Demons, Mafia, and Gangs~3~
Chapter Title: Demons Have Class Too
You've discovered doctors are jerks. Especially ones that are the same age(?) as you and have cat ears.
And that your childhood friend is a demon. Who knew?
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"You're a demon too?"
Smoker looked down at you, and nodded. The both of you were walking amongst the hallways of New World, classes being in session so there was no one else but them. Despite that, you couldn't but feel like eyes were watching at you. Closely, analyzing you and some felt like glares to your back. You hid a shudder.
"But, why didn't you tell me?"
'He pities you.' The voice remarked. You squashed the doubt rising down, wanting to hear Smoker's explanation. He closed his eyes and stopped, you stopping with him. His expression looked solemn, eyes now opened and gazing down at you. Those warm brown eyes that have always comforted you.
"I wanted you to have a normal life (Y/N). As normal as I can make it anyways." He began lowly, smoke curling around the both of you as a result of his two cigars. "You didn't help by having a gang, but I guess that was just your demon side screaming for a fight and challenges. You thrived for those." He chuckled, and you couldn't help but sheepishly smile. He was right about that. "You were supposed to turn eighteen and not have any knowledge about my world, but now because of that idiotic Kyuubi..." Smoker growled, agitation in his features. He then sighed, looking down at you with guilt. "You're going to have a tough time here (Y/N), I'm just glad that I was the one that discovered what the Kyuubi did and not anyone else. It would've ended horribly I imagine."
Your mouth opened, another question wanting to form upon your lips, but Smoker stopped you before you could even get a word out. Saying that they can speak more once school is over and to talk about at home. The both of you walked to the Headmaster's office, when you stood in front of it with Smoker behind you, you couldn't help but turn your head at him in hesitation.
Smoker nodded at you, eyes soft to calm you with a small smile to match it.
"It's alright, go in. The Headmaster will get you started." You swallowed, and nodded, brows furrowed in determination as you turned back around to turn the handle to go in. You entered and noticed the room was quite spacious. With its white walls, managing bookshelves filled with books on the side, and a large wooden desk that had the Headmaster in the chair. The Headmaster's eyes seemed to pierce through you, and you couldn't help but feel as you looked at his gray hair and wrinkled face with a scar that you've seen him before.
The voice seemed to make a choking noise before quickly silencing themselves in your mind, which made you about to question them until the Headmaster made a motion with his hand on the two chairs in front of his desk.
"Sit, Miss (Y/N). It's not nice to stare at your elders."
"Ah!" You blinked, realizing your mistake and quickly walked over. "S-sorry, it's just... it's a big room." You sat down, looking around and noticing now there's pictures on his desk and behind him as well, a variety of them with a black haired boy and another one with freckles. There was one with a tanned one as well and a blonde that seemed to be a lover of steampunk fashion. There were more pictures that seemed to go around the large windows behind as well. You noticed that the Headmaster can overlook the courtyard from this view. Strange you've never been in this room before. This seems more of a principal office than the one you always go to.
"Is it?" The Headmaster seemed to look around as if to show, a small smile on his face as he did so. "Guess it's quite different from the human principal's office that you seem to live in instead of your classrooms." He turned towards you, a frown on his face which accentuates his deep scar.
You wanted to shrink in your seat. You don't know why, but you know this old man is strong. You can tell. If it wasn't for his strong physique than it was the feeling of tense power in the air. Nonetheless, you replied.
"Ah, you know about that?" You scratched your nose, sheepish. "I guess you do, since you said it. I'm not the best student around."
"Hmph," the Headmaster closed his eyes, no. From what Law said, his name was Garp. He lifted his hands that were on his desk to the front of his mouth, interlaced. "We're gonna have to change that immediately as well as other things since you will be starting this school. In fact, let's start now."
Before you could blink and ask what did he mean, you felt a punch to your head just as you tried to speak. Causing you to bite your tongue as your mouth closed and you fell to the floor in pain as you held your head in your hands as tears brimmed the edges of your eyes.
"Wha- WHAF DATH WATH FOR BASTHARD?!?!" You shrieked, glaring at the man that was now standing with his fist clenched out in front on his chest.
