Chapter 26 - A chance
Serena's POV
When I opened my eyes the following morning, I saw Aspen sleeping on the couch. I watched him. He looked so handsome. His long eyelashes, his alluring lips, his prominent jawline.

I shook my head.
Get a grip, Serena.
"Oh, you are awake." My mother said in a low voice as she walked in, closing the door behind her.
"Yeah." I said in a low voice, trying not to wake up Aspen.
"How are you?" She asked softly, stroking my hair affectionately.
"Fine." I said, giving her a reassuring smile.
I looked at Aspen who was still sleeping peacefully.
"He didn't leave your side for a second while you were sleeping. He didn't eat or sleep all night." My mother informed. "He must have fallen asleep when I went to drink a cup of coffee. Even your father's threats didn't make him leave." She chuckled.
I sighed sadly, averting my eyes and placed my hand on my stomach, rubbing it gently.
"What happened between you? We know about your relationship. But why did you argue?" She asked. "Your father told me about some woman who pushed you. And told that Aspen and she are together. But..."
"Carolina....I saw them kissing." I cut her off. My heart tightened as I told her. "He followed me and told me she kissed him, not him, he broke up with her blah blah. Then that...woman came and told me that...." I paused as my eyes welled up. "She said to me that Aspen used me to keep their relationship a secret." I said as tears ran down my cheeks.
"Oh my goodness." She gasped. "Don't cry, dear." She stroked my hair gently, giving me a compassionate look.
"I love him, Mom. My heart is aching." I admitted, crying.
"My little girl." She said softly and hugged me. I hugged her back, crying.
I wiped my tears off my cheeks as I pulled back. I leaned back against the pillow, my hand rested on my stomach.
"Are you okay?" My mother asked, concerned as she placed her hand on top of my hand.
"Yeah." I muttered.
"Good morning." Aspen greeted us as he rubbed his eyes.
"Morning." My mother said dryly. She was angry at him.
"How do you feel?" He asked as he approached me.
"Fine." I muttered without looking at him.
"Aspen, you should go home." My mother said coldly.
"No. I will stay here." Aspen protested.
"No, you must be tired, and you didn't eat anything too. Go rest. I am here with Serena." My mother said firmly.
As much as it looked like my mother thought about him, but I knew her very well; she was just trying to send him away. She was holding herself back hard. I felt the tension in the air.
"No, I am fine. I am staying." He said. My mother gritted her teeth, looking away.
"Go, Aspen. I am fine. You don't need to stay here. My family is with me." I said firmly.
"Serena." He gave me a begging look as sadness crossed his features.
"Aspen, go." I said firmly.
He sighed, running his hand through his hair. "Ok. I will change my clothes and come back." He said confidently.
"No need..."
"I will come back, Serena. See you later." He cut me off.
He looked annoyed. Then he left without letting me say anything.

The doctor checked me and told me that I might leave today. Fortunately, my baby was fine. Yesterday, I was frightened that I would lose my baby. Thank God. Nothing happened to him or her.
There was a knock on the door. Uncle Blaze walked in, giving me a warm smile.
"Hi. How do you feel?" He asked as he approached me.
"I am fine. Thanks." I said, giving him a slight smile.
"Good." He said, smiling. He breathed deeply and said. "I came here to talk about Aspen and you." He informed, looking into my eyes.
I bit my lower lip nervously, feeling uncomfortable.
"He told me what happened between you. He did wrong. But he really regrets it. Believe me. My son looks like his father." He said, giving me a slight smile. "He hurt the woman who he loved like I did." He confessed sadly.
I looked at him, puzzled. He breathed deeply and told me what happened between Aunt Ashley and him in the past.
"Give Aspen a chance. He will do everything to make you happy. Trust me. I know my son very well. He loves you so much. You love him too." He tapped on top of my hand as he gave me a warm smile. "Think about it." I nodded. He smiled at me and left.
Aspen's POV
I took a quick shower and wrapped a towel around my waist as I stepped out of the shower. I placed my hands on the sink counter and looked at myself in the mirror.

I have to do something to make Serena forgive me. I can not lose her.
After that accident, I understood again that I was madly in love with her. And we were going to be parents. I am going to be a father. I smiled at this thought.
I put on my clothes and left. I got in my car and went to the hospital.
When I arrived at the hospital, I saw Uncle Dan. As soon as he saw me, he gave me a murderous look. I breathed deeply and got out of the car. I walked towards him.
"I was waiting for you. We need to talk." He said dryly, placing his hands into his pockets.
"I am all ears." I said.
"Blaze told me about your fling with that damn woman." He said, emphasizing the word fling. I bit my lower lip, looking away, embarrassed. "Stay away from my daughter. I will not let you, or your slut hurt my daughter or grandchild." He said firmly.
"I will not." I said confidently. "I can not stay away from Serena nor my baby." I added firmly. I breathed deeply, running my hand through my hair as I confessed. "I love Serena."
He gave me a sarcastic smirk. "Really?!"
I breathed deeply. "Yes, I understand you. But believe me, I am madly, deeply in love with her. And I will do everything to make her forgive me. I can not live without her or my baby. And I will do everything to protect Serena and our baby." I said confidently and walked into the hospital without letting him say anything.
