16. Hunted Part 1

Skipped an episode. Sorry.

"Right before Dad died... he told me something. He told me something about you and Will."

Will looked at Dean confused, while Sam looked almost fearful.

"What?" Will asked hesitantly. Dean hesitated. Will glared at him, "Dean, what did he tell you?"

"He said that he..." Dean trailed off, choking up, "Wanted me to watch out for you two... take care of you."

"He told you that a million times," Sam reasoned. Dean sighed.

"Well, this time was different," he insisted, "He said that I had to... save you."

"Save us from what?" Will raised a brow. Dean shook his head.

"He just said that I had to save you and nothing else mattered and that if I couldn't, I'd..."

"You'd what, Dean?" Sam scoffed, growing tired of this game.

Dean was silent for a moment, "I'd have to kill you."

Sam and Will's faces dropped, unconsciously grabbing each others hands.

"He said I might have to kill you, Sammy, Willow."

"Kill us?" Will choked out, not believing her friend was saying this, "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"I don't know," Dean sighed.

"I mean, he must have had some kind of reason for saying it, right?" Sam scoffed, his eyes tearing up, "I mean, did he know the demon's plans for us? Are we supposed to go dark side or something?!"

By this time, Sam was getting closer to Dean, shouting.

"Sam," Will pulled him back, trying to calm him down. She turned to the other brother, "What else did he say, Dean?"

"Nothing. That's it, I swear."

"How could you not have told us this?!" Sam snapped at his brother.

"Because it was Dad, and he begged me not to."

"Who cares?! Take some responsibility for yourself, Dean! You had no right to keep this from us!"

"Guys-" Will tried to calm them down, but they ignored her.

"You think I wanted this, huh? I wish to god he never opened his mouth! Then I wouldn't have to walk around with this screaming in my head all day!"

"All right! That's enough!" Will shouted at the two, pushing them away from each other. Sam scoffed, turning to calm down. Will sighed, "Look, let's just be reasonable and try to figure this out, all right? No ones at fault here. Why don't we just try to figure out why John said this, huh? Figure out our next move."

"We already know," Dean answered, "I've been thinking about this. I think we should just lay low, you know. At least for a while-- it would be safer. That way I could make sure..."

Sam raised a brow, "What? That we don't turn evil? That we don't turn into some kind of killers?"

Will sighed, "Sam-"

"You can't tell me that you're not pissed at this, Will!" Sam shouted at her. Will glared back at him.

"Of course I'm pissed off, Sammy! I'm just trying to find a reasonable explanation to this! Of course I'm pissed that if Dean's not careful, he'll have to waste us one day!"

"I never said that!" Dean yelled, "Damn it, guys, this whole thing is spinning out of control. All right, you're immune to some weirdo demon virus, and I don't even know what the hell anymore. And you two are pissed at me, I get it. That's fine, I deserve it. But we lay low until we figure out our next move, okay?"

"Forget it," Sam scoffed. Dean sighed,

"Come on, guys, please. Just give me some time. Just give me some time to think, I'm begging you here, please."

Sam and Will sighed, before reluctantly agreeing.

***

That night at the motel, Sam exited the room quietly, a bag on his back. He looked around to check for anyone before he closed the door, starting to walk towards the parking lot. As he got a few steps away from the room, he heard someone behind him.

"Going somewhere?"

He turned quickly, relaxing when he saw it was just Will, dressed and her hands in the pockets of her leather jacket with a bag at her feet. Sam sighed.

"So, you were just gonna leave me here?" Will pursed her lips. Sam sighed.

"Will-" Will cut him off by smiling at him.

"Relax, I'm not mad. Lucky for you, I knew you were gonna do this. So, I packed a bag and waited out here."

Sam gave her a look, "Will, I'm fine. Stay with Dean, I just need a few days to clear my head."

Will ignored him as she walked towards him, raising a brow.

"You forget I've been lied to as well. You're not the only one hurting and angry about this," Will told him honestly, before she sighed, wrapping her arms around his neck, "So, I'm going with you to make sure that you are actually fine. It will also give Dean some peace in mind."

Sam couldn't help but smile gratefully, leaning down and kissing her sweetly, before pulling away and hugging her tightly.

"I love you," he whispered to her, making Will smile widely, leaning her head on his chest.

"You mean the world to me," she whispered back, before pulling away and pecking his lips, and backing away, "Now, shall we go?"