"FIST OF LOVE!" Once more, you felt a bonk to your head. You fell down and rolled around in the ground in pain, noticing that he now stood over you on the other side of the desk.
But how?! You couldn't help but think as you clenched your eyes. You didn't even see him or sense him! This pain to your head, you've never felt anything like it. The shear power from those two punches making you fall over so easily. You haven't felt this since... you've felt this before? That feeling of deja vu came upon you but you couldn't bring up the memory. Probably because you just got punched in the head! Twice!
Instead of curses at him however, all you could do was groan and continue to hold your head as you moved to a kneel position.
You heard rather than saw Headmaster Garp blow his fist.
"Brat! Talk like that again and I will have to give you another Fist of Love! I can't guarantee your survival if you make me do another one. Not without having Law's help in your recovery." At the name of the cat bastard, you looked up and glared at the man. Seeming to dare him to bring that stupid cat here. Garp only gave a sharp grin that made you shudder. "You sure got guts, I'll give you that. You're gonna need a lot of it to get through this so I hope you don't lose it. Now, get up." He put his hands on your shoulders and helped you up even if it made your head throb, before having you sit down. Him coming around and sitting on his rolling chair behind his desk. "I'm gonna give you the run through of what's going to happen now so listen up!"
You looked up, still rubbing your head and that's all he needed before he started speaking. Not giving you time to make a snark remark. He began to explain that the night school has always housed the demonic students and teachers. That in fact it was them that built the school in first place but added a day class of humans to hide their demon sides. It also helps in hiding their demon presence, due to the amount of humans that come and go within the school. It only helps somewhat, however, due to how strong and old some of the demons that come are. Mostly the the teachers. The Headmaster explained that the teachers taught the students many classes that focus on controlling their powers and how to blend into human society but also the history they have. You listened to this with full attention, your mind trying to wrap your head around all of this as you now sat straight in your seat. The pain in your head and your tongue long forgotten.
Than it moved to halfbloods, if possible you straightening in your seat even more.
"Halfbloods have never been taught in this school. This school being over a hundred years old, there's never been someone like you being taught in the night school." The Headmaster explained gravelly, him already explaining your transfer. You blinked.
"Never? In all of that time?"
He shook his head. "Halfbloods have always been dangerous. Unpredictable. It's hard to tell whether a halfblood when they turn of age that they will continue a mundane lifestyle of their human half. Or if their demon side just completely overtakes them and destroys everything around them until they are killed. Whether it be us or the demon hunters that do it."
"De...mon hunters?" You didn't like the sound of that, your blood turning cold.
"Demon hunters have been around almost as long as us demons have. They don't much like us. Gwahahaha!" He guffawed, throwing his head back even though you're positive that being hunted isn't a laughable matter. "They're powerful in their own right. They've figured out a way to kill us demons with their weapons. Some even their bodies. They've even figured out a way to live for a longer time than a normal human lifespan and a speed and strength close to a demons. Enough of them though." He waved flippantly with one of his hands, not finding the importance of speaking more about people that can hunt you. "We're here to talk about you."
"Me?"
"Yes." Headmaster Garp met his eyes with you, and once more you felt the voice in your head shrink. "What is the last thing you remember before you fainted?"
You clenched your teeth.
"I didn't faint!"
The old man tilted his head, a sharp grin playing on his features.
"Oh? You didn't? That's odd. Smoker-kun told me when he found you, you were lying on the ground looking as pale as a Elemental snow demon."
Your face burned in embarrassment, you slamming a fist on the desk in front of you.
"I was just caught by surprise is all! And—" You stopped, flushing as you raised the hand you slammed to your lips. Remembering the sensation of soft lips of your teacher, a taboo. But something you've been wanting. "Shanks-sensei...he," you lowered your hand and raised your head to look at the serious face of the Headmaster,"where is Shanks-sensei? That Neko said you were punishing him for what he did to me. For awakening me."
"Neko, hmm?" The Headmaster seemed to be amused, lips twitching up before falling as he looked over your head. Gaze afar and looking at something you couldn't see. "You don't have to worry where he is. What he did, he shouldn't have done. He knows that. Making a halfblood's demon side awaken was stupid."
