This world technology is only at medieval age to me,that's why it's military tactic,weapon technology and strategy only stuck there. For a man who lived in a futuristic life as me,it's very disappointing to see what they prepare to teach. This age's warfare is very brutal but the casualty rate is very low if you compare them to wars in the 20th and 21th century when hot weapons were invented.

The main fire power in this world are magicians,archers can only kill in 200 feets but a magician can kill from a mile away. Tier 2 magic fire arrows can go as far as a sniper rifle in the modern world,tier 4 rockstorm can devastate an area like artillery and so on,that's why it's difficult to live as a non magic user in this world.

In return to fighting magicians,dwarves are pioneers. Studying the scale of a dragon corpse they found buried deep under earth,they discover the rune system to reflect magic,reduce magic power or completely nullify magic. But after the unification war,the current emperor imprisoned 100,000 Asurian Khazadi or Mage slayers of the dwarf in a prison under earth above it is a labyrinth to prevent any escape. As a magician emperor,those anti magic weapons and technologies could threaten his throne that's why all of those are heavily controlled by the military and the magician academy which serve only the emperor.

Where I was appointed is a small dorm with 2 lines of rooms,there's a lot of dwarves here. Kinda easy to understand,dwarf don't have mana as natural born but they have surprisingly high ability to resist magic. They manufacture tools and constructs to use mana ores instead. Mana rifles,golem,airships etc etc are the marvel of dwarf civilization,protecting their kin for thousands of years till they sign the treaty to join the kingdom in return for protection and prosperity.

In physical terms,dwarves have bulky muscles and very strong hands but their eyes are not so good under the sun since they spend most of their life in cities under mountains. Their ability to hold a grudge is also famous so do not mess with them.

In my dorm there's only 2 human kids,me and another kid named Clauss,and there're 14 dwarves,not a very good rate.

The domination in the dorm is obviously in dwarves hand so it's better to not mess with them. I go back to my original plan,stay alive and wait for my dad to return or go find him,time is not my worry since I have a shelter now.

Life in an orphanage which became an academy now begins at 5 am. Whistle blown 3 times and you have duty to put your clothes on and get down the yard after cleaning yourself in the morning. Since we're young and this is 1st day so the supervisor goes easy on us but look at the dorm of the older kids,the punishment is not so easy.

We're taught about the history of the royal military academy and the exercise we're gonna do in the morning. After that we're sent to a hall,which looks like this used to be a warehouse. We learn how to read and write here and after lunch we spend the rest of the day marching in tune and commands in marching. Basically this is like the basic military training we take in the modern world.

At evening I'm so relieved,this body doesn't have that much energy to train in high volume so exhaustion is obvious. But I can't rest now,I try to sit and learn how to read more from what I wrote down earlier,the alphabet system of this human language. In life on earth,my handwriting is horrible,the slave life is even worse when they don't teach slaves to read or write so my goal in this life i'm gonna have a good handwriting,a calligraphy writer !!

Spent all night till they begin to order turn off the light to write letters,before i close my eyes to sleep,the system pop up

The next spring when I reach 5 years old,I'm grouped with a bunch of other kids who are as young as me,they're gonna send us to knight houses to be trained as squire for future knights. Since we're too young for proper training in the academy,we will be sent to knight houses,they will raise us and teach us in return for our serve in the future.

There's no point putting 5 years old kids like me here anyway.

The carriage departs in early morning,we're sent to a knight house named Von la Lacas,their serf is all the way in the southern guarding the Death mountain range. The Death mountain range is exactly like it's name,the mountains are high and really hard to travel through it's narrow paths,the fog covering the lower part of the mountain range whole year except one day, the result is the mountain range is swarmed with undead monsters,mana beasts and entering it most likely fatal.

The journey is planned to last 4 months,we travel through many places and things all go well until there's like a month left till we reach our destination. Although we are already in the serf of the knight house but there's still a long way till we reach there,after an exhausting day,the carriages gather into a circle around a big fireplace in the middle where we're gonna cook our dinner. We got attacked by monsters right after the dinner,the screaming and crying from other kids and the smell of blood soon festered the atmosphere.

