Chapter 35

Two days later, when Kiyo went to school, he found out why his class didn't see the homeroom teacher.

Because the person who was about to take the position was a drunkard, the principal had to change to someone else.

This time a young teacher, who just graduated two years ago, teaches History. She is relatively tall, with long brown hair, tied in a white bow. Her name is Charlotte.

Charlotte happily took the lesson plan and went to class B.

"Children! Good morning- Huh?"

There are only five children in the class. Includes Kiyo, two other boys, and two girls.

"Why so few..?"

"Um, everyone else has gone outside." - A female student answered.

"And why didn't you come to class the other day?" - Kiyo asked.

"Ah, that one.. There's actually a teacher who was supposed to be the homeroom of this class, but his drunkenness stopped him..."

"I see.." - Kiyo sighed.

"So you'll be the homeroom? It's a pleasure to meet you!" - The girl clapped her hands.

"Junko... you don't have to be so formal..." - Another timid girl replied.

Kiyo kinda recognized the person who greeted the teacher.

It was Junko, who has a red bow with a yellow cat button tied to her long brown hair, which is down her back - was a popular young writer, whose stories are mainly related to history and romance. She had now sold five books.

And the other timid girl is Kaori, a nurse...intern. But she knew more about forensics than the other interns.

Who and what Kiyo is, we already know. The boy at the other end of the table was a florist, and his name was Kanryo. Famous for creating very unique and creative fake flower bouquets, even lifelike ones. Not only know how to make fake flowers, but he also has an amazingly accurate flower arrangement. In general, anything related to flowers, he was good at.

Kanryo sat up, picked up the bouquet he had just made, and respectfully handed it to Charlotte:

"First day of class... I respectfully give you a bouquet of flowers to celebrate the day you and we came here."

"They're fake flowers, teacher." - Junko giggled.

"Stop that flattery attitude..." - Kiyo still said with his hand under his chin, because he had seen Kanryo do the same thing every time a new friend came.

Charlotte just smiled and looked at the clock.

"Wow, it's almost time and no one has come yet?"

"We don't have to go to class." - A boy holding a book about insects sighed.

"Huh?"

"So we just came here to study for good, then get more professional training, then we'll have a job after graduation. Isn't that fine?"

"B-but we still studying anyway?" - Kaori shuttered.

"Shut up. Leave me alone."

"Genjitsu.."

Charlotte saw this and sighed.

"Even though it's the second day, you guys are already this sluggish...?"

Then she shouted:

"This cannot be allowed to continue!" - She wears an apron and transforms herself into a nanny.

Kiyo was also startled because he thought it was the old Yuri, although her outfit was almost 100% different.

Junko responded:

"Wow! You've become a nanny!"

"But don't you teach History..?" - Kaori sullen.

"Yes, but in the past, I was a nanny at an orphanage, where I studied history and taught this subject at the same time. Back to the point, now that we are a group, we can't let it go. Now, we need to summon the others up here."

"Okay, teacher! Our youth will be gone if we only study!" - Junko responded again because Charlotte also liked history.

Genjitsu saw this and slammed his hand on the table:

"Do you guys want me to get along?! No way!"

Suddenly, Charlotte put the knife to his neck.

"What..?" - Genjitsu was startled.

"Entomologist boy... what's a class if everyone thinks like you..?" - Charlotte's face was full of murderous intent.

Kiyo sensed that, so he tried to sneak out.

"You really have some guts to do-"

Charlotte dropped her knife on the table. Turns out it was a fake knife.

"Huh..?"

She put Genjitsu's neck again:

"Just a bit of a prank. But thinking like you just said shouldn't exist."

"Great..."

Then Charlotte turned around and asked Kiyo:

"Where are you going?"

"Um.. I'm going to call Sunny." - Kiyo is still clutching the doorknob.

"Sunny? Ah, the programmer boy? Why not let the whole class come along for fun?"

"What..?"

So the whole class went to the IT room.

"Kiyo goes alone is enough, why to bother dragging us all along?" - Genjitsu growled.

"Come on, this is the way to go! The first day of school should be more refreshing!" - Junko rejoiced.

"Only you can see that."

Kiyo paused, gently opening the classroom door. The room is quite dark.

"Quiet. Or Sunny will ruin the whole code."

Charlotte slowly entered, sneaking behind Sunny who was typing. She waited until he was done to call.

"Phew, I'm done." - Sunny sighed and pressed the key ending the program.

Charlotte put her hand on his shoulder.

"W-who is that?????" - Sunny jumped out of the chair.

