Chapter 2

Silas Hape, an excellent doctor at Eirene Medical Haven Hospital, has always been loved and idolized by his coworkers because of his talents and his diligence.

Harley's elder brother, the one that is willingly to fix her troubles.

"Har, have you ever considered sit the heck down?" Silas smiles, the smile that is filled with anger, he gazes at his beloved troublemaker.

"Silas, I'm fully aware of what I am doing, I've never asked you to help me, I can handle myself!"

"You know Har, saying that is an equality to call a police officer annoying after he had saved you because "you can handle it" while everything you do is creating more work for me."

Silas checked her wounds, signs at it, then look at her dear bubbly face. It's not even the first nor second time around anymore, he wouldn't call it annoying, more like making him worried sick.

"C'mon bro, I'm not going to die or anything like that, you're so dramatic."

Inside Harley's eyes, her brother is just an iceberg, cold and plain outside, but somehow warm and easily-melted inside.

Growing up with him since birth, Harley has always enjoyed seeing that iceberg struggling to cut a carrot every dinners or snoring like an elephant every nights. Everytime she laughs at it, Silas would just smile, then go to his room and start writing a horror novel where he can push all of his genius ideas of murdering someone into it, obviously none of them were ever published.

"Have you ever considered that your personality is the reason why you could never get a girlfriend?"

"Have you ever considered that you could be the next body on my autopsy table?"

If one day, the one who lies on the table here is Harley, then arrest her brother right away, no need to think twice, cuz that would be the fastest way to close the case.

"To think someone as dumb as you to have a wife, she is definitely neither blind or a divine Angel from Heaven above."

Or maybe because

She's dead.

Silas helplessly look at his sister, Harley just wouldn't stop talking about it.

"Hey! Have you ever thought that we may eventually fall in love?" Evelyne whispered to his ears softly and hugged his tired body joyfully.

"First of all darling, how do you expect me to fall for you. Second of all, how do you expect me to marry a ghost. Third of all, who on Earth would want to go to a wedding when the bride isn't even alive?"

Silas "looks" at Evelyne, she giggles, what's so funny about it?  He thought.

"Oh wait! Now that I think about it! You really love "exploring inside" those disgusting corpses right? You should marry one of them!" Harley messes around and couldn't help but laughing.

Calling something that could be her in the future disgusting is quite funny not gonna lie, though it's true.

"See? My sister-in-law would absolutely love me, I'm waiting for your proposal~" Evelyne walks through Harley's body and starts hopping around like a bunny.

Just like the first time they met.

Silas still remembers it very clearly.

It was a day in the Summertime, the day he met her body, the day he met her, the day his belief shattered completely, the day the truth decided to reveal itself.

Silas doesn't believe in ghosts at all, they were just myths created by the elderly to scare the heck out of children.

But Harley used to always scared of something that will chase her in the middle of the night whenever she wanted to use the toilet.

And she always ended up making the bed wet.

That's why she always woke her brother up to walk her to pee.

Unlike her, Silas never actually gave a damn, all he cares about is that Harley has interrupted his splendid sleep, an unforgivable sin.

He grew up with the belief of ghosts aren't real

Unless it can be proven by logic, he won't believe it.

Until Evelyne appeared, determined that she's the evidence of the existence beyond all logic and moral boundaries that Silas has ever believed in, a serene smile resting on her lips.

It was just an usual night with a poor drown body.

According to the police, her name is Evelyne Montclair, 19 years old, a brilliant student at Ravenshelf University of Economics. Raped and drowned, found in the Serenity Lake.

Silas looked at her body with both pity and disgust.

Pity because of the such young and talented star that she could have became to shine in the skies above, now forever lost the oppotunity to shine. All because of the cruelty of humans.

Disgust because he hated drowned corpses, they are just the worst to medical examiners like him.

Also, just look at her, if you are no doctors or police officers, I bet you would vomit right at the scene.

He did it carefully as always.

But.

A sweet voice broke the silence, broke Silas's belief, and broke every rules ever written.

"Hiya! Mind if I take a look at myself?"

Silas felt it, something that was clearly wrong.

He turned his head.

And saw her.

Her, someone that should be dead right then, was standing in front of him.

More like her soul was standing in front of him while the body was still lying lifelessly on the table.

He fell down, "Have I gone crazy?" he thought.

"Don't be scared clumsy boy! I can't even touch you, how can I harm you? and why would I in the first place?" That creature laughed it off despite the terror on his face.

"My apologize, Silas." Alice walked in the room.

"I was stuck because of the traffic jam, do you need help with the-" Alice stopped for a second, she looked at Silas, who was sitting on the floor, looking at the nowhere.

"Silas, what's wrong? Are you-"

"Alice, I need to leave now, it is an emergency case, please take care of her for me."

The such calm doctor now lost his cool, Silas quickly fled the scene, but he still looked at it for the last time before returning home.

He still saw it, he saw Alice confusing with the biggest question mark on her face, and saw Evelyne waving goodbye at him.

But this is not goodbye.

When he returned home, thinking everything is fine now.

She broke him, again.

"Hey there! We meet again, did I accidentally scare you?"

He decided to have some days off, spend more time with his family, cook a proper dinner for his momma and go ice-skating with his sister, all of that just to get those "illusions" off his mind.

But none of them ever works.

Because those images were never illusions.

They were real.

She followed him.

Every steps he had made.

"Come on! I was also surprised that you can see me! When I tell you I want to see "myself", it was sarcasm!" Evelyne yelled, she hated it when he avoided nonetheless.

This time, something changed inside Silas.

"...What?" He didn't run anymore, he turned his back, look at the beautiful dead schoolgirl in front of him.

"I just want to ask you a couple of questions..." She moans

"What's my name?"

Evelyne Montclair, of course you dummy.

Wait.

Something isn't right, again.

She doesn't remember who she is?

Silas went quiet.

That when the story between the ghost and the doctor started.