You stood quickly, making the chair you were sitting on fall back as you gazed down at the Headmaster with clenched fists to your sides.
"How...how dare you say that?! Do you even know why he did it?! Huh? Were you even going to ask?" The Headmaster's eyes only widened staring at you as you went on. "He knew my feelings. Do you know what it's like to be called a monster since the day you were born? Do you know how hard it is to make friends? I thought I was just stronger than everyone. Just someone who liked to fight. And that I just had a rare disorder to make my blood silver. Do you know the feeling, of realizing, that you aren't alone?"
It was silent for a few moments before you tsked and turned away, about to walk off.
"You have no idea what he's done." You stopped, frozen midstep with hands in your pockets. "Those feelings won't go away. Don't forget what you are because the students and some teachers here won't make you forget it." You bit your lip hard, realizing what he means. That you'll be seen just as a halfblood, like what that Neko was talking about. "...you'll start night school tomorrow. Come to me if you face any trouble. You're dismissed."
You didn't have to be told twice and so turned the handle and walked off, closing the door with a quiet click that seemed to echo more than a slam that Garp expected.
He sighed, standing up and turning towards the window outside. Noticing his reflection as he gazed up towards the night sky.
"Shanks...what were you thinking? Soft Kyuubi."
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Once you exited and walked a few steps, you noticed Smoker at the corner of the hallway. You silently walked over and he said nothing as the both of you exited the monstrously large school. He must've noticed your somber and dark expression because he kept glancing at you. Due to him knowing you like the back of his hand, he knew to be silent.
Which you were grateful for. Smoker always knows what to do.
You wished you did. Cause you don't know how to feel. You're still raw from your outburst that you made to the Headmaster. Despite you being aware of him punching you in the head was in the cards due to your insolence, but you didn't care. He obviously didn't care to ask on the why, and it seems he didn't ask Shanks-sensei either. Which is stupid. Why would they punish him without even hearing his side first? You're used to people getting a trial for crimes, and it seems what Shanks-sensei did was one.
But you know why he did it. You remember what you were talking about before he...before he...before he kissed you. Your heart fluttered at the thought.
Who knew you'd be so girly and out of sorts with just a kiss. If only your old rival saw you now. He'd probably actually laugh for once. Your old gang would look at you with wide eyes probably, their Danchou always being cool and able to handle anything.
'You have no idea who you just talked to, do you?' The voice, now suddenly feeling to appear brave and come out spoke. You felt yourself blink at how sudden it was.
'Who?'
'That, that ancient being is Sun Wukong of the West! One of the oldest and most powerful noble purebloods to exist!' The voice shouted, shaking as they did so. You were starting to get confused on just how they are aware of certain things.
'You know a lot about this...how do you know him so well?'
Sadly, the voice decided to just curse at you and call you names like they always seem to so you just tuned them out. But their reaction just made you more suspicious. You kept getting a sense you knew the man(demon, whatever) after all. You just hope he doesn't punish Shanks-sensei so much.
No one deserves to be punished just for reaching a hand to someone who needed help.
"You have no idea what he's done."
You bit the inside of your cheek in apprehension and than the bell rang. You looked up as Smoker cursed.
"Damn, come on. We're almost to the parking lot. We gotta leave before the students sense you." Smoker wrapped an arm around your shoulders, you guys walking briskly as you turned your head towards him.
"They can sense me? How?"
"They can sense your demonic presence. It's like a beacon to demons to help track one another, but yours is more of a lighthouse due to you being half human." Smoker explained, and you noticed just how strong of a smell he exudates now. Your nose before always could tell he smelled like a certain type of cigar that he only seemed to buy. Earthy and smooth. Now however, you can smell that earthy smoothness with hints of metal like steel and what seems to smell like musky fur. Fur? You blinked twice and made a face that Smoker took as confusion so he went on. "You'll learn soon enough how to do it. It's not like all of them can sense you anyways, it's based on their skill and the distance between the demons. You'll learn how to hide your presence as well. Although... it might prove difficult due to how loud you are."