Sam nodded and with that, they stole a car and made their way to Ellen's.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ellen looked up from her place behind the bar as the two walked in, both of them sitting at the bar.
"Sam, Will," she greeted. Sam smiled.
"Hey, Ellen," he greeted, before grimacing sheepishly, "You don't seem that surprised to see us."
"Your brother's been calling, worried sick looking for you two," she answered. Will nodded.
"Yeah, figured he might," she muttered. Ellen raised a brow.
"What's going on between you three?"
Will decided to change the subject, trying not to unleash her anger, "So, um... How's Jo?"
Ellen chuckled slightly, "Well, I don't really know."
"What do you mean?" Sam asked.
"I haven't seen her in weeks. She sends a postcard now and again."
"Well, what happened?" he urged the woman.
"Well, after she worked that job with you boys, she decided she wanted to keep hunting. I said, 'Not under my roof,' and she said 'Fine.'"
Will winced slightly, "So, we're the people you probably want to point a shotgun at the most right now."
Ellen chuckled, "Oh, don't get me wrong. I wish I could blame the hell out of you kids. It'd be easier. The truth is, it's not your fault, none of it is."
It was silent for a moment after Ellen told him this, letting him soak in the information.
"I want you to know that I forgave your daddy a long time ago," she trailed off, "For what happened to my Bill. I just don't think he ever forgave himself."
Sam sighed, "What did happen?"
It was Ellen's turn to change the subject, "Um, so, why did you come here, sweethearts?"
Will sighed, "We need help."
***
"So, what am I looking for, guys?"
"Other people. Other," Sam trailed off, shifting nervously, "Psychics like me. As many as possible, and I need a nationwide search."
"But I thought there was no way to track them all down," Ellen stated confused, "Not all of them had nursery fires like you did."
Will nodded, "Right, but there were some and we can start there."
Ash nodded and got to work while the couple decided to enjoy some beers while they waited. Not even an hour later, Ash was walking out of his room with a slip of paper in his hand.
"Done... And done."
Will raised a brow, impressed, "That was fast."
Ash smirked, "Not all of me is that fast, baby."
Will held in a grimace as he winked at her, Sam scowling as he hit Ash upside the head.
"What'd you find?" he ordered, trying to get his attention off of Will.
"Four folks fit the profile nationwide. Born in '83, mother died in a nursery fire, the whole shebang. I also tried to find incidents similar to Will's, no other ones like it."
"Four? That's it?" Sam asked shocked at the news.
"Sam Winchester from Lawrence, Kansas; Max Miller from Saginaw, Michigan; Andrew Gallagher from Guthrie, Oklahoma; and another name-- Scott Carey."
Will picked up the paper, "You got an address?"
Ash shrugged, "Kind of. The Arbor Hills Cemetery in Lafayette, Indiana. Plot 486."
Will sighed, "So, he's dead."
"Killed about a month ago."
"Killed how?" Sam questioned.
"Stabbed. Parking lot. Fuzz don't have much-- no suspects."
Sam took one more drink of his beer, and nodded, "Okay. Thank you."
They both got up and made their way towards the door while Ash took Sam's drink.
"Where you going?" Ellen called after them.
"Indiana," Sam answered, as if it weren't obvious. Ellen sighed.
"Sam, Will," she shouted, "I gotta call Dean. I've got to let him know where you are."
"Ellen, we're trying to find answers about who we are, and my brother means well, but he can't protect us from that."
Ellen seemed hesitant, until Sam gave her what Will called his "Kicked-puppy face." "Please," he begged. Ellen sighed, before nodding.
***
After talking with Scott's father, the two went to investigate his bedroom, where his father said he always locked himself away in.
Will looked around, looking at the clustered trophies sat atop his shelf beside the window. Sam shuffled with papers on his dresser, but found nothing special.
"I don't know, babe, maybe this wasn't a gig after all," Will sighed, looking at Scott's bookshelf. She was rather impressed with the quality of books and music. Especially the mix tapes. Will reached for one but Sam slapped her hand, causing her to jerk her hand away.
"You can't take anything," he scolded her, Will pouting.
"Buzzkill," she muttered, turning and walking to his closet. Sam walked over to the nightstand to see four bottles of prescribed drugs that Scott took. Sam took a mental note of the name, Dr. George Waxler. Sam checked to make sure Scott's father wasn't looking, and slipped one into his pocket. Will gave him a look.
"So you can get buzzed and I can't even get a new novel to read?!" she whispered shouted. Sam rolled his eyes and walked toward the closet door where Will was.
"Find anything?" he asked. She shrugged sarcastically.