The escort troops soon found no match for 4 giant wolf mana beasts with eyes as red as blood,a few people began to route and try to run to escape the carnage but smaller wolves soon took them down.

For the kids,we all scatter and run to the forest and pray to survive,some can't even move due to fear and soon get eaten by the wolves but most of us run away under the cover from the troops before they collapse.

About myself,this 5 years old body can out run the wolves is fantasy so i take a small box and jump down the nearby stream,using it as a float to carry me far away from the site,little did i know the stream carry me to a river which lead deeper into the jungle,deeper and deeper into the Death mountain range.

I've totally lost contact with anyone from now on. My efforts to stay float and rowing to reach the river bank is useless since the currents are too strong. I can't do anything but watch the river carry me away,trees from both sides of the river grow thicker and thicker,some trees tall as a skyscraper and it's root big as a small fortress.

Soon I fell asleep no matter how hard I tried to stay awake but the exhaustion soon took over,when I woke up the box already on a sand beach on the river bank.

There's a small stream here coming out from the cracked rock wall but there's no plants,I can see the old water mark on the wall,this place I can't stay for long or when the water rises again the river will carry me even deeper inside the mountain range. For a kid like me,getting lost in the wild is dangerous. I have to figure out how to get back to the civilization as soon as possible.

Walking along the sand beach I soon find a slope to get to a higher place,the bushes and thick plants make it very difficult and exhausting to get through. This area is very cloudy and dark,the sun will come down soon and I don't have any shelter or fire to survive the night in the jungle.

After a while I find an open area but what welcomes me is a standing skeleton with blue fire in its eyes,hiding now is too late since it has already moved toward me. I panicked cause this is the 1st time i encounter this. I run to hide in the root system of a tree nearby,the skeleton with it's bone arm can't reach me while its body is too large to get through the roots.

Sit there and calm myself down,i try to remember all the knowledge i got about this type of monster from my previous 2 lives,skeleton gets killed when you destroy fire in its eyes right ?? But this is a different world !!

The hell with this,I grab a stick nearby,get in position and thrust with all my might through the roots to the skeleton's skull. With my disappointment,the stick didn't do anything but knock the skull off the skeleton,leaving it waving its arms in the air like someone just covering its eyes. Take the chance I rush out and pick up the skull with the jaw still moving on the ground and run to the river bank,I'm just gonna do it the old style,hammer it with rock !! The skeleton body walking around without the head behind me doesn't chase me,I guess without the head it can't see me.

I pick the biggest rock I can handle from the riverbed and drop it on the skull,take it 3 times to crack the skull and extinguish the fire in its eyes. Sitting on the sand beach,I take a deep breath to calm myself before I notice there's a small purple crystal inside the skull. I stand up and pick it up,it's very cold like ice,and something pops up.

Mana ? Does this mean after all this time i finally can have mana ? And casting magic ?

Interesting,so i can personally equip my skeletons,but i see the mana required and my amount of mana… I need to kill more ???

The difficulty to kill a skeleton is not hard but the risk is very high,the skeleton is an adult size and I'm 5 years old,I'm pretty sure it can kill me with just one hit….

Time is not on my side now because all the time I lost after killing the skeleton,the night already covering the land. The tree root system i used earlier is not a bad choice...wait...what if tomorrow i can use it to kill more skeletons ? Nahhh I need to go now before I can't see anything. 

Sitting inside the tree root system,I can clearly hear there's more and more things moving out there. A giant centipede rush of a nearby bush with several skeletons already on it's back before collapse,they're ripping open the shell of the centipede which is thick as a lumber plank. Take a deep breath,now I know how strong those skeletons are now. If i don't take them seriously i will be the next centipede on the ground.

The next morning,I find a stick and lure a skeleton to the root system again. Keeping proper distance and always looking around is my only focus now but the noise my stomach makes soon reminds me,i'm starving… I gotta find something to eat after defeating this skeleton.