"It's me, the homeroom teacher of my class." - Charlotte showed a bright smile.

"Ah, hello. Is it time yet? Forgive me, I didn't notice until now, I was so focused-" - Sunny clasped his hands together.

"It's okay! Our class is looking for you and the other students, it's not time yet, don't worry."

Kiyo just laughed. Damn, Sunny's personality is still the same.

Next is the farm gate. There are cows (both meat and milk), buffaloes, chickens, ducks, and goats. They are everywhere on the farm and only worry about their quiet life in the grasslands.

Junko was about to touch a cow, but Kaori stopped her.

"Mattia isn't it? Mattia!"

Didn't see anyone answer. The teacher called again, still the same.

Reluctantly, she had to go straight to the farm to find Mattia. Suddenly, he jumped down from an unknown location.

"Ehem. Don't come in without coming across my body."

"Why is this class so weird?" - Kiyo whispered to Sunny.

"Who knows? They must have been influenced by their profession."

"Profession that jumped down from the tree? And since when did he take over the whole land?"

Charlotte smiled and said:

"Okay then, I won't come in anymore. Let me introduce myself to Mattia, my name is Charlotte, the homeroom teacher of our class B. Let's help each other!"

Mattia nodded.

Charlotte double-checked the list:

"Um, there's one male and two female students."

"Oh that's right, let's go to the man-made textile factory!"

"I think it was about Angie..." - Kiyo turned to Sunny.

Arriving at the sewing factory, Junko said:

"Everyone prepare to meet this girl. She's grumpy, and a bit loud, so don't get mad at her or it would be tiring. Right, Sunny, her brother?"

"Huh? Oh yeah, that's right." - Sunny looked up.

"Come in then."

Junko quietly opened the door of the sewing factory. It's a bit dusty, so they have to cover their nose to get in.

Angie was embroidering a dummy, suddenly heard a human voice, and stopped:

"What?! All of a sudden, why don't you tell me sooner, you pig-headed bastards?!"

"Who do you call pig-headed bastards?!" - Genjitsu got angry, planning to hit Angie once.

"Stop it!" - Sunny stopped.

Angie was annoyed, carrying her bag to where they were standing:

"What are you guys doing here?"

"Ah, well, I'm Charlotte, your homeroom teacher, and I'm calling everyone to class..."

"I don't need your boring introduction. Want me to go back to class? Fine then."

All the students, including Charlotte, were frustrated by Angie's attitude, and very upset

However, they still went to class to recuperate. Junko is still energetic, even though her legs are already sore. The rest fell on the table.

"Okay class, there are two more, who wants to go next?"

"I really want to go, but my limbs are worn out." - Junko propped her chin.

"Your energetic personality is also your flaw.." - Genjitsu sighed.

"Geez, I don't want to go out anymore, my head hurts." - Angie held her head, pretending to be in pain.

Kaori thought she was in real pain, so she hurriedly asked:

"D-do you have a headache? Let me check-"

"Shut up pig!"

"Pig?? I'm not a pig..." - Kaori whined.

Kanryo walked up to Angie and said mildly:

"Come on, no need to be so stressed. Hey, a flower for you to calm dow-"

"I'll tear your flower!" - Angie yelled.

And now it was Kanryo's turn to be moody with Kaori.

Charlotte sighed, noticing that today's class was not very clean, and asked her friends:

"Angie, don't bully them. By the way, the room is dusty today. Can you guys clean the classroom? Take advantage of that time I will call the other two in. Agree?"

When the class agreed, she went to find the other two.

Charlotte found the dormitory near the school, rang the bell, and called through the door:

"Nam! Let's go to class!"

Nam was drawing on the computer when he panicked:

"Ah, miss! Give me ten more minutes, no, five more minutes!"

"Come on, it's almost time, if you don't go out right away, I'll come in!"

"Oh no, I have to run!" - He climbed up the window, and was about to jump down, but saw that she was already there.

"Huh..?"

***

The sky was clear blue. The water kept dancing in the fountain. Next to it was a boy, wearing a different uniform than Kiyo's class, with dark, slightly ruffled hair.

He is Neon. Today is also his first day of school, but because he has no outstanding talent, he is sent to the Preparatory Course, instead of the Main Course.

Neon stood there, looking over at the Main Lock building, thinking about the harsh, critical words he had been told, just because he wasn't special like the others.

However, no one told him that, but he told to himself. He always aspired to have at least one talent, so as not to be looked down upon.

Neon grimaced at the thought, clenching his fists.

