country air inside of the sickening smog of the city.
The prefecture I performed a show in was located in a visually pleasing area, the rolling green fields in the back rippling as the wind brushed them gently. In the distance, I could make out a small prairie farm, its white metal windmill turning ever so slowly.
It was satisfying to look at, but a bit boring to what I was used to. Taking out a small wrapped lemon sweet, I twisted it open and threw the plastic casing away into the trash bin. This might help ease my boredom.
Puckering my mouth as a sour candy was placed on my tongue, I sucked on it until the thin coat of malic acid faded, revealing the sweeter core of the candy. Humming in satisfaction, I took out my phone and unlocked it, pressing on the messages app, seeing that I had one notification from Sabito.
when are u coming?
Typing a response, my tongue swirled around the ball of flavored sugar in my mouth, the faintest hints of citrus dancing along my taste buds.
i'm waiting for the train rn ! ('▽'ʃ♡ƪ)
ft me when ur on! ^_^ <3
ok bb :)
I closed my device and pocketed it, hands hanging loosely by my sides. Plucking imaginary chords in the air, I imagined that I was playing right by Sabito, his melody ringing clearly in my mind. However, the dreams fell flat as my ears picked up the faintest sounds of the train arriving at this stop, a rolling noise followed by a closer screech as the vehicle halted in front of me.
A woman's automated voice came on, announcing the arrival of the metro, and I boarded quickly, then took a seat so I could call my boyfriend as soon as possible. Plunking my things down in a random cabin, I sat and whipped out my phone, happily dialing his number, my front camera turned on already.
Sabito's face suddenly popped up on the screen and I waved, feeling my heart rate go up at the mere sight of him. The lavender-eyed guitarist laughed joyfully at my flustered expression, poking fun at the fact that I was so easily swayed.
"Look at you," he teased, mouth curled into a big grin, "I can't wait to see your reaction when I kiss you." I sputtered, face heating up even more. Trying not to scream on the train, I was reduced to giggles and peeps in my seat, completely smitten over Sabito. I felt like melting into a puddle right then and there, but was saved by a knock on my door, which startled me enough to regain my composure.
The conductor poked his head into my compartment, kindly asked for my ticket, stamped it, then left. Turning back to the camera, I noticed the peach-haired boy was gazing fondly at me, to which I chuckled at. His cheeks were just a shade lighter than his hair, a twinkle in his bright, purple eyes.
"Now who's the one being blushy?" I shot back slyly, laughing at his behavior. Sabito put both of his hands up in surrender, a small smile tugging on the edges of his lips.
I couldn't wait to see him again. It's not like we were a long distance couple, I just had a gig to go to for a couple of days, but I missed him like crazy. We were part of the "Water" unit in the "Pillars" band alongside Giyuu, a close friend. During the final exam as trainees, I ran into them unexpectedly while getting lunch, and we've been friends since then.
For the rest of the train ride, we talked and talked about the latest news, gossip floating around here and there, and the new trainees we thought looked quite promising. We could've went on and on endlessly if it weren't for the train arriving. The conversation stopped as I heard the train shudder and stop, the robotic female voice coming on the intercom once again.
"Arrived. Please, watch your step as you exit the vehicle, and have a nice day!" Looking pitifully at the camera, I pouted as I had to end the video call. My boyfriend returned the expression, fake sniffling to add more drama. I laughed in response, shaking my head at his childish behavior, and blew a kiss to him.
"See you soon babe!" He waved goodbye and I pressed the red "end call" button, then pocketed the device, clutching both straps of my guitar case. It was only a short walk to Sabito's apartment, a route that I knew by heart. Padding along the roadside, I heard the distant buzz of cars, horns honking everywhere, and the scattered murmurs of people.
This was the life.
Breathing in the oh-so-familiar city scent, I quickened my pace, motivated by the thought of getting to see my lover once more. It didn't take much longer for me to break into a small run, my instrument bouncing against my back. My eyes spotted the apartment complex after I passed a few blocks, and my legs had never moved quicker.
After scaling the steps to the entrance, I flung it open and pressed a button for the elevator, jitters making my hands shake. Butterflies flew freely in my stomach, though I couldn't pinpoint the exact reason why. Perhaps elation, excitement, anticipation were all bombarding me at once, and I just didn't know how to react.
I felt my heart beat against my rib cage as a bell dinged, signaling my ride was here.
Getting on the mechanism, I was grateful that Sabito lived on the third floor, so I wouldn't have to wait as long. My leg still bounced up and down as I traveled upwards, closer to the peach-haired boy's complex. Once the doors slide open, I bolted for his room, knocking frantically on the right door.
Inside, I heard a shout and a gasp as someone on the other side moved quickly to unlock their door. Seeing the gap between the barrier and its frame grow wider, my grin spread further across my face. The opening finally revealed my boyfriend in black jeans and a patterned blouse tucked neatly into his pants.
"Sabito!" I exclaimed, falling into his arms. He laughed joyously, embracing me and holding me close as if I were the most precious thing on Earth to him. Giggling into his chest, I clung onto him like a cat that didn't want to let go, body sinking into the Earth from exhaustion.
"I'm all sweaty, but at least I got to see you earlier!" I panted, voice muffled by thick fabric. A pair of strong hands helped me back onto my feet and lavender eyes bore into mine, love and admiration welling up inside. Sabito leaned in to give me a long kiss, his arms gripping my waist and pulling me deeper into him.
I felt his tongue swipe my bottom lip and let him in, hands snaking to the back of his head. We stayed kissing for a while, but broke apart when both of us finally needed fresh air. With half-lidded eyes, I hazily glanced up at him again, my body calming down from its previous high. I'd gotten what I craved for so long.
"Come inside, you must be tired," he suddenly said, perking up, "I washed your sheets, too." Smiling in appreciation, I stepped inside the living space and closed the door behind me, the wood locking into place with a small click. Sabito entered my room with me and sat on the bed, waiting for me to change.
Putting my guitar case down was relieving -- I no longer had to carry so much extra weight. Stretching, I groaned, my back cracking. There was an unbelievable amount of tension stored in there, no doubt the effect of heavy lifting.
I switched to clothes that were more comfortable, and plopped down next to my boyfriend, sighing in relaxation. My eyelids fluttered shut involuntarily, muscles resisting any further movement. Sabito laid with me, his thumb brushing against my cheek. I snuggled farther into his shoulder, arms lazily wrapped around his torso.
"Love you," I mumbled, half-asleep. The sound of laughter reverberated through the lavender-eyed male's chest as he pressed a small peck to my forehead. Then starting to hum a lullaby, his smooth voice coaxed me to pass out right then and there, pleading for my activity to turn into slumber. Slowly drifting away, I heard one last thing before the lights went out completely.
"Sleep tight, baby."