Things go smoothly till I crush the skull,the noise attracts another skeleton,at this point I'm so tired to run back to the root system. Grab the mana core of the skeleton I just killed and absorb it,I quickly use my 1st magic skill.

'Skeleton summon !' 

I can feel the energy quickly channeling through my arms to the magic circle that appears on the ground which makes me even more exhausted.

A bone hand breaks the ground and reaches for the sky,the skeleton soon comes out of the ground and quickly blocks between me and the incoming skeleton. I'm lying on the ground helplessly gasping for air while watching the duel between 2 skeletons.

My skeleton seems to move faster and attack more,the opponent skeleton also returns hit with its bone punches. The fight will not end soon because their attacks do not have any effect,I gotta do something before another skeleton is attracted here. 

Using my mind,i hope i can control the skeleton,i order it by my thoughts.

'Aim for the head...crush the head…'

Suddenly,the attack from my skeleton begins to change target to the opponent skeleton's skull,it takes no time to crush the skull after a dozen hits. I order the skeleton to pick up the mana core and hand it to me while I lie on the ground checking a wall full of text that appears after my skeleton kills the other skeleton.

I guess I can equip my skeleton now ? My skeleton standing next to me with its hands giving the mana core to me.

Excited yet exhausted,i hold the mana core in my hand and absorb it to regen my mana points and order my skeleton to bring me to the river bank,i don't know what i can eat but drink some water to ease the exhaustion is not a bad idea,maybe there's some fish to catch.

After a few gulps of water,i feel much better but this can't continue. I'm at a growing age,the body consumes a lot of energy,I must eat something before I'm starved to death. Then i saw moss on rocks,most moss are not poison so i decided to make the bet,the taste is terrible so i had to use the water to swallow it after chewing,the nutritious is low but it is not poisonous and keeps me full,should be okay to work and move now.

Turn and look at my skeleton,I know he will be the only way for me to survive in this world so I have to arm him with something since summoning a skeleton takes me lots of work. Since most enemies I know in this area are undead,a blunt weapon should be enough. I can make a bow and go hunt animal with my skeleton but there's a few issues to solve,1st i don't have fire,the area is cloudy and foggy for long time so on the ground there's no dry material to make fire,2nd i need better place to sleep over night because who know when that tree root system will fail to protect me.

But 1st thing 1st,i found a kinda big branch for my skeleton to use as a club,when i found some vine i would make a stone club for him. When I equip the club for my skeleton,the club begins to get covered whole with a sticky black liquid and when the liquid disappears a black wood club is revealed. Its shape looks more like a club,not just a random branch anymore and looks alot more sturdy.

So this is what adjust means heh ? The weapon I gave the skeleton got modified to blend in the look of the skeleton.

To save myself i should kill more skeletons and store mana core as emergency,lvl up this skeleton and arm him better mean i have a better guardian in this jungle,higher chance i can survive and meet my dad again. 

For now the need for food and water is satisfied but I need to find a shelter or make one,with the help from my skeleton it won’t be hard. I plan to make an underground bunker but I'm gonna need more manpower,that’s why lvl up my skeleton summon skill is necessary.

I use myself as a bait and let my skeleton attack other skeleton from behind,a swing with the wood club iis enough to crush the skull of any skeleton around here,the harvest is bountiful when in the end of the day i gathered 15 mana cored and my skill and my skeleton get improve a lot

Still only can summon 1 skeleton but i’m kinda satisfied now,with this rate i can slowly lvl up my skill and my skeleton in peace,but i can’t keep sleeping in this tree root till then. Turn around I order my skeleton to begin to dig,with barebone hands the speed he digs very slowly but in return he can continue to dig even when I go to sleep without exhaustion. I think he will make a big enough hole for me to build an underground bunker when the sun rise,before i sleep i check his stats

Hmmm so he has an even better stat than me… let's go to sleep then.