"Hey!" You elbowed him in the ribs, making him grunt at the impact. You spotted his lips twitch slightly upwards and you noticed you were smiling as well. "I can be sneaky too, I'll show these know it alls just who they're messing with!"
"What are you gonna show and to whom?" A voice spoke from behind them, Smoker and you tensing as the both of you turned towards the newcomer. You narrowing your eyes at the newcomer.
"You! Aren't you supposed to be in class or something?" You growled, stepping away from Smoker's arm despite him calling your name in warning. You raised a fist and put a hand to your raised bicep as your mouth turned to your dangerous grins that always made your enemies run or shit themselves. "Or, you came for the ending of our fight with you licking your wounds?"
Law scoffed, black tail twitching behind him in annoyance. He was wearing the school uniform you noticed, except instead of the black jacket, black tie and white dress shirt—it was a white jacket, white tie and a black dress shirt. Signifying his night class status, you must've not noticed his attire earlier. Too busy focusing on his appendages and his nasty attitude.
You got the sense of people watching you again, so you looked up. Your eyes widening at the sight.
"Finally noticed them? They noticed you for quite some time." Law explained with a cocky smirk, one hand raised with palm up as if to show the students by the windows in the building behind them. "There were some spikes in the Headmaster's office. And you weren't controlling yourself in my office either, halfblood. You," He accentuated, mouth in a thin line and pointing towards you, "have a lot to learn, halfbreed."
"Enough Law." Smoker stepped in with a growl, coming in front of you somewhat as you clenched your teeth. "I think you've made your point. Don't make this more difficult than it already is."
"More difficult?" Law tilted his head somewhat, and man did you want to punch his face. It just looked so punchable right than. The cat bastard just seemed to scream for a beating with that stupid smirk of his. "She already made it difficult for herself. The halfblood has a lot to prove now. My classmates couldn't stop gossiping about you." He took a sidestep to look at you better since Smoker's large body overshadowed you, gray eyes locking with (e/c) ones. "You should prepare yourself. Not just for me, but everyone else in this school. You think I'm the only one who thinks you shouldn't be here? Look up and see their faces for yourself."
You did silently, your eyes that were razor sharp spotting most of the students distaste and disgust as they stared at you. And if it wasn't those emotions, it was biased hate. You could only imagine what they were saying behind those windows, the only thing protecting them you think. Smoker did the same, cursing to himself and moving to grab your arm but you just stepped away. Him widening his brown eyes at you in confusion and concern, spotting your shadowed eye's behind your bangs.
"See?" Law stated more than questioned, putting his hand back in his pocket in a false relaxed position as he stood several feet away from you. "You should give up now. Your life will be hell here if you come tomorrow. A halfblood like you should just crawl back where you came from before you lick your own wounds soon enough if they have anything to say about it. Even Smoker won't be able to protect you that much."
"Law!" Smoker roared, fists clenched as he turned towards the panther demon. "I said that's enough!"
"What?" Law glanced towards Smoker, frowning at the wolf demon in what one would call disapproval. "She should know already. The Headmaster should've already given her a heads up, yet she seems determined to come anyways." He looked back towards you, still frowning and eyes serious. "You should give up now before it's too late."
"Oh yeah?" You murmured, eyes still shadowed by your bangs. "Well, who asked you?"
Law's eyes slitted.
"What?"
You looked up, eyes locking towards his gray one as you clenched your fists and strongly pointed at him with your dominant hand.
"I said who asked you, you stupid KNOW IT ALL CAT BASTARD?!" Silence reigned and you spotted movement by the windows in the corner of your eyes but you focused on the Neko in front of you for now. "You didn't listen to me earlier, did ya Neko?! You don't know me or my history so how would you know what I can do or handle huh?! You think I'm afraid of those idiots?" You moved your pointed finger up towards the windows, the movement behind growing as your other hand went to your hip. Law staring silently with widened eyes and Smoker doing the same."I'll fight and beat every single one of you assholes! Just you watch. It might not be today, not tomorrow or even next week, but just you watch all of you get beaten by me! HEY!" You fully turned towards the building, waving your arms back and forth to make sure all the attention is on you. Even though it already has.