Suddenly he heard a piano somewhere. It was melodious and gentle, but a little sad. Neon followed the sound, which led him to the Main Course's Music Room.

He opened the door slightly and walked in, and he saw a girl playing the piano. A main course student? From the back, she wore a light brown sweater, as was her skirt. She also has long hair, sometimes reaching down to her back, tied up with a white bow like that of her teacher Charlotte, but not very neat.

Neon slowly walked over and stood next to him, probably to hear better. The female student did not notice that he was next to her, and continued to play.

"...Hey."

She stopped, and looked up at Neon.

The two were surprised, looking at each other, frozen for a moment.

"... Are you okay?"

"Yeah." - She turned around and continued to play that song.

Neon breathed a sigh of relief, stood listening for a while, then suddenly he recognized the song:

"Nocturne in E-flat major right?"

When she heard that, she stood up, then stood on tiptoe to ask Neon:

"You know that right? A classical one, you know that?!"

"Yeah yeah, I've listened to it a few times. And I've also kinda practiced the piano.."

"Really?!"

"Yup, I swear!"

She happily picked up the sheet music:

"I've played this song a few times, but no one notices. The songs I composed myself, even songs by famous musicians they don't know."

"You compose your own music? That's nice." - Neon was a bit surprised.

"Hey, how about when you're free, come down here and practice with me? Really... nobody's here with me." - She held Neon's hand.

"Um, okay..." - He blushed.

"Tomoyo!"

Charlotte dragged Nam in. While Nam was trying to run away, she introduced herself:

"I'm Charlotte, from now on I'll be your homeroom teacher. Let's help each other!" - She accidentally released Nam.

Tomoyo nodded. Then Charlotte looked up at Neon:

"That black uniform... are you a Preparatory Course student?"

"I am."

Tomoyo, who knew nothing, was curious:

"What Course?"

"Don't you know? It's a course for people who come in from school but it's not confirmed to have any outstanding abilities, so they are transferred to there. And I heard that course is also used for military service."

"Is that so..."

Neon suddenly changed the emotion on his face. Because he saw Nam trying to escape from there.

"Miss..." - He pointed to Nam.

"Ah, stop right there!" - Charlotte ran after Nam and picked him up.

"Forgive me, miss!"

"This class is interesting.." - Neon awkwardly laughed.

Tomoyo didn't return to the piano, but instead looked through another piece of music she made herself.

"You guys are special, right?"

"Huh?"

"I'm nothing special, I wish I could be like you."

Tomoyo was still looking at the music sheet:

"It's not the end. We can only stick to it all day, not doing much, just afraid of being lost. People like you are much happier, you can do whatever you want."

At the same time, Charlotte finished catching Nam. She also picked up Tomoyo, said bye to Neon, and left.

Neon also greeted back. He saw Tomoyo waving at him, so he just smiled.

* * *

Returning to class, Charlotte saw that the classroom was clean and tidy, making her admire it.

"Do you find the classroom clean? It's all thanks to us!" - Junko puffed her nose up.

"Look, I've planted more flowers. Any broken equipment is fixed by Kiyo." - Kanryo said.

"Okay, five minutes until the end of the reviewing lessons tim-"

Angie fell down on her desk:

"Miss, we don't have to go to class, let me go back to the factory."

"I haven't fed the chickens yet." - Mattia also continued.

"Also, with this talent, we'll still be able to graduate anyway, what's the point of participating in class activities?" - Genjitsu was still engrossed in the bug he was cultivating.

Charlotte exhaled, then said:

"Students, having talent is not everything. You can bring it to life, but without life skills, you won't be able to survive this world. When you have a job, in many cases you have to work in groups, so being united in these first days is very necessary. You guys are still young, what's wrong with being close? If we improve together, how much will be the benefit?"

"Okay! We're in the most beautiful age of human life, so you're right!"

"Okay." - Kiyo plays with his hair.

"Whatever. As long as you're still losers." - Angie shrugged.

"Angie..." - Sunny was disappointed.

"I-I agree! As a trainee nurse, I promise I will work hard, for everyone's health!" - Kaori said.

"You're an intern, so what can you do?" - Genjitsu stroked the beetle.

"That's it! Oh, time is up. Please cherish the precious moments of your youth! Well, I'll go to another class to teach, see you tomorrow!" - Charlotte walked out of the classroom excitedly.

Kiyo felt that his class was strange, more than his middle school class, but he had never felt so comfortable at school, not even with Angie in his class.

That's how the first morning at Ikusaba school passed.
