Excited growls and heated chasing was something Jungkook liked from his morning patrols. After his group finished scouting the area and checked all the borders of their territory did they engage in a chase. All of them chased one another until they ended up in the river to the north, or the hills in the east where they could watch the sun peak through the tips of the trees.

This morning wasn't any different, Jungkook's breathing was ragged as he chased a black and brown spotted wolf, Ryujin, who growled teasingly at him as he ran ahead. The growls only poked Jungkook further into the chase and his wolf was concentrating on getting him to the object they were chasing. Other wolves dashed around him, all of them chasing one another as they skimmed through the trees and jumped over old logs.

Jungkook was closing in on Ryujin when he sensed it. The indistinct trace of a foreign yet familiar scent that got his bones to seize from the chase. His teeth pulled in a threatening snarl as he followed the faint scent, his paws pounding on the ground as he began to run in the direction of the sudden threat. The dangerous trace got stronger, until he stopped at the border and saw a dark gray wolf with a black tail staring at him. The two gazed at each other, Jungkook could feel his wolf's need to pounce and get rid of the threat. But all too soon the wolf howled and turned to run through the trees behind him.

Only the short rustling was heard before the scent was gone, and the threat had escaped. Jungkook paced from side to side for a few seconds, his ear trying to pick out any kind of noise or movement on the other side of the border. He turned back when he heard rustling behind him, his group all appearing through the trees in confusion. He growled in assurance and licked Ryujin's cheek when he saw the hesitance in his eyes. With a low growl he encouraged the others to follow as he set on a run back to the pack.

Jungkook followed the day with worry, his chores done messily from his lack of concentration. He even managed to get on Haneul's bad side while hunting. He had let a deer go when he stumbled over overgrown roots. It was obvious his head wasn't in the right place, but all he could focus on was Myungjae. One of the wolves that had gone after him and his father. He didn't ever think he would ever see him again. The new life he was living had him forgetting about the threat that was still, surprisingly, following him.

The morning after, he kissed Jimin on the lips, patting his head softly to avoid waking him from his slumber. The sky was still dark, and birds were still nestled in the trees quietly. Behind the line of the trees he shifted, his bones cracking and his wolf restless. He set off on a steady run, his legs getting used to the movement and after a short while his limbs burned as he ran faster. Jungkook headed to the place he had spotted Myungjae, crossing through the territory and heading into unclaimed land. His nose sniffed the air tensely as he tried to pick up a scent, a lead. He slowed down, his head lowered to the ground to sniff, while his ears were pointed high. He wasn't sure how far he was when he felt a colliding weight bring him down. With a low growl he got up and ran after the wolf that was running through the trees.

His eyes narrowed as he picked up his speed and swiftly dodged the trees in his way. The sun that was beginning to rise started giving a subtle light in the sky. Only then was he able to distinguish the color of the tail as he ran with rage. It wasn't long before the wolf leaped away and landed on the other side of the small stream. Jungkook halted in his chase, his bones cracking once again as he shifted back. Myungjae followed, a steady smirk painting his lips as he stood tall. Even in their nakedness, the two didn't look away from the heated stares they were giving one another.

"Myungjae, you don't know how to give up, do you."

"He wants you dead. There's nothing stopping me until I drag back your bloody corpse and present it at his feet." The small shrug of arrogance Myungjae intended was enough to have Jungkook's blood boiling. "You're the bastard child of my pack alpha's omega. You should be dead next to the rogue who impregnated her and brought shame to our pack." Myungjae continue through gritted teeth.

"I don't want a fight, just leave."

"Our alpha is still devastated by your mothers betrayal, only the death of her bastard child will put him at ease." Myungjae snarls as he takes one threatening step towards him.

"I heard I was the only alpha my mother conceived. Your pack alpha can't conceive alphas can he, that's why he's so upset." Jungkook smirks, his hands crossing over his chest.

"Shut up! You will not speak about my alpha that way." Myungjae points his finger at him furiously, "When Shiro learns about your whereabouts and the new pack you're a part of he will come here and destroy you and your precious little pack. Mark my words mutt."

Jungkook watched the other shift and ran back into the forest. He muttered a few profanities as he shifted and headed back to the pack. A few wolves met him at the border of their territory, all of them halting their growling when they saw him. Without explaining why he was out in unclaimed land, he ran past them in a haze. Namjoon was standing with the first scheduled hunters when he arrived at the camp. It didn't take long for Namjoon to know something was wrong and nodded for Jungkook to meet him in the alpha's work cabin. Jungkook went on ahead and dressed quickly inside as he waited.

"What's wrong?" Namjoon asks as soon as he closes the door behind him.

"The pack that wanted me dead has found me. Shiro's second hand, Myungjae, was just outside the border of your territory. I went out this morning to find if it really was him and I found him. He had already picked up my scent so me showing up only confirmed his suspicions."

"Did he cross the border?"

"No, he stayed outside of it. But he knows I'm here, and he's on his way to tell Shiro. They're going to come back and finish the job the other two didn't finish."

Namjoon took a seat behind the desk, his eyes narrowed and his mouth set straight in a line. The quietness was making Jungkook uncomfortable and he was trying to figure out what Namjoon was thinking. He ran a frustrated hand through his hair, his head a swirling mess of thoughts.

"Then we must prepare for his arrival." Namjoon states firmly as he looks up at him.

Jungkook let's a hesitant whine permit through the air as he looks away with a frown. His palms were getting sweaty and the nerves were twisting his insides painfully. He didn't even try to look back at Namjoon and answer sincerely. The pack alpha was able to pick up on his inner turmoil and slammed a hand down on the desk as he stood up.

"This is no time to think about running. Are you going to run with your tail between your legs and leave Jimin behind, are you going to leave your pup behind, are you going to leave your future pack behind?" Namjoon questions him furiously.

Jungkook stood frozen for a while. The alpha had just thrown it in his face that he was a coward for wanting to run away from his family and the pack he would eventually lead in the future. His stomach felt sick as he realized he actually thought of leaving from the fear of hurting them. He didn't even stop and think that he wasn't alone any longer and he had a pack now. A pack that would stand behind him and fight with him, for him.

"If you are that type of alpha then get out of my face and never return. A true alpha doesn't run away from the problem, they face it. If you can't do that even for your own mate and pup then you are no worthy alpha." Namjoons harsh words slap him straight in the face.

"I will stay." Jungkook mutters as he finally looks up to meet Namjoon's piercing glare.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm going to protect my mate, my pup, and my pack. You're right, running away won't solve anything. All my father ever taught me to do was run if the fight was too hard. Now I realize I can't leave everything behind, because I have the person I love by my side and he is carrying my child. I can't run because I have to fight for them."

"Is that all?"

"I can't run because it is my job as your successor to protect the pack and destroy all threats."

"Good. Gather all the alphas by the training ground tomorrow morning. Do you have any idea as to how much time we have before they arrive?"

"4 days at most." Jungkook exasperates.

"You will lead the pack, and I will stand beside you. If you lead us well then we will win together. You aren't alone anymore. You have lives in your hands now, so your main fight is to keep them alive." Namjoon walks around the desk to give Jungkook a reassuring pat on the back.

"What if I fail?"

"Stop doubting yourself. Have more courage, assure your wolf first that you are strong enough to fight till death. Remind yourself who you're fighting for."

"Jimin and my pup," Jungkook replies without even thinking twice.

"And I have my mate and my pups too. Everyone here has someone to fight for. But as a pack we fight for each other."

"I will make myself capable of being a strong leader."

"I know you will be, I trust you."
