❝Mama! Mama!❞

NOW THAT YOU three were inside the temple. You were lucky that you survived from that fire bird, it was a miracle to be exact. Although you were enjoying this battle, it seemed that fun time was over. Mk gasped dramatically as he continued to hold you in his arms,

Mk: "Who did better in the Fire Trial? Of course the Monkey King from Flower Fruit Mountain!" The boy said sarcastically.

Wukong stared at his student in puzzlement before he smiled and turned Mk around. Fire started to light up on the pillars, illuminating the temple. The two walked in, looking around the old temple.

Mk: "This... This is amazing! Nuwa's temple is real. Why does she look like...A snake?" Mk spoke up as he approached a statue of Nuwa who had a snake tail instead of legs.

Your eyes brightened and you reached for the statue, "Mama! Mama!" You happily exclaimed, wagging your fluffy white tail. Mk stared at you while raising an eyebrow,

Mk: "Do you call everyone mama, Y/N?" He asked you only to earn a giggle from you.

When he knew it was helpless to get an answer from you, he looked somewhere else. His eyes widened in surprise upon seeing a painting of Nuwa fixing the Pillar of Heaven with the five-colored stones,

Mk: "This painting depicts Nuwa fixing the sky right? Those are the five colored stones! We can be just like her then! Right?"

Your brother sounded really hopeful then turned to Monkey King who was looking through the old items.

Wukong: "We still have to take it step by step. First find the stones."

Mk: "What kind of god is Nuwa?" He asked with curiosity, turning his attention back to the painting

Wukong: "It's hard to explain in one sentence. She's considered one of the first gods. She not only created monkeys. She created people."

Mk: "She created..."

As Mk muttered, he gazed at the painting. He was lost in thought that you had to tap his face to earn his attention. The boy quickly shook his head and gasped,

Wukong: "Mk! you ok?" Wukong asked while you looked at him with your head tilted. Mk chuckled and scratched the back of his head,

Mk: "l-l'm ok. I was gonna say, Did you jump in... a great pillar of light?" He asked again, lifting his head to see a big mural that showed a monkey jumping in a pillar.

Wukong: "Me? I do that often at the final moment of a decisive prattle." He replied as he threw variety of items behind him.

Mk: "Oh right. This...?"

The three of you looked at the mural when Mk pointed at it. Wukong immediately noticed how Mk looked concerned,

Wukong: "Hey Mk! I don't think we'll find what we're looking for here. We should leave. Y/N here looks bored too."

Monkey broke the silence which made Mk snap out of his thoughts. He then looked down at you in his arms and smiled, seeing how adorable you looked when you looked bored,

Mk: "Ok! Continue the trial!" Your brother exclaimed and threw you on his back, making you laugh.

Wukong: "Continue to find the five colored stones!"

"Bubba!"

Mk: "We'll be out soon! I have... a good feeling about this!"

And just like that, the three of you began the journey to look for the first stone.

-TIME SKIP-

As much as Mk was very confident that he would get the first stone easily, he was greatly mistaken. Each nook and cranny was filled with dangerous traps that mostly fell upon Wukong who was upset the entire time. Meanwhile, you were having so much fun with these traps. Whenever Mk would mess up, you would just teleport away to safety.

Eventually, you and Wukong waited for Mk to pick a path between two of which had terrifying traps. You sat on the ground beside Wukong, trying to catch his tail.

Mk: "How am I suppose to pick a path?? Please help me temple junk!" He exclaimed while freaking out.

Wukong: "ALRIGHT!"

Wukong suddenly shouted, startling you and Mk. Your brother accidentally dropped the items he had collected in the lava.

Mk: "MY TREASURES!" He cried out and Wukong sighed, forcing a smile on his face.

Wukong: "Calm down MK. Never mind the two paths ahead. What about your path?"

Mk: "My... path? I..."

Wukong: "Mk. Challenges are always going to come one after another in your life, But you saved the world twice!"

Mk: "Technically three times." He smirked smugly at his achievement.

Wukong: "Are you talking about the time in Megopolis? That doesn't count." Monkey King stated with a smirk and you giggled, "Anyways, The challenge before you now is the one you choose. There's never a right answer. Listen, whether you understand or not, I'll say it again. All you need to do is take the temple the trials, and even destiny and forget it all. Make your own path!" He punched a hole in the wall behind him, revealing a secret path.

"Whoa!" You gasped in awe and clapped your hands, boosting Wukong's ego.

Mk: "I think you just gave me another option." When mk stated this, Wukong's smile that appeared because of you dropped.

Wukong: "Bud! You know what I mean!"

Mk: "I understand. Thank you." And just like that, he walked ahead.

Wukong was puzzled for a bit, but he chuckled, "Baba..." You called out, grabbing Monkey King's pant which made him look down at you.

Wukong: "Oh. Let's get going, little peach."

He picked you up and went after Mk. You three reached a big room with a pillar in the middle, the ceiling was decorated with stars as if it was the space.

Mk: "My gut tells me that's one of the stones." Your brother mumbled, seeing something shiny on the pillar.

Wukong: "What?Really? That's great! I thought I'd only find treassure or things like that here!" Monkey King happily wrapped his arm around Mk's shoulders, "It's an actual stone? How lucky! How are we going to get it?" He gave your brother a knowing smile.

Mk: "Leave this to MK the Monkie Kid." He summoned his staff, "Here comes Monkie Kid!" As he exclaimed, he used the staff to get to the top of the pillar.

Wukong: "Welp, let's get going, Y/N!" He flashed you a grin and hopped on his cloud, following Mk.

The moment you and the two males got on the top, the guardian was waiting there. It was too late to react as the feathered creature screeched loudly, pushing you all back. You were suddenly lifted up along with Mk and Monkey King, your eyes flashing white. You saw a vision of Nuwa fixing the Pillar of Heaven by using the five colored stones.

"Mama..."

Guardian: "Can you really do it like her?Sacrifice everything you have to save the world? This is the only way."

You could see another vision where Mk was holding you with the stones, ready to leap at the pillar while his friends were screaming at him to stop. The guardian gently put you three down, no longer showing hostility.

Guardian: "Your soul has passed the test. You also received your answer." The guardian shifted its gaze to you which made Wukong hold you closer, "The child must be delivered to her. My mission ends here. My stone is yours."

And just like that, the Phoenix guardian disappeared completely, giving its stone to Mk.

Wukong: "There really was a trial." He cleared his throat then smirked, "But everything said was from the bottom of my heart. But simple sentences are heartfelt too, isn't that right, Peaches?" He turned around and proceeded to walk away with you in his arms.

Mk looked at the red stone in his hands, feeling something wasn't right about this ordeal. Not to mention that the guardian said that you must be delivered to her. What was that supposed to mean?

Mk: "Just like in the mural, I saw everything."

Wukong: "Everything you saw was just an illusion. They think they have control over everything in the world. They think they know all the answers." He looked down at you and saw you looking at him with a hint of sadness obviously because he talked with Mk a bit harshly. He petted your head and smiled before approaching Mk, "But they're wrong. No one can predict the future."

Mk: "Only you can choose your own path."

Monkey King nodded when you let out a yawn, "Ba..." You mumbled and then rubbed your eye.

Wukong: "Y/N is getting tired. Let's get going." And just like that, he walked away with you.

Mk was still worried and didn't understand exactly how to fix the pillar, but he was oddly worried and afraid. Of what? He didn't know.