You than released a sharp feral grin, raising both your hands and flipping everyone off.
"COME GET ME, YOU ARROGANT MOTHERFUCKERS!"
You gleefully spotted the shock and surprise overtaking their faces, before they became flushed with embarrassed anger. Others titling their head in curiosity and some mouth agape in awe. You lowered your arms and snickered, turning away and grabbing the shook Smoker by the arm before walking off.
You turned your head back, spotting Law's cat ears flattened against his head and slitted eyes as his tail moved actively behind him in agitation.
"Hope I'm not in your class for my sake, Neko bastard." You called back in challenge.
"And I hope you aren't in mine, halfbreed." He answered.
You and Smoker walked to his motorcycle and climbed atop of it, Smoker turning towards you and slamming your designated helmet atop you head as you yelped and asked him what that was for.
"That, was for being a fight loving idiot." He sighed, resigned as he closed his eyes. "You really didn't change." He turned back and revved up the motorcycle, you moving your arms around him in preparation.
"Pfft. When will I ever?"
And off you guys went home.
With Law still standing there with dark eyes now down on the ground, thinking back on your foolish naive yet determined expression and challenge to the whole school. Throwing his warning out the window.
"Halfbloods must have half a brain..." He muttered, before turning away to go back inside. He's gonna have to deal with his classmates making fun of him. If they do, they'll get cut. And he smirked at the thought.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Garp was below the school, miles deep and underground. It was dark and there were no windows so it was quite musty. The Underground has many uses, with one being able to hold prisoners. He was in the lowest level and stood at the last cell of the hallway. Where the worst are kept in due to their crimes. There is no sunlight. No modern toiletries besides them having a chamber pot. And no activities outside the cramped cell with no bed. Just a few strands of straw for bedding. Not only that.
Garp stared at the shackled and infamous Akagami no Kyuubi and he stared back with a calm smile.
"I imagine those chains around your wrists and ankles hurt. Yet you still smile." Garp observed, his arms crossed in front of him as he looked down at his ex co-worker grimly. "It's either you're insane or have finally snapped on me after all these years."
"Aren't they one in the same?" Shanks replied with a dry chuckle, slightly fixing his crossed legged position on the floor but not by much. Lest the shackles around him would hiss and burn him needlessly. "These are fine. Not much has changed in these talisman in the past centuries. Still hurt. But I guess you're not here to take them off of me yet."
"Why?"
Shanks rose a brow and his smile turned confused.
"Why what? You're going to have to be more specific, Garp."
"Now you say my name without 'sama'. I should add an extra shackle around your neck too for the disrespect."
"But you won't," Shanks replied, eyes cool and half lidded as he stared at the legendary demon as he calmly smiled. "That'd be too much trouble and I don't think you'd like me not being able to look at you."
"Hmph. It would." Garp assented, his lips twitching upwards before he set his expression once more. He went to sit down and sat cross legged in front of him. Not paying much attention to how Akagami rose both his brows in surprise at that. He locked eyes with him once he was done, deep brown eyes meeting autumn ones with hints of red. "Why did you awaken (Y/N)'s powers, Shanks? You knew the consequences. And you knew how much hate goes around already amongst us purebloods. Imagine with her? What made you do it Shanks?"
Shanks stared at him for a moment, in silence. Until his smile turned somber and his eyes distant.
"If you saw what I saw. And made the same conclusions I did from what I noticed with my time with her. I'm sure you would call the plea for help and give a hopeful answer too."

Once again, Happy Strong Anniversary! Whipped this up just today! I was gonna add more but I do have homework still so, I hope you enjoyed!
Honestly I'm starting to really love this AU. It's great. And I could do a bunch of things with a lot of these characters. And as I said before, the Harem is bigger in this story due to me changing SB's age. And cause demon's don't really age either so that's a bonus.
Also, sorry if some of the upcoming characters seem cruel. It's just how they grew up. So it will seem OOC! but this is how I see them if they grew up like demons instead of pirates!
Hope you watch out for the next one!
