Entrepreneurship can be understood as knowledge and skills required to start up or perform different tasks in business. While some people think that young people should be equipped with business know-how and entrepreneurial skills, others advise against it. This essay will shed light on both views and give my opinion.

There are reasons why many do not recommend teaching entrepreneurship to young people. Firstly, they think that business acumen is something one is born with and is not easy to be taught. Secondly, a child or a young learner can be frustrated when the time, which would otherwise be given to their favourite subjects, is eaten up by business-related classes. Thirdly, in many countries, children and young people already struggle with heavy workloads and packed timetables, adding another subject only worsens the situation when young people have little time left to play or do exercises. This is by no means positive considering sports and physical activities are believed to be good for their growth.

However, I believe that entrepreunerial skills should be taught from an early age. Skills such as time management and prioritisation are important for anyone no matter what their career choice is. More importantly, since entrepreneurship demands energy and innovation, teaching this subject to young people can help create better generations. Last but not least, entrepreneurship, if taught in an innovative way, can be very appealing to young people. They can learn about a company through a case study or be thrilled to take on a business challenge and start making a profit.

In conclusion, despite the fact that entrepreneuship is not easy, I am convinced that teaching this subject to young people can help them engineer their own future.