"You know, the usual," she started, resting her hand on the handles, "Riding crop, porno, a couple of furry masks," she swung the door open and turned on the light, "And a teenage obsession with the yellow-eyed demon."
Sam's eyes widened as he scanned the various cut outs of yellow eyes taped to the back of the closet.
"Yeah, we definitely got something," Sam nodded, before dragging Will out of the room.
***
Will yawned as they walked to their room at the Blue Rose, leaning against Sam's shoulder as she hugged his arm.
"I say, we order take out, put on some music, and then get freaky," Will smiled lazily at Sam, causing him to laugh loudly.
"Yeah, I don't think you can even keep your eyes open, Casa Erotica," he teased, poking her cheek. Will pouted and slapped his hand away.
"Fine, but we still need food. You get it," she ordered as they reached the door.
"Why me?" he scoffed, pulling out the key.
"Because I need a na-" Will suddenly stiffened, turning and grabbing the figure behind her, slamming them against the wall.
"Who the hell are you?!" Will snapped at the short woman.
"Please! You're both in danger!"
Will looked at her confused, before Sam forced her to let the woman go, bringing her into the room. They then let her explain.
"Okay, look, I know how all this sounds, but I'm not insane, and I'm not on drugs. Okay, I am normal," she insisted, "And this is way, way off the map for me."
"All right, all right, just-- just calm down, okay?" Sam tried to soothe her, Will fighting sleep as she sat on the bed, "What's your name?"
"Ava. Ava Wilson."
"Ava, I'm Sam Winchester, this is my girlfriend Willow Salvatore," Sam introduced.
Will held up a lazy peace sign, "'Sup."
Sam rolled his eyes, "Now, you were telling me about these dreams of yours?"
Ava whimpered uncomfortably, "Oh, yeah, uh, okay, about a year ago, I started having these, like headaches, and just... nightmares, I guess. And I really didn't think much of it until I had this one dream where I saw this guy get stabbed in a parking lot."
Will was wide awake now, leaning forward seriously, "When was this?"
"Uh, about a month ago?" Ava didn't seem to sure. "But, anyway, a couple days later, I found this."
Ava pulled a newspaper article out from her purse, handing it to Willow. Will took a look, her eyes widening, before handing it to Sam.
It was the article of Scott's murder.
"I saw this guy die days before it happened. I don't know why, I don't know," Ava whimpered, "It's just some reason, my dreams are coming true. And last night I had another one."
Sam nodded, "Okay."
"About you two. I saw you die," she told Sam, before turning to Will, "And you went... berserk. You turned into this... monster!"
Will looked slightly concerned, "How did you find us?"
"Oh, uh, you had motel stationery. And I googled the motel, and it was real, and so I just thought that I should warn you."
Sam scoffed, "I don't believe this."
Ava took his response the wrong way, "Oh, oh, of course you don't. You think I'm a total nutjob.
Sam shook his head, "No, no, no, I mean, you must be one of us."
Ava grew confused, "Sorry, one of-- one of who?"
"One of the psychics, like me."
Ava gave him a look.
"Look, Ava, I have visions, too, all right? So-- so we're connected."
Ava laughed, "Okay, so... you're nuts. That's great."
Will rolled her eyes, "You're the one who came to us, sweetheart."
Ava glared at the wolf, who only smiled cheekily.
"Okay, okay, look," Sam tried to reason, "Did your mother happen to die in a house fire?"
"No, my mother lives in Palm Beach!"
"So you don't fit the pattern either," Will muttered.
***
"Why can't you two just leave town, please, before you blow up and she turns into a murderer?"
Will rolled her eyes, shedding her jacket, "Not happening."
"Oh, god, why not?" Ava whined.
"Because there's something going on here, Ava, with you, with us," Sam explained, "I mean, there are others like us out there, and we're all a part of something, and I've got to figure out what."
"Also, this is the only time we can bang without his brother walking in on us," Will admitted honestly, causing Sam to roll his eyes.
"Okay, you know what? Screw you, buddy," Yeah, Ava wasn't handling it well, "Okay, 'cause I'm a secretary from Peoria, and I'm not part of anything. Okay, do you see this? I am getting married in eight weeks. I am supposed to be home addressing invitations, which I am way behind on, by the way. But instead, I drove out here to save your weirdo asses. But if you just want to stay here and die, fine. Me? I'm due back on planet Earth."
"Don't you want to know why this is happening?" Will called after the woman strutting to the door, "I mean, don't these visions scare the hell out of your? 'Cause if you walk out that door right now, you might never know the truth. Also, I don't think having a dream about some guy's heart being ripped out will make a great honeymoon night.
"We need your help," Sam quickly added, making Ava turn to face them.
Will smiled in victory.
