Kind
Anna was kind.
So kind that everyone who knew her said, “She’s the sweetest person I’ve ever met.”
A friend forgot their wallet — Anna paid.
A coworker had to work late — Anna finished their tasks.
The neighbor needed a pet sitter — Anna took care of the cat, even though she was allergic.
Anna didn’t know how to say no.
She was afraid of upsetting people, afraid of being seen as selfish, afraid they wouldn’t like her if she stopped saying “yes.”
One day, she stayed up all night helping a colleague write a report.
The next morning, that same colleague snapped at her: “This isn’t how I wanted it.”
Anna smiled softly. “Sorry, I’ll try harder next time.”
But that night, when a friend texted “Are you free?”, Anna stared at the screen…
And couldn’t bring herself to reply.
She wasn’t tired of the work.
She was tired of being treated like she wasn’t human.
She felt pain. She had limits. She needed help too.
But she had hidden that side so well — no one saw it.