The next day when I wake up,near the root system a big hole appears ,which can fit both me and my skeleton inside. I think this is enough for today,I will expand it further this night but for now I have to go to the river and find more moss for breakfast. I order my skeleton to carry me and run to save energy and time,this 5 years old body will take a lot of time and energy to get there.

When we just go past the bushes to go to the shallow river bed,something appears on the other side of the river,a skeleton,but with torn up armor and a broken sword. There's a sigil on the armor but only half left,there's a huge bite mark on the armor which leaves a giant hole on its left side. The skeleton must be a soldier and get killed,does that mean there's a human town nearby ?

Don't wait for me to finish my thinking,the armored skeleton quickly moves and goes through the river toward me,its movement is much faster than a normal skeleton,my skeleton also looks slower than it. 

I order my skeleton to drop me down and prepare to fight.I don't expect this would be an easy fight but look at the armor, I can't help but imagine my skeleton wearing it. The enemy skeleton rushed to my skeleton and swung the broken sword,the sword embedded itself deeply into the wood club and almost cut it in half. I ordered my skeleton to quickly throw away the club along with the sword,we disarmed the enemy,now only what to deal with is the enemy himself. Punches from my skeleton don't work due to the iron helmet the enemy skeleton is wearing,making the noise bang bang bang. In return the enemy skeleton punches back,a lot harder than my skeleton,it doesn't aim for the head but that's enough for my skeleton to suffer. I can hear the crackling sound for every punch the enemy skeleton hit,it leaves cracks on my skeleton.

Deciding to help my skeleton,I rushed and tackled the enemy skeleton from behind and made it lose balance and fall down. I order my skeleton to quickly climb on and hold it on the ground while I try to remove the helmet. The fight ends soon after I remove the helmet,crushing its skull with a rock is done by me when my skeleton tries his best to hold the enemy skeleton down.

The mana core i find in its skull is much larger then the skeleton i found from other skeletons,maybe this one is a higher tier version of skeleton ??? 

Sitting down on the sand beach while relaxing after the fight,I order my skeleton to strip away equipment from the enemy skeleton,this is a jackpot.

Today loots include a helmet,2 shoulder pads,armor with a hole which I can fit my head through,2 leg guards and a broken sword. I want to use some of those equipment but they're just too big to fit me...can't help i'm just 5 now.

After equipping all to my skeleton,the equipment adjustment begins to happen,but this time there's notices from the system.

"New equipment detected...adjusting.."

A sticky black liquid appears again and this time it covers my skeleton whole.

"Evolution conditions acquired,do you want to evolve your skeleton ? Y/N"

'Yes' i say

The black liquid disappears and review a skeleton in armor with dried up blood stains on it. The helmet leaves only the fire eyes of the skeleton visible while the armor is a full plate armor covering it's whole body. The sword looks like a claymore which is as long as the height of the skeleton. This is the most badass creature I've ever seen since I came to this world.

With this I should be able to expand my area of operation,all I need to hide from a safe distance and let my skeleton to clean off monsters,give me access to more resources.

Also after killing the armored skeleton my summon skill reached 50 points,half the way now. I wonder when I will be able to summon another skeleton,could be a great help with more skeletons.

Thinking about what to do next while eating moss for my breakfast,a strange fish swam through me. I take a closer look at it,it looks like a catfish but with extra 6 spikes on its body,does this even seem edible…

Eating raw freshwater fish is not a good idea,1st they have many tiny bones,2nd they carry parasites. You need to clean it before cooking,eating raw only gives bad results. And I don't have any fire now so there's nothing I can do but let the fish swim away.

I found some berries and mushrooms on my way back,not sure which one is edible but it gives a morale boost when you see yourself carrying food back home. When I went back to the tree root system,I was shocked. The hole my skeleton dug this morning turned into a small pond with black stinky water,the shady and foggy weather kept the area always wet and moist and the ground absorbed so much water a lot of areas turned to swamp. The only thing keeping where I stand to not become a swamp is the river that's why as soon as we dig the hole,water underground will slowly fill it up.
