Chapter 21 | The Plan

"Where are we go—"

Tyler cuts me off by pulling his jacket off and tying it around my eyes, blinding me. Lee still has his hands firmly grasped around my own as they drag me.

After a few seconds of stumbling, I hear a door open and I'm clouded by an utterly horrifying smell. The door shuts again and I hear a click, a swoosh, a slam, and another click.

And then Tyler takes the blindfold off.

Tyler, Lee, and I are all cramped together in some sort of stall, with nothing but a toilet and an empty roll of toilet paper. The smell has only intensified since I was shoved in here.

"Why are we in the bathroom?" I spit, pushing the guys out of the way and glancing at the floor. At the colored tiles on the floor.

The tiles are blue.

This is the boys' bathroom.

Immediately, I jump up as if I've been shocked, backing up against the tile wall, which has been graffitied by several markers. In a mad rush, I bolt for the door.

But quick-footed and sly Lee beats me to it, blocking my way. He slides his hand as protection over the small silver door lock.

I can't leave. I'm trapped. In a bathroom stall, in the boys' bathroom, with two boys who are both probably stronger than me.

This doesn't sound good.

"What are you guys doing?" I hiss, not wanting to be heard in the boys' bathroom. "Why did you take me here?"

"So we could discuss something," Tyler answers smoothly. It's hard to see him as smooth right now, though, considering his dripping shirt and tangled sticky hair.

"What do we need to discuss? And why do we have to discuss it here?"

"For safety reasons," Lee answers. "Absolute privacy in here."

"How do you know someone won't just walk in?" I snap, glaring at him, though he doesn't respond.

"No one comes in this bathroom," Tyler says, pulling his jacket back on to cover the glue stain on his shirt. "It smells so bad in here that nobody even bothers anymore."

"Well that's just great," I retort, leaning against the stall. "What do you two idiots want?"

"What do you mean, idiots?" Lee asks, giving me an insulted look.

Tyler copies the look. "Yeah, Rose—other than possibly Alex, Troy and I are the smartest kids in the class! Well—I thought Troy was smart, but now I'm not too sure."

"Hey!" Lee cries. "What about me? I'm smart!"

"That's debatable." Tyler turns back to me. "But that's not the point of this conversation."

I roll my eyes. "Does this conversation even have a point at all?"

Lee nods. "Yes. We need to discuss revenge."

I raise my eyebrow at him. "Revenge? Who do we need revenge on?"

"The others," Tyler replies. "Especially Alex. She was the one who did it, but I have a feeling that this stupidly genius prank could only be the idea of an extremely stupid genius."

"And by that you mean Glory," I answered.

Lee snickered. "Yeah, pizza face was definitely the one who came up with that prank... it was such a stupid, easy prank that it ended up working."

For a second, my blood boils when I hear Lee refer to Glory as 'pizza face', but then I remember. She and Alex betrayed me. They chose Troy over Lee.

They chose Troy over me.

"And we don't need another reason for revenge on Troy—obviously." Tyler coughs, starting to pace. "Troy will be back tomorrow, and we need a prank that'll get all three of them somehow."

"What kind of prank would that be?" I ask. I'm still not sure about the idea of pranking them, because I don't want to get into trouble.

"We don't know," they said simultaneously.

Lee smirks. "That's exactly why we brought you. Tyler might know Troy the best, but you definitely know how to get the upper hand on Glory and Alex better than we do."

Should we really prank them? Did they really do anything wrong? This whole thing still seems a little... I don't know... off.

Yes. We have to prank them. We have to. They betrayed me, they betrayed me for someone they hardly even know.

But suddenly, I have an idea. I'll be doing exactly what they want if I give them a good prank, and I won't get anything out of it other than petty revenge.

I need to blackmail them, in a way, I need to make them give me something in return for my ideas, for my information.

And then I know.

"Okay," I tell them. "I'll help you come up with a prank. But on one condition."

Tyler and Lee immediately look uneasy. "And what would that condition be?"

"Tell me what you were whispering about."

Tyler bursts into laughter and Lee just glares at him, his electric-blue eyes furious slits. He turns his glare to me, and I shiver under the intensity of his icy stare.

Did I really just think that about Lee Cancer? What's happening to me? Don't tell me I'm actually falling for him!

"Can't you pick something else?" Lee asks. "Like, actually anything else?"

I grin. "Okay, I pick something else. What did Troy actually dare you to do?"

Lee's glare only gets worse and Tyler stops laughing. "How did she know that he—"

Lee sticks out a leg and kicks him in the shin, shutting him up. "I already told you what Troy dared me to do," he insists. "He dared me to kiss you, remember?"

"I remember. I just don't really care," I say.

"Fine," Lee growls. "I'll tell you what we were whispering about... but only after the prank is over."

"That's not fair!" I shout, forgetting about not being heard. "What if you just don't tell me?"

"We're people of our word... or at least, Tyler is," Lee tells me. "But we've given you our price... now give us a prank idea."

"Well," I say. "Alex is scared of roaches and Glory's scared of vomit."

"Great," Tyler retorts sarcastically. "All we have to do is put roaches in Alex's hair and vomit on Glory and that'll show 'em."

"I'm just telling you what I know." I roll my eyes again. "I'm trying to be helpful."

"Besides," Tyler mutters. "Troy isn't scared of anything, I don't think."

And then it comes to me.

"That's wrong!" I shout suddenly. "I know what he's afraid of!"

"What?" Lee and Tyler ask together.

"Troy's afraid of people knowing that he kissed Glory!" I cry. "Lee never really told anyone, just kinda referenced it when they were fighting."

Lee is nodding excitedly but Tyler is shaking his head. "That's good, but how are we going to fit Alex into this?"

By now, Lee has stopped nodding. With a grin, he slides open the lock to the bathroom stall door. His electric blue eyes are glinting mischievously.

"Don't worry, you two. I have a plan. A plan to show the others that Lee Cancer, Rose Virgo, and Tyler Singleton really are the smartest kids in seventh grade."
