An Innocent Game?

NOW THAT ALL players had signed the papers, everyone was guided through a maze of hallways and stairs to start the first game. You still remained stuck with player 456 because the man refused to let go of you. You didn't understand his intentions or why he was being protective of you, but you had just to keep your guards up.

The first game will begin momentarily.

The voice of the woman from the PA instructed as you all entered a hall where you will get your picture taken. You stood behind player 456, holding his hand tightly so that you don't lose him in the crowd. You two stood in the line to get the your pictures taken. There was a bit of commotion somewhere and you were curious about it, but you just couldn't leave player 456 in fear of losing him. He was the only one you can trust momentarily. After a few minutes, your turn came and you stood in front of the camera. However, there was one problem...

You were too short.

"I can't reach!" You complained while standing on your toes to get a bit taller, but it didn't work. Player 456 went to help you, but one of the circle guards brought a stool for you to stand on. They helped you get up and you managed to reach the camera at last, "Thank you, kind guard." You spoke up with gratitude before looking at the screen in front of you.

Please look into the camera.

You heard the same voice of the woman speak to you, seeing a smiling face on the screen.

Smile.

And just like that, you smiled at the camera, getting your picture taken. Player 456 was waiting for you the entire time, so when you were done, he held your hand and proceeded to walk with you again, "Mister, where are we going? This place is too big and scary." You asked him while looking around the colorful yet ominous place. You oddly felt uncomfortable despite the cheerfulness of the place. The said man looked at you, his eyes held a hint of sadness, "We will start the first game soon, so stick with me. Okay... Uh." He trailed off, not knowing your name.

"My name is Y/N, sir." You introduced yourself to him with a bright smile on your face which made him smile a bit, "What's your name, sir?"

"I'm-..."

"Gi-hun!"

A man rushed to player 456 which you now knew his name as Gi-hun, "Jung-bae." He whispered with a hint of shock. The man who was known as Jung-bae appeared relieved to see Gi-hun, "Fuck, you were alive this whole time?" He cursed without taken in consideration your presence there. Gi-hun was still staring in shock at the man, "What are you doing here?" He asked his friend.

"What am I doing here? What are you doing here? No one's heard from you for three years. I heard your mom passed away. I had to hear about it from my wife! What kind of friend are you? Were you going to cut me out because I didn't lend you money?"

You felt awkward standing there because these two appeared to know each other. As if to save you, a guy shouted for you three to keep moving. Gi-hun held your hand a bit tighter and started to walk. Jung-bae saw you and his eyes widened, "Wait! Do they allow children here?" He asked, pointing at you. Gi-hun was hesitant of what to say, but he decided to hide it at the moment, "I don't know. I was surprised to see her too. But anyway, It's not like that. It's a long story." The two of them continued to talk while you just listened quietly.

Everybody walked through the gates to start the first game soon.

Welcome to the first game. All players, please wait a moment on the field. Let me repeat. All players, please wait a moment on the field.

You stepped outside to the field, seeing the clear blue sky. Up ahead, you saw a big doll standing in front of a dead tree, "Mister Gi-hun look! A dolly!" You pointed at the robot, tugging on his arm. Gi-hun crouched down and held your shoulders, "Y/N, you have to follow my lead no matter what, okay? It's for your sake." As he said that, you started to get a bit worried by what he told you.

"Hey Gi-hun, I think you're scaring the little one here." Jung-bae stated as he noticed the concern in your eyes.

The first game is Red Light, Green Light.

The first game was announced and you beamed in excitement because this was one of your favorite games to play with the neighborhood kids. Gi-hun stood up while Jung-bae was a bit confused, "Red Light, Green Light? The kids' game?" He questioned. The two of you noticed Gi-hun putting his fingers in his mouth and pulled out his tooth, "What are you doing? Is that your dental implant?" Jung-bae asked his friend while you looked at him with wide eye.

You knew that removing teeth could be really painful sometimes, that was why you were shocked. However, what made you worry more was the fear on Gi-hun's face.

Something was wrong for sure.
