I needed to go check on Beta Mark and find out who all was safe. I warned my father if he left this could happen. He shouldn't have taken as many of our enforcers as he did to the convention. He didn't listen to me, and now we may have lost some pack members. They will surely come back.
I didn't want to even think about the Angel of Death. Though I prayed he wasn't really my mate. Sure he was gorgeous, but I mean I doubted he even lived on earth, not to mention he is immortal.
"Mario, how is Beta Mark?" I asked.
"He is healing, he should be okay. I think you should get checked out." Mario said.
"I'm fine; I was inside opening the secret room, by the time I came outside everything was over." I said.
"You said you saw someone that wasn't there, I'm worried about you," Mario said.
"It came out wrong, I was referring to when Beta Mark was attacked, I think I was just in shock for a moment," I said.
"Have you contacted your father yet?" He asked me. I was glad he let the subject go.
"No, but I warned him this would happen. He should have never taken that many with him." I said.
"I agree, we lost about six of our own." Mario sighed.
"I can't believe my father's ignorance cost us," I said.
"You can't completely blame him, it is standard to take what he did, some take more." He said,
"We shouldn't have gone at all then knowing they have been lurking just waiting for a perfect moment," I said.
"They seemed to be looking for someone. I heard the Beta tell them to find her, so they could leave." Mario said.
"I can't imagine who they were looking for, we need to be more careful. Could you update my father? I just don't think I feel up to talking to him right now." I said.
"Sure, but he will want a full update from you later, I'm sure," Mario said.
I got up and went to the infirmary, I wanted to check and see who was injured and lost. We had one of the best Pack Doctors around. I hope that benefited us in this situation.
"Mary, is the Doctor in?" I asked the Nurse as I approached the little makeshift desk in the hall.
"He is with Beta Mark right now, room one." She replied.
"Thank you," I said as I walked towards room one. We only had maybe eight rooms in the infirmary, so it was pretty easy to find. Plus I knew where everything was. Room one was intensive Care.
"Rachel, how are you holding up, any updates?" I asked her.
Her face was covered in tears, and it was red from crying.
"Not in a while. I hope soon, I just can't live without him." Rachel began to sob again. I pulled her to me and just let her cry. After about ten minutes I heard a door open. Rachel yanked her head up, and I followed her eyes. They landed on Doc Wilson.
"Please tell me something good." Rachel pleaded.
"He is stable. There is much healing to do. He had multiple stab wounds to his chest, one barely missed his heart. I believe physically he will recover. Mentally, he is in shock. He has been asking for you, Lilly. He keeps talking about your Angel." Dr. Wilson said.
My heart almost stopped, was it possible he seen the Angel as well?
"I will go see him after Rachel does," I said,
"I'm sorry but I need you to see him now, perhaps you can calm him down, he is quite delirious and when he gets worked up it sends his heart in a frenzy. I fear he could have a heart attack. Even his wolf seems worked up over whatever he is talking about." Dr. Wilson said.
"I won't be long Rachel, I promise. Maybe you should get something to eat and come back. I should be done then." I said.
"I will walk you to the kitchen, I could go for some coffee myself." Dr. Wilson said.
"Wait what about the others? Who else is injured?" I asked.
"Beta Mark suffered the worst injuries. We lost five in the fight, and we have three more injured. Stacey has a broken arm, Patch has a few stab wounds but he is healing well, and then there's Robbie he lost a finger. He had it put back on and is in recovery right now." Dr. Wilson said.
It was still awful but I was glad those injured seemed to be recovering for the most part. I was however sad for the five we lost. I needed to find out who so we could make proper arrangements and I could visit their families.
"Thank you, I will meet with you shortly to discuss the five we lost," I said.
I went into Beta Mark's room and noticed the machines all around. He had an IV pumping into his arm, there were monitors all around him for various things. He looked to be sleeping, and I thought about just coming back later.
"Lilly, please." I heard him whisper.
"Mark, I'm here just stay calm," I said as I pulled up the chair next to his bed.
"Why did he spare me?" He asked me.
"Who?" I asked him.
"The Angel of Death, he spared me. I am now indebted to him. Do you know what that means?" He said his voice getting a bit louder.
"You saw him too?" I asked
"Yes, I saw him because I was going to die, but why did you see him, Lilly?" He asked.
"I don't know, maybe it was to help you," I said.
"No Lilly, I was going to die, he let me live, don't you understand? He would never do that. I need you to find out why." He said. He was getting worked up and I needed to keep him calm.
"Maybe in the end it was not your time," I said.
"Lilly, no one sees Death himself and lives. He will come for us, don't you see?" Mark said.
"Before he took off he told me you would live," I said trying to reassure him.
" I just need you to do some research please." He said.
"Very well I will do some research, as long as you promise to stop worrying," I said.
"I will as long as I know you are looking into this. I can't let Rachel know if she knows I may be indebted to him, and what he may do to our family..." He started.
"I promise nothing will happen to them, just let me figure this out. You have to be strong for her. She needs you." I placed my hand on him hoping to keep him calm.
"Lilly, your father knows about him, he has books in his safe. I have never seen them up close, but my father told me of them." He added.
I nodded my head. Why would he have books locked in the safe about the Angel of Death? It didn't make sense. I needed to figure out a way to get them out. I didn't know his password though.
"Rachel is ready to see you, do you think you will be okay while I try to figure this out?" I asked.
"Yes, I don't know the password, but you may be able to try a guess at it." He said.
I guess I knew what I would be doing today. I needed to find out if there was some possible way he really was my mate. I was sure he wasn't. He couldn't be he wasn't human or wolf. If he was playing a game I would make sure to beat him at it. There was no way he was taking any more souls from here, at least not anytime soon.
Sorry if this is a bit shorter, it is mostly getting the plot laid out a bit more. The next chapter is where it all really starts getting going. Please enjoy. I will be updating again in the next few days, maybe even later if I get my other updates out in time. Enjoy, vote, and comment. This has not been edited yet.
