The Mirror Rebellion

When the sun fell silent,
and mirrors stopped shining,
those who had lived by reflection…
began to look into their own shadows.

The rebellion did not begin with blood.
It began with a turning away.

In a monastery on the western ridge,
a Reflected named Verien
removed her glass mask and shattered it beneath her feet.

“We’ve stared at Him too long,”
“so long we forgot… we have faces of our own.”

That act spread like fire across still waters.

In the city of Elaris,
a grand hall burned all its wall mirrors.
In the glass tower of the northern realm,
scholars rewrote the Mirror Scripture, replacing the first verse with:

“Nothing forever reflects a light that has gone out.”

Pride felt every fracture.
Each shattered mirror, each oath set aflame,
echoed in him like cracks in his own soul.

He stepped out onto the highest balcony of the Citadel.
Below him, thousands of fires were lit—not in worship,
but to bury his image.

“I am the light,” Pride roared.
“What are you without me?”

A voice from the crowd answered:

“People.”
“Free.”
“Real.”

For the first time in his divine era,
Pride was not feared.
Not worshipped.

But abandoned.

Ashen watched from a distance.
He wasn’t happy.
Not angry.

Just… silent.
Because deep down, he knew:
For the world to escape a god’s shadow…
that god must be left behind.
